In spite of arriving and being seated shortly after opening, we waited for over an hour for our food, and this seemed the case for other diners as well. This is in accord with other reviewers' experiences. That's a long time to wait. Ambiance was typical of strip-mall hole in the wall. Restrooms were amazingly clean. On the other hand, the service was friendly and the food was excellent. We ordered the soto ayam (chicken noodle soup) and ayan penyei (smash chicken). The soup was quite flavorful and loaded with veggies, a nice texture and easily a meal - not your typical chicken and noodles soup. The smash chicken dish appeared to be a roasted free-range chicken, fall-off-the-bone tender and with crispy skin and a great flavor, which paired well with the accompanying rice. We were both quite impressed with the food. Overall, great food, but a horribly long wait for it. We'd like to return, but have to plan for the wait or maybe order to go. I'm giving it 4 stars for the excellent food, but should probably knock that down to maybe 3 for the wait.

They have other items and the dinner menu available, which makes it misleading if you're trying to order ahead. When I arrived and asked about it, the staff told me you have to come in person to order from the lunch menu. That's not something most people would expect, especially when everything else is posted online. As for the food, it was a mixed experience. I ordered the Kwetiau Goreng, and the flavor was good overall, but it had way too much egg, and the shrimp were pretty small. The General Joe's wings were unusually large, which felt a bit questionable. My coworker ordered the shrimp with lobster sauce and he said that those little shrimp were drowning in all that sauce. There's definitely potential here, but they should consider using larger shrimp in their dishes and making the lunch menu available online like everything else. It would make the whole ordering process a lot smoother and less confusing.

The hype is real, this rice was absolutely perfect. I can eat rice everyday of my life and this place fits right in my top 3 places with great fried rice in Katy/Houston. We got a large pork/chicken fried rice with no onions and extra egg. This dish/size could easily feed at least 4 people. I can't wait to go back and eat again and again. Trying new dishes for sure but that rice will always be part of w.e meal we go with. Super happy we finally gave this spot a try, everyone needs to check this place out if fried rice is your thing. Cheers!

We came 30 minutes after it was opened for the day, and there were already a couple parties ahead of us. We were quickly seated, and we were told in advance there was only one cook in the kitchen (Uncle Chin himself!) and that it could be a while before we get our food. We did not mind the wait, and it actually took about 20 minutes from the time we placed our order to when we got our food, so the wait was not bad at all. We ordered their Malaysian Satay. Sadly, there was no beef or combo available, and they only had chicken, but it was delicious! We also had their Laksha and their stir fried noodles. We ate everything. It was perfectly seasoned, very flavorful. There were many proteins in each of our dishes. There was plenty of parking, and despite there being only one person running the front, things went pretty smoothly. The ambiance is great for a casual date night or a family gathering. I would definitely come here again even with the same constraints they had.

It gives the place a very homey feel. The servers were all super friendly and attentive and the owner was also very kind and checked on us a few times. We also ordered a noodle dish that I forgot to take a picture of. One thing to note: I wouldn't recommend using the restroom if you can avoid it. My little one really had to go and it wasn't clean at all or well kept which was a bit of a downside especially with a kid. Overall, we had a great experience and I'm glad we finally tried it.

The restaurant is small and clean. The servers are always nice, and the foods are always delicious. I recently stopped by around 5pm on a Saturday for an early dinner for two. It wasn't busy yet when I first arrived, but more and more customers started coming in as it got closer to dinner hours. I always have to order my two favorites: Steamed Hainese Chicken Rice set and the Roti Canai with Beef Rendan. The steamed Hainese chicken here are some of the best in Houston area. It's always super tender and flavorful. I absolutely love the roti canai here. It's always light, fluffy, and just right, and I don't think anywhere else makes them as good as PappaRich.

We walked in and were immediately greeted and sat by a nice woman. We came because we were craving one thing only: Hainanese Chicken. They also have the fried option as well, but we decided on steamed. We got the half chicken and it was enough to feed 2 people. The chicken was so tender. The chicken rice was cooked perfectly, so moist and flavorful. The chicken, rice, some scallion ginger, a bit of sriracha: the perfect bite! We also had the mixed skewers (beef and chicken). The dipping sauce was good. I prefer the chicken over the beef skewers. The beef skewers were a bit tough. I wasn't the biggest fan of the seasoning they used. However, if I were to get these again, I would just opt for the chicken skewers only. If you never had Malaysian food, I recommend giving this place try. I will definitely be back to order the fried hainanese chicken.
