The location is amazing. After their reopening, the food was better than before. However, it gets worse every time I'm there. Positive; - the service and wait staff is exceptional. -the bread is fresh and warm. - the daily soups are always a good bet. - my husband loves the catfish every time we visit. - the espresso martinis are also delicious. Negatives: - the fish and chips is not authentic. It tastes like a piece of fish coated in cake batter. Horrible. - I ordered crab legs and they were dried out and cold. It seemed as I was served a forgotten dish that was reheated on a plate. The drawn butter was also cold. It was very disappointing. -additionally I was told I would be charged $121 for one pound of crab legs. It was not 1 pound and I was charged $148. I sent the crab back. I believed after their reopening, the food would be better, but, I'm not sure the new menu will live up to the expectations of the patrons as it has already starting to decline in food quality. read more

We stood at the front desk that was not staffed for about 6 minutes while we looked at a room with open tables and open bar seating. No menu was available to view at the door do we asked for one. After reviewing it and seeing several options we indicated we would like a table for two. We were barked at by the waitress saying nothing was available for at least 40 minutes. I asked about the open seats and was told that would be okay as she walked away. I guess we were to seat ourselves but instead we left. Rude behavior and unfriendly behavior should not be rewarded. It's was a Wednesday evening and many other options were available. I won't be going back and neither should you. read more

As promised, I went back to Walt's Wharf in Seal Beach hoping things would be back to the way they were before the fire. I'm really glad I did. Happy to report: the food is excellent again and the service is fantastic. Big shoutout to Diana, the new manager, for clearly putting in the work to bring this place back to its old glory. If you're in the Seal Beach area, don't miss the chance to enjoy some great fresh seafood. The caramelized salmon is outstanding, and the clam chowder is as good as ever. Decided to come checkout the remodeled Walt's last minute for a drink and ended up staying for a couple appetizers a few more drinks. The whole reason being Jennifer! Right from the start she greeted us with so much love you could just feel her great energy. Honestly the best service that me and my friend could remember having in a long time. Basic structure is good but needs IMPROVEMENT on food quality. Atmosphere, staff, aromas were wonderful. Food failed. Smoked fish platter was terrible. No-flavor salmon. Albacore a bit better. The need a better quality fish supplier. Famous Caesar salad lost its 50-year dressing replaced by less tasty one. And "fresh grated" Parmesan cheese was waxy and appeared pre-made: like out if a bag! The pasta with Parmesan and butter sauce was a liquid bowl of soup The Peruvian ceviche was weak in its flavor too. Finally the wine selection was limited. Told its really a soft opening for this place. Nearly all the wine was from their own average winery called Babcock. Ugg. Hoping they improve substantially on their food tastes and quality as well as wine selection. Otherwise I will have to down grade my review. read more

We for lunch today. It was pretty busy. I haven't been here since before the renovations. It looks nice inside. Welcoming entry way. Most important thing is food right so let's get into it. First with drinks I ordered a ginger basil drink, and it was very refreshing. We also had the blackberry lemonade and that was delicious. Had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and it was fine. Waitress mentioned that the soup of the day was similar to a Manhattan chowder, but without the clams lol whaaaat? Get out of here ! Did they make that into my disappointing cippiono.Had a wedge salad and they forgot the bacon. I give the wedge salad at 3/5 given the price. Calamari was good and also the coconut shrimp for appetizers. Main entrées this is where there is disappointment the scallops and rock shrimp fettuccine Alfredo had such tiny pieces of seafood, but the flavor was there. This dish is definitely better served and ate immediately. We had some left over and we took it home and reheated it and it definitely was not the same so I definitely don't recommend it because When we brought it home, it was very oily. The biggest disappointment was the cioppino wow in the photo. Doesn't it look delicious? Well the shells were mostly shells. The flavor of the soup tasted very smoky. Maybe they threw in leftover blackened white fish in there and as you can see in the photo, the sourdough bread was burnt. For a $47 dash this was definitely the most disappointing plate. There was seven of us and we definitely did some damage on the check. We had a birthday and they didn't even offer a free dessert for the birthday girl! For the $$$$ we spent somebody better give a free dessert. Hello! I hope management is reading this- give your customers a free dessert if they choose to dine there for their birthday!!! You can afford it!! Service was good. They brought me the wrong drink once, and I had to follow up on the glass of wine once. Then there was the wedge salad without bacon bits. Anyways, the fish company in Los Alamitos is way better for the money spent. Mostly old retired clientele at Walt's Wharf. So if you're looking for a vibe, it ain't really there in my opinion. This the is the first time we've been back since the restaurant opened for lunch. I had the albacore sandwich, grilled artichoke, my husband had the fish n chips, our friends had the ahi tuna sandwich and the ono fish plate. The restaurant looks great with the remodel. The service was excellent. Something has changed here. It is the food. The artichoke had hardly anything on it for your teeth to sink into with a itty bitty heart. It was dry and overburnt. It was a total waste of money. The albacore sandwich was blah. I did like the Walts salad that I upgraded to. The other comments from the table included the batter used to coat the fish was too smooth-no nooks or crannies like before. Fries were too greasy/soggy. The ahi and ono dishes were just okay. They didn't eat the entire dish. I think the food is overpriced especially for the albacore sandwich and the artichoke. It was a disappointing experience since this is or was our go to place to meet friends that drive down from LA. We'll probably go elsewhere for our get togethers in the future. read more

The food is the best if you visit this restaurant and get the salmon as it is one of the most delicious in the mashed potatoes. The food is just perfect. Tasty fresh. I cannot say enough of this restaurant. Our server, Jillian, deserved 5+ stars. She was very attentive and friendly! The food wasn't as good as we remembered in the past. The Walt's Salad was very good. Green beans were fresh and slightly crispy in all 3 dinners. But the bacon wrapped scallops was just OK...it would have been better with just lemon and butter instead of the overpowering sauce. Couldn't taste the bacon on the 3 scallops. Ask for the mango salsa on the side. The red trout almondine dinner was enjoyed by our friend. The worst dinner was the Alaskan King Crab...taste was ok but the amount that was served was not worth the price charged (over $140)! Instead of large king crab legs with the spikey shells full of meat, my husband was served 3 skinny, long legs(no claws) cut lenghthwise in half. Not sure if we'll be returning any time soon....Will try our other "go to" seafood restaurant, Captain Jacks and compare. read more

The last two dinner experiences have been amazing! First off, Diana is amazing! It is truly rare to see a manager as engaged and helpful as she is, assisting the servers to ensure the customers come first. Christina is also a rockstar. My Aunt is very picky; especially when it comes to servers. She loves Christina. Coffee is hot. Food comes quick. She's always ready to box up the leftovers. I had the absolute best fish & chips today and it had the yummiest best batter!!! The coleslaw was wonderful and not too much mayonnaise. I also tried a cup of that clam chowder, and it was so fresh and not overpowering with cream. I have never been to Walt's Wharf before the remodel, but it was just beautiful inside. The staff was so kind and attentive. I had a friend visiting me from Santa Monica and I am so glad I brought her here! I will for sure be back! I purchased a gift card from their website and did not receive the e-gift card via email. I called and spoke with the manager Joe who told me that I had to call toast tab for help. I called the number he gave me and was told that they needed to receive a call from Joe. I called Joe and requested a call back. He did not return my call so I called again the following day. I spoke with him and he did not allowed me to a speak stating that I needed to resolve this issue with toast tab. I tried to explain again that he needed to call and he told me that he would not make the call. At the end, the hung up the call stating if I head ears I could hear what he was saying. I was charged for a gift card I never received. DO NOT BUY A GIFT CARD FROM THEIR WEBSITE BECAUSE IF YOU HAVE ISSUES JOE, WHO IS THE MANAGER, WILL DEFER TO SOMEONE ELSE AND WILL NOT HELP YOU RESOLVE THE ISSUE. read more

I'm so glad that the restaurant is open again. They did a spectacular job remodeling it. They upgraded the interior while staying true to the restaurant's original look/feel. After much anticipation of revisiting the newly re-opened restaurant, we were very disappointed. Our server, Hanna was great, as was our food runner, wish I would've gotten her name. These two young ladies were the positive. First off, no wine list. In the past, they had some of the best wines. A glass of mediocre cab was $18! We were anticipating the clams and they were out; however, the Oysters were good. I wanted the ahi tuna and ... they were out of this too :/ Food was just ok and our bill was $363 plus gratuity. Well ... tonight's visit to Walt's Wharf was ... womp womp. It's a Friday night in downtown Seal Beach, so the wait to get a table was expected. But once we were seated and ordered, the nearly an hour wait for the entrees to arrive was not. The entrees were lukewarm and mediocre. Of our party of seven, only one was satisfied with their entree (Cioppino). The salmon, swordfish and pork chop were all subpar. Such a bummer. Our check was over $400 with tip. It's fair to expect better. Probably an off night. It wasn't all bad though. The drinks were great. The salads were good. The bread and the calimari were tasty. Our server was friendly. Walt's has been one of our family favorite's for decades. It was our first time back since the fire. We may give it one more shot, but with some trepidation. read more

They're back! They reopened last week and food is great as always. Service is amazing and the ambiance is great. Most of the menu items are new. The Hawaiian Ono was a little under season but still good. Fish and chips is delicious as it always has been in the past. I wanted so bad to leave a 5 stars because I've been waiting for Walt's to reopen for almost 2 years now. My family and I used to regularly get clam chowder from here before the fire. After today, i'm incredibly disappointed. We ordered 4 bowls and this is what we got per bowl. The soup used to be full or at least 3/4 of the way. I reconfirmed with the host if this is correct and she confirmed this is 9 oz. I am appalled. We went home to measure it ourselves and what do you know, the measurements are off. It's not acceptable to lie to your customers. You can charge more and we're willing to pay no problem, but do not cheat like this. read more
