This review is specific to the tire and lube express / automotive department. I was here to get new tires and a new battery for my car. The technicians are good at their jobs, but they are severely understaffed. Even after my car went into the shop, I've waited over 2 hours for my tires and battery to be fixed. Once the car was ready, it took then an additional 45 mins for me to just pay at ge counter. The staff at the counter is not knowledgeable and is extremely inefficient as well. I wish they had at least given an accurate timeline for the task. read more

I wish I could give ZERO star to this store.Based on my first and last experience I have ever had with this store. I Would never ever recommend this place for any one unless you have extra time to waste Waiting On hold and you wanna deal with the worst staff ever, then this would be the perfect choice for you. I called to find out if they have the tires that I'm looking for, they took my call and they put me on hold for 15 mins( that's for the first time only). I tried to call them again , they picked up the phone and hanged up right away. I called again hoping for someone who I can ask or I can talk to, this time I got the Weirdest and the rudest response ever!!!. seemed like an old female picked up my call and I started explaining my frustration , she never let me finish my story asking me if I wanna talk to the manager, so answered he question saying that I would love to " SHE PUT ON HOLD AGAIN FOR 30 MINS THIS TIME AND HANGED UP FINALLY". Where do I start? In a nutshell having shopped and ordered tires from Walmart I would rather spend the 112$ I saved today than to go through another sales experience at Walmart. I wasted so much time and energy to save when it actually cost me more time. (So stressful. I should ordered them from George Oren Tires.) I waited two weeks and five calls later to see if my tires arrived by the fifth call they were found. I was told they arrived two days after I ordered them. This store is always messy, the employees act like they hate their jobs, no one is willing to help, and it's always hot in the store no matter what time of year. I recently bought some chocolate-covered donuts and they were melted before I got to my car. This store is one of the worst Walmarts that I have been to. If you said Walmart was a cheap place for stuff, I'd say that you were wrong. Toys, clothes, and everyday essentials that are comparable to "Target" or "Kmart" quality are still the same price. In fact, if you really wanted quality on the cheap, head out to Marshalls, Ross or TJ Maxx. You can get Diesel shoes for $30 at Nordstrom Rack. Walmart has a bigger selection of stuff compared to other stores which gives you more options to save. I make the drive from San Francisco to Union City, just to check out what options there are for deodorants, toothpaste, hair products, body wash, lotions, and cleaning supplies. People watching like finding big white chicks sitting down on lawn chairs eating McDonald's at the baking section at 2am, is an added 2 stars. Haha. read more

We went to buy cell phones last Tuesday around 3pm. The cell phone kiosk was unattended, so we bided our time looking the literature and phones over, ($29 unlimited text and talk... sounds good to me!). After some time it became apparent noone was coming to help us or the other two customers, so I approached three employees who were engaged in stocking shelves or setting up a display nearby in the electronics department. One asked what I needed and said he'd find the person in charge of phones. A few minutes later he returned and told us the person was on break. When I asked how long the break might be he replied, "Thirty minutes. Or maybe an hour". So we left and went to the Automall location where we didn't buy phones, either. I came in here looking to buy The Evil Within, since Bestbuys didn't have anymore in stock....got there right in front of the PS4 games saw an associate walking with another and she looked back and said "I'll be with you guys in a moment", she then kept walking away. There was another couple there looking to buy a game also....they went up to the cashier in the electronic section to ask for help, that person called over the intercom TWICE to the lady whi walked away with the key. She finally showed up after waiting about 20 min or so. My coworker & I were at Union City Walmart at lunch break today. I wanted to be in and out so I used a SELF CHECKOUT register. I think it is VERY OFFENSIVE that the lady who was in charge of the self checkout asked me if I was paying by EBT. I answered "No".... "STEREOTYPING??".. Customer service desk on returns are totally incompetent and rude. Horrible customer service, they treated us as bad as you can and wasted our time. Made us wait 1.5 hours to return something! Kept blowing us off and in the end were arguing with us saying they can't do the return. Must have blown us off 5-6 times and the store manager was doing it. I never thought I'd find myself writing a review about Wal-Mart, but here it goes. My wife and I needed to get a few things at Wal-Mart and were on 880 on the way home from Dublin. Our exit is Decoto, but she insisted that we go past it to the Fremont Wal-Mart off Stevenson. Me being tired and impatient said "there's no way I'm driving past our exit when there's another Wal-Mart right on the way home!". It can't be that bad. So, I win. We stop. Never again! Personally, I've never cared for the Wal-Mart shopping experience to begin with. I only shop there because it's cheap. Well, let me tell you...the Union City Wal-Mart is the Wal-Mart of ALL Wal-Marts. I mean that in the worst possible way. I'm pretty sure that all the pictures from peopleofwalmart.com were taken here. I don't even know what else to say. My wife wins this one. We will never, ever stop at this Wal-Mart again. I will happily floor the gas pedal past the exit and head to the next one. Oil Change & Tire Rotations I go to WalMart Union City to get my oil changed. Why? Two Reasons (1) It is inexpensive. $30 gets you 5-30W Pennzoil, an oil filter, your other fluid levels checked, all of your lights checked, your battery checked and your air filter checked. In addition they vacuum your car rug. (they don't look under the seat so don't expect a lot.) If you want to upgrade to synthetic or "long-life" oil, you can. The prices are right on the board. Not on the board is their price for installing a different brand (e.g. Valvoline) or the "economy oil change". The economy oil change does not do all the fluid and safety checks. It also uses a house brand oil. - $10.00 to rotate your tires if you did not buy them at WalMart. $40.00 if you want them balanced also. I usually don't balance them. All free if you bought your tires at WalMart. . - $4-$5 for new windshield wipers including installation. (2) They NEVER UP SELL you or pitch services for car. They will tell you that your tire tread is low (and refuse to rotate) but they don't seem to make a commission on the sale. This is so different than BIG-O tires where I used to go for oil change. They were always looking for ways to increase the bill. = = = = = = = = The not so good. (1) I go in the early morning before 7AM so I usually will get out in about 90 - 120 minutes. One of the reasons it takes so long is that they change the oil, and then put the car in line for the tire rotation. I'm sure it would be quicker if I only changed the oil. You are within walking distance of Borders & the movie theater. You can also spend your time inside WalMart. (2) Sometimes you have to wait to check out. A lot of people use the Auto Area's cash register to beat the line at the front. For me, the pluses outweigh the minuses. read more

Try not to have to come here. Location is convenient with plenty of parking. But the store usually seems messy & chaotic. Stuff is everywhere. The "grocery" section is weak at best; wouldn't bother with it again. The toys & electronics sections are cluttered and randomly laid out at times. The best section is outside to get an oil change. Customer service leaves much to be desired also. Don't waste your time here. Go up the road a few hundred feet to Target for a MUCH better experience. read more

Came here willing to spend $500 cash in hand but no one was in the electronics department. Asked around for help but everyone was too busy jacking their own dicks off to help me. Fuckheads said the deparment manager was coming in at 7am and that would be the next time I would be able to make my purchase. So one person carries the only electronic department key? Came to pick up an order I made about a month ago, limited edition batman: Arkham knight. And the email I received said it will be available on release date which was yesterday June 23rd. Well I came to pick it up and it wasn't ready..they said it was in the truck in the back of their store but hasn't been unloaded yet. I had to come the next day to pick it up at around 8 pm...not AM BUT PM! I ordered a month in advance for a $100 dollar + purchase and it's not ready on release date better yet ITS AT THE STORE BUT IN THE TRUCK NOT UNLOADED. For years I have been a loyal customer of the UC Walmart. I am the type of customer that understands the workforce is diverse and not paid well but that is no excuse for lack of basic customer service and courtesy. I am that customer that helps businesses. I routinely point out to management or clerks when I see a spill on the floor or other hazard (like a ladder unattended) that may injure an employee or a customer. I look past the cashier that is opening another line and takes the person behind me. Yup, see this kind of thing very often. I also thank the cashiers and ask how their day is. I hate to admit, but I have spent a lot of money and time in Walmart because I have a tight budget and am trying to survive in the Bay Area. However, I am tired of the way I am treated (or not treated) as a customer. Customer service is a basic skill when you are in retail or have any job with the public. Just today I was in for my weekly Walmart run and picked up a few items before heading to the now sectioned off Cosmetics Department. I picked up several cosmetic items so my items should be checked out there. There was one man in line in front of me. He was going back and forth with the cashier about a coupon that wasn't working. He asked the young woman to call her manager. So she tried to ring him up again and low and behold the manager came and they got the gentleman taken care of and off he went. So, it was my turn to be rung up. This is the specific line where they want the cosmetics to be paid for. I had a few other items in my basket and there was no other customer behind me. I asked her was it okay to have my other items rung up there? She quickly said NO! Are you kidding me? Well, my dear cashier you just rung up a customer that did not have one cosmetic item in his cart. In fact, he had many cans of tuna, water as well as other things. I stood patiently while you rang him up TWICE!! And then you had the manager assist you with his coupon. Why would you treat me differently?!!?? This unequal treatment of your customers HAS to STOP. I'm sick of it. I then left for another register at the front of the store. Another young cashier rang me up as a customer behind me keep pushing my cart into my leg as I was bagging my items. The young male cashier looked at me struggling and never offered to help. I don't expect much from Walmart, but I do expect to be respected as a customer, offered help when needed and treated equally. read more

One of the worst customer service. I went to return Braun hair remover I purchased on Walmart web. It had a rebate of $20 for mother's day purchase. I had been waiting for the rebate for last three months and still did not get it. I called Braun every week after 2 weeks posting and their answer was "It is in process." Finally before return date expiration I called Walmart web customer service and asked them that I want to return the item but I can not return before passing of return date. The agent told me that it will be ok to take it to store and they can take. I took there and nothing happened. They gave me nothing and now I am stuck with it and lost my $20 rebate which I yet to receive it. Very bad Walmart customer relations. Come in to Walmart in Union City by my house and anyone that knows me knows I don't have a lot of time working three jobs. They have not carried my perfume for a good while they totally rearrange the store brought cosmetics from one end of the store to the other end of the store now they have my perfume but there's no one around with the key to help customers. This is totally unacceptable I've been waiting for half an hour and they keep telling me they're trying to locate the key. I brought my car in for an oil change at 8:30am there was only 1 car ahead of me, the car was done at 9am but they had to get clearance from one of the managers before they could release the car! The cashiers made multiple attempts to call a manager but it took almost half an hour before a manager showed up. You need to find better people to run this store read more

I have to come here only because this is where the company credit card is. The only nice people are the greeters and thats because they have to be. Its there job. Most of the associates make it look like they are working but they just dont want to answer your questions and try to avoid eye contact like if i dont look at them then they cant see me. the people that come here are usually GHETTO as hell and do they always have to have someone out front asking for donation for their usually fake cause. Hi, on March 28 of 2015, on or about 1:50 p.m. my 73 year old mother was hit in her back by an employee from this Walmart. The employee was moving some merchandise from the Customer Service department using a shopping cart. The cart was loaded all the to the top, impeding the visibility of the employee. The impact was so violent, that my mom is still in pain. I am attempting to get Walmart pay for the medical expenses and would like to gather any additional witnesses in case we have to go to court.
