Weymouth Walmart -- 740 Middle Street, Junction of Route 53, Weymouth Interior
    Brandon K.

Yikes. This is definitely still not one of the better Walmart stores. I used to actually be ok. Now it's one of the worst Walmart stores. First: it's not renovated, as most of the other Walmart stores in the area. Not that many of the Walmart stores in this area are much better (the Quincy location is far worse,Hanover location is about tied, and Avon is MUCH better). Yet, very disappointed with my experience on 12/30/13, when this store would not match a price from their website over a large gift I was purchasing for a family member for late for Christmas. Since it was a large item, and already late, I made the trek here because none of the other stores in MA had it (besides one in Worcester & Whitinsville, which I didn't either know at the time). The manager wasn't very friendly and the cashier was extremely slow. Very disappointed. Only go if you have to, otherwise the Avon Walmart is SO much better. UPDATE: Walmart in Weymouth is still not the best it could be. That said, they did renovate recently and it looks somewhat better. They didn't really do that much, but improved and expanded the grocery and added more modern signs and new price scanners throughout the store. Staff are still not the best. Barely any lines are open... at least they added Self Checkout (my fav). Good improvement, but not to the best extent it should have been. They keep trying to do the littlest possible to make the store better.... unfortunately, it isn't working. The Walpole and Avon locations are the places to shop. 3 stars.

Every time I go in, I find more than I planned for or really need, but it seems like I really need- meals, meats, seafood, a decent grocery section and some specialty breads. The line for lunchtime sammies and specials can be a little daunting sometimes but the staff works to keep things moving along, getting food prepared and in the right waiting hands as quickly as possible. Speaking of the staff, in my experience they're helpful, professional and personable, without exception. This, the (original) Weymouth store is small but mighty! They have some dry goods, some veggies, but their big thing seems to be the freezer in the corner, their raw meats, and the hot and cold food counter that caught my eye. They definitely have their fans, one of which took home their American Chop Suey and meatball sub, and was planning to drench it with more of their tasty sauce at home, that they already had from a previous visit. I went with their large Tom Turkey Sandwich for $10.95 (Thanksgiving sandwich) and paid at the register on the other side of the room. It was large indeed, and stuffed full. The only improvement would be if they'd have toasted the bread. Gotta remember to ask them to toast it before filling it, next time!

Was shopping as usual at this location besides other same company's in the area and I usually go in…read morethe mornings to shop up and down each aisle to get the best price for my dollars as most of the shoppers! I check and compare prices from other spots and if on Sale and worth my dollars I will buy it! I check the meat department and the Fish department plus prices for bruised or blemished fruits and vegetables that are .99cents a pound that I can prepare the same day or next... I also check for the Yellow Tags which shows it's 50% of the Price. My question and consumer concern IS!!! If the Item let's say Normally $8.99 a pound but this week was on Sale for $5.99 a pound.....if it did not sell by the Freshness Date.....they place a 50% Yellow price label to sell it fast....BUT I FOUND OUT TODAY ITS NOT 50% off as it's Printed because what their practice is from what I was explained by the person behind the Fish Counter : IS THAT THEY BASE THE REGULAR PRICE BEFORE THE SALE EVEN THOUGH THE SALE PRICE IS LISTED AND TOOK 50% OFF THE REGULAR PRICE AND "NOT" on the SALE PRICE WHICH IS ON THE LABEL! So my CONUNDRUM IS..... IS IT REALLY 50% OFF ? I Think Not! If you're going to put a Yellow Label of 50% off and a PRODUCT THATS ALREADY ON SALE, IT SHOULD BE 50% OFF THE SALE PRICE AND NOT WHAT IT WAS BEFORE THE SALE... Love to hear that rationale from STOP N SHOP Corporate! As an Example I also Shop at SHAWS AND HAVE PURCHASED MANY ITEM WHEN MARKED 50% it's OFF AT SHAWS ON THE LOWEST POSTED PRICE! Thats the Right Mindset! And another Comparison so have found in SHAWS THEIR BAKERY GOODS IS ALWAYS 50% OFF WHEN PLACED IN THE DAY OLD SECTION, BUT, STOP N SHOP IS ONLY 33% OFF when they Markdown their Day Old... funny that for Bakery Goods for the same day use I ALWAYS CHECK OUT SHAWS and Buy them there! But most of the times you really need to be Vigilant when shopping and Yes both Markets do have some great savings if you look and compare!

It didn't used to be this way but the past four or five months the shopping experience here has been steadily declining. Today at noon'ish, the hot foods counter was bare. Absolutely nothing in the trays. The cold foods were full but- tired looking. I no longer get anything from the prepared foods anyway, as I was on the losing end of an interrogation about potato salad last month (. . . and exactly why is it orange?) that was never going to provide an answer from the uninformed employee. Today, I did get prepared chicken salad this trip as it's delicious when it's made to their original recipe (rotisserie chicken, mayo, celery) but not so much when the chef skips the mayo. And celery. It looks like it has everything in it this time, so I'm hoping. Today in Produce, I did find two tomatoes on the vine. Not the delicious, locally-grown ones I found in here last week, but beggars can't be choosers, so I grabbed the last ones. Last week it was scallions. No scallions- why? That day, the helpful employee didn't deny it was odd, he just shrugged and said, "Maybe in a couple of days?". I could maybe excuse the empty shelves and the clueless employees except for the cashiers who know better than the customer. Today was the third visit I asked the employee conducting a painfully slow checkout process not to squash everything in my order into only one of my shopping bags but . . . nah, he knew best. so all went in one bag. Then he backed the cart out of his way into the line of people waiting patiently behind me, (insted of pulling it forward) saying, "You want your cart?" Why do I want that cart? I'm happy to put it back in the cart line without you running some poor woman's foot over with it, but sure, I'll drag the cart around the counter and through the line because I'm standing at the end of the counter emptying half of what's in one of my bags and filling the second bag with it anyways, so . . . I started shopping at TFM for the quality, the variety of unusual items and the pleasant employees who were helpful, doing a job, and trying to do it well. No clue what's happening, but I can't annoy myself here any more. But now I have to find Malted Milk Balls somewhere that even come close to TFM ones, and that's not gonna happen anytime soon!
