I'm really not a Walmart fan but I've been to some okay ones in the past where they have something you need and it's more convenient than ordering online or looking elsewhere for a better price. However I detest this Walmart. It's filthy, the parking lot is constantly flooded with trash and crap strewn in parking spaces and sometimes in left behind shopping carts. The other day, someone decided to empty all their food trash and whatnot into a shopping cart and there were 3 crows picking through it. Disgusting. As to expect from Walmart employees who probably make about $7.50 an hour, no one knows anything. If you ask if they have an item, they don't know. If you ask where something is located, they don't know. If you ask anything that has to do with Walmart or a product, well, you get it. That's of course if you're lucky enough to find an employee. I find it amazing that a place this size can function with what seems like three people on the entire sales floor. I ordered an item online for pickup and when I went to the kiosk to pick it up, I waited 30 whole minutes for them to bring it up front. It wasn't even a large item. Come on! Like I said, I'm not a huge Walmart fan, but I've been to ones in NY that are really not that bad. And the employees will at least TRY to fake like they give a rubber ducking $#%* about your question. This one- it's like God forbid you ask anything except where's the exit. read more

I've always liked this specific location because they ALWAYS have what I want when I come there to shop. The store is pretty much in order and there is always a variety of whatever specific item im looking for. Another thing I enjoy about this location is the heavenly smell of cooked food as soon as you walk thru the door. Always smells amazing!!! The only reason why I didn't give them a 5 star is because of the check out lines. They have about 20 check out lines but only have employees working in no more then 5 making the check out process extremely long!!! ZERO STARS WORST LOCATION DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE. So I guess they no longer do returns without receipts. Or at least this is what I was told. There was a man trying to do a return before me and he was asked for an ID. He left the store to get his ID so it was my turn. I tried to return 2 dresses and 3 shirts and I was told I couldn't with out a receipt. I told them i didn't want cash back I wanted a gift card cause I wanted to spend it in the store anyway. She said no again so I asked when the policy changed they couldn't tell me. I asked to speak to a manager never got one instead they sent another employee to tell me couldn't do the return so I asked for the corporate number and they told me to call (1800 Walmart) that isn't the corporate number. I had to look for it myself. So I walk around the store buy a few grocery items and as I'm being checked out I see the man returned to their service desk. So I walk back and asked him if they did the return for him and they did( keep in mind he didn't have a receipt). At that point the employees yell at me saying they could only return $50 worth of items. I was fine with that they didn't have to look at the bag and deny service. They could've scanned my stuff to see what the total was. DO BETTER!!! & just an FYI this store location is ALWAYS DIRTY and stinks. I'm confused. I thought I had created a review for this fresh little piece of hell known as Wal-mart. Maybe I composed it in my head and never put it to paper... That must be it... I find it amazing that Walmart stores can vary so much. Take this location for example. It's the same size as other Super Walmarts, yet it has half the inventory selection of any other Walmart in the area. You could say it's the part of town that it's in I guess. I'm sure quite a bit of the stuff here walks out the door without getting paid for. Seriously though, it seems more often than not the brands I buy are not available here and I have to swing by another store, whether that be the Walmart by work or a competitor, to get what I want. It's not the Walmart doesn't sell the items, they're just rarely here. It just doesn't make sense to me and it's inconvenient. While I've found the staff to be friendly, many of them don't seem to have a clue. On a recent trip I was looking for some heavy duty industrial Velcro. I had to ask 3 people where it was located. The first two didn't even know what Velcro was. I explained that some people who can't tie their shoes use it to replace their shoe laces and that it sticks together and peels apart and makes a tearing sound. The third employee knew what it was and got me to the right section. By the way in case you're ever looking for it, Industrial Velcro is located in the crafts section next to the sewing stuff. The other thing is the freak show... Yes, I said freak show, and it's mentioned in other reviews for this store. Ever hear of the "People of Walmart" website. I'm sure some of those photo's were taken here. You find "the strangeness" walking around the store, or looking for hand outs in the parking lot. etc... Walmart doesn't do anything about it. Almost every time I've been here someone has asked for a few dollars. Once I was even asked for diapers. So why do I go here? I could go somewhere else, that's for sure, and often times I do. However it's the only Walmart close to home and if I hit it at the right time of the day, they may have have 4-6 lanes open and I can get in and out relatively fast. Walmart and I have a love/hate relationship. Some days I love it, but pretty much all of the time I hate it. Overall - I don't like the big business store that drives out small business, but that really is not the main reason why I dislike Walmart or to be more specific this Walmart. I'm not sure if it's Hampton Roads or if this happens everywhere but this store is filled with THE most insane, rude, loud, obnoxious, and crazy people ever. That doesn't even cover the employees who are at most not helpful at all. Customer service here is not even a joke because it does not EVEN EXIST! Once I waited for an hour in the customer service area trying to get a tax-exempt card for work. I was at the time the ONLY customer in there. No one there knows how to do their job and the very few that do - I'm sure get overlooked. I love Walmart though in a small way because you literally can get anything you need there. It really is convenient in some ways; however, most days I'd just prefer to go to several different stores. Honestly - Walmart can be a rather fun place to go to at night though with a friend. LOL The place is sketchy has hell. Ladies should not come here alone at night. Yikes. And I do have a hilarious story for you all... A co-worker and I came here to buy food/drinks for the End of School Year Party we put on for the kids at the shelters. We went up to the bakery and requested two cakes that read "Way To Go!" and "We're Proud of You!" We waited a few minutes and the girl finally brought the cakes up. The cake literally said "We Proud of You!" No lie. I cannot make it up. I even posted a picture. I stood there in shock for the longest time because this is the moment you long for in cake mishaps but also I almost didn't want to go through the pain of asking her to change it. I finally did ask her though. She immediately copped an attitude with me and started laughing. The other girls in the back questioned her response. She said "Oh, dey want it to say WE ARE PROUD OF YOU!" Yeah... because that's Standard American English. UGH. OKAY. SO. I am livid at this Walmart. I have lived in the Wards Corner area my entire life and usually shop at the Kroger because it is much closer to me. But, sometimes Walmart does have better deals so I head over to this location. I buy a two half gallons of milk, both expire on October 12th Let me remind you today is the fucking 7th (or it was, it's midnight now) and I opened my milk, to make 12 eggs for my family. I pour it in and cook it up. And then after all is said and done I pour a glass for my husband and I and I take a sip before serving the food and low and behold, I am spitting it out in the sink and hauling ass to the bathroom where I then became ill. The milk spoiled 5 days before it's expiration date. And everyone knows it's good for 72 hours AFTER that date anyway. What gives? I drove to the Walmart at 11pm and talk to a manager, Destiny, who proceeded to give me attitude and asked me to wait in the LONGEST LINE IN WALMART to get an exchange. I said no way, snapped on her, and found a different manager who was apologetic, and gave me my milk and let me just go home. I am beyond pissed. Kroger it is from now on! read more

To me personally Walmart is just Walmart... There's nothing fabulous about this location. Customer service is always horrible. So you already know what to expect when you walk in the doors. But I do like coming to Walmart. I usually come early in the morning to avoid the crowd. I don't suggest anyone to come two hours before they are closing. Cause you'll have to be prepared for only one line to be open with 50 people waiting in that one line. And don't let the super couponers be out for a night on the town. Lol! The line will be longer.... Just saying.. Smh! But what can I say! It's Walmart! Now Walmart is very convenient for reasonable buys on food, home decor, tires, toys, bedding, bathroom accessories, and so much more. But what I definitely will not purchase at Walmart is meat or seafood.... Omg! I've seen meat items in the baby section of Walmart or in the bedding section. So when it comes to certain products at Walmart. I just would not purchase it... I usually just come to this location for my dog food. Cause the dog section is located right next to the garden section. So its basically in and out for me. Depending how long the line is in the garden section. This Tidewater Drive one, however, is close by and since the Farm Fresh has been sold and the adjacent Sam's Club has closed (after just three years!) it is one of the cleaner places to shop for groceries. It's also good for bird seed, beer, wine, and electrical odds and ends. We prefer Kroger's for groceries, but the nearest is in Wards Corner and, although they have great products, the store is not as near-by or clean-appearing. read more

I don't normally like going to Wal-Mart... As soon as I walk in I usually feel stressed... it is always busy and overwhelming... However, I have been using the grocery pick up service over the past few months and have to say, I am a fan! I love grocery shopping on the app from home. It is free too! With a nearly 1 year old at home this simplifies my life and prevents a mid grocery shopping baby melt down. My most recent trip prompted me to write a review, because I was very impressed with the service. It was a very rainy day when I was picking up with one guy literally running back and forth to bring the groceries to the cars. It was a busy day for him but he had such a strong sense of urgency, remained calm, made sure he got everyone taken care of and maintained a positive attitude. I helped him load the groceries into the car to speed things up; he told me I didn't have to, but I insisted. He said he volunteered this role that day and someone inside was loading everything up for him so he could make the runs to the cars. He was also concerned about keeping groceries dry. I was grateful that he made going to get the groceries on a gloomy day a positive and overall good experience. Generally speaking, the produce and meat selected have been excellent and very fresh. When they have to substitute an item for another item, they charge only the original amount of what you chose, but usually give you more or a better item. While I avoid Walmart when I can, I am an advocate for the grocery pick up service. read more

This Walmart is a decent one, and I say that for a few reasons. First, they almost always have what I'm looking for as far as expected home and food items. I have shopped from several of their sections including groceries, lawn and garden, make up, pet care, clothes, shoes, electronics, and even toys for a couple of years, and I have only not been able to get what I need on one occasion. I have found the staff to be helpful when approached, but I have never witnessed anyone rushing to greet or help customers. Most employees keep to themselves and do not often greet at the register. Overall, I found the store to be decently organized. Shelves are generally stocked and items are marked at the correct prices. My only complaint would be that the produce isn't always stocked with quality foods. The store is easy to navigate as it is well lit with plenty of signs and the store follows a typical American grocery/super store layout. I have never had an issue with the parking lot or have felt unsafe...an aspect people can relate to when I say some Walmart Parking lots can be sketchy. read more

Went in for a simple oil change with only one car before me at 8am. My car was pulled into the garage about 830 and just sat in the garage until it was lifted at 915. Waited so long that I had to ask for manager and find out why it was taking so long. Here is my thing if you post that you open at 7am, then be open at that time. The manager then tells me that they only had one tech the whole time until about 9am. Can someone let me know when that became my concern that you didn't have your department covered properly. read more

I avoid Walmart as much as possible. I am almost always so annoyed and riddled with anxiety by the time I leave. Not exactly ways I love to feel. This location is closest to me and one of the better locations in the area. A bit cleaner and overall maintained better. That said the vast majority employees here are rude. Apathetic I can ignore, but outright rudeness is just not OK. Purposefully ignoring customers, inappropriate conversations with other employees loudly on the sales floor, and snide interactions with customers. Just a sample of the behavior you'll find here. Guess who doesn't price match anymore? That's right, Walmart doesn't price match anyone other than Walmart.com prices. Speaking of prices, it would be nice if there were price labels regularly on shelves. Or at least price labels that were the right item. Oh one thing is clear when you pay people the lowest wage you don't get quality people. Lotta guys and gals standing around talking to each other And not helping customers. I hate the self checkout stand because it illuminates a persons job but there was only one checkout person and that person was moving as slow as molasses and the persons carpet was being checked out was full of items didn't want to be there all morning. Got to the self check out and had difficulty with my card but there was no one there to help the person who was at the station was busy talking to some of her other fellow employees instead of standing at the station waiting to help customers like myself with the self check out. After three attempts of trying to get it to work I canceled the transaction left my items in the cart and renewed my Vow not to go to Satanmart again. When I first looked at the rating for this Walmart I saw it was two stars. I get why it got that. But like I said before maybe if they paid higher wages they might get better people who actually give a crap about helping customers and Chatting up their friends. I gave this shithole one star because I can't go any lower. First off, the staff that works the desk at the oil change area are extremely rude. I mean, I get it, your life experiences and years of studying for your degree has brought you to the Walmart auto service industry, but some civility wouldn't hurt. I came here for a routine oil change and because two cars are ahead of me, it was going to take 2 hours. I'm no auto genius but I know it doesn't take that long. Did I mention I had to wait 20 minutes for them to come to my car and check the model, year and gas mileage? Yeah, that happened too and with no line in front of me. The workers are rude for the most part and act like a white guy with tattoos is something out of this world. I guess when you aren't being paid below minimum wage and looking like you just rolled out of bed this morning, they tend to judge. the very fact I still come to this seventh circle of hell is a miracle from God, but after being in this store and seeings its workers and patrons, I know there is no God because he or she wouldn't let this ratchet hole exist. read more

I'm a southern girl, or maybe it's the prior customer service experience in me? or maybe I was just raised with respect?, so when I walk past you or make eye contact with you, I feel the need to smile, speak, or just acknowledge that you exist and carry on with my day, but doing that at this particular establishment is completely OUT THE DOOR! From the store associates to the customers, 98% of them will just awkwardly stare at you, and one lady even turned her face up at me and my child. You're staring me dead in my face, I smile, in turn, my child smiles, and you frown at us? I walked past 2 store associates casually having a conversation in the aisle, I smile while doing the friendly "head wave", and they just continue their conversation while watching me walk by. I don't know what kind of manager is in charge of their staff training, but this level of customer service is absolutely ridiculous. Why can't I give ZERO stars I stopped by to get a quick oil change, rotate and balance prior to a long road trip. 2 hours and 45 minutes later, I had my truck back. Although this Walmart is located in a not as upscale part of town, the inside of this store is actually kept quite nicely and is much better than that one on North Military Highway. The only negative is that it's about the only store in the area as opposed to N. Military Highway that has all the other giant stores where you can shop at your convenience. I went here just for the lube and tire portion of the store. Got the high mileage oil change and was told they also do headlight restoration. Now my headlights were horrible. It looked as if it had a permanent frosty fog look going on. For $30, why not. What a difference! So glad I went with it. Makes my 2004 look younger. Lol. As for the oil change, no issues there. This WalMart recently got an update on the outside, and a bit on the inside. The store is always well stocked for everything but fresh produce. The pickings for produce were pretty slim this time around. They have recently put in self-checkout lines, but they are always packed beyond belief so it is a toss up between getting everything in one place with low prices, or being able to breathe while walking around a store. The recent upgrades make it feel a bit nicer but they still have underpaid employees doing jobs they hate, so the customer service will always lack if that doesn't change. read more
