I stopped by the Walmart in Newington in an attempt to try to find my Cetaphil moisturizer. This Walmart is pretty big, it features a garden center, a vision center, a nail salon, Subway, car care and a pharmacy. Currently they have a large assortment of Easter bunnies, eggs and baskets. Most shelves appeared well stocked and organized. In the skincare isle the Cetaphil stuff and some other brands were under lock and key. They didn't have what I was looking for. I don't think this is Walmart's fault, as it is likely discontinued. I saw a cute shirt on my way out. The cashier completely ignored me. She was talking to a customer behind me. I bought a battery a little bit ago (regretfully now) and I realized it had just a little fluid on the side. I brought it back and had them test it. It worked. I said ok cool! I bring i home. Turns out not the right battery. Visually could see it was too large for the space in my vehicle. I bring it back in. They say it's dented. The only people that did anything with the battery are the service center employees since I can't even use the battery. So riddle me that. Dented from who? Y o u. I just accept defeat and go purchase my item, one being clippers for trimming and shaving head hair. I get home and open the box and not only is the packaging torn open but there is fucking hair on this blade. Literal black and dark auburn hair shavings all throughout the blade. Even though it's often pretty packed that's for good reason. Huge parking, lots of great deals and organized store. Found everything I wanted, check out was wide open and I left the store very happy and unstressed. They have all type of items with all price ranges and all age groups. Even refunds/returns are quite painless. Highly recommend checking out the clearance isle. Lots of hidden treasures to be found! read more

Several times I have purchased tires from Walmart. There are good buys. Just don't recommend having them installed at newington Connecticut Walmart. The mechanics in the garage are actually very good. The desk people are completely incompetent and it wasn't just a bad day. I've been in there several times over a couple years and it's the same undereducated lazy people every time. I'm surprised that corporate isn't wise to it yet. I complained the last time to a store manager and he gave me a sarcastic response and that I had an issue asking for the tire sales people to inspect my tires and conform sizes. The manager wanted me to go out and retrieve the tire size my self. Unprofessional and lazy group at this store . I would fire everyone in there . read more

My husband owns a laundromat so as you would assume I have a lot of quarters and I went to self checkout and my total was $60 so I started putting in my quarters and the machine was showing that I paid $30 already when I went to put the rest on my card I looked at the machine and the amount switched to $3 so I told the employees and they went to go check the cameras I was waiting there for 20 MINUTES Athena when they finally came back for the first time they said the cameras said I only put $3 so I told them that's not true and they went to go check again finally after 40 MINUTES they came back and gave me my $30 back. Even the parking lot is filthy-- cups and trash everywhere. In the store, it isn't better. All the items are thrown onto shelves, not organized at all, and there don't seem to be any employees working on it. Hire more people. I don't know why there are so many negative reviews. I went here because the reviews were so bad...I had to see for my self. The shelves were stocked and no mess. I went looking at the Christmas clearance and an employee joked with me unprompted. Nothing looked dirty and they had items I had never seen at a Walmart before. Smaller than the typical Walmart. This particular store is missing common household brands sold at most other locations, such as indivual packages of Chobani Greek yogurt and Halo Top ice cream. This Wal-Mart location was renovated several years ago and it still maintains a cleanliness that some of the other locations in the Hartford area have lost (or never had in the first place). The store is consistently clean and it's shelves are well-stocked with merchandise sold at competitive prices. I go here for a lot of everyday items and know while walking through the doors that I am not going to find a lot of high end merchandise. Yes - layout and product selection is pretty consistent from one Wal-Mart to the next, but at least at this location I don't feel like I need to douse myself in Purell as soon as I leave the store. read more

We stopped into this Walmart to buy supplies for my partners job. It was a bit busy but nothing we couldn't handle, nothing too far from our usual Walmart experience. Until we got to the dairy coolers. I dot know if someone had spilled milk days ago and it was still in the drainage system underneath but it smelled awful back there. It was a sour, rotten dairy smell that I could barely handle. I was glad it was a small section and that we could get away from it quickly. The vision center is incredibly busy. The optometrist and assistant were friendly and professional. Even though the department was busy, I never felt rushed. Except to wait longer for your appointment than the time they give you. The extra time they give the customers more than made up for 15-20 extra wait time. They have a nice selection of frames that I found to be up to date and stylish enough. I really needed a replacement set fast and they delivered on time and had no issues at all. read more

This location was renovated a little while ago, they aren't as bad as Manchester, they in no way look new though. There is an overwhelming number of locations in this store that are hard to get through with one cart let alone two. The contents of this review don't even matter. Throngs of mindless masses will still continue to shop at Wal*Mart, allured by the bulk-purchase, unbeatably low prices on everyday junk. And I include myself in said mindless masses. I'll say I've had a few good experiences here. Once I bought an electric grill for $25, but there were parts missing from the box. fortunately, the staff was nice enough to let me poach spare parts from the display model, since it was a discontinued item anyway. I'll also say this is one of the more pleasant Wal*Marts to be in. If you try hard enough, you can pretend for a moment that you're not at America's most personally embarassing rummage sale. Aaaaannd then there's the tire center, which prompted me to write this review. Call #1: A man picks up the phone, I request tires for my girlfriend's car. I am met with a "hold on a moment," after which I am immediately placed on hold. Five minutes later, I give up. Call #2: I don't even get a hold of anyone. On hold for 5-6 more minutes without even a response from the tire center. Call #3: I want to talk to a [bleep]ing manager. In hindsight, I'm glad that I won't be getting my girlfriend's tires at freakin' Wal*Mart. read more

As far as Walmarts go, this one is pretty bad. It may be in fact one of the worst one's in the world. All of the employees are either inept or have only been working in this particular store for a few days. Needed help to find where I could find a shower curtain lining and was sent to three separate areas of the store before I found them myself. Probably my own fault for not realizing they would be located next to the Tupperware instead of the bathroom stuff. Anyways, this Walmart is infested with more trash from around the area than most others. It's weird, cause most of the other stores in this particular area of the Berlin Tpke. aren't as bad. I guess I'm not alone. A horrible place. Bums with signs in the parking lot. All the employees were busy talking to each other in Spanish. Not one employee acknowledged me the whole time. The girl had to be called to open a dressing room for me and managed to not look in my direction at all as she did so. Later 3 employees were just yapping together as i waited for another changing room until she was paged by someone who could see me there waiting behind her. Disgusting pigsty of a store. 12/30/14 (3-4:00pm) Long story short, I had my tires stolen by "mechanics" (THIEVES) while waiting an hour and a half for a purported "tire rotation". After I had waited during this 1.5 hours, the kindly store associate lied through his teeth, "I am sorry, but we can't rotate these tires because they are too old. Would you like to BUY new ones from us?". 1. Why the HELL would I want to pay you to rotate old tires??? 2. Do you think that I fit the naive college kid stereotype; that I don't know you replaced my new tires with old ones??? Moving along, I mistakenly left before realizing the dual-points stated above, and I checked my tires when I got home, only to realize that my brand-name Bridgestone tires were not there. But these burned-out, unbranded, thin-tread tires were in place! What a trade-off! Naturally, I called and spoke to the same store associate (I should have recorded his name, but him and his gang of thieves were concealing their name-tags...), and unloaded my barrage of complaints and a single threat of filing a police report (just for gigs). Trembling, he responded, "Come down and we can figure things out.", while avoiding my questions and failing to change the subject. We arrive at the Walmart Tire Center, exhausted and ready to get this over with. My parents and I walked in, and a manager with two higher-up associates were already there, waiting for us! Ooh exciting! I unloaded my story to the manager, and she told me to wait; they would check the security footage. Waiting a half hour for a response, we are greeted by the original three dunce-caps, only to be told, "We checked the video footage, and there was no evidence of your tires being replaced." ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. So I kept my brewing anger under control and calmly responded, "Oh. If that's the case, let us have a look at the video." One of the higher-up associates couldn't even look me with her thieving eyes to tell me, "Under Walmart policy, we are not allowed to show you the footage." THEN HOW DO I KNOW YOU AREN'T LYING TO ME??? After hearing this life-saving news, the two mechanics continued to jerk each other off, perpetuating the lie, and continued asking the manager, "There's nothing on that camera, right?" You wouldn't believe how close I was to grabbing that mechanic's chicken-neck and- *explicit details* Lesson learned. 1. Don't trust mechanics. 2. Don't trust Walmart. 3. Don't trust Walmart's mechanics. 4. Document your vehicle's appearance before going into a mechanic (if absolutely needed). 5. To avoid 4, learn how to maintain your own vehicle! In the end, my previously used tires aren't even worth pursuing (even if I could witness the thieving mechanics filed with felonies), and I'm taking my business to Costco. $2.50 x 4 + ($2.50 x .065) = $10.65. I would have paid you that amount, had you done the honest thing and rotated my tires. Ten freaking sixty-five. Absolutely inhuman. I'm going to generalize it (logical fallacy), and tell you to never go to a Walmart for anything auto related. -400/10. You guys owe me my tires. read more

I agree with the previous reviewer. It's dirty, trashy, and every other similar adjective. I don't think I've ever seen an employee there speak English either. I ordered 2 tires online and scheduled an appointment to have them installed. 40 minutes before my appointment I receive an e-mail canceling my appointment. No reason was given. They offered a link to reschedule and it gave me 2 days with 5 available times, none of the times were available when I clicked on them. So I go pick up the tires and ask if they had any available t times for that day. They agreed to slip me in after an hour of waiting they put the car in to change the tires, then basically pull it back out telling me they won't replace too very bald tires. they wanted me to replace the rear as well. Can't afford 4 that's why I bought 2 now I'm on the road with 2 bald tires and 2 brand new ones in my trunk. this is acceptable. T he rear tires are within acceptable state of ct guidelines For tread depth. I should have looked at the Yelp reviews before going there. This store has a 2 star rating for good reason.
