    Chicken Pad Thai
    Jillian S.

We ordered via Uber Eats and the delivery was excellent. Food was well packaged arriving hot! Starters were gyoza which were pillowy soft noodles stuffed with meat filling and a delicious dipping sauce- YUM! The signature edamame portion size was smaller than DI for the same price, but still packed in the delicious garlicky flavor. The vegetable spring rolls were okay- not much filling. Would have preferred one large one instead of three small ones. The salmon maki roll and crunchie crab rolls were delicious. Lastly, the chicken pad Thai---warning if you get it spicy it will be FIVE ALARM SPICY! I've had it many times at the DI location and they use sriracha - the Mount Pleasant location uses HOT PEPPER SEEDS... Never going to order it that way again! Whoa ! I could only eat a little bit for fear of how it's going to digest later! The portion of the meal was very good- a lot packed in there! Great amount of chicken, crushed peanuts, scallions, cilantro --so next time I plan to Order mild and will add my own spicy. Overall great food and another great option for delivery!

    The house special

Wasabi in Mount Pleasant is located in a shopping center with plenty of parking all around. I went twice this week and had no trouble finding a spot either time. They open at 11:30 Tuesday through Sunday. When you walk in, the restaurant is clean and inviting. There's a sushi bar to the right, a dining and bar area to the left, and outdoor patio seating as well. I think there's also a larger dining room connected to the sushi bar side. The place has a nice atmosphere with stylish and colorful accents that make it feel lively and modern. The staff were all friendly and attentive, from the host to the servers. I had the house ramen bowl and it was fantastic--pork belly, egg, mushrooms, and noodles in a rich flavorful broth. I also tried the vegetarian spring rolls and the rock shrimp tempura, which came in a creamy spicy sauce. Everything I ordered was great. They have a full bar and also serve boba tea, which is a fun bonus. The menu has a ton of options including sushi, sashimi, hibachi, Thai dishes, and even brunch items. Overall it's a really nice spot with good food, great service, and a relaxed atmosphere. I'll definitely be back.

Went for a quick bite. Ended up sitting at the bar since it was rather busy for a Thursday. Some good happy hour specials on sushi rolls and 1/2 off saki. Bartender was pretty good for the level of business. Food came quick. Their edamame is a most have. Fresh and cooked to perfection. Parking is a bit tough with so many businesses in the area. I'd definitely try this place again.

This was my first time at the Mount Pleasant location. The restaurant was practically empty on this Tuesday evening. We arrived at 6:30 and were delighted to be able to order from the Happy Hour menu. We only wanted something light anyway. My husband and I shared a few appetizers: Shishito peppers, seared scallops and rock shrimp tempura. All were delicious. I ended up ordering spicy tuna Maki and salmon avocado Maki for my main course. Both of us drank draft beer. Our waiter was a very attentive young man and everyone was friendly and professional. The food was good and I enjoyed the appetizers more than the Maki. Wasabi in Mount Pleasant is convenient for a quick light meal or even a long dinner. I'll be back.

You can tell a good Japanese restaurant by the quality of its Miso soup. Started with the Miso and found it was delicious and so I knew we were in the right spot for Sushi. We got two orders of the True California Maki Roll and wow those rolls were huge! Ate them both and felt like we took a momentary stroll into heaven. Go for it, you won't regret it!

Bugs on window frame and glass. Poor housekeeping and cleanliness standards

Food - Marginal - Chef's sashimi plate was neutral. Neither significant nor negative. House keeping - Dirty and substandard. Bugs interior on glass and window frame. After alerting the Waiter - nothing happened. Water glass returned due to caked on materials inside the glass. Booth - seat covers are falling apart. Cracked material - throughout. Makes the first impression very low. Appears that no one cares or is invested in the long term success of this location. Soy sauce - table container - empty. Overall - Mount Pleasant has other wonderful and well maintained operation - take your business there.

There's something to be said about home-grown bars, whose life is as eclectic as the owners and…read morecustomers themselves. Think about it, go to the nearest chain "bar" or "brewery" and it's all too sterile, devoid of character or worse forced character. This is where a cozy little and aptly named watering hole named "The Basement" resides. To be honest its location is a "blink and you'll miss it" other than the fact there's a protruding addon sticking out of the other uniform shops. I stopped by several months ago and it looked like an entertaining little pub but immediately left as my then girlfriend wanted coffee. I'm happy to report, I returned on a Saturday night to give it a proper go; as the British would say. I'll add that The Basement does have food, however I didn't indulge as I just came from a late lunch. To give a small bit of context, I worked at ACME bar and grill which is now Arts and I love the vibe it had as it was years of authentically cumulated goofiness from inebriated patrons . Now, inside The Basement, customers will notice hats hanging from the ceiling, dollars stapled to the support beams, the seats are weathered, picknick tables are inside with the patrons ranging from business casual to downright at home in flipflops, torn shorts and wife beater shirts. In other words, people come as they are and feel right at home. What I really enjoyed, along with the bar being the central anchor point off-center are two things. First, they have live music inside. I was with a pretty lady on our first date this evening and I don't know of a better excuse to get close and very comfortable so "we can hear each other" (I have my petty techniques yet they're affective). The music was typical low country, a couple people jamming out to familiar tunes that forced the audience to sing and toe tap. The second point is there's an arcade section of the establishment. Pinball games light up the room, a bb game, foosball, ancient arcade games like Mrs Pacman, ski ball; basically a "big kids" wonderland oozing with modern day novelties and 80s era nostalgia. All of these fun activities are vigorously guarded by an ever-watchful alligator! As for the staff, they're extremely nice and quick to serve up your favorite adult beverages that are reasonably priced. Even at 9pm on a Saturday night with the place starting to fill up, I never waited for more than 4 minutes or so. If I'm being honest with myself and I lived in Mt Pleasant, my name would change to Norm as I would be a fixture at the end of the bar. Overall, The Basement is a no-frills neighborhood bar that one can feel safe with great fellow patrons and good suds to enjoy during their stay. They offer many diversions from the normal TVs and phones which have become so prevalent. If you're in the area and the itch needs scratched stop on by and relax; The Basement has you covered in every way imaginable.

Team Trivia on a Thursday night always makes for exciting times.

We registered beforehand online for the Beginners open play from 2 to 4 on Monday. We were disappointed to find out that nobody else had registered to play on Monday. We were happy to have Tracy (an employee) come join us for a few games. We had an absolute beginner with us and two of us that have been playing for a good amount of time. So we really needed a 4th player! So thanks for joining us Tracy! This place is way more than just a pickleball business. There are two bars inside and many self-pour electronic beer dispensers. They serve food, although I didn't get to see the menu because they were hidden behind the bar and none were on display anywhere else. They have arcade games lined up along the middle of the venue. I saw a bunch of kids upstairs on the 2nd level playing video games on a TV monitor. Speaking of TVs, there are many upstairs to watch sports/shows. The upstairs is filled with tables and chairs to eat & hang-out. I hear they have some fun game nights for families on Friday nights. I heard this place has been open for two years. The staff was very friendly. They have 2 dartboards inside located in the back corner, and a smaller wall with more automated beer pour stations. I wish we could've checked out the Margarita Monday play! They have open play from 6 to 10 AM during the week, we're gonna go back and check that out. it was about a 40 minute drive from Charleston to this location for us. We will definitely be back to play while I'm in town! Try this place out for air conditioned play during the hot & humid summer!

We sat outside so we walked to that outside bar with the friendly, efficient, effective server. We also ordered food, the Butcher's Burger and a set of single ribs with your choice of sauces. Unfortunately the ribs were overcooked and thus tough to bite off and then bit chewy. The burger was quite good, with cheese and sliced pork belly to upgrade any usual burger, but this meat was thick and also had slight bit of tomato jam. Other than the underwhelming, overdone preparation of the ribs, it was a good time for all as people came and went. IMPORTANTLY, on this date, they were selling cooked oysters in small groups ALL YOU CAN EAT (when's the last time you heard that?) for $30. The profit on the oysters is going to a Down's Syndrome support group. Excellent!

I will say right off the bat, we had a weird experience with service. It was definitely a one off situation because they were hosting a private party for a group later that day, but it could have been handled way better than it was. Our server was excellent though and was trying to be accomodating, but it seemed her hands were tied. More importantly, the Lobster Roll lives up to all the hype online. It was almost a cross between a CT and ME style because it still had a very light mayo base, but was then coated it warm butter as too. The combination worked perfectly and I would say it's better than some of the lobster rolls I just recently had in Boston. We started with the Fig & Brie melt and it was stellar as well. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the warm brie was served on top of a blueberry compote in a mini cast iron skillet. The they surrounded it with sliced baguette pieces to dip. The evening we were here there was an actual singer/guitar/bouzouki/ banjo player who really is Irish! Fantastic performance and the sound system was way above what you might expect in a small establishment like this. Impressive. The ambience was friendly and festive, and though many were clearly there for socializing and not as attentive in listening to the music as we were, it did not take away from our enjoyment of it! The crowd did eventually get engaged enough with several songs to dance and sing along. As expected the Guinness was tasty and it was well poured, but the surprise was the food was really quite good. A bit of an Irish pub theme with "bangers and mash" ( grilled sausages over mashed potatoes) and the chicken curry were quite tasty and filling at a fair price. One of the wait staff was sick so the staff was a bit harried and behind when the unexpectedly large crowd arrived for the music, but it all got sorted out and they remained friendly and attentive through it all. I personally love the menu, but there are few vegetarian options, and not much in the way of salads and such. It is early yet, and as the kitchen matures and the work gets out to the locals I expect the menus will develop more options in this area. But we will definitely plan a return trip here!
