I've been trying so hard to find someone to go to consistently that is near my house, good and thorough, flexible and accommodating. THIS IS NOT THAT PLACE. I bought a deal on Lifebooker and had tried to book an appointment once before. After playing lots of phone tag with this woman, we finally spoke on the phone, and she was completely unable and unwilling to accommodate me. I explained to her my situation - I am a freelancer on photo shoots, I never know the days I am working, and I never know when I'm going to be done with work for the day - and I understand it is not her problem I do not know my schedule. However, it would be in good business for her to try to work with me. I was told to book two weeks in advance if I wanted to ever get in there. I left it alone until today. I called her and left a message, which she returned in about an hour. I figured, okay, I need to book two weeks in advance, I can plan for that for once, so I will. The deal I purchased was for two waxes and expires April 1st, and I was curious to know what would happen to my second wax considering how I had tried in the past and she was unable to accommodate me. She said I'd forfeit my other wax, and when I asked if I could at least book it by April 1st, she straight up told me to get a refund from Lifebooker!! I could hear her smiling over the phone, too, when she said it. As if she is THAT incredible and THAT much of a deal that she doesn't need my business. TRUST ME, I DON'T WANT TO GIVE YOU MY BUSINESS. Listen, bitch. There are mad more waxing places that exist in this city, and they exist without the shitty Long-Island-bitch-with-a-smile smug attitude you have. I almost wish that I did get to visit your place of business so I could take a shit on your table. Maybe you should value your customers more - new, potential ones at that - and realize that your hours are IMPOSSIBLE. You suck so hard.

Pain Factor: Pain was considerably less than at another waxing place (a place known for speedy and inexpensive waxes), but you can still feel the pain. Embarrassment Factor?: FYI: Unlike other places, Leslie doesn't make you do weird poses in order to do a clean job. Afterwards: After the waxing, the hair grew back much slower than after other waxings.. Leslie says the difference is that she actually pulls the roots out and doesn't break the hair like other places. It was my inaugural wax experience, and the technician, with over 10 years of experience, was not only a pro but also made me feel comfortable since she knew it was my first time. During this appointment, I waxed my legs, bikini area, and underarms. It wasn't as painful as I anticipated. The two stars I'm giving are solely because she was amazing. Then, in February, I visited the Hoboken location. I didn't select or research the technicians; I assumed they'd all be as amazing as my first experience. I booked a bikini and underarm wax. Upon arrival, the greeting wasn't overly warm, but I didn't mind, understanding that people have bad days. However, I distinctly remember being struck by the absence of smiles. When asked who I booked with, I replied that I booked with anyone. A young girl then took me to the back. She seemed very nervous. She began with my underarms, and it was evident she didn't quite know what she was doing -- very timid movements. Trying to make small talk, I asked her how long she'd been there. She replied less than a month, and I was surprised, asking where she was before. She had just graduated from school. I then inquired how many clients she had seen, to which she replied I was her second customer. I considered leaving immediately, especially when I found the underarm waxing more painful than I anticipated. However, I understood that people need experience to grow. That was a mistake. When we reached the bikini area, I experienced the most excruciating pain I've ever felt since giving birth. It was so intense; I felt like I was going to pass out. It was incredibly traumatic, and I believe the technician was traumatized as well. She had no idea what she was doing, and I'm sure the other technicians heard my cries. What bothered me the most was that the team knew she lacked experience and still assigned her to take care of a customer. I don't blame her; I blame the team for not adequately training her. Even if they didn't know it was only my second time waxing, why assign an untrained technician to perform a bikini wax? I left, smiling through the pain, paid, tipped, and went home. To make matters worse, I ended up with the largest ingrown hair I've ever had near the entrance of my genital area. I couldn't sit down properly for a week; it was the size of a flipping cherry. In the same spots. I don't know how i refrained from not going off. I came there less than two weeks ago and the hair is already growing back , it itches so bad , i have ingrown and bumps. As I was being treated by a Colombian immigrant, I was reluctant to tell her just how bad a job she was doing (going very fast), causing me too much pain for the thin, not fully grown out hair I had. I was surprised to be hurting as much as I did given the better wax, but it wasn't the wax but the person and the hurried method. I was being treated to a quick and shoddy job, yet the pre-set tip was expected. (I still regret I paid her the full tip out of pity rather than for the job done.) Within 24 hours I started feeling tingling painful sensations in my crotch and hair was growing out. The pain soon started turning to bumbs and itching, and for the first time in 45 years I had a bumpy and irritated skin. The hair had all been broken rather than pulled out. It is now less than a month, and the hair is nearly an inch long. When waxing is properly done, it takes more a month for the hair to start growing out. I called the location to compain a 8 days later, and was told that their manager would contact me. It's now two weeks or more after that and I was never contacted. Do yourselves a favor and boycott these chains that exploit workers who then mishandle clients. You can get your painful waxes and impersonal treatments where you can feel dehumanized like a factory animal at Chinese joints for less money. You don't want the same shitty experience for a lot more money. I understand the staff are poorly trained, incompetent, and underpaid, but if I relied on people's tips I'd try not to damage their skin. I'm in my 40s and have more than two decades of experience being waxed in many countries in Europe (from eastern to western) and in NYC, and NYC is by far the worst experience every single time, regardless of how fancy they're supposed to be because they charge you exorbitantly. I get waxed in France multiple times a year for a fraction and barely feel the effect of hair being pulled, because they're well trained professionals and take pride in a job well done.

I got a wax but during the wax, the lady was on the phone the whole time with someone else speaking Russian. She did not try to communicate with me at all. There was wax and remaining hairs leftover in my area that was waxed. Sometimes other waxers will clean it up for you with tweezers, but not here. After the wax she did not give me any instruction for aftercare and I had to ask what to do. I would not come back here again.

She gave me a mirror for the part she finished but not the next part to check. When I got home I still had spots that were not taken care of that I had to do myself. I am paying for a service. I was almost in tears and splashing cold water all over my face. What really turned me off was, although she can be pleasant and nice, she has made rude comments in previous appointments but I let them go as I thought maybe we are just culturally different. This time (the second time she burned me and ripped off skin) and I was in pain, she was unsympathetic, looked at me with disdain with a mean face (as though I was overreacting when you could see my skin torn off) and blamed ME and my skin as being the problem. I was VERY understanding and kind about this and REALLY thought perhaps it was just me..until I read other reviews online. She has had this issue before and is irresponsible and doesn't take accountability and blames others. No cultural differences. She showed she's just not that nice of a person. Furthermore, as a test on myself, later when my hair grew out I had some hard wax at home (just a cheap hard wax brand) and decided to do a test wax to see if possibly my hormones had just changed a lot and my skin was too sensitive. I did this a day before my monthly cycle (when the skin is the VERY most sensitive) and used a cooling gel after just to make sure it was not reacting to wax OR cooling gel. Surprise-- not even HALF the pain waxing with this wax and ZERO burn, skin ripping off or redness. It was NEVER me all along and it was her and her awful products. I have never had something happen like that to me in almost 20 years of waxing. I can accept mistakes but seeing others had the same issue and she is dishonest, doesn't take accountability and is rude is enough for me to leave this review. If anything else happens, I'll edit and update my review. Also, here are some things she needs to improve: A) Her prices.. she shows as charging $35 for a Brazilian and $5 for eyebrows.. $40 total... yet I was always charged $65 (and had no extras).. her pricing list needs to be updated and clear.. it's like she just thinks of what she wants to charge you and charges it B) She re-dips the same stick back into the wax about 20-30 times. How is this sanitary? This means that we are essentially being exposed to dozens of other peoples' germs and bodily byproducts, etc. C) It would be nice if she stepped out of the room to give a person decency to get dressed again. Not the biggest deal but would be a nice touch. All in all, I will not be going back there. I looked up another waxing place with great reviews that describes their wax ingredients and, although a few dollars more, I went there and had a nearly painless Brazilian wax, zero burn and no bumps... just another comparison that (AGAIN) reconfirmed it was never me that was the problem but was her and her practices.
