Ok sooo here is the deal. Twice in one week to Walt's wharf. I gave it a 5 and here is why. 1. The food was amazing Salmon was great had both dishes The ribeye cooked spot on and delicious Asparagus cooked perfectly and yummy Artichoke was great Walt's salad - mustard vinegarette was actually perfect...surprised Sauces amazing..except steak sauce it was ok...but maybe I'm not a big steak sauce person Meyer's lemon cake exceptional Crème Brele very good Mud pie good Babcock Chardonnay was good and I'm a wine snob Service The two waitresses I had were very personable.. I am not easy to serve...I tip well but make lots of requests...the second waitress I had...I asked for two things I never got,..but I got over it...not worth lowering my whole experience to a 4... Visited on 7/10 around 12:30. Receptionist was nice. Waitress came pretty quick, friendly, brought drinks quickly said she'd bring a 2 cokes and water but never brought the water. 10 minutes later asked if we wanted bread, said yes, and brought it 20 min later ugh. Buns are so warm and delish. Ordered pasta shrimp but was very small and mediocre for $32. Ordered fish and chips. Fish was amazing just wish the batter was seasoned more. Fries were cold and pathetic not even hand done, cole slau was dry and disappointing. Really I only ate the fish a shame since that dish cost $28. Waitress ended service with did you want water? Yeah, about 45 minutes ago! Parking is almost none and drivers will kill you trying to get to an open space first. read more

Reviews are always good for this place, but our two last experiences were not so good. Gave this a second shot after their soft opening (no bottles of wine being sold back then because the bartender said they were trying to get rid of their stock) What?! Food wasn't spectacular. So tried Walt's again. Not even busy for a Saturday night. They are back to selling bottles (nothing under $50ish) and we ordered a Sauvignon Blanc wine that our server put in a wine bucket and said I'll only pour a little because it needs to chill. It must have been on a shelf somewhere because it was lukewarm. (Strike one) My husband ordered mussels and the server asked him if he would like them the "regular way" and he said yes. And we ordered a coconut shrimp appetizer. Mussels were delivered with spicy jalapeños and he said, I guess I should have asked what their "regular" way meant. He ate them anyway. Later, our server checked back and said, "Oh, I think you got the wrong mussels, can I get you the right one?" (Too late) He said they weren't that great anyway, small and a lot didn't even open. (Strike two) The Coconut shrimp looked beautiful but was hard as a rock and inedible. (Strike three) Didn't finish them. We each had one. 6/21/2026 First time there for lunch. I had cioppino and it was terrible. Scrapped scallop, fish, and just half a lobster and three shrimps and it was salty. Used to love this place. First time back in a few years last Friday afternoon. Seated at a nice window table. Server showed up about 10 minutes later. Ordered mocktails, chowders, wedge salad and ono for me and my hubby. Had to ask for bread. Chowders came out. Pretty good, no drinks. Salad came out, good. Still no drinks. Waited about 15 minutes for drinks. Ono came out steaming. It was like fish jerky. Sent back didn't want anything else. So disappointed and parking is awful, I think there was 3 or 4 spots designated for Walt's. Still love Seal beach but Walt's is not like it used to be. read more

Walt's is the clear winner of the best crab cakes since Spaghettini and 5 Crowns succumbed to sticky fillers and lack of lump, crab that is! Walt's kicks taste and size butt, with fresh, hunks of crab in every morsel coming in a $28.00 for two. Spaghetti's new offering will set you back a staggering $44.00 for 2 smaller, filler laden, no lump in sight cookie cutter version! I know the cakes, and let them know about the disappearance of the lump in the cakes they are known for and the reason I sojourn there. When queried about the stark changes in the crab cakes, there was denial, fault with kitchen not adhering to the famous recipe, then reluctance in removing our two scant portions from the bill. They finally did! I know food is expensive these days, but when we splurge $88.00 on crab cakes as appetizers , please deliver our favorites with lots of lump!!!! read more

Basic structure is good but needs IMPROVEMENT on food quality. Atmosphere, staff, aromas were wonderful. Food failed. Smoked fish platter was terrible. No-flavor salmon. Albacore a bit better. The need a better quality fish supplier. Famous Caesar salad lost its 50-year dressing replaced by less tasty one. And "fresh grated" Parmesan cheese was waxy and appeared pre-made: like out if a bag! The pasta with Parmesan and butter sauce was a liquid bowl of soup The Peruvian ceviche was weak in its flavor too. Finally the wine selection was limited. Told its really a soft opening for this place. Nearly all the wine was from their own average winery called Babcock. Ugg. Hoping they improve substantially on their food tastes and quality as well as wine selection. Otherwise I will have to down grade my review. read more

First with drinks I ordered a ginger basil drink, and it was very refreshing. We also had the blackberry lemonade and that was delicious. Had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and it was fine. Waitress mentioned that the soup of the day was similar to a Manhattan chowder, but without the clams lol whaaaat? Get out of here ! Calamari was good and also the coconut shrimp for appetizers. Main entrées this is where there is disappointment the scallops and rock shrimp fettuccine Alfredo had such tiny pieces of seafood, but the flavor was there. This dish is definitely better served and ate immediately. We had some left over and we took it home and reheated it and it definitely was not the same so I definitely don't recommend it because When we brought it home, it was very oily. The biggest disappointment was the cioppino wow in the photo. Doesn't it look delicious? Well the shells were mostly shells. The flavor of the soup tasted very smoky. Maybe they threw in leftover blackened white fish in there and as you can see in the photo, the sourdough bread was burnt. For a $47 dash this was definitely the most disappointing plate. There was seven of us and we definitely did some damage on the check. We had a birthday and they didn't even offer a free dessert for the birthday girl! For the $$$$ we spent somebody better give a free dessert. Hello! I hope management is reading this- give your customers a free dessert if they choose to dine there for their birthday!!! You can afford it!! Service was good. They brought me the wrong drink once, and I had to follow up on the glass of wine once. Then there was the wedge salad without bacon bits. Anyways, the fish company in Los Alamitos is way better for the money spent. Mostly old retired clientele at Walt's Wharf. So if you're looking for a vibe, it ain't really there in my opinion. The location is amazing. After their reopening, the food was better than before. However, it gets worse every time I'm there. Positive; - the service and wait staff is exceptional. -the bread is fresh and warm. - the daily soups are always a good bet. - my husband loves the catfish every time we visit. - the espresso martinis are also delicious. Negatives: - the fish and chips is not authentic. It tastes like a piece of fish coated in cake batter. Horrible. - I ordered crab legs and they were dried out and cold. It seemed as I was served a forgotten dish that was reheated on a plate. The drawn butter was also cold. I had the absolute best fish & chips today and it had the yummiest best batter!!! The coleslaw was wonderful and not too much mayonnaise. I also tried a cup of that clam chowder, and it was so fresh and not overpowering with cream. I have never been to Walt's Wharf before the remodel, but it was just beautiful inside. The staff was so kind and attentive. I had a friend visiting me from Santa Monica and I am so glad I brought her here! I will for sure be back! As promised, I went back to Walt's Wharf in Seal Beach hoping things would be back to the way they were before the fire. I'm really glad I did. Happy to report: the food is excellent again and the service is fantastic. Big shoutout to Diana, the new manager, for clearly putting in the work to bring this place back to its old glory. Our server, Jillian, deserved 5+ stars. She was very attentive and friendly! The food wasn't as good as we remembered in the past. The Walt's Salad was very good. Green beans were fresh and slightly crispy in all 3 dinners. But the bacon wrapped scallops was just OK...it would have been better with just lemon and butter instead of the overpowering sauce. Couldn't taste the bacon on the 3 scallops. Ask for the mango salsa on the side. The red trout almondine dinner was enjoyed by our friend. The worst dinner was the Alaskan King Crab...taste was ok but the amount that was served was not worth the price charged (over $140)! Instead of large king crab legs with the spikey shells full of meat, my husband was served 3 skinny, long legs(no claws) cut lenghthwise in half. Not sure if we'll be returning any time soon....Will try our other "go to" seafood restaurant, Captain Jacks and compare. read more

This the is the first time we've been back since the restaurant opened for lunch. I had the albacore sandwich, grilled artichoke, my husband had the fish n chips, our friends had the ahi tuna sandwich and the ono fish plate. The restaurant looks great with the remodel. The service was excellent. Something has changed here. It is the food. The artichoke had hardly anything on it for your teeth to sink into with a itty bitty heart. It was dry and overburnt. It was a total waste of money. The albacore sandwich was blah. I did like the Walts salad that I upgraded to. The other comments from the table included the batter used to coat the fish was too smooth-no nooks or crannies like before. Fries were too greasy/soggy. The ahi and ono dishes were just okay. They didn't eat the entire dish. I think the food is overpriced especially for the albacore sandwich and the artichoke. It was a disappointing experience since this is or was our go to place to meet friends that drive down from LA. We'll probably go elsewhere for our get togethers in the future. read more
