If you don't have time to sit in for sushi, Waraii is a great choice for take-out. You choose the time on the Eat24 app and pick up your food at the door (pick-up only, no delivery :/ ) As soon as I arrived, the food was waiting with the front hostess so I could grab and go. As for the rolls, I ordered the crunchy roll and a rainbow roll. Both rolls were 8 pieces and rolled nicely. Presentation is much better in store but for take out, it makes sense. The rolls came with soy sauce packets, wasabi and ginger. The ginger was sweeter than expected and the wasabi was not as spicy as other wasabi but still great. The rolls tasted fantastic! The rice is the right texture and the fish tasted fresh. I would recommend this place to go anytime you're in town. Great value for great food! read more

The sushi we had there was some of the best I've ever had. White house roll was huuuuge, spicy tuna roll was actually a little bit spicy for a change. The girl had the Yellowtail Roll, I made a mistake not ordering that, was probably the best non-spicy roll I've ever had. The miso was subpar. I like it piping hot and with a lot of weird floaties in it. This was plain and served barely hot. Edamame was nice and salty, served pretty hot. The downfall of this place was definitely the atmosphere of the joint. It was just a little awkward, small place and the owner's family was seated in a booth. The air inside doesn't move either, giving it a stagnant feel. Bottom line: Would probably a better take-out place for lunch... haven't seen it at night. Great sushi though. read more

The place was is pretty nice but parking can be limited if if the other places are busy. We were able to sit down right away when we walked in on a Sunday evening. They had a really nice selection of specialty rolls and regular rolls. I ended up getting the spicy tuna, spicy tuna tempura and a California roll. All of them were pretty decent size and decent price. The sushi came out quickly so we didn't have that long of a wait. Over all a nice place and decent sushi! read more

I went to this place when it was a tiny little restaurant next to the El Asador off of Oceanside Blvd and Temple Heights. Absolutely love their new look and new spacious location! LOVE IT! Sushi is great with great prices! My boyfriend and I go here all the time and always receive great service and great sushi for the best prices! Owners and waitstaff are always sweet enough to make sure we're enjoying our meal. Love it here! read more

This was our first time here, the great reviews caught my attention. I've been in search of a good sushi spot close to our place. I have to stay the staff and service deserves 5 stars. I've never been served so quickly in my entire life at a sit down restaurant. There are 3 sushi chefs working behind the bar and the restaurant was almost at full capacity. We were seated quickly. I kid you not it only took about 5 minutes or less for our 3 sushi rolls to come out. We ordered special rolls not just plain easy Cali rolls or spicy tuna. The rolls were pretty good, they had great flavor and the the rice ratio was just right. If your big on spice go for the "it's very hot roll" the spice was pretty over powering though. Almost ruins your taste buds for the other rolls. We also tried the " fire cracker" roll which was good and the ponzu sauce kept it from being too dry. My favorite roll out of the 3 was the "I love you" roll. The flavor was on point and if I had more room in my stomach I would have ordered another one. My only qualm with this spot is the decor, it was just sensory overload. It was a mixture of crazy art, different wall colors, and a throw back to nickelodeon. It's a small restaurant and it could feel over crowded if it was full house. There is a small outdoor seating area in front of the restaurant. I would come back to try some other rolls but the rolls didn't make a huge impression for the prices. read more

Very small sushi only restaurant. Giant sign outside says 50% off all sushi rolls which is good since the mark all of their rolls way up so with the 50% off they are regular price. You have to really read what you order. We order three rolls and they ended up being all the same roll just with something different on top. They do have the best Crunch roll I have ever had. The restaurant itself is very run down and in need of a serious deep cleaning. Not a family restaurant. read more

I went there last night for early dinner with my bf. Ordered- -3 orders of salmon sushi(nigiri)- loved it! Big piece of salmon with perfect amount of rice! -I love you roll- loved this as well! Most of their rolls had this sesame dressing sauce(??; not sure what it's called, but it seems like they put on most of their rolls) -California roll- it was okay, I wouldn't get it again. It was too small for the price -Gloria- typical, it was okay. *it also had that sesame dressing flavor, but it just wasn't as good as I love you roll. -green tea- I had to send it back cuz it was too fishy-I got this before I got my food so I know it's not from my food. I always order a poke bowl from Waraii Sushi through door dash. Let's just say...... it's amazing ! It comes with most of the usual topping , except crab , that you have to special request and they will also do spicy tuna if you ask . All of course at an extra charge. Plus is they don't charge for avocado ! It has only been bad one time and not That it was bad but they forgot avocado and when ur getting it delivered it not as easy to fix. Waraii Sushi is our first sushi spot we've gone to since we moved to Carlsbad from the S.F. Bay Area, and it is AMAZING! We're a family of four consisting of me, my husband, a PICKY 8-year-old, and a not-so-picky 5-year-old. Trying to find a place we all enjoy can be a pain, but we hit the nail on the head with Waraii! My picky 8-year-old inhaled his kid size chicken teriyaki meal with rice. I ordered a combination with spicy chicken teriyaki for myself, and added an extra portion for my husband. My 5-year-old isn't a big eater, so I gave her the 4 pieces of California roll that came with the combo, and a few pieces of chicken. My husband ordered the Sweet Gloria roll, and Volcano roll. I had a few pieces of the Gloria and it was really good. He loved the Volcano roll, which I steered clear from because it's too spicy for me to handle. My kids and I shared gyoza, as well, which was good. We loved it all, and left absolutely nothing on our plates. I'm not sure if I should be proud of that, but Waraii should be ;) I have to say too, that the chicken teriyaki was the BEST I've ever had. EVER. It's tender, doesn't have a bunch of chewy gristle/fat stuff on it...just pure deliciousness. Icing on the cake: the people working there are all friendly and said "thank you" to us, which I appreciate as someone who works in customer service. read more

Ok so I've been coming here since they were a small little shop by temple heights school but since they've moved it seems like they've been getting a lot more busy! I absolutely love their sushi and always com here no matter where I am! If I'm downtown and am craving sushi I will wait hours just to come here. The service is kinda slow and call in orders take up to 25 minutes which is no biggie but when I walk in and there's only one server/busser and three tables that haven't been bussed, it's a little gross and unprofessional but whatever - the food is worth the wait! I always get the Lovely Gloria, I Love You, Tarantula, and Hot Night rolls and they're all amazing. Definitely the best little hole in the wall for sushi in Oceanside! read more

I can't keep myself away from this place. We've been a handful of times and we HAD to go last Thursday because I couldn't stop dreaming about their homemade salad dressing! (Probably the best dressing I have EVER had!) The place is small, but it feels even smaller because it is always so busy. They have outgrown their current location which, I think, is a great sign for a small business. They have realized it themselves and they are moving to a larger location soon. The pricing is decent, you won't have to break the bank like some other sushi places but you'll still get quality fish (Can't speak for myself but my boyfriend LOVES it). The quality of the service leaves something to be desired. We have had two awesome servers and one not so awesome server - we joke every time about how much she hates her life. She'll roll her eyes behind the owners back when he tries to help by taking orders when they are busy. She shows that she is in a rush and makes the experience a little more stressful. Had it not been for her, I would have given this establishment 5 stars! They have good vegetarian options which is necessary for us/me. The edamame has a great soft crunch - exactly how it should be. And did I mention the awesome salad dressing? My boyfriend always ends up with a sushi combo and even liked the shrimp which he always hesitates to try. All in all, love it. Tried out Waraii a few days ago and had an over all great experience. The food was very good. I enjoyed all the rolls we tried. We had the lobster roll, rainbow roll, waraii roll and one other roll that I can't seem to remember the name of. I have had better rainbow rolls, but otherwise everything was delicious. The have a lot of great sauces here too. The other huge plus was the awesome prices. Most rolls were around $7 or $8 which makes for about $15 a person. Definitely good sushi for the price. The place was decently busy, but that could be partially because it was so very small. There was about 8 tables and a very small sushi bar. There is a decent chance you will have to wait for a table here and you absolutely shouldn't go with a group bigger than about 4. The service was a little disappointing. They had two servers taking care of the place, but really they seemed to wander around aimlessly more than anything else they did. They honestly looked a bit lost. My boyfriend's soda was very flat so he asked to just get a glass of water instead. They happily agreed, but then didn't show up with the water for about 10 minutes; and that was about par for the service that night. In the end I'll definitely go back. For good food at great prices, I'll suffer the slower service. read more
