I guess there is one in every town just craptastic walmart. This is anchorages... While its doing better than the one i used to go to in SLC where they almost strip search you and demand you check your bags in this one at least allows you to keep your bag with you. Anchorage has got a huge problem with homelessness, begging, panhandling and tripped outside their minds people and this walmart is aware of that. This Walmart hasn't gotten to that point of getting personal with its guests but i suspect its gonna go that way here quickly if the homeless problem doesn't get cleaned up. I have heard of people getting beat up by the beggars at the bus stop in front of this walmart and i am not sure if its true but i sure as heck ain't gonna find out. So my reccommendation is if you drive drive here and lock your car or just avoid this walmart altogether. That being said typical walmart you're on your own to find everything. make sure you check the receipts because i swore they almost priced something higher than what it was but it turned out everything was ok. read more

Management is none existent. Employees are off with their boyfriends instead of helping anyone. Exclusive items are never in Stock or apparently even ordered. Employees can't tell if an item with their sku is in Stock or ever ordered. read more

My great uncle was actually friends with Sam Walton and the 8th truck driver for Walmart. Needless to say, I love shopping at Walmart and making Wally World runs. This particular Walmart, however, doesnt live up to what I expect from the company. The meat section was understocked, there were stacks of items in the walkway so I had to go out and around just to get to the meat section, and the worst part was that we waited in line for about as long as we shopped. I am 45 years old, in my life I have never so much as taken a piece of gum that didn't belong to me. Today and every day that my family has gone to this walmart for the past year we've been treated like thieves. Walmart greeter are supposed to be there to GREET Walmart patrons not be a stop theif. I can't leave the Walmart without showing someone my reciept. Today was the last straw for me.... I went to try on two pairs of pants in the dressing room when the gal says she has to physically touch my items so she can count them... WTH REALLY?!?!? I'm done with this Walmart. If I could rate lower I would. I can't express more clearly how much I loathe this location. I don't mind any other Walmart, except it's still Walmart. The employees never know what they are talking about. Their policies change every time I have gone in there. I won't say about what but the service just sucks. Walmart, Cheats, Scammers, and Liars. Walmart has a lot of issues, undertrained or uninterested staff barely willing to help out, bad community, poor selection of specific items, but none of those come close to this. Walmart sold me a bike that after a few uses, had broken brakes. I don't use brakes too much, and when I do it's very light. No biggie, my mother and I thought. We just took it in to the bike shop and got it fixed up, nope. Asked multiple friends who knew a lot about bikes to help, nope. Welp, we'll just buy a new bike when It's summer again, right? right? Haha. No. One time is ok. One time is a manufacturing issue. One time is someone accidentally bumping the bike off the rack. One time is a slight issue. One time is a completely acceptable mistake that can be brushed off like a speck of dust on a table. We went to Walmart, and purchased a new bike. After TWO DAYS and TWO RIDES it broke. When I say broke I don't mean the chain had to be popped back into place or re-adjust the wheels. A very important piece was bent and twisted out, and then nearly fell off. Needless to say, we'll be returning it soon. It's truly abhorring that they would continuously sell poor quality bikes to people. After walking about one and a half miles (which doesn't sound half bad until you realize it's uphill in the cold after playing at a park for an hour) I got home at about 8:30 when with the bike, I'd be home at 8:00. Honestly, losing me as a customer is a very challenging thing to do. Congratulations Walmart, you've achieved the near-impossible. read more

I loved it as they carried variety of Souvenirs. I know how expensive it can get in small stores at Anc downtown. I can't stand any of these stores. Their are a blight to any location they open up in. They ruin economies and no offense but some of the people that shop there are less than appropriate, friendly, or bathed!! I have no idea what it is about Walmart but WOW! I think what did it for me is what I researched about where they get their clothing, how it is made, and it made me sick to my stomach. If you buy stuff here and it looks on sale, remember the price. Often times the sale is for another product and the sign is misleading. If you go in the store, be careful. The vagrants and drug addicts are a little too much for a normal family to handle. I went in there three weeks ago and a big big lady asked for money. I said I didn't have any. She asked me to drive her to the food shelter in my vehicle. The food shelter's aways away, the roads were icy, I have a dog that bits in my car, so I told her no. I told her no and she called me all these names and threatened to assault me. The next customer tries to enter the store. The customer tells the lady she has no cash. The lady grabs the customers arms and starts screaming at her, calling her name. The lady had a 10 year old with her. I later asked management about the aggressive panhandlers outside and they don't like to call APD a lot or they get charged. They do have security guards, but they are limited to what they can do. Seems like when they do call APD, APD fails to arrive promptly unless someone's been shot. read more

The parking lot was huge and a mess of cars jammed into unkept parking spaces, large water puddles in the lot, and potholes, grocery carts everywhere, shady cars with possible drug deals going down. Inside is fine, but the bathroom smelled and was a total dump. The cloths are the cheapest humanly possible, and don't stand up to washing, or regular use. I bought a bike once, and it kept breaking down. I exchanged it, returned that one, had a couple more adjusted by the guy that doesn't speak English before I gave up and just got my money back. read more

Well I am an employee of walmart and they do not treat them well. I worked with a walmart in Alabama 6 or 7 months and was told I was a great employee but when I asked to be transferred to Alaska they said I could not so I put in my 3 week left and reapplied and got hired on A street well now they are saying I won't be able to get there bonus that is coming up here soon even though I have been working for walmart for almost 1 or 2 years pluse there pay sucks I do a lot there and yet I still get payed the minimum that u start out with pluse I had prior experience in walmart but yet I still get payed the minimum u start out with up here if you are thinking of getting hired at Walmart don't because it sucks please.
