This is my go to for a nice homestyle breakfast or meal. It feels like being in someone's kitchen, sometimes there is a thrift sale going on next door. You can get a decent meal for what it should be, not these ridiculous prices charged at other restaurants. What a fantastic place. Park and enter from the back. I love biscuit and gravy, the King being Hardees, and I judge all others by that measurement. This was pretty good, surprisingly good. Too much gravy though, or not enough biscuits. The ratio was off I can't be certain if the biscuits are massed produced, but they were good to eat so no complaint. Large glass of OJ. Didn't know this place existed until I saw it on Yelp. It was a bit confusing at first when first pulling up to the place ss there is no sign outside that says "warrior cafe" As you enter inside and turn right, you'll see the small dining room. I have been seeing posts about this place for a while; but, I thought this place was for members only. Its restaurant is open to the public. I went on a Friday night and had dinner in their smaller cafeteria style dining area. The food was homemade and healthy. I had fish, vegetable and salad. Service is great. While in the DC area for a family funeral at Arlington National Cemetery last week, 10 of the cousins gathered for breakfast at Warrior Cafe Post 176 before parting ways. From the street, you wouldn't even know they have a restaurant, as it is inside the American Legion building. Thankfully, I found good reviews on Yelp and we decided to try it. All of us really enjoyed the breakfast! The servings are pretty large and the food was cooked well. All the tables were served by one waitress/server and she was good. The Warriors Cafe at the American Legion Post 176 in Springfield is literally my favorite breakfast spot! They're opened daily for lunch and breakfast, and on Fridays, they have dinners. The menu offers egg plates, omelets, pancakes, creamed chipped beef, French toast, sandwiches, wraps and subs, salads, and entrees (such as New York Strip Steak, Pork Chop, Homemade Meat Loaf, Open Face Roast Beef, etc.). I love getting their New York Strip Steak for breakfast, which comes with your choice of home fries or grits, buttermilk biscuit or toast, and 2 eggs, your style. I get my eggs over medium with home fries, extra crispy, and toast (which comes buttered up and a side of jelly). The steak is always super juicy, even though it's a New York Strip, and they have plenty of A1 and hot sauce available. If you're a coffee person, try their coffee - it's hot and fresh! The prices are super reasonable, and we have always felt so welcomed, both with the staff and with the patrons. You know that the place has regulars, as we've seen a few familiar faces with their group get-togethers! Don't forget to check their social media, as they also have theme nights and specials, such as potlucks, movie nights, seafood night, etc.! As we pulled into the parking lot of the American Legion Post 176, my wife was skeptical of my choice for breakfast. However, once we met some of the other customers and the food came out...she had to admit it was a great experience! This is not a fancy place and it reminds me of the pancake breakfast fundraisers I would go to as a kid in the Midwest. Basic tables and chairs, no booths or fancy ambiance, but delicious food and fair prices. Service was friendly and efficient, food was good (especially the omelette). Is this place amazing and classy? Nope. But it IS friendly and consistent. We go every Sunday for brunch. My go to is an omelet with corned beef hash inside. The tomato and cheddar omelet is my backup. They make what I call comfort food. The fried chicken is great! The coffee is great and they bring out a carafe so you can keep your cup hot and filled; at only $1, it is a great deal! We have had just about everything on the menu and they are all good. One problem in this area is that we don't have any diners or places that serve simple comfort food... so this fact makes the cafe a regular place for us to dine. This cafe is a well hidden gem. Was in the area for a ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and I found this place on Yelp and figured I would give it a try. I had the fried chicken dinner which consisted of 3 large pieces of chicken and two sides. My sides were mashed potatoes and green beans. Everything was delivered to my table hot! The chicken was well seasoned and moist, the sides were delicious! This very filling and tasty meal cost me $8.00! Tomorrow morning I will be there to try breakfast! Yep, this place is in the American Legion and opened to the pubic. It's one those places that has a old style look but clean. I've found that these type of restaurants have the best food, and they didn't disappoint me in any way.
