For comparison my favorite sushi place is a restaurant in Opelika. For $10.99 you can get the Sushi Combo lunch box. It comes with your choice of roll, 6 pieces, plus 6 pieces of California roll and they average around the diameter of a half-dollar and are about the same in width (sorry I could not think of a comparative object.) The first plate had great portion sizes on it. When the waitress took it back to correct it my portion sizes got smaller. And because it had to be remade I had to wait an additional 15-20 mins. This was to be a dinner date with my husband and I and we ate at separate times. The service was subpar at best. I don't know if our waitress was new, frazzled, or nervous but she was off from start to finish. Had issues taking the order, spilled the husbands (hot) soup on the table, brought the wrong order, had to be asked for refills on drinks, felt a little rushed in ordering (we asked for some time as we wanted to order sushi first and then food) but came back within 1 minute requesting our order. Yum! Usually when I try new places, there's always at least one roll I order that I regret... but not this time! Every roll we ordered was delicious! I didn't get pictures of everything because it was all eaten so quickly. Service was amazing. The MUSIC choice was great, as it was not your usual instrumental, on playing selection. The cleanliness was perfect. The bartender and entire restaurant team put in effort to maintain the already clean dining room and cooking area. My wife and I have come here a total of 3 times, and this is our Sushi place. We've been to a few others around Columbus and this is the place to go for both the cost and the quality. The facilities are very clean and during all of this COVID stuff they are still offering Dine-In, all their employees wear masks, and I saw them sanitize tables multiples times. The service is very good the waiter checked in on us constantly and met all our needs. Food is delicious too. Krab rangoons are marginal but the Steamed Gyoza is very good. We like to eat a lot so we always get the Sushi Deluxe (plus it typically comes out a little cheaper). Their specialty rolls have a good flow of textures and the flavors mesh well. We've only had 2 rolls that we haven't been a fan of. Their eel sauce and spicy mayo are very delicious and are of good consistency. Except to wait about 20 minutes for your food, but again we ordered 55 pcs of sushi haha. read more

Sushi is life. I have spent my life searching for the best sushi all over the US. I have found it in some of the most unsuspecting places. It is all about the freshness of the fish and the selection. If you have a menu that shows your options..be sure it is a reflection of what you offer. I was disappointed that Wasabi did not have Fatty Tuna, Red Snapper, or a hand rolled Spicy Tuna...as indicated on there picture menu. Their seaweed salad was delicious and the clear soup was also very delectable. As far as sushi goes, I eat Nigiri and settled for the Unagi which was actually exquisite!! I will return and I am hopeful they will have a better selection of Nigiri. I do not eat rolls. If you eat sushi rolls, their menu seems fairly adequate for the amateur sushi patron. read more

However, our server was very quiet when speaking and not outgoing at all, and not helpful with the menu items . the water was clean, and crisp, ordered the Gyoza appetizer, and the spring roll appetizer. The Gyoza appetizer there was stellar, however, little pricey, the fresh spring roll appetizer was a complete and utter failure. There was one piece of shrimp in one roll. That was it. The rest was just a spring roll of vegetables. The peanut sauce, however, was amazing ordered the love boat deluxe, which was supposed to have 68 total pieces overall lacking in flavors, we're supposed to get a custom roll, however was never asked about what role we wanted. The octopus was extremely rubbery. The presentation was beautiful however, would not paid 80 bucks for that amount of lacking flavor. Also ordered the chicken tempura appetizer. It only came with two small chicken strips and a bunch of fried vegetables major disappointment we do not recommend buying the temporal was excellently cooked however, no flavor and only two pieces of chicken come on really. I was recently at a sushi place in Tampa, FL and ordered something similar to the sushi and sashimi deluxe here at Wasabi and at Tampa, the nigiri sashimi pieces were nice and thick while the sushi rice was bite sized but here, the sushi rice was your typical grocery store nigiri size (about 2-3 bite sizes big) and the sashimi on their nigiri was thin.. the sashimi wasn't the best choices, we didn't get the best parts of salmon and we got really thin slices of octopus. Onto the service, it was busy I guess but if you're busy, shouldn't you be hiring more people? We have the owner who I think is working the register and as a hostess but she also tells you brb because she busses the tables because there's no one to do it to clear tables for customers quick enough. I ordered a to go and about $75 worth for 2 people. Was told 30-35 mins and when we came back in 35 mins, we waited another 15 mins when I clearly saw my order that was ready by sushi chefs. The owner was too busy handling bussing, payments, seating customers, and helping doordash that it took about 5 mins for her to finally ask me what I'm here for and then another 10 mins just telling me to wait. A server came by in the chaos and asked if I was picking up and what my phone number was but I said I ordered in store and she was fumbling as to how to help me without a phone number. Another customer who made a phone order came in and she was helped right away after she told me to wait. I had the receipt in my hand tht I could've shown her and she saw that I holding the receipt. This place's service was absolutely atrocious. I'm glad and I'm not sorry that I did not tip. This place needs to hire more people. 2 stars is only for the edible sub par food. After reading all the reviews my husband and I decided this was the best sushi place in Columbus The reviews all pointed to it, this was our first time eating sushi in Columbus so Prepare to be fooled by the outside because as soon as you walk in it's bright lights and the atmosphere is rowdy and very busy, don't expect a quiet and reserved space (Friday night) We ordered a sushi deluxe and waited over an hour to get our food, people who got there after us got their food before we even got our water. The appetizers were decent the coconut shrimp had the perfect crunch and served its purpose, doesn't fill you as you wait. As for the sushi, it's all up to you whether you want quality or quantity, for quantity the sushi deluxe is good because it has three good rolls and the rest are basically there to fill; tuna,cucumber and salmon for only 45 But if you're looking for quality I'd say just order the individual rolls. As for the mochi I've never had it dressed with whip cream and chocolate, wasn't quite fond of that. Overall wasn't a fan of this sushi place, wouldn't even recommend it. read more

Wasabi is one our favorite restaurants here in Columbus. We've been to the Bradley Parkway location many times but never to this Whittlesey one, so we thought we'd try it for lunch. Its just as beautiful inside as the other restaurant. We were seated right away and we ordered right away. The Bentos are such a great deal, are filling, satisfying, and why we come for lunch. I saw a fellow Yelper leave a tip about checking in for 50% off an appetizer, so of course i checked in. the staff were particularly pleasant here, over the bradley location. My son ordered the shrimp tempura bento and i ordered the salmon teriyaki bento. I chose veggie tempura for appetizer. Their tempura anything is always so light and perfectly crispy. I love it. My salmon was so good! It had a great tasty sear to it on the topside, i wanted more! We ended up bringing home extra tempura, gyoza, and sushi roll. It'll make a nice snack for my boy later on. New to town and needed some sushi, Wasabi popped up and said "sure". Place is in a little strip with five guys and sport clips, but their first score was Sapporo on tap. I bought into the discounted appetizer and went with the gyoza, no issues there. Yelp says I'm rolling right now but let me tell you about the rolls I had tonight. I had the dragon and the auburn. I can't tell you which one was better because they were both great. Nice size and just plain delicious. Very nice restaurant that we patronized while on our bike trip to New Orleans. We stayed our first night of our trek in Columbia, Georgia. We were very lucky and dodged the bulk of the heavy rain storms along our route. We were weary and needed a break from the first 440 miles in the saddle. Got to the hotel, chilled with a couple of cocktails and searched Yelp for food suggestions. Sushi sounded great and the restaurant was about 200 yards from us in the mall area. The restaurant was very nicely decorated in an modern Asian design. The hostess quickly seated us though she appeared a bit disinterested and unfriendly. Our server came right away. She was the opposite of the hostess, she was very friendly and helpful. The menu was extensive, sushi/sashimi, udon, hibachi, Katsu, etc. We had gyoza and tempura appetizers. Then had 4 different rolls and all were delicious. Another plus is that the prices were very good.
