I have been wearing my super lightweight matte acetate frame Bryan Mawrs for about a decade now. This is discontinued but I came for some sunnies. Bought the Doe sunglasses. Price of glasses here is around $360, $450, $600s. Many are in the lower range. Why do I come here? They fit my rectangular heart shaped face better than warby. I almost never write poor reviews, but here we are. First up: the people that work in the store are absolutely lovely. Now the bad: The sunglasses just fall apart. It has happened twice. No impact, just cracked and fell into two pieces. Also, within a couple of days of owning my second pair, the florets on the front just fell off. I expect more from a pair of $400 sunglasses. I walked to the store expecting the pair would be replaced. The guy working in the store was lovely, couldn't have been nicer. But his hands were tied as these are out of warranty. I don't think it's unfair to expect a pair of sunglasses, luxury sunglasses, to last longer than a year. He was familiar with the problem, "the acetate dries out and cracks". If it were my business I would make the customer whole for what seems to be a manufacturing issue. I would strongly, strongly recommend not buying these until they improve their warranty. read more

Garrett, one of the employees who works at this location is the type of person who secures lifelong customers for a brand. My glasses broke within the warranty, and without any fuss, he fixed them right then and there. He then adjusted the bent frames, tightened the new arms, cleaned the lenses, and fit the "new" pair to my head. It's the type of willingness to help you would expect from a high quality brand such as this, but you don't always receive. Previously, I asked an employee if they do repairs, and she told me it's $250 because they have to take apart another pair off the shelf. She didn't even bother to ask if I was under warranty. If Garrett asks for a raise, give him one, because I would be buying my next pair elsewhere if not for him. read more

This is probably the best Garrett Leight location I've been too. Not because of the selection or physical location of the store, but because the staff here is great. Helpful but not pushy. Informative and genuinely will suggest things in your best interest. I had an old pair of GL's that I accidentally sat on, and Greta helped adjust them and made them feel better than they've ever felt. She was so sweet and went the extra mile to make sure the fit was perfect. I have 50+ pairs of sunglasses and have gotten almost all of them adjusted by someone at some point. This isn't just because Garrett's father is the famed founder of Oliver People's eyewear, a global phenomenon that has dominated high-end eyewear for over 40 years. GLCO creates designs with top-end lenses that set one apart for their chic minimal but expressive nature. For those who know design, fashion, and have greater attention to detail, GLCO will set you ahead of others and into a new category. For mostly the bold, their eyewear is both for those wearing sunglasses or regular glasses, with or without prescription. I found that for men, their Bentley and Boon glasses are the best. Although they have the traditional aviators and the like, you will note their craftsman ship denotes slight changes to frames from classics and makes them stand out. I couldn't decide what would work for me online, so I had to definitely come into the store. Parking was tough, but I blocked traffic to swoop on a spot. So perhaps I got lucky. If anything, be prepared to walk a little. I was able to get help quickly, despite my homeless drab in basketball shorts and a hoodie. James was rather helpful along with his colleague and they sorted me through lens types and I was out rather quickly. I'm glad I could get high end design on this gentrified part of town rather than venturing to Hollywood or Beverly Hills, and it's right along my minimalist alley. I visited this store for the first time yesterday and had such an awesome experience! I have needed to upgrade my prescription glasses for quite some time, and have put it off because I am so picky and tend to get overwhelmed/discouraged and just walk out of the store. Cut to my experience at Garrett Leight: 1. Quality and selection of merchandise is top notch. I have never put on a pair of glasses that were so comfortable on my face without sacrificing fashion/ style. There's something for everyone here. 2. Service! James was amazing at helping me pick out frames, I have spent hours in stores trying on pair after pair and James really helped me with focusing on what suited/ flattered my face most, and I ended up with a pair that I love and would have overlooked otherwise. 3. I brought in a pair of smashed up Oliver People's sunglasses that I have tried to get repaired elsewhere (to no avail) and James literally fixed them within hours. He is some kind of sunglass sorcerer, I swear! In about 30-40 minutes I found two pairs of prescription glasses that I absolutely love, and was able to get my favorite pair of sunglasses repaired. It was so hard not to splurge on sunglasses, next time though! Check this place out and ask for James! You won't regret it. read more

Garrett and Megan were extremely helpful in making sure I found the right sunglasses for my face, color and complexion. They had me try on over 20 pairs and were so patient in helping me narrow down the options until I found the right style for me - the Brooks X in Matte Olio. I would never imagine choosing olive color sunglasses, but they are perfect. I have had them a few weeks and already had several people positively comment on them. This Place is amazing and not just the company but the Abbot Kinney Location staff is amaze balls. I first brought in an old WWII American Optical aviators that needed lenses. The Frames were a bit quirky and they needed a few trial runs but they were able to cut new Crystal lenses and bring them to original condition. My second visit I brought in a pair of Oliver Peoples with some old vintage American Optical Cosmetan lenses from the 40's that I wanted cut to fit the frame. Let me just say this, numerous places including the La Brea location were afraid to have a go at them. But these folks were able to do it. They really are like a secret gem for optical needs. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Sadly for them, I have more vintage lenses for them to wrestle with, see you soon. read more

This is the baby of the baby of Oliver People's founder Larry Leight. And who doesn't love babies? ;) I mean that in the most literal way -- Garrett is the son of Larry Leight ;). Most of the frames here are Garrett Leight branded, with the exception of a few other designer capsule collections, but basically it's a whole store full of frames you won't find anywhere else. They're just as classic, with a hint of detailed edge, just like it's sister brand Oliver People's, but somehow younger, hipper. The staff are pretty attentive and helpful, and it's more or less just an incredibly curated collection of beautiful frames -- both glasses and sunglasses. read more

Small but good selection of various glasses and sunglasses, however the main reason I came there was to shop Garrett Leight glasses at his/their own shop. I already have a pair of correctional glasses which I bought back in Stockholm, and since I now was in LA, I thought I'd swing by and pick up a pair of sunglasses as well. When first arriving, I was greeted by a friendly and helpful guy, interested enough to ask me questions about what I was looking for, but still giving me enough space to make up my mind on my own. So far so good. Unfortunately he then left for some reason, leaving me with the other woman working there. And this woman seemed like she couldn't care less whether she made a sale or not. Or was her attitude more "Buy something already or gtfo"? I have trouble deciding. Either way, I made several attempts to start a conversation about the materials used in the glasses, the lenses, and so on, but it was impossible to get more than just blunt and short replies, instead of what should have been a friendly conversation about a common interest. So after the "conversation" died for the 5th time, she just turns away, turns up the stereo, and then goes into the backroom. This is the point where I just lose it completely, decide they're not getting my money no matter how much I like their products, and just leave. I might be back in the future, but this experience was bad enough for me to create this account only to write the review. I hope this feedback reaches them. Do note that this feedback is only for that specific encounter, the other guy was really nice and I do like the products in the store... but getting friendly and attentive service can either make or break a deal, and this time, it broke bigtime. read more

I've recently purchased the Bentley from Garrett Leight because I like the style and it looked so good on me. I was getting a lot of compliments from other people whenever I wore it and overall I've been very happy with the glasses. After almost a month of wearing my glasses I noticed that one of the temple had a hairline crack which concerned me as it may worsen over time, so I went ahead and contacted their customer support. After telling them the issue and emailed them pictures of the crack they went ahead and sent me replacement not only on the damage side but both temples! I am definitely satisfied as a customer and will continue to support and proudly wear Garrett Leight. read more

Amazing amazing AMAZING! Aside from the fact that ALL of the frames are gorgeous, the customer service is fabulous. My glasses broke last week and I was due for new ones so of course I went to GL. Because of the shutdown, the store was by appointment only. Jason was super helpful via email correspondence and then "in store". When I arrived, he had the frames I wanted to try and a mirror (since I couldn't go inside). I quickly made a decision (the frames I chose were exactly what I envisioned) and sent Jason my RX. This is a great store with alot of great glasses to look at. They have all kinds of eyewear. The prices vary, but this is high end stuff, if you want $5.00 glasses go to the Venice boardwalk. (not that $5.00 glasses are bad) A. Kinney court often has events too and they are great. they have a court yard out the back and normally have an event on first Fridays. All the staff are really friendly and will be able to help you with everything. They don't just sell sunglasses either, they do a full service for prescription too. read more

Stopped in this location on a whim recently and to check out GL frames I had seen elsewhere. The first salesperson seemed to cop an attitude and expressed general disinterest so I shooed her away to look on my own​. During my time in the store, Madeleine intervened and gave me helpful advice and recommendations. She also demonstrated​ clear competency in the field that her colleague did not.
