The appetizer was enough for three people and it was delicious! My main order was Thai spiced peanut stir fry, which I was regretfully pretty full from the lettuce wraps. Horrible! We had a party of 8. I overheard the waitress telling the manager that we weren't supposed to have separate checks. Well they allowed separate checks. The checks were all stuffed into the padded folder and left with one of us to pass out. Then we were asked if it was ready to be taken away to be processed. Then receipts and credit cards were stuffed in the folder and dropped off with one person to pass out. Plus we all got charged 20% mandatory tip which we were not informed about prior. I ordered a tempura green beans and when I got home, the batter was mostly fallen off the beans. I have been to this restaurant before and NEVER been treated so shabbily. Had Wang Gang for the first time since I left Edwardsville in 2016. I was curious to see if I would love it as much as I did back then. Will say the crab rangoons are the best I've had anywhere! The Edwardsvillle, Illinois Wang Gang restaurant was a disappointment today. I ordered drunken noodles with tofu and regretted my choice after the first bite. The weird creamy consistency was not the fresh spicy complex flavor I expected but more like a fettucini alfredo sauce at a bad Italian restaurant. Additionally, there were just a few skinny strips of bell pepper, carrot and onion and the tofu squares were dried out and tasteless. I ended up leaving my meal for the garbage disposal. My husband's selection was more flavorful but far too salty. We also suspect the beef or chicken in his stir fry contained msg ( tingling lips and stomachache immediately after the meal). The one positive experience were the tempura green beans. They were crunchy and delicious. The service was average, and the facility was clean. My husband and I got takeout at 5:30 on a Monday night. It took 30 minutes from placing the order to pick-up. When I went to pick it up, the host took every dish out of the bag and went over it with me to make sure it was all there. When getting takeout, I love when they do this. I ordered the potstickers as an appetizer and holy moly they were the best potstickers I have ever gotten. They were so flavorful. I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken as I love a bit of spice. Service was poor from the beginning. The Host left us waiting in the cold lobby for an extended period while he checked seating in the half empty restaurant. Once seated, I noticed tables that had arrived after ours were already ordering food. I had to ask another tables server if she could let whoever was taking care of our section know that we were there. Once we had finished eating it took a little over 20 minutes to get our check. Again, I had to ask another server to please ask ours to bring it to us. I'd like to note we spent upward of 2 hours here, most of that time spend waoting on someone to seat us/take our order/get drinks (never got refills)/boxes/check. The restaurant wasn't that busy, there were always multiple open tables and those that were occupied seemed to have attentive servers and got drink refills and such in a timely manner. We paid our full check and tipped the server, but a member of our party asked the bartender if he could speak to the manager to let them know about our experience. The manager was actually the owner and did not take feedback well. The owner of Wang Gang blamed Covid for our experience and told the member of our party that he's probably been working from home and should be more sympathetic, then made a comment that he should "ask his grandma about Covid." (This individuals grandmother passed away about a week or so ago, not Covid, but highly inappropriate.) This individual told the owner we would never be back and would share this experience with others, the owner followed him out of the restaurant screaming and cursing at him in front of other patrons and people in the parking lot. The owner blames Covid for his establishments inefficiencies and staffing issues, but I suspect he's housing some rage issues that may run good employees away. i can't imagine working for someone like that. We will never be back, the owner should be embarrassed by his behavior. read more

This is a solid go to spot in the Edwardsville area. Well priced for what you receive and consistently good. We have eaten here 5-6 times and the one thing that sticks with me is the employees. So far I have to say very exceptional. So food, service and atmosphere are all very good especially considering the price range. They expanded to the storefront adjacent. Then they moved to a larger spot and we faithfully followed. They have a great happy hour and the most awesome mixed drinks. We noticed small changes in the service, food wasn't as good or not prepared the same. I typically ordered the red or green curry. This place has terrible and unauthentic food. The appetizers aren't bad, but they are hard to mess up. The entrees are dreck - a glutinous mess on a plate. The soups tasteless. The Spicy Thai chicken soup is supposed to have an "essence" of galangal and thai chilies. That's restaurant speak for not adding them at all.
