Another trip to Wards Bridge Inn after a long hiatus. I am happy to report they are still one of the best restaurants in the area. My wife and I had the filet and it was excellent. Service was on par with a 5 star in NYC. Very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu One of the facts I didn't realize about WBI is the exceptional wine list. There is something for everyone and the best of the list is very reasonably priced Highly suggest making reservations, even for a party of 2. We needed a place that would accommodate a large group with a lot of different options. Someone mentioned Wards Bridge Inn. The ambiance was dark, moody, and cute at the same time. I thought right away....an old cellar and also a great place for a rehearsal dinner all at the same time. We had a large group and everyone was able to find at least one option for dinner. I am probably the pickiest eater in the group and I found several different options. I ordered the Vodka Penne Pasta. Although it was a little dry for my liking....I thought it was good. The serving size was way too much and was able to provide for a whole other meal. Everyone else loved their food and appetizers. One of the shrimp cocktails was too warm but the server quickly brought out another. The staff was above and beyond. They were friendly, outgoing, and sassy. We enjoyed their service and the company they provided. The room upstairs was chilly for us out of towners and they adjusted the thermostat for us. I would return again. I called to make reservations for a group of 9 a few days in advance, for an early dinner. When I arrived and walked in, the hostess had our reservation ready and directed us to our table, which was all put together and set up for our group. The waitress promptly met us as soon as we entered. Most of us arrived on time, but a few trickled in late. The waitress stayed right on top of taking drink orders for each person who arrived. Once our full group was there and had been served their beverages, the waitress quickly came and took our dinner orders. I didn't catch her name, but she did a fantastic job. She was friendly, she worked fast, and everything she brought us was correct. The food came out surprisingly fast - much faster than we expected. Everyone's orders were correct, which is impressive for 9 people. All of the food was hot and everyone commented on how good it tasted. The decor is peaceful and slightly old-fashioned (but well maintained), which makes for a nice atmosphere. The restaurant was very clean. The food isn't cheap, but they give you good sized portions. Someone brought a cake with him, for us to eat at the restaurant. That felt a bit awkward, but the staff cut the cake, put candles on it, and served it just like they had made it themselves. Came for a sunday night dinner - we were sat and greeted by the fire alarm! They have AWFUL ventilation in the building. Woof. Regardless of a very early mishap the meal itself was really good. So I've lived about 25 minutes from this place most of my life, but I'd never been in. However, my wife--who'd been there years ago--and I decided that last night was a good time to try. Being a Saturday at roughly 6 pm, it was packed. We got seats at the bar, which we prefer anyway--we like to meet people and the bar is always a cool place to do it. The bar and lounge are beautiful. There were two bartenders--Mark and Mike--both of whom were helpful and friendly. My wife has some food allergy issues, and everyone who helped her out was beyond accommodating. The food turned out to be excellent. We stayed a good while and talked with a lot of regulars who swear by the place. The bill was entirely reasonable, given that we stuck to salads and appetizers. Very nice place that reminded me of an English pub. Bar, sitting area, and fireplace in front, and a dining area in back. Very nice atmosphere. The food was nothing short of amazing. I started with the seafood bisque. It tasted great and had some chunks of lobster and shrimp in it. I kind of wanted to lick the bowl when I was done with the bisque, it was that good. Entree was the gorgonzola filet mignon. A huge piece of meat that was cooked to perfection, crusted with gorgonzola, and also amazing. This place goes on the "must visit" list whenever I'm in town. We loved the cuisine here at the Wards Bridge Inn...food great and service great...especially the seafood bisque!

Ward's serves up traditional Italian fare with a little flare. It's a welcome break from your typical spaghetti with meatball joint, even if it is a little more pricey. The bread is served warm and crunchy with a house-made herbed butter. The fried calamari comes with a horseradish dipping sauce, along with the traditional fradiavlo as to not upset those purists. The salad? Served with a crumbly Gorgonzola cheese. It's little details like this that separates Ward's from tradition, and their competition, Ward's is a great restaurant to go out to dinner for that something special everyone likes in a meal. We are here based on a few recommendations from social media and some friends. There were 7 in our party, and although the restaurant was busy we all get they did a great job with social distancing and safety. The atmosphere is really quaint and the staff was very friendly and helpful. All of us really enjoyed our meals. The filet mignon was cooked perfect and the au poivre sauce was one of the best I have ever tasted. The pork shank and lamb special were also delicious. Portions were a great size as many people had leftovers to bring home. We travel to this area occasionally and will definitely be back. read more

I've been here many times, so this review is based on plenty of personal experiences. The service is always pleasant and on point. Big high five to Mark, one of the best bartenders ever, and I don't throw that phrase around lightly. He turns attentive-but-not-intrusive into an art form! He's introduced me to beers I've never heard of, which have consequently become family favorites. As far as food, just order whatever strikes your fancy on the menu, you won't be disappointed. The chef is awesome. I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal here. I even order things I think I don't like, because at Ward's Bridge Inn, I'm certain it'll be great. Is this place a little pricey for the area? It's borderline, but the quality of the food and service merit the cost. However, it's a shame the food doesn't match the service. We got some stale warmed bread to start off with followed by greasy frozen fried calamari. You can always tell it's not freshly made when all you get are tiny rings. My pasta dish was shrimp and scallops in pappardella pasta in a tomato cream sauce. The pasta was over cooked as was the seafood in it. Essentially it was a gloppy overcooked mess that was difficult to eat because the pasta was stuck together. It was similar to eating glue. I saw the banner that they were doing limited dining and takeout... wanting to support local businesses without the risk led me to call to treat the family. After giving my order... I hung up and my daughter remarked about how RUDE the woman I was transferred to at the bar who took the order was... I had my phone on speaker... and she WAS... but I'm never combative with any person involved in food prep so I said nothing and gave a big tip thinking maybe she's just having a rough night... $150 later we pick up our food. My daughter enjoyed her burger... can't mess that up...my husbands seafood risotto was a bit skimpy on the seafood which is understandable... what I CANNOT understand is how they annihilated a $30 filet mignon with gorgonzola... it was chewy and overcooked...So disappointing!!! The dog was happy to get this well done overpriced chew toy. Texas Roadhouse does it better. Hoping they adjust to our new normal soon. read more

We had reservations for 4 people. Waited 25 minutes to be seated although there were plenty of empty tables. After we were seated we only got 2 menus, a small basket of bread. No water and nobody came to take our drink order. After about 20 minutes more we went to the hostess and told her. She said someone would come to take care of us. While we were there there were 2 waiters in our section but neither of them even looked at us. Again waited for about 10 more minutes and we finally just left. Never again! read more

This has for many years been my favorite restaurant. The food is good, the atmosphere is nice and the service is usually excellent. When a friend of mine asked me to choose a restaurant to celebrate my birthday I didn't hesitate, I chose Wards Bridge Inn. My friend ordered the lunch special which was an oyster PO boy sandwich and I ordered the same thing but with shrimp. When our orders came mine was delicious, the shrimp was well seasoned and cooked perfectly and the sweet potato fries that they came with were delicious as well. Unfortunately my friends sandwich was terrible. The oysters were very over cooked and hard as a rock. She tried to eat half of it but they were too hard. I felt terrible at this point because I'm the one who suggested that we go there . My friend is not a complainer and was not going to say anything but I felt the restaurant should know and maybe replace her sandwich with one that she could actually eat! I called our waitress over and showed her the over cooked oysters and she took the sandwich away. I assumed to replace it but soon after she returned with the bill and full charge for my friend's lunch! I couldn't believe it! I told her that I was disappointed that they hadn't taken anything off of the bill considering that the sandwich was pretty much inedible and she said she had told Brian but he didn't say anything. I asked if I could speak with him and she returned with the bill which had been discounted by 7.00, ( half the price of the sandwich). Being a local food blogger,( The Hudson Valley Foodie) and a restaurant owner myself I can't understand why such a great restaurant would hesitate to do the right thing when they could see for themselves that the oysters were way over cooked. The offer should have been made to replace the sandwich or they should have taken it off of the bill. Any restaurant can have a bad day so after years of patronage I am not going to write them off because of one bad experience. I just hope that they realize that there are many great restaurants in Montgomery and loyal customers deserve to be treated better because there are other options! read more

Normally an okay place. Went there this evening @ 6:45 and asked for a table for four. Was told it would be 15/20 minutes. Not a problem. An hour later we still were not seated in spite of several available tables. Excuse was that the "servers were taking care of other tables". It's a quaint old building with a few little dining rooms. There was only one other couple eating in the place and I couldn't figure out why. Maybe the weather... The waitress was obviously well trained, she didn't hover, but she maintained the table, kept the beverages full, and tidied the table at the appropriate time without interrupting our conversation. The food was excellent and the portion size was perfect. I had a Thai shrimp appetizer followed with the Wards Bridge salad, had pears and nuts and chicken ...Awesome! Wards Bridge Inn is a true gem in the town of Montgomery. They serve phenomenal wings and even better entrees. I have been here on 2 different occasions and had a great time both times. I came here with friends to eat wings and catch the game. We were able to sit comfortably in a setting that resembled a home more then a restaurant. I felt like I was in a living room watching the game and not in a restaurant. I also brought my parents here so they could experience the Inn for themselves. Worst experience trying to make reservations for Mother's Day. My mother is disabled and elderly and the thoughtless and definitely heartless management of the Wards Bridge Inn make no effort to accommodate the handicapped. Telling me the only way we can dine there ( at the DOWNSTAIRS BUFFET) is to be seated upstairs, requiring her to climb up and down steep staircase just to partake of the buffet on MOTHERS DAY!! I literally had to beg her to make accommodations and she was rude and uncaring. I will NEVER spend a penny at this restaurant EVER AGAIN and will not EVER recommend this place. If a restaurant is not inclusive of all people, especially Mothers on MOTHERS DAY then they should rethink being in business. Do not patronize the Wards Bridge Inn!! read more

Hubby and I walked over for drinks and appetizers. We arrived a couple minutes prior to their opening without a reservation. (I recommend having a reservation especially with the covid limited capacity precautions!) The fries were good, the southern fried oysters were AMAZING, but our onion rings were cool to the touch and cold on the inside. We had been asked how everything was prior to tasting the onion rings, I did end up mentioning the temperature issue and Marc kindly told us he would take care of them. I assumed that meant we would have a new order - WRONG! Have you ever had something twice fried? It absorbs an insane amount of oil to the point where it alters the taste. I was beyond disappointed! Thankfully my husband has an iron stomach, he ate them. I was surprised they had literally taken the food I returned and dumped it back in the fryer and served them again. We ordered soups - French Onion and Seafood Bisque - delicious. We each ordered different entrees, and each of us deemed our food wonderful - including the side salads.
