Warung Indo is THE place to go for authentic Indonesian food! Everything we had was delicious: nasi campur, nasi goreng ikan asin, lontong sayur, tempe mendoan. You really can't go wrong here. Everything is perfectly balanced between spicy, savory, and sweet. If you've never had Indonesian food before, I can recommend the nasi campur (literally "mixed rice") as it allows you to try a variety of items, including rendang - a classic Indonesian stewed beef. Unassuming ambiance plus friendly service make this place an A+ dining establishment that I would highly recommend if you're in the Houston area!

A small restaurant with a lot of Indonesian options! They also have a tiny grocery. The Soto Ayam is excellent. Very flavorful. Fried tofu appetizer is very yummy. Batagor is decent. Their sambal roa tuna fried rice is okay, I prefer more spicey. Es Campur is not to my taste. I definitely will be back to try more dishes!

For the month I have been doing a weekly challenge to try cuisines from different regions of Asia for Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage month. This week was Southeast Asia and decided to try Indonesian cuisine. I was wrapping up a work conference across town and drove to Warung Indo. I was immediately greeted by the staff as I walked in. The service was great and was asked if I had any questions? I did not but was a bit conflicted on two choices but choose the Nasi Campur mix rice. Which had steam rice, rendang, tempeh, boiled egg and a vegetable soup. For the starters I went with bakso bakar (meatball skewers) and bakwan (veggie fritters). The food was so good. I did not want it really spicy but just enough to know it is there. The rendang is hearty beef stew with a good blend of spices. The tempeh is combined with flavorful peppers. The boiled egg and vegetable soup were just as flavorful too. The bakso bakar came as a set of 3 but I couldn't help myself and ate one already haha. Good sized meatballs with a great tasting peanut sauce to add on top. The bakwan is crispy but also a nice size and amount for the order. The restaurant ambiance is cozy. It's a family run business with a good amount of seating. At the time of the visit, I was the sole patron but I am sure the restaurant fills up on busier days. I was definitely was stuffed of course because of everything I ordered. The prices are good. The main dishes and soups are under $20 and starters are under $10. Very nice family that is running the restaurant and helpful to teach me what are the dishes on the menu. I did ask about satay on the menu, unfortunately they do not have it. But everything else I ordered was great. I would love to come back. It was a great introduction for me to Indonesian cuisine.

Authentic Indonesian food here! It's a small restaurant, but it has warm and friendly staff. The staff treat you like a friend. Love the vibe. I had the lontong sayur, fried rice with chicken, and es campur. The lontong sayur was super good, so flavorful. Portion was perfect too. The fried rice was very tasty. I can only get that flavor from an Indonesian restaurant. The es campur drink has red beans, jackfruit, grass jelly, coconut, condensed milk, cendol, and syrup. It is the perfect drink to end the meal.

Small family owned and ran restaurant. Food was ok, not excitingly delicious, but also not overly disappointing. It's edible but it wouldn't be a routine visit restaurant. Some dishes were better than others, and some lacked flavor. The fried food was dripping in oil as you ate it. Food took some time to be completed but the family was kind.

A place that feels like home! We love their authentic Indonesian food, and excellent service! Our favorites are their Nasi Bakar Tuna and Chicken, Tempeh Mendoan and Ketoprak!

Authentic Indonesian restaurant! Good quality food and dessert. I love lontong sayur and cendol. The service is a bit slow, i would suggest to make a call before physically be there so that we can have our food right away. The restaurant is a bit small, more convincingly to take out instead of dine in actually. I would recommend this restaurant

It is anything but in point of fact, it is in my estimation, a unique culinary experience. I don't write from the perspective of comparing this food to other Malaysian dishes that I've had in point of fact to the best of my recollection I don't think that I've ever had Malaysian cuisine. But if this restaurant is an example, I have missed a great deal. The food is very unique the servings are very gracious charitable. The prices are incredibly reasonable given the distinction of this particular cuisine and given the portions and quality of food that is served. The service is quite simple and the restaurant is actually quite small. However, I must tell you from A service perspective. It's truthfully amazing because the takeout business is extremely active. Not to mention the fact that the chef walks out and speaks to people will share anything that you want to know about Malaysian food and obviously from the quality of the food that I ate not only is his explanation thorough but my guess is his skills are incredible. As I said it is very small so it's difficult to Alpine about the ambience other than it was quite clean and given the number of whom I suspect were Malaysian people it's obviously quite popular within that community. So I take that to be a sign that this food is quite native in nature. I had a pork meal, which is only on Sundays. I spoke to the chef about it, and he explained that the preparation started one day in advance of actually serving the meal, so I understand why it is only served once a week. Although I must tell you because I lack familiarity it seemed to me that I would be hours and hours trying to replicate any of the dishes. All I can tell you is this if you are in an exploratory mood for a cuisine and have had or have not had Malaysian before I suspect this is a place to go. Quite informal, extremely fair pricing very generous portions great service very pleasant people and frankly it's a a family affair of what you will see many when you go. Quite a lovely experience.

We were hungry, so we decided to order two entrées and the roti canai (plain). I usually enjoy roti, and while this was tasty, it was not my favorite. I think it was dryer than I've had before, so maybe I'm just used to more grease. Our first entree was the curry chicken, and it was tasty. Surprisingly there are only a few chunks of potatoes but lots of chicken. The curry sauce was good, but it was exactly the same as one of the roti dipping sauces. The star of the meal for us was the fried Hainan chicken. It has so much flavor and a nice crisp exterior. It was on the pricier side, but I would definitely recommend ordering it. They brought out a chopped ginger dipping sauce, a darker sauce, and a chili type sauce, so there were lots of options to choose from to add even more flavor to the chicken. Our food came out very promptly, the servers were very kind and friendly and seemed genuinely pleased to hear that we enjoyed the food. We definitely plan to come back!

Food - 4/5 Service - 4/5…read moreAmbiance - 4/5 Overall - 4/5 Within this busy shopping center lies this small Malaysian restaurant. Parking here will forever and always be terrible, but besides that, this place was almost entirely empty, especially for a weekend lunch (we did come almost right at opening time, but there were only like a few other customers by the time we finished). I think the main issue with this restaurant is the menu. With a wide variety of options with different cuisines, I felt that the quality of dishes was lower than I wanted. That aside, I absolutely loved the roti canai, with it being almost perfectly crispy, buttery, and tasty. The fried rice was really flavorful with the salted fish, almost verging on too strong. The curry noodle soup we got was not very strong and was a little bit disappointing. The beef tripe was so incredibly tasty, though the spice was a little bit much for my family. The beef dry hot pot was nice, though I only really liked the beef and not much else on it (some of it was bitter, other parts were just too salty). I don't think this place is terrible. We did come as one of, if not the first, customers in the restaurant, so everything was made fresh and was hot as we ate it. I just think was so much competition surrounding it in this busy shopping center, I don't think it accomplishes enough to be a go-to place for my family.

The green beans were flavorless, the sizzling pepper chicken was not spicy (we requested spicy) and no pepper, and the beef rendang was really oily.
