We have been to the Wards Bridge Inn several times in the past and had great experiences/meals, so my husband made a reservation for Valentines this past Saturday. This meal was not that great, we were greeted by a hostess that needs some lessons in manners, as she kept her back to us and didn't even smile or say hello, just sharply asked us the reservation name. We were seated upstairs where is was very chilly. The bread was cold, and had no flavor at all. I ordered the Shrimp and Scallop Pappardelle (the menu states it is fresh...lol)......I think someone needs to teach the chef the difference between boxed fettucine (see picture) and fresh made pappardelle which is 3/4 to an inch wide. We shared the $14 Tuscan meatballs which were WAY over priced for 3 meatballs. My husband got the Salmon Arrosto and the entire plate was drenched in butter. Our total dinner cost $101.00 which was not worth the money AT ALL !! read more

My husband and I met another couple here last evening at 6:45 and requested a table. We were told it would be about 15min so we ordered a drink and sat to wait in the bar area. 1 hour later we had still not been seated despite seeing several empty tables. We were told that they did not have the appropriate amount of staff to seat us. No timeframe was offered for when we might be seated. As far as I'm concerned this is unacceptable. We left and went to Garrison's and had a lovely meal with great service. I guess Ward's Bridge doesn't need the business and I will encourage others not to go there!! read more

We done here at least once a week. Especially on weeknights, this place is a lifesaver. When we want a really nice sit down meal, with good service, and fresh healthy options, this is usually the place we come too. I recommend the man and cheese with lobster. So I went there with my sister at around 5pm not knowing I needed a reservation. The hostess asked did I have a reservation, I did not. I understand that the football team was having a team dinner in the back room. She began to tell me that they were packed when obviously all the diningroom tables were empty. So she had me sit at a bar stool by the bar and order dinner there. 30 minutes went by when I called her over and asked her was anyone going to take my order. Finally the bartender came over asked us what would we liked to drink. The whole time we were there the tables in the diningroom remained empty. The whole dining experience was very disappointing. The cost of the food and the service just does not add up in my opinion. If you're going to charge $30. A plate, make sure the service is just as good. Unfortunately I will not be returning or recommending this place and that is sad because word of mouth is everything. Please pay more attention to your customers when they walk in that door or hire more people to do so. Service is everything! read more

At the risk of not being able to get a reservation here in the future I have to say this place just keeps getting better an better. My wife and I have eaten here several times over the past couple of years and the food, drinks, and service have always been great. We just went back for a special occasion and it was amazing. The menu specials are always incredible. There's always a nice drink special to choose from, and the servers take incredibly good care of you. I had a wonderful Tomahawk Veal chop paired perfectly with asparagus and truffle mashed potatoes. My wife had the Alaskan Halibut, which she said was the best fish dish she had ever had. High praise indeed. They have an excellent wine list as well. We had a bottle of a fantastic Napa cab. The Village of Montgomery has some fantastic restaurants in a very small geographic space and this one stands head and shoulders above the rest. I'd dare say it's the best restaurant in Orange County and possibly even the best in the Hudson Valley. We will be back again for sure. read more

A cozy and a warm ambience. Sat at the bar and we enjoyed an apple cider martini, a tap beer along with steamed garlic clams appetizer and a hamburger. Both food and drinks were very good. While the in-house made butter is amazing, and the staff is good, we have twice now been very disappointed by the quality of seafood. The prices here are a little higher than other local fare and while I would expect a slightly better quality meal, I have been disappointed to receive mediocre dishes on more than one occasion with groups of many guests wanting a slightly more up-scale dining experience. We were in town for a local special annual weekend event, and had originally planned on trying a different place.."Caldron"....DON'T BOTHER ME GOING THERE!!!!! VERY DIRTY AND REEKS OF cigarette smoke!! Anyway, so we ended up here completely by accident, for a party of four. It's an older building, each room kind of juts off the first. Older decor, kind of pub-ish meets old country club styled. VERY old wooden floors, and most rooms are VERY dark. Although we were seated in the modest sized back room with lots of windows and light...i imagine they only use the other rooms as a completely last resort. The clientele seemed to be of a much older age period 70yrs plus. We decided to stay and give it a whirl! This place is pricey especially for what/how they're preparing it. I was in the mood for a cheeseburger...i know...i know...but hey what can I say!?!? Family/friends got other things which they said was ok. (Salmon, steak salad, etc) My burger/fries were very salty (and because of experience at previous restaurant this same night..we were STARVING!!!!!) So I ate my salty food...enough salt intake for several days!! I was full but very salty feeling...needless to say that I drank EXTRA EXTRA water for the remainder of the weekend!! I wouldn't really recommend this place. I mean the atmosphere isn't something that you could easily enjoy..unless if you like older/darker places!?!!?? Went there for dinner last night. Charming ambiance. Cheerful and helpful service. My dining companion and I both indulged in the filet mignon topped with gorgonzola and a port wine reduction. The meat was tender and buttery. The reduction sauce was incredible, I could have eaten it out of a bowl! I am here working and from out of town. Someone local recommended I try the Inn. I was seated upstairs and was given bread. I watched two servers take care of tables both in front of me and beside me. One table arrived after me. After fifteen minutes i dicided to leave after watching the second table placing thier drink and food orders. Clearly the servers for what ever reason dicided to ignore me. went there on 3/22/14 and it was a horrendous dining experience with bad food and worse service. The sea food was over cooked and served cold and the server was clueless and could not care less. They have enjoyed a reputation from when wards bridge inn was a good restaurant many years ago but it is not the same owners and the food has gone down hill. Entered this establishment without any recommendations or knowledge of this cozy friendly jewel. What a beautiful menu! Difficult to choose with so many lovely offerings. A specials sheet made life more complicated. An Alaskan Halibut encrusted delight served with lobster mashed potatoes and smothered with a lobster gravy. Served with sugar snap peas. I took my time with this memorable most pleasing dish. Started with a very nice French Onion hot and so cheesy soup and a simple but fresh salad. Only issue was choosing among 3 chocolate cakes for the finale. Yes there were several other treats offered on the tray but I had tunnel vision once the chocolate dishes came in to view. I have been to Wards Bridge many times under several different owners. Currently the menu is typical continental, seafood, steaks, chicken, and ribs. I had a sausage pasta which was very good. We were there on a Saturday night and the restaurant and bar was very busy. We had reservations and our table was ready as soon as we wanted it. The general opinion at the table (amongst our table of six) was that the food was good, but the service was excellent. Despite being busy, we never had to wait for drink refills, bread refills, etc. Everything came as ordered and the waitress checked back with us often. I would definitely recommend this place . They also have a simpler (and less expensive) bar menu. read more

I've had brunch/lunch items and have been pleased every time. 3 out of 3 times being happy is hard to find, but not here. They have the most delicious chicken enchilada soup that I wish was all u can eat (but maybe it's a good thing that it isn't because I would never stop). I ate dinner there recently with my family and have to say that he food is really delicious. We had steak as well as fish and some variety of appetizers between all of us and every single order was perfect. The atmosphere is also very cozy so great on a cold winter day. They usually have a fantastic dessert tray so be sure to save room. Staff is hit or miss. I'm on the younger side of their usual patrons and I bring my son about half the time, however I'm a good tipper. I can tell that when they haven't served me before and think I'll probably be a lousy tipper that the service reflects that. I've worked in foodservice ladies, I would never cheap you out. The last server that treated us that way actually came back after she took the check and thanked us. Hopefully next time we have her, she will be nicer. Rande is always a fabulous server and has never been anything but gracious to our family and friends when we bring them in. The other ladies could take a page from her book and not pre-judge patrons. We are local to the area and as with most people, we seem to over look place in our own back yard. The food is a hit and miss. My party of three ordered three totally seperate dishes. My wife ordered the Tuscan Chicken and was...O.K. with it. It was somewhat bland but the portion was HUGE. The sandwich was prepared lopsided and it was a battle to incorporate bread, chicken and toppings all in the same bite. Three bites into the meal and she went to the knife and fork for assistance. Overall, it wasn't to bad, but somewhat of a battle to eat it. My son ordered the burger with cheese. The cheese was burnt and the burger came very well done. He ordered it medium rare, i guess that it was understood as a suggestion ad not a request. The fries were some of the best that they ever eaten and again, the portions were huge. I ordered the Chicken/Artichoke and Rigatoni. That was outstanding and the portion was huge. Being Italian, we never order Italian food out of my house since that's all we eat at home and nobody ever comes close to my wife southern Italian cooking. But their pasta is very well done, spiced and served. The building is done in a confusing eclectic array of country, Italian winery, formal and informal all at the same time. The chairs are asian, the walls have several different colors and the beautiful tin ceiling was painted over in a cream color. The waitress was doing a one woman show that day so I can't falt her for the very slow service, that can be attributed to a small Sunday staff. All in all, I would go back and keep my order simple. I would like to see a dress code of sorts. Eating in a restaurant next to someone in a tank top, shorts and flip-flops isn't my idea of finer Sunday eating.
