FINANCIAL SERVICES: NOT!!! I cannot begin to count the times I've tried to use the customer service money counter inside Walmart ONLY TO FIND TIME AND TIME AGAIN the services closed early ( as in this latest case) or were never opened at all! There is NO WAY Im the only one this has happened to REPEATEDLY! I now absolutely refuse to be snubbed one more time and I hope everyone follows suit! BOYCOTT SUCH BS SERVICES AKA A GOOD SLAP IN THE FACE! Get in your car and go to the nearest Walmart, Auburn Blvd, they are always open!

Terrible since they took out self checkout. What used to take 5 minutes now can take 30 minutes or more to simply buy things.

On December 23rd, my fiancé brought a cast-iron pot to the counter because it had no tag and simply asked about the price. The employee working that day accused him of removing the tag himself, claimed he had done this before, and said he had been a problem in the past. This was completely false. When my fiancé calmly tried to explain that there must be some confusion, he was asked to leave. Being accused of dishonesty without evidence was upsetting and unacceptable, especially after being loyal customers who supported the store with both purchases and donations. Businesses should value their customers and treat them with basic respect and fairness. Because of this experience, we no longer feel comfortable shopping here, which is a huge bummer. I hope management takes this seriously and addresses how customers are treated. (I never leave reviews)

I will say that "TJ Maxx" has been one of my major go-to stores for new, discounted merchandise…read more Since they are a subsidiary of Marshalls (which focuses on more discounted products) and HomeGoods (which is primarily non-clothing/apparel), all of their stores are unique in their own way. Located directly on Madison Ave and adjacent to Hazel Ave at the Madison Marketplace shopping center in Fair Oaks, this TJ Maxx store has been in operation dating back to around 2008-09. It neighbors many major retailers such as Raley's, Dollar Tree, Jamba Juice, Chipotle, and much more. On any given day, the parking lot can fill up quickly but in the few dozen times I have shopped here, I have not had any issues. As for the hours of operation, they are open 7 days a week from 9:30am-9:30pm. Upon entry, you will notice how open, well-lit, and spacious the interior layout is. The registers and checkout are to the immediate left while the fitting rooms are in the middle right hand side of the store. And if you need to use the restroom, they offer both a men's and women's restrooms towards the rear part of the store. As for the merchandise itself, TJ Maxx specializes in a variety of men's, women's, children's, and baby apparel as well as shoes, socks, hats, and loungeware. Additionally, their selection of beauty products, handbags, jewelry, accessories, and luggage is quite impressive. Finally, they carry a decent amount of home products that include candles, towels, sheets, comforters, bath, kitchen, furniture, outdoor items, and even a very sizable amount of food products. I have found TJ Maxx to be the hybrid store as they have much of what Marshalls offers (at slightly higher prices) as well as HomeGoods (at slightly lower prices). To sum things up, the Fair Oaks "TJ Maxx" is one of their better locations in the greater Sacramento area. I've purchased a ton of name brand apparel over the years. This includes major labels such as Calvin Klein, Tommy Bahama, Adidas, Polo, Nike, Tommy Hilfiger, and much more. And considering you're paying much less than you would be at say a Macy's or Nordstrom, your money can go much further. When you factor in the above average customer service, reasonable prices, well-stocked merchandise, and a decent shopping experience, I am giving them a respectable four-star rating.

Whoever is in charge of forcing the workers to push customers into signing up for the credit card…read moreneeds to be fired. Came in yesterday evening (7/25/2026) with my sister and we shopped around for a bit. I've been to this store before a few times but only ever with her. I've heard the nonsense of them trying to sign me up for a card or whatever before. The last time we were here, I signed up for their card. I have a hard time saying no, which is the only reason why I signed up, and I didn't get approved. Which if fine, I wouldn't have used the card anyway. My sister and I check out separately, she goes to one register and I go to another register. The lady ringing me up had short black hair and glasses and was really nice for the most part. She tried to sell me on the sign up for the card. I told her, "no thank you." She tried to give me an example of why I should sign up and how it would benefit me. I told her, "I tried before and was told no, so I don't want to bother with it today and get rejected again. Maybe I'll sign up some other time!" She continues on pushing for me to sign up. A coworker overhears what she is saying to me, and urges me to sign up in store and then if I get rejected to go online and request to have it looked at or something. Genuinely, I'm not kidding, the woman working this register tried for 10 minutes to get me to sign up. I told her no repeatedly and she just kept telling me why I should do it. She would tell me how customers told her this and that, how they've saved hundreds of dollars on this card, how it's free money, ect. I have really bad social anxiety. Like I said before, I have a hard time telling people no. This was an absolute nightmare for me. I just wanted to ring up my items and leave. I honestly should have just left my items and left the store entirely. I cannot believe how much time was spent trying to pressure me to do something I didn't want to do. And I said no! Many times! How many times do I have to say no? I was trying to be nice. I was nice the entire time. This woman was nice the entire time as well, but she was heavily pressuring me to sign up despite me saying no OVER AND OVER AGAIN. The real kicker of this all too, was that my sister didn't even get asked if she wanted to sign up at all. I guess I should have just sticked with her and rang my stuff up with her. Please let your workers just accept no for an answer. This was a nightmare. I never want to shop here again. I left the store having a near breakdown in my car because genuinely, it is so hard for me to have interactions like this where I am being pressured and I have awful social anxiety and just anxiety in general. PLEASE tell your workers to stop pushing people if they say no. This was RIDICULIOUS!!! I'm going to start telling people at these stores that if they try to sell me on their sign ups I'm going to just leave without buying anything because this was absolutely insane.

With so many State employees, "good enough for government work" fits a little too well. We've gained better boba spots since the pandemic, though still not at the Bay Area level. And from all the Bay Area people that I've met, they like Sac's housing prices, but miss their favorite restaurants. The Bay Area also has better board‑game cafes, but after my visit to Galaxy Game Cafe, I can say this one feels right at home, and that's good enough in the best possible way. (If you don't know, there's been a trend of Bay Area people moving to Sac). My friend suggested we check it out; he'd been before and enjoyed it. My first impression, was the "X" in "Galaxy" cleverly mimicking an X‑wing. Inside, a gallery of Star Wars 3.75" figures greeted us, with display cases thoughtfully placed throughout the store. It's a fun theme, and the shop fully embraces its geeky niche. A quick glance around the room revealed a game-focused layout. I was surprised because when I hear "cafe," I usually picture coffee, pastries, and light lunch options. If you just want a snack, Galaxy Game Cafe has you covered although there's no blue milk offered. My desire for more food variety was quickly forgotten once I looked at their game selection. I've been to game cafes where pieces are missing, boxes are dirty, or things are disorganized; the kind of place where you end up focusing more on your food than the game. Here, it was the opposite. I enjoyed my snacks and the games. In my small sample size (Dice Forge and Kronologic), everything felt like new. Out of curiosity, I checked Heat for expansions, but they seem to stick to base games, and again, everything looked liked like new. After we finished playing, I placed our games on the return shelf and realized they care enough to check. I appreciated the care they put into maintaining a good gaming experience- isn't that good enough? If you are in the area, I highly recommend them! They also list their board game collection on BGG: https://boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/GalaxyGameCafe

I appreciated the diversity of genres from heavy to light and social games as well as strategy games (I don't like when other places have only light or party games!). We stayed the entire time for Twilight Imperium and were treated well. They didn't rush us out at close as other places do. They allow outside food where others don't. Price is actually reasonable considering their library and the people there are plentiful and diverse too. I haven't tried going to open gaming events where you mingle but can consider that in the future. They host their own monthly Twilight Imperium which I might try out in the future when I am free on the weekend!
