Chicken LoMein with broccoli and Onion Amazing
    Jacqueline J.

First or Final Stop on any Food Tour ~ On my second day of Vacay, the family decided to try a cheaper meal that wouldn't damage our wallets and Yelped something close on James Island. We were looking for something under $100 as that seemed to be the going rate for a family of 5 these days. When we saw Fire Grill, we busted a U turn and pulled in. As we entered, I immediately smelled the tantalizing smell of teriyaki. The place was spacious and clean and we found our table. We made our way to the counter to place our order and our team member that helped us was courteous and took our orders promptly. While we browsed the nice sized menu, we settled on the: 1. Gyoza : delicious and plump. Served with a delicious sauce. 2. Chicken LoMein: chicken was very tasty with well seasoned meat and fresh crisp broccoli. The seasoning was perfect and the portion was perfect. 3. Chicken wings: niece ordered Crispy wings and beef and rice. The beef was succulent and the rice seasoned to perfection. 4. Chicken Satay: succulent with a light hint of curry seasoning underneath. 5. Telfair Sushi: lightly fried and tasty and served with eel sauce, (not for people with gluten allergies) my brother will suffer tonight ~.. but he loved it ... The food and service were amazing and definitely one of the highlights of my vacation so far. The team did exercise COVID measures and wore mask to protect their customers. Definitely a terrific stop on this post COVID Vacation~ while I'm a Texas convert, I'll always love my Carolina roots and this was a nice treat on my back home tour. Highly recommended Ms. Foodie Da Islandgal29412

So delicious and affordable. We had a great date night tonight. Our server was amazing as well. My husband was very impressed with his sushi and I loved my hibachi. The hot sake was just right!

Food here was very good as was the service. We had a big party and they managed to push some tables together to seat us. They were very nice and quick with their service and all the food was delicious. The seaweed salad and edamame were very good. I had chicken teriyaki and man, was it yummy. The chicken was really flavorful and cooked perfectly. It was also very affordable. The bill for all 9 of us was only $144. Definitely a great place to try if you like Asian food.

Great grab and go sushi spot! I really enjoyed the wontons, spider roll and shrimp teriyaki bowl! Food was delicious and affordable! Looking forward to trying their hibachi next!

I had a hankering for hibachi today, so I decided to order some chicken and shrimp lunch. Pretty much got what I expected. Didn't fully fulfill my hibachi needs, but it tempered them for the time being.... Shrimp and chicken both over cooked. Rice a little plain. Veggies were the best part of the dish... most likely going to order from this place again, but probably won't order this same meal.

We got hibachi shrimp and steak, teriyaki chicken, gyoza and the Telfair sushi roll. The sushi was really good! Everything was great, I wish I had gotten a bit more steak and shrimp for the price but overall I would recommend this place as a convenient hibachi fix. Will definitely be back.

Steak Bowl with fried rice was awful. No seasoning on steak and all rice had was a little bit of soy sauce.

The shrimp made my kids sick. Gross looking and I knew it looked odd but I didn't stop them from eating it. Never again and buyer beware.

Then on to the issues here are the following: The hostess with the most-ess and the failed system of reservations and lack there of, no matter how far out you plan in accordance becomes a major debacle when arriving and leaves a poor taste in your mouth. Not to mention the huge snarky attitudes and negative undertones received from the hostess's staff. Literally, I witnessed the young black female this past Saturday evening, Kamaya, I believe is her name display a fake disposition, associated with a fake smile and then spoke negatively of patrons behind their backs, under her breath. I get it, they can't control diners who linger around after being serve and or can't control or predict, when they decide to leave so others are able to be seated and served in a timely fashion. But, I would suggest, to always remain very transparent and do not force bogus rules of rushing a party to arrive early and then convey a message that states your table will be held for 10 minutes and then released/ cancelled. When a party, such as ourselves, arrive before time and then are told that your party will not be seated until all parties are INSIDE the building, even though they are trying to find a park in this small parking lot. Finally, all parties of your group are present and accounted for, standing in your face still within the time frame mentioned. Then to be told, you now have a few tables ahead of you and the wait is approximately 20 minutes. Really? But in actuality you and your guests now wait 40 to 45 minutes after your scheduled reservation. All the while witnessing them seat random small parties that walk in after your large group with an actual reservation. I know this because I listened as I stood idly by the hostess desk. One or the management of this establishment need to focus on revamping this failed system and have some of your hostess to work on their attitudes. Last I checked, it is patrons such as myself that keeps them employed and your business successful and thriving. Also, a word to all other patrons, if you desire a table greater than a party of 12, prepare to pay a deposit of $10 pp but you still will probably have to wait for your reserved tables. The only thing that made me come back to this place was a special request from my daughter for her birthday and our amazing Chef Marcelino, and Gee, our server was pretty cool as well. Needless to say, with all of the hoops, unnecessary rules and lack of communication, unwarranted attitudes, rehearsed apologies and lack of organizational skills, it will be a while before we return to this establishment, if at all! There are too many restaurants here in the Low Country who strive for professionalism and actually value their patrons without the blatant disrespect from their hostess desk. I would give, 5 stars for Marcelino and Gee but 1 star for the hostess desk! Do better!

The bar is hidden away in a parking lot where it is difficult to turn into from the other side of the road because of a barrier so you have to make a u turn up the road a little bit. The place itself is kind of small. I sat at the bar but I'm not sure why but it felt a little off. It didn't feel like a normal sushi bar where I felt like I was able to see the chef prepare the food I'm not sure if there was some kind of height disproportion or if the glass with food was blocking the way. The staff was friendly but there did seem to be some kind of miscommunication between the server and the chef when they were doing hand offs on top of the bar. It might be better to do food handoffs at the open corner to the side so the waitress didnt have to reach high and over customers although maybe it is different when it is busy since I was the only one at the bar. The food itself was delicious although I must admit I can't tell the difference between normal sushi. I would rate this as normal sushi. To put things in perspective bad sushi would have dried out rice or fish that tastes a bit off in a bad way. Amazing sushi would be something that just tastes so different but in a good way. Could be a cute casual date spot or even a friend group meet up spot. Keep in mind the space is limited but it shares the menu and space with Taste of Thai next door. I havent been into Taste of Thai yet so I can't talk about the spacing in there.

I appreciated how they filled their spicy tuna rolls with chunky pieces of fish instead of the usual ground tuna used in other sushi restaurants. Their offerings and methods of preparation, paired with their higher price point, suggests they are a higher end establishment. However, the atmosphere was undoubtedly on the casual side, and their service, although friendly and knowledgeable, exuded a lack of experience and the same attention to detail that they put into their food. This was especially apparent after coming from eating at other restaurants in a similar price bracket, where you can sense the waitstaff had a lot of pride and passion for their craft, and it didn't feel like it was just a job for them. In contrast, our experience at Shiki felt far more transactional, and lacked that "customer obsession" and genuine warmth. That said, it's difficult to judge a restaurant's culture just from a single night, and maybe other customers had a different experience from us. Ultimately, if good sushi is your priority and you are willing to splurge a bit, Shiki meets and even exceeds that bar.

They exist, but some of the best are so unassuming you can walk right past them. Shiki is exactly that kind of place--a small, warm, inviting restaurant tucked into a strip mall that feels like a neighborhood secret. Loc, our waiter, greeted us as soon as we sat down with water, a friendly welcome, and a helpful walk-through of the menu. We started with wine and sake--always a promising beginning. The first course was seaweed salad with baby octopus, and I could have happily sipped that dressing like a cocktail. Light, bright, perfectly balanced, with tender octopus that added just the right bite. From there we decided to sample our way through the menu and ordered a lineup of rolls: Spicy Yellowtail, Spicy Shiromi, Rainbow, Spider, Lemon Salmon, and Eel. Each one seemed better than the last. The Spicy Shiromi was the clear standout--absolutely spectacular. What really sets Shiki apart is that every roll has its own distinct flavor instead of the one-note sameness you find at so many sushi spots. You can tell real care goes into the preparation. If you're searching for fresh, thoughtful, genuinely delicious sushi, don't overlook this little gem. Shiki is the real deal.

This visit we found they no longer offer their cocktails, which was a disappointment because it was one of the reasons we came out. The daily menu cannot be found and for a $200 dinner, I'd like to know what will be available. This night a few things on the menu were not available, which also gives one pause. That being said we loved the Yellowtail, and the Baby Romaine was delicious!!! Brisket, was bland and dry, and at $32..a shame to serve. Not sure where the English pea and potatoes were. The sesame noodles were wet, drippy, and had no flavor. We'd go back in a heart beat for dessert. While it wasn't what was supposed to be offered, the passion fruit sorbet and the toasted blueberry/cake compote were sublime. The meals here are to be like a tapas, and shared, which really raises the prices. And since each plate may be one bite each for 4 people, you can see how quickly your bill will climb. Sharing a weekly menu on the website and bring back your amazing cocktail menu would be nice. Folks should try this place for their own opinion, but with so many spots around, twice may be enough for us.

Their vegetable ramen is promised with a citrus note and there were discernible little bits of yuzu in it. The tofu it comes with is marinated in something sweeter, which wasn't my favorite flavor combination but is typical to the cuisine. I found the flavor improved with tableside spices; they have both a black pepper mix and a house chili powder. The portion size was not huge, and even adding extra inari on the side just satisfied my cravings, and this was after I'd had breakfast.
