I've had great experiences at this restaurant in the past -- the food has always been delicious, and my family comes here regularly for brunch. However, today's visit was disappointing. I brought some friends to try it based on my past experiences. After eagerly waiting 45 minutes to be seated, we placed our order about 15 minutes later, only to be told about 10 minutes afterward that the kitchen was out of the item we all wanted (fried chicken their most popular item and in dishes on almost half their menu). It would have been helpful to know earlier if certain items (especially their most popular one) were unavailable or running low before we ordered drinks, which is something most restaurants try to communicate upfront. We kindly asked to speak with the manager, but when she arrived at our table, she already seemed irritated that we had even requested to see her, which was surprising. After we shared our feedback, she didn't apologize and said the kitchen hadn't informed her they were running low, seeming to say that it basically was not her problem. Though I knew it was unlikely based on her attitude, one of my friends asked if the drinks could be comped since we decided to leave without ordering food. The manager immediately -- and quite rudely -- said no. I was so shocked by our interaction that I ended up apologizing while checking out because the situation had become so uncomfortable. She said something to the effect of "it's fine," then quickly walked away, clearly wanting to end the interaction. Our waitress kindly checked us out and apologized profusely which was kind. Despite this, I've personally had a couple positive experiences here before, which is why I'm giving at least 2 stars for those past visits. I hope this was just an off day. I'd be willing to give it another try in the future. read more

If you're looking for a tasty brunch spot, then you got to stop by Wara Brunch Cafe. I've had it bookmarked for a bit and stopped by a couple weeks ago with my husband. It's a brunch spot during the day and then at dinner, it's Shabu Wara Hot Pot. The actual restaurant is going to say Shabu Wara, but you'll see a Wara Brunch Cafe banner on their patio so just look out for that. I had their croffles which are in-between a croissant and waffle and I just loved the texture and tasted yummy with the berries and syrup. I also had their breakfast burrito which has scrambled eggs, potatoes, protein of your choice, and avocado on a spinach wrap. It comes with a lemon garlic herb vinaigrette salad and a side of chipotle sauce. The burrito was flavorful and went nicely with the chipotle sauce. My husband had their steak and eggs with chimichurri sauce, over easy eggs, herb smashed potatoes, toast, and salad. He definitely enjoyed every bite. I also had an iced Ube Latte and Shrek latte (matcha, cinnamon, brown sugar) and both were really good. The Ube was refreshing with yummy ube flavor and the Shrek was earthy, sweet, and comforting. I for sure want to come back and try more of their menu items. The staff is also very friendly and overall just a great spot to stop by for breakfast or brunch! read more

We usually eat here for dinner when it is called Shabu Wara, Japanese hot pot. Delicious. So we've noticed they offer breakfast and the restaurant is called Wara Cafe. So this morning we had breakfast and what an awesome, pleasant and delicious surprise. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food is prepared well and delicious. The menu has enough variety for all palates. Kuro Buta sausage was a yummy change from regular breakfast pork sausage. We will be back We still need to try the sandwiches. I really enjoyed the takeout here. Service was quick and efficient. The food was amazing. We ordered the grilled cheese Croffle, mixed Berry croffle, smoked salmon bagel, and wagyu burger with their potatos and salad for each. The food was filling and good value. When we walked up to see what was taking so long they had a cash only sign out front that wasn't there when they added us to the waitlist. Staff never communicated to us their card reader was down so we waited over 50 minutes to not be able to dine here. Also noticed what looked like the manager not communicating with customers and just having her staff deal with everything. Poor customer service. No communication. Update: after going to atm to pull out cash, ended up going in and seeing if they would seat us. Food was good and waitress was excellent but no one ever acknowledged that they never called us from the waitlist. We ended up waiting over an hour but have been here multiple times and the food is great. Service is so so. read more

They now do brunch which we were pretty stoked about. Saw the pics on Yelp and had to give them a try. It must've been intern day cause the girls were pretty hesitant and not very welcoming. They weren't busy and we had to wait for no apparent reason. They were chitchatting amongst each other while we sat at the table crossed arms menu closed and making it blatantly obvious we're ready to order. I had to grab their attention with a "HEY!" Before a server came. Food was presentable but lacked flavor. Maybe our mood was dampened by the service initially. Who knows. Maybe we'll give them another try on another day. Awesome local spot to get brunch! I am so glad to have found this hidden gem because there are not many brunch options in Chino. Parking lot has plenty of parking and there is indoor and outdoor seating. In the evening this place turns into a wagyu shabu restaurant! All the dishes I got here were super delicious but I HIGHLY recommend the fried chicken and croiffle. IT'S SO GOOD!! For the doubters who think this little place that's tucked away for breakfast or soup is a non choice I reach out to you and say go there. The food was simply delicious. The service staff is spot on to make you happy. We came for breakfast but I saw they had Chicken Tortilla soup as a special for the day. I was here for breakfast but couldn't pass up a chance to try this rarity with the cook. Wow, was I surprised. I'm here to tell you this was probably the BEST that I've ever tasted. I understand the chef is an excellent soup maker, so will be back for that. My wife had the bacon and egg breakfast which she said was terrific. The candied bacon was incredible, a real treat, she gave me a bite. The service was spot on to anything we needed. Very clean and spacious dining area. We most definitely will be back. I really wanted to like this place, but our experience was disappointing from start to finish. We waited 45 minutes just to be seated, and once we were finally at our table. After placing our order, they waited another 10 minutes to tell us that the dish we all wanted was sold out--something they could have mentioned much sooner. It's frustrating that a restaurant wouldn't keep track of their inventory, especially for a popular menu item. I honestly believe they were ending brunch in an hour or so and they just didn't want to go through the trouble... To make matters worse, when we asked to speak with the manager, she was passive-aggressive and dismissive. We kindly explained why we were disappointed and even suggested ways to handle situations like this better in the future, but instead of listening, she was combative and passive aggressive. We ordered the fried chicken croffle, breakfast burrito, and Australian wagyu burger and they were absolutely amazing Fried chicken croffle- a must try, with its fluffy yet crunchy texture is something that is unique to wara cafe. The fried chicken was also very tender and incredible juicy as well. Highly recommend! Breakfast Burrito- a solid breakfast burrito that is comparable to most places. Comes with a side salad that make you feel less guilty when scarfing a giant spinach tortilla wrapped egg, sausage, avocado, and potatoes Australian wagyu- a heavy hitter. A hidden gem in Chino Hills. I am always looking for places for a good breakfast/brunch. This place is a breakfast cafe by day and hotpot by night. Our server was attentive. The place was small but I noticed that people just come and go. The aesthetic and lay out of this place was just ok. I ordered the fried chicken and croffle- serving can be actually good for 2 people. Has salad and the potatoes were so good. It was not the typical side potatoes. I ordered an iced ube latte- too sweet but I am not really good with flavored coffee so I guess my old fashioned hot latte probably better next time. I've been to a lot of brunch spots over the years and WARA has the best brunch menu period. They use top of the line ingredients and made from scratch in the kitchen by the passionate staff. Their croffles are famous so we got that w/ fried chx My avo toast w/ side of salmon had this magical chive cream cheese that made me stop everything after 1 bite! I wish I took a pic of the matcha latte cus it was so So good. The matcha they use is expensive and I can tell cus my mom is a certified tea master n we grew up on the good stuff. Made by a v nice barista I wish I remembered his name! The food was all dangerously good and the price is v reasonable considering what you get these days. We stood inside to stay warm, the hostess comes out and rudely tells us to stand outside in the cold and raining since we shouldn't stand in the restaurant to stay warm. What a little gem! Known for its shabu-shabu in the evening a little known fact is the wonderful breakfast brunch on the weekends. Unique dishes executed very well! I highly recommend the chilaquiles and the chicken & waffles! Now let's talk coffee..... they use Lab coffee bean and make some great unique drinks. One of our favorites is the dirty ube latte! Now on the downside the place is small so seating is limited when the weather is nice there is a small patio. Because of the shabu-shabu at night the place is cold because of the fans so I highly recommend dressing warm when dining in. You can bypass all this by ordering yo go. Been wanting to try this breakfast place for a while now. Glad i finally did. First of, let me tell you how beautiful their coffee arts are!!! I ordered a matcha latte and sis in law ordered a regular latte, blown away by how good both drinks were. The fried chicken croffle was very good. Chicken perfectly golden and crispy, the waffle underneath this huge fried chicken was a perfect compliment to it. But the sauce that came with it, almost inedible, just a big glob of sticky substance. But to be honest it's really not needed. My sis in law ordered the breakfast burrito and she said it was good. It is located in a medical plaza and what's a bit confusing is that in the morning, the restaurant is called Wara Cafe and serves brunch items and at night it transformed into a shabu place.
