Best sushi in Mt. Pleasant hands down. I go here almost every single week. Service is always great and super fast. Fish is always fresh and delicious. One of my favorite sushi spots ever, also great for takeout and VERY reasonably priced

The food was fresh and amazing! Also super fast. We were all starving from a beach day and were welcomed by the friendly host/server. My table ordered the seafood spring roll appetizer THIS WAS SO GOOD! Seared tuna wrapped in a soft rice paper with crab, avo, cucumber, spring mix top with a sweet and savory mango sauce, seriously next level. I ordered maki rolls pictured, very good. Others ordered hibachi which came out on a sizzling plate delicious. Overall great experience, awesome food and affordable.

Great service, okay sushi. The rolls were decent but the sashimi platter was not high quality.

The epitome of mediocrity Food? Meh Service? Meh Value? Meh Wasn't expecting much walking in but the food really wasn't anything special. Their fish isn't the freshest either. Prices are above average for the area.

Overall a warm feel on the inside. A quiet atmosphere and all hands on deck service. Food came out very quickly. Let's start with the first thing we got. Miso soup. WOW! It was great. Then, there was the gyozas. Also great. Then we had the yaki udon with chicken. If you're looking for your udon in a broth, this is not the dish for you. I typically like a more sauced up udon than what this was, but I will say there was definitely a sufficient amount of chicken. Onto the sushi, LOL !! Buddha's belly was relatively good with a nice crunch, however, it was one of those sushi rolls that I preferred wasabi on, if you know what I mean . The Charleston roll was cut into pieces that were perfectly bite-sized, but nothing too special. However, the presentation was licky. Then they gave us a free little dessert on the house! Sweet, LOL . Would go back and would recommend to try.

This used to be one of my favorite places to go. Prices were reasonable and food great. We did takeout tonight it was very bland. Usually there's tons of flavor. Steak was way over cooked and dry too. After a few bites I see a hair. Super gross. I tried to keep eating and found another hair. It happens but more than one, too much. I called and just got an apology. Very upsetting as I was craving food from there all week. Not running back there anytime soon.

Service is lacking. Our server's first words to us were "go ahead". Food was dropped on the table in a rush, although the restaurant wasn't busy. The food was decent but no better than freshly made supermarket sushi. The name taro suggested that they serve taro. Their famous taro roll has none. Prices are much cheaper than other local sushi restaurants. We saw the entrées and they looked huge.

    Do they do happy hour?

My all time favorite sushi place!!! No happy hour but 1/2 price wine Sun-Wed and I think 1/2 price Sake a couple of day's a week.

Do you still serve blue fin tuna?

Yes...it is labeled as seasonal and price is dictated by the market

I ordered the sweet potato roll and swapped the seaweed for soy paper, which I highly recommend. The roll itself was very delicious, and I added tempura flakes for a little crunch. In hindsight, I probably should have asked for extra eel sauce because the flakes made it a touch drier, but the flavor overall was still really good. My husband ordered the GMC roll, which is a spicy crab roll, and that was also included in the buy one, get one special. He really enjoyed it. He also got his go-to salmon roll and requested brown rice instead, and all of the customization instructions were followed perfectly. We also tried the vegetable potstickers. The other option was beef, which we passed on since those are often made with pork as well. The vegetable version just wasn't really my favorite personally, but that may come down to preference more than preparation. Overall, everything tasted fresh, the order was accurate, and it ended up being a really delicious takeout option. After seeing the menu and specials, I can absolutely understand why this place gets mentioned as one of the top happy hour spots around. Some nights even feature all-you-can-eat sushi specials, which honestly sounds wild for sushi prices these days. Definitely glad we finally gave it a try, and now we want to check it out in person for happy hour next time.

Strangely, mine was brought to me packaged for takeout; I don't know why their in-house ordering would default to that but maybe I hit a wrong button? Maybe some room for process improvement there, but they didn't give me any trouble about transitioning to a dine-in bowl. Their vegetable ramen is promised with a citrus note and there were discernible little bits of yuzu in it. The tofu it comes with is marinated in something sweeter, which wasn't my favorite flavor combination but is typical to the cuisine. I found the flavor improved with tableside spices; they have both a black pepper mix and a house chili powder. The portion size was not huge, and even adding extra inari on the side just satisfied my cravings, and this was after I'd had breakfast. There were some Japanese-speaking people dining there who seemed to be slurping approvingly. I could imagine having had a better experience, but the quality of broth and noodles was worth coming for me.

I appreciated how they filled their spicy tuna rolls with chunky pieces of fish instead of the usual ground tuna used in other sushi restaurants. Their offerings and methods of preparation, paired with their higher price point, suggests they are a higher end establishment. However, the atmosphere was undoubtedly on the casual side, and their service, although friendly and knowledgeable, exuded a lack of experience and the same attention to detail that they put into their food. This was especially apparent after coming from eating at other restaurants in a similar price bracket, where you can sense the waitstaff had a lot of pride and passion for their craft, and it didn't feel like it was just a job for them. In contrast, our experience at Shiki felt far more transactional, and lacked that "customer obsession" and genuine warmth. That said, it's difficult to judge a restaurant's culture just from a single night, and maybe other customers had a different experience from us. Ultimately, if good sushi is your priority and you are willing to splurge a bit, Shiki meets and even exceeds that bar.

They exist, but some of the best are so unassuming you can walk right past them. Shiki is exactly that kind of place--a small, warm, inviting restaurant tucked into a strip mall that feels like a neighborhood secret. Loc, our waiter, greeted us as soon as we sat down with water, a friendly welcome, and a helpful walk-through of the menu. We started with wine and sake--always a promising beginning. The first course was seaweed salad with baby octopus, and I could have happily sipped that dressing like a cocktail. Light, bright, perfectly balanced, with tender octopus that added just the right bite. From there we decided to sample our way through the menu and ordered a lineup of rolls: Spicy Yellowtail, Spicy Shiromi, Rainbow, Spider, Lemon Salmon, and Eel. Each one seemed better than the last. The Spicy Shiromi was the clear standout--absolutely spectacular. What really sets Shiki apart is that every roll has its own distinct flavor instead of the one-note sameness you find at so many sushi spots. You can tell real care goes into the preparation. If you're searching for fresh, thoughtful, genuinely delicious sushi, don't overlook this little gem. Shiki is the real deal.
