It's the kind of restaurant yelpers would gush about as a "cute" place to take a date with "nice ambiance" and has frou frou drinks and the food is ok to good but not exactly the center of attention bc people on dates are more concerned about enjoying their company and possibly getting laid later... not that there's anything wrong with that. Lots of people like getting laid. Anyhoo, overall, I'd rate the food a solid 3.5. The dishes I've had were edible and sometimes good but not interesting enough for me to want to eat here regularly except for the fact that their 1/2 price raw bar is kinda irresistible to a deal girl seafood lover like me. I also like their large selection of clean Hitachino beers, probably the largest selection I've seen in PVD, which I hear is very conducive to people getting laid, btw. Rounding up to 4 stars for nice service and that happy hour deal. My friends and I drove to RI to go to a different climbing gym on a super snowy afternoon. Once we worked up an appetite, we decided to find a place that served ramen. We hopped on Yelp and saw that Wara Wara was just a few miles away. The interior is cute. They have tons of old school Godzilla memorabilia on display and the service is great/quick. The space itself isn't too big, but it's the perfect size. Same goes for their ramen sizes. I like my ramen stupid large. Wara Wara's portion sizes are good and probably great for a person with a normal appetite (I want all the food, all the time #gimme). The broth was incredibly tasty (I got the 30 hour ramen), but I wish it came out hot, not warm. The noodles were fine, nothing incredible, but I would still recommend this ramen bowl to anyone because of the broth. So happy that the duck ramen is part of the regular menu these days!!! Can't wait for the weather to get colder so we can come in and warm up with it. Its the best pick me up on those dreary New England winter days but who are we kidding, I can eat it all year long. Also love the crispy cauliflower - sweet, spicy, limey, and crunchey all in one bite. The lotus poutine, popcorn chicken and ramen burger hit the spot as well. First, the really nice: the decor and music are lovely. The walls are very dark, with a painting of a woman taking up most of the side wall and pops of red throughout the dining area from the chairs and stools. My dining companion loved the room divider separating the bar from the main dining area - it's open shelves filled with small metal toys (think robots, Godzilla action figures, cars, and origami swans). The music was quite soothing, barely noticeable but really calming somehow. Now, for the food. We settled on a veggie bun for our appetizer. Neither of us loved it. The open bun looked a bit like an arepa - but was steamed instead of grilled, and overly sweet to my taste. The pickled vegetables were well-cooked but didn't seem to blend correctly with the bun to make a cohesive flavor profile. I ordered the vegan udon ax a main course. The broth was thicker than a typical ramen - and much thicker than I anticipated. Very tasty, with an initial taste very nearly the same as Indian roasted eggplant. Yummy surprise! I thought that at this price it could have had more vegetables, but all that I had were delicious. Our other dish was the vegetable ramen, which was salty and good but not among my top five. I'm not certain whether I was disappointed because of ordering wrong, of because the food is more of a fusion and less traditional Japanese than I was hoping for. If was good, but definitely not my favorite place on Hope Street at this point. It may take another visit for me to find what others like so much here. Even though brunch is served in the weekends, you can still order off the regular menu so my friend and I did both. The crispy cauliflower was done perfectly and you could barely tell there was any batter. The added mint was perfect. The chicken and macha waffle was the best I've had. The waffle was light and fluffy. It said it came with maple syrup but I did not get any. Didn't need it. The waffle had a hint of sweetness to it you might've missed otherwise. I was really excited tonight to give a new restaurant a try; especially one that is associated with one of my favorite restaurants in the area, Ebisu. So tonight was opening night and I made a reservation, quickly parked and found our way in. The decor could be described as modern Japanese chique and the bf and I actually really enjoyed the atmosphere. It was spacious with a bar (for alcohol) and a bar for food with a viewing window into the kitchen. Like many other restaurants on the first night there were hiccups: menus were printed off the page and some were incomplete. The waiter was not familiar with some of the dishes to make recommendations. But my rating isn't judged on these things which would undoubtedly improve. It's about he menu and the food. I heard Ramen and I immediately knew this had to be tried. They are billed as a Japanese tapas restaurant so the menu has a small list of little dishes with a healthy number of vegetarian options. We had the pork buns, fried chicken skin, garlic chili edamame, miso ramen and tan tan men. My favorites of the night was the edamame and the tan tan men but unfortunately that's not much of a compliment. I found the choices on the menu eclectic and confusing. There was a mix of Japanese and raw food bar as well as random tapas. The pork bun was spicy but the pork itself wasn't as tender as I'd like. I felt that Kens Ramens pork buns are much better. The chicken skins were all right but nothing to write home about. Oh the ramen. The miso ramen was a bit of a disappointment. The broth was not flavorful at all not was the meet that was in it. The tan tan men was not anything like a regular tan tan men. It was not spicy but it was flavorful and the tastiest thing on the menu. I wish they would concentrate on one thing rather than be a jack of all trades. If the bumped up their game on the ramen broth and concentrated on just that perhaps this would be more of a better place to eat. Unfortunately I was underwhelmed. read more

Parking is always tricky but found a spot a block down, around the corner, past the oak tree. =) The place is beautifully decorated, very cool eclectic vibe with great artwork on the walls. Plenty of seating and is dimly lit. Several choices of seating - high tops, ramen bar or regular tables. We started off with the cauliflower, pork buns and swordfish. Although a bit on the salty side, the cauliflower was delicious! Crispy and nicely charred with a really nice flavor to them. The pork buns were just meh to me - nothing special and I got alot of fat in my sandwich, a bit let down as I was looking forward to them. I'm used to grilled swordfish, so the steamed version was different - had one too many things going on with it. Sometimes meat is good just as is without the bells and whistles. For entrees, I ordered the miso ramen and my gf got the 30 hour ramen. We both enjoyed our soups - the noodle had a nice bite to them and the broths were very tasty. I liked the 30 hour broth better. The miso comes with tasty meaty slices of roast pork and perfectly boiled slices of egg, corn and spinach - it all just works so well. The soup did leave a bit of a salty aftertaste but other than that, we enjoyed our visit. The service was fantastic, very friendly and welcoming. I was very excited about trying Wara Wara. As much as I love the other ramen spots around town, I was craving a change. I went with my partner and we ordered the sesame chicken ramen with yu choy in a soy broth. We opted to split the portions, they pre split for us -- which was nice. After finishing my portion, I regretted not getting a full order for myself. The chicken in the ramen was good, it had a nice smokey flavor. The broth was on the saltier side, but hey, it's ramen. I would have liked the option to add avocado, which would help balance the saltiness. We also ordered the salted edamame which was a good portion for one person. My partner ordered the sausage, it had good flavor, but was a bit dry -- not what I would have expected. Other notes: There is a good mix of meat and veggie options. The beer selection and sake selection are very good. The interior was playful and hip -- I loved the ceiling and lights. The tin toy divider was cute too. Our waiter seemed a bit nervous, as it was their second day of being open, but he was very attentive and double checked with the kitchen for my partner's peanut allergy. I loved everything about my visit to Wara Wara, from the service to the food...it was on point! While in Providence with my boyfriend and his childhood friend, we were trying to figure out where we should go to dinner. His friend, being heavily involved in the food scene in Rhode Island recommended Wara Wara, which was the best decision EVER. Wara is a tapas style Japanese restaurant that adds their own flair to their different dishes. For those of you who cannot get enough ramen, have no fear! Wara has its a section on their menu dedicated to ramen. We decided to order four different small plates varying from the beef tongue to the scallops. The pork belly buns were fresh and delicious with just the right amount of flavor. The beef tongue was outstanding! For all of you who have never tried beef tongue or cringe just at the sight of the word, don't knock it until you have tried it! The scallops were perfectly cooked which allowed for their freshness and buttery texture shine through. The sea bass was my favorite dish, hands down. The presentation of the fish was bold in color from the green banana leaves to colorful toppings. Wara's flavor profiles were spot on. We happened to stop in on a Monday night which happens to be their "Movie Night". They offer free popcorn (1 per customer), half off oysters, and a certain cocktail on special. We our oyster lovers and Wara Wara made our night just that much better. In terms of their spirits, forget about it! They have an awesome selection of sake, a handful of delicious beers on tap, and cocktails that would please anyone. This spot is amazing. I've been twice and both times the food and service were excellent. I highly recommend the 30 hour broth, it is the most flavorful broth I have ever tasted. My only disappointment was not finding out about this place sooner. I can honestly say that no other ramen places in the area that I have tried measure up to this one. I had the same server on both occasions, he was friendly, very knowledgeable and professional. I was really pleased with the fact that they allow you to combine different ingredients with the broth of your choice, if you request to do so. In addition to ramen there are several small plate and seafood items which is nice in case not everyone in your party wants ramen. They even have a kids menu, and the kids portions are very generous in size. It's always a relief when the places that I like to go to welcome children. I look forward to coming back often. Only thing to be advised of is that parking can be limited due to the location but the area is very safe in case you have to park on one of the side streets. I was really excited to try this ramen place - the restaurant is a cute little place, casual, with contemporary decoration. The service was great! Our waiter was super nice and was always available. For the food, we got the garlic chili edamame, haka eggplant, tan tan men ramen, and 30 hour ramen (seafood). The garlic edamame was very flavorful, and you should get this instead of regular salty. For the ramen, the tan tan men was very flavorful, but I couldn't get to any of the ground pork until I was halfway through my noodles. When I was presented with my noodles, I couldn't see many of the ingredients, and I really had to dig for the pork. When I found it though, it was very well seasoned and not too spicy. This was my first time visiting upon my daughters recommendation. The food was outstanding. Everything I ate was so visually appealing, and layered with flavor. Our table tried the pork buns, popcorn chicken, chicken skin, yakitori, cauliflower, salmon, pork ramen and branzino. We also tried a few of the sorbets which were amazing. Each dish was perfectly executed. I couldn't decide which was my favorite dish because they were all just so original and like nothing I've ever experienced. I have dined at many fine dining establishments but none of them compare to the taste and care that is put into each dish at Warawara. The prices are very reasonable for what is offered. You wouldn't notice it going by, but Wara Wara is one of the better restaurants I've been to. The decor is gorgeous, and the lighting gives it a homely atmosphere. Our waiter was pretty much waiting all of the tables but managed to give us a speedy and attentive service. The food came out fast and was absolutely delicious (I would suggest the steamed shrimp dumplings as a starter). I was amazed by the quality of the curry udon that I ordered as an entree and it was filling without that negative feeling afterwards. Overall fantastic and will definitely be returning. read more

If not my top, it's in my top list of restaurants in providence! The veggie ramen is killer and so is the tomato ramen (if they still have that on special). Rich and flavorful. Can't get enough of it. I always eat way past the "I'm full" point which isn't good but it's a testament to the exceptional food. Cauliflower appetizer is fabulous as well. 90% of the time the ramen is on point although there has been one or two times they forgot the seasonings. Came here for after church and was pleasantly surprised what they offered for brunch. They have bento boxes and ramen but I decided on the buttermilk fried chicken with mochi waffle. Been really wanting to come here after hearing the words "Asian Tapa"! Count me in! They have a delicious pork bun but I think Ken's Ramen may have them on their ramen. I feel like I should of got the fish plate instead ramen. Do not get me wrong this place is not bad, I just was expecting it to be bit better. Oh they let you take your ramen to go if you do not finish it too unlike Ken's which is a plus. My boyfriend loved his dish. He got their chicken curry dish and was really satisfied. Wow, so unexpected chance we stumble upon this restaurant. We had to use a computer on a vacation on our way to Newport, RI. Very close to the library and so we decided to have a meal. Looked on yelp and read the reviews, the clincher was 1/2 off oysters from 3-6. Wara Wara did not disappoint, 2 local very fresh oyster with a frozen mignonette that I never had before. Sometimes hard to get a table and service can be slow on busy nights (most nights) but the staff is working hard and the food is delicious.

Always loved coming hot this restaurant but today not so much. Calamari was half the size it normally is and wasn't hot. The noodles with chicken were good and enough for two people. Now the big disappointment was the burger, couldn't figure it out. Interesting concept that just doesn't work, the burger was way over cooked and the Ramen Roll was bizarre. It wasn't juice and the bacon was limp. Maybe it was a bad day, but they need to step up. read more
