Very nice, very tasty! I strolled in on a casual Thursday afternoon. I got a table right away and was served a cold glass of water at the same time I received my menu. This was very refreshing as it was a hot Summer day. I ordered the miso ramen which came with a nice green side salad with ginger dressing. The broth of the soup was the epitome of umami and the noodle's were fresh and had just the right amount of bounce when chewed. The pork belly simply melted in my mouth, and the veggies were tender, slightly crisp and fresh. I can't believe I'm saying this. But I had ramen and I think I liked it! I've never ever been a soup person. I just recently started eating sancocho, which is a staple in any Latin American household. The hubby has been harassing me, yes, harassing! To try ramen with him. I finally gave in, because I was in a good mood? Who knows?! I let the hubby order for me since no one knows my palate better than him. I got the 30 hour ramen with the miso ingredients and pork belly. It's was. Wait for it...... Pretty Amazing! As the hubby watched me without saying a peep because he didn't want to ruin the moment he's been waiting for, I took a spoonful and was truly delighted. The hubby was finally able to breath again. The broth itself was very good. It had a sesame flavor to it. The pork was absolutely amazing. The one thing I was not a fan of, which the hubby was surprised with, was the egg. I can do without. I would have liked the specials to be more visible and legible as they are written on a chalkboard in the back of the restaurant and unless you're seated near it or standing right there, you really can't see it and the specials are never mentioned when you sit down. A little printout would make more sense especially when seated near the entrance. The kimchee was good albeit a pretty small portion. I would have liked the garlic chili edamame to have been salted. The crispy chicken skin was as just as advertised: crispy and tossed with teriyaki sauce. The winner of the evening, however, was the Hakka eggplant because it is amazing. Even my husband thoroughly enjoyed it even though eggplant wouldn't be his first choice. I know everyone suggests the ramen but it was a hot day so not a day for hot soup. Wow. First time here and extremely impressed. The food was super delicious and very fast and friendly service. We had some edamame for appetizer and some steamed shrimp shumai. So darn good. We then had some tempura string beans. Wow. Amazing. My wife had a delicious salmon teriyaki bento box, my kid had a mini chicken ramen bowl, which she loved and I had a take on chicken and waffles that was fantastic. Very interesting spot on Hope Street with a cool, eclectic decor. There's a beautiful painting of a woman among koi and various flowers. The hanging lamps are covered with what appears to be some sort of bamboo and there's a whole shelf of interesting little toys and sculptures that resemble robots and dinosaurs. Service was mellow and friendly. We had the Japanese Mushroom Medley appetizer to start- this is a mix mushrooms and some pepper topped with a very light dusting of Manchego cheese. I was expecting a little more cheese, but the mushrooms were well prepared and very flavorful. For entrees, we both had the OKONOMIYAKI which is basically a large pancake with cabbage, scallion, scallops, shrimp, squid, and bacon. It's covered with BBQ sauce- and BONITO flakes. I had never had BONITO before, but basically, it's a dried tuna, sliced super super thin. The flakes have this wave like appearance and they literally move when the entree is served. The presentation is really cool. I also had this really cool blossoming tea, which was basically a tea with a large dried flower on the bottom that expanded with hot water. It had a lychee / peach flavor and was just yum on a cold day. The other thing I really liked about this place was that it was not crowded or busy and had an overall chill vibe. This is located right on Hope st in the middle of some great shopping! We started with the cauliflower and pork bun apps, and both were lovely. The cauliflower is a must, very yummy and filling! We of course got ramen after that, and although it was satisfactory, my heart is still with Ken's on Washington st. I was looking for more complexity, and it just left me hanging. Certainly tasty, and nothing particularly wrong, all came down to taste for me. The space was ok, bathroom was clean. Not sure if I would come back. read more

I have to echo the recent reviews here and say that our meal was much lower quality than what we had in the past. The preparation was amateurish. Both the greens and the fish were overcooked. The fish arrived on a platter with a cup or two of water. Unclear why, but it did not taste like steamed Bronzini because the fish had lost a lot of its flavor which made the entire dish unbalanced. The cauliflower was not that crispy and arrived in a soup of sweet and sour sauce which was overpowering. The gyoza was ok. Something is terribly wrong. The most recent reviews were a couple months ago and it's disappointing that there's been no improvement since then. read more

Myself and my family have enjoyed this restaurant in Hope Street Village since it opened. We love the relaxed atmosphere, their eclectic menu, and their reasonably priced sake and brunch and lunch entrees. I'm particularly partial to their Okonomiyaki pancake. This a delicious and healthy savory pancake that is plate-sized and is full of chunks of shrimp, squid, and scallops, also cabbage and scallions, and topped with a smoked apple sauce, mayo, and quaking smoked bonito flakes. The bonito flakes literally dance in your plate as these react to the heat of the pancake, adding a fascinating kinetic dimension to your dish, and although very thin(I understand that these are cut from the dried cured fish with a microtome slicer) these flakes provide intense umami tonality to the dish which along with the other flavors tantalize the palate in a sublime manner. read more

Came down here for lunch after the farmers market. It's like a billion degrees out so I opted for something a little different. Typically I get their amazing ramen but today I tried their lunch special sea bass bento box. The sea bass was so perfectly crunchy on the outside yet so flaky on the inside. It had so much flavor. It was accompanied with a delish salad dressed with a tangy peanut dressing. As well as rice, pickled veggies, asparagus topped with roasted ginger/garlic, and a slice of juicy watermelon all for 12 bucks! I of course had to get one of my favorite cocktails in Providence "Taken for Granite". The freshed squeezed lemonaid makes it unbelievably tasty. Service was great as per usual. My boyfriend lives up the street from this place and we always pass it by and talk about trying it. Well..it took a pandemic for us to finally place an order and it was completely worth it. I got the Tan tan ramen and my boyfriend got the miso ramen. The broth for both ramens were spectacularly flavorful and had the right amount of a kick to it. The mushrooms that were in the Tan tan had that nice little chewiness and the ground pork was superb. I will definitely be back here when I'm in Providence again and I'm looking forward to trying some of their other staples. read more

Ooh Wara Wara... you've been eluding me for quite some time. Your long lines and clientele overflowing into the street have kept me away. However, the other night my husband said he wanted Ramen. So, I suggested we give Wara Wara a shot since we'd not been yet. It was a weird time on a Wednesday night and it was dead in there. I'd heard mixed reviews of their Ramen and wanted to see for myself. We started with the $8 Kale salad which was mostly romaine lettuce. Then the Ramen came out. I ordered the tofu and veg ramen. There was a lot left to be desired in the flavor department. There was also minimum heat too. So, I asked for some hot sauce to help it out... still not that great. We ended up paying $40ish for two small bowls of decent soup and some romaine lettuce... probably not terrible in a pinch but not likely on my list of places to return anytime soon. Came here last night with a couple friends. We each got the lychee martini and it was knock your sox off good (and STRONG.) We shared a few starters... The pork gyoza that was up on the specials board - Eh, wasn't a huge fan of the texture and found them a bit underwhelming all around. Crispy Chicken Skin - Yep, CRISPYYY Chickennnn Skinnnnn. So so good and exactly as described. It was crispy, full of flavor and like sneaking a piece of crispy skin from the bird resting on the counter, straight out of the oven... So I ordered this meal last night and due to delivery confusion I never received it. Fortunately GH credited me. Tonight I reordered... Wow! I ordered Miso Soup w extra egg and noodles and steamed Sea Bass. The Sea bass was steamed in pandan leaves w lemongrass, scallions, enoki mushrooms, garlic, ginger, citrus, sesame oil and soy sauce. It was so perfectly prepared and delicious, the fish was so fresh. and moist and the other ingredients bright and clean. The Ramen soup was really good also, the noodles perfectly cooked, the Miso broth mildly flavorful, and the egg and spinach also perfectly cooked (not overdone is key.) This place probably deserves more than three stars, but I didn't love my dinner, so I can't do it. I'm not a ramen expert, so maybe I didn't know what I was ordering. Anyway...my friend and I wanted ramen, so we decided on Wara Wara. We ordered an app of the specials menu. It was called Ma Po Poutine. Like poutine, it had fries. On top of the fries there was sauce and this spicy pork. It was very spicy and very delicious. I should've ordered the pork ramen. I ordered the duck ramen. The duck was cooked very well, and tasted good. My issue was with the broth. It was sweet and tangy and I was expecting something more spicy. Again, this is probably my fault for not reading the menu correctly. I just didn't love the ramen and I left kind of disappointed. read more

Can't believe that this is the first time I'm reviewing this place because it's solidly in my top 10 spots in a city where we are just spoiled rotten for fantastic food. Wara Wara is simply fantastic. The atmosphere is fun and casual (Wara Wara = laugh laugh, from what I've been told, and the space is fun, quirky, cool.) The service is warm, friendly, helpful... essentially spot-on. Our server last night was every bit as enjoyable as the spectacular food and drinks that you'll always be served. The food... it's just spectacular. I cannot go into the place without ordering the crispy cauliflower. Amazing flavor, sweet, spicy, and a touch of mint, it's to die for... trust me. So many amazing small dishes to share... many extremely tasty vegan options, and the ramen... yum... it's fantastic. I recommend the home made ice cream flight for dessert... a great little way to get a variety of flavors and wrap up your meal. I love Wara Wara. You will too. read more

We order 30 hour ramen, miso ramen. We got a serving of salad with some kind of peanut dressing. The amount of noodle they give is enough for two. I finished only 1/2 and enjoyed the 30 hour ramen soup. Both soup was good but the 30 hour soup to me is more flavorful then the miso. Would I go again, probably give it another try. I like my food on the spicy side so maybe I will ask if they can make it spicy next time I visit. read more

The salad that came with our meal was perfectly dressed in Thai peanut sauce; not drenched. Pork Belly Buns were amazing. The sandwich bun it sat in tasted so amazing and had a really nice texture. The pork itself was soft and sweet. My friend ordered the Tan Tan Men which was decent. Too salty for me, as the salt was all I could taste. On the spicy side too which I'm not a fan of. I chose the Gyudon Bento Box and was glad I did. It came with modestly portioned meat and sides. Perfect if you're looking for a lighter lunch option or meal. The meat was super tender and tasted great; the sticky rice was also good. Dessert was absolutely amazing! Our Taiyaki wasn't too sweet. The raisins inside were so good, and the green tea ice cream that came along with it also wasn't super sweet either. In general, all the flavors went really well together in this dish. Nicely done! I'm docking two stars because I feel the atmosphere needs some work. Inside is pretty dark and dim, so I'm glad we opted for the outdoor seating. I wish they gave me a reason to come back. the ramen was bland, I have never been able to describe a soup like this but: everything felt soggy and tasteless. But worst of it all was the service... The taller of the two waitresses was rude, incredibly forgetful and when I asked her for suggestions she looked annoyed and didn't reply. I was excited to try out this place have read a lot of good things on yelp. Sadly I was a little underwhelmed. The food was either OK or good but by the time we ordered enough top us to make us fall we had spent over $100. We tried couple cocktails and glasses of wine, which were good, the following items were OK: salad, tuna, chicken thighs and desert with mango. The yellowtail and mushrooms were both very good. I'd come here to grab an appetizer in the future but not for my main meal. Sadly I probably wouldn't come for a special occasion because I didn't think the food was that great, overall. On the plus side, it was funkily decorated . On a Saturday night we didn't have much of a wait, which was great. This is my favorite ramen place ever. I've been twice so far and have loved each of my meals. I recently went in December '18 with my mom--I ordered the 30 Hour Ramen and she ordered a special that was some type of lobster ramen. Both dishes were incredible and we'd highly recommend them. I've had the same waitress both times I've been and she's so nice (can't remember here name). The chefs in the kitchen must work very fast because our food came out right away. Sat at the bar and had a lovely glass of prosecco ( or 2) I ordered the Brussels small plate and the Thai cauliflower. Brussels were crispy but too much sauce made the bottom layer not crispy. Next time I get that I will get sauce in the side. The cauliflower OMGGGGGG the best darn cauliflower I've ever eaten ..i think I licked the bowl!
