We came by Friday after work and were surpised how empty it was for Clayton. We sat there for probably an hour or so and had a couple drinks. I just drank the mango crush martinis, my husband had a japanese manhatten before switching over to the martini with me. The drinks were FANTASTIC, very well made, and the Happy Hour price made them so justifiable. Probably one of the better deals in the area for the quality of drink it was. We split a couple appetizers and a couple Happy Hour rolls as well. Everything was SO GOOD. The waitress was super helpful in making recommendations on rolls, and she killed it. However, this new location and staff and quality is not one that impressed me nor will I be returning. I arrived when they opened. It was a few minutes before someone approached me. It was another 1/2 hour before received food(all Ordered at beginning). The portions were small rolls yet for $17 is absolutely not worth it. The tuna and salmon didn't taste to what I expect at any high end restaurant. Very disappointed and not on my return list. For the cost of lunch, I left hungry and disappeared. Came here on on a weekday, it was pretty dead, just like most things generally are in st louis after hours. to be fair, clayton is a work area, so it make sense that there wouldn't be many people in the area after hours, but still this place probably only had one other table that was occupied, so that was a bit strance the table i sat at wasn't the cleanest. there was something weird on my seat that i had to clean off myself, so i was a little annoyed about that. as for the menu, they have a pretty regular selection of sushi, most of the things that you could probably they want in terms of raw fish, they should have, so that's one of the better points about this restaurant i myself got sakura delight, which is a roll plus six pieces of sushi. for $29 dollars i thought it was fairly expensive, but that's kind of how sushi is typically. what surprised me is how small the order was. it really wasn't very substantial, and i felt like i could still eat afterwards (final price came out to like $35). overall i don't think i would come back. maybe this place has a good enough lunch combo at the right price which makes coming here worth it, but i really didn't think so for my visit read more

My daughter and I went for lunch, and the food was so delicious, like always. They do have a lunch menu, which makes it a little cheaper. The lunch portions are a filling size, and we even had leftovers. It was super cold in the restaurant but it was 100° the day before we went and 70° the day we went. We went to Wasabi on Valentine's day, we both really had a sushi craving and we were calling up places for a last minute reservation with not a lot of luck until showing up here. You could tell they were having a crazy day all the staff looked really busy the entire time but I was impressed with how often they still got around to us. We both got drinks while waiting on the food, just beer and wine, both which were good. Then got our rolls which were delicious. I got shrimp the tempura roll and veggie roll. the place was very open, clean looking, and very nice. However, if you were thinking of going to wasabi for sushi I would recommend going somewhere a little more reasonably priced! All of the rolls there are 9 dollars or more unless you go Tuesday for their 7$ roll special! There wasn't anything particularly wrong with the sushi and it was beautiful but the taste didn't really stand out. However, their fried rice was pretty good and it was clean in shop! Pretty rough at every turn. Tried the spicy edamame and it was covered in ketchup. Made the mistake of order a roll on a flaming plate and the green goo smelled awful and seeped into the bottom of my roll. A group of us went here for lunch last week. The service was terrible. The man who waited on us was less than friendly and it felt like a burden to have to wait on us. Love Wasabi for work lunches with my colleagues. I have only been here twice, but both times the food and service were excellent. This time, I ordered the bonsai roll and the vegetable roll. Both were very fresh and an exciting combination of textures. My favorite part about Wasabi is that they have interesting curated rolls for vegetarians, which is often not the case. There is street parking directly outside and on the streets around Wasabi, and there is also a garage in the Centene building that contains Wasabi. Although I am not 100% sure, but I imagine they would validate tickets from the parking garage, as I know other nearby restaurants do. Highly recommend giving Wasabi a try! read more

If you are a regular around here you know I eat at several Wasabi locations around town very regularly. On Tuesday 5/16, the Cortex location did not have online ordering on so I ordered from this Clayton location. It's on my way home from work and I figured it would all work out. I ordered a Spicy Omega roll, a Playboy roll, and a Crazy roll. This isn't Wasabi's fault but when I got there there's nowhere to park and no designated pickup spots to pull into. Not even across the street. For reference Wasabi is located right on Forsyth by Pastaria, Centene, etc. Yep, it's a busy block. I called the restaurant and explained my dilemma after I had driven around the block like three times. The guy was super nice and told me to double park by the red truck and he'd bring my order right out. I got out of Clayton in one piece and got home to enjoy my sushi. I was super disappointed when I opened the box. The Spicy Omega roll is supposed to have sweet chili sauce on top. It appeared someone mixed that with mayonnaise. The Playboy roll is supposed to have Wasabi trio sauce on top. It had plain white mayonnaise. Not only that it seemed like somehow it had gotten warm and all of the mayonnaise was melty. It just didn't taste fresh or the way it usually does to me. For a frame of reference I have checked into the Cortex location 17 times and the Town & Country location over 70 times. I don't think I would return to the Clayton location and this dinner forced me to take a little sushi hiatus. We always order the standard miso soup and edamame which never disappoint, but the real stars are the rolls. Wasabi is good. It's not the best sushi I've ever had, but it's consistent and keeps coming back. They have a great happy hour deal and an awesome discount on Tuesdays. The menu has a lot of variety, but I think I've only had most of the sushi rolls and their chicken teriyaki. I'm a fan of their bento boxes as well if you don't want to go the purely sushi route. I am a bit disappointed they removed their tempura ice cream from the menu, but maybe that's for the best. One thing that annoys me is their changing loyalty program. At first it was just a card they swiped, then you gave your phone number, and then recently they changed to another program that also requires just a phone number but they didn't properly transfer everyone over. The new happy hour on Mondays is awesome! In case you haven't heard, the Monday all night special is "all rolls are $6 except one roll." You can't beat it! I came in last Monday for happy hour and got the Itchiban roll and the Rainbow Roll. Both rolls were good and filling! The Itchiban was very flavorful and had an interesting mix of flavors. My friend liked her rolls as well. For dessert I got the brownie bite cheesecake, and my friend got a heaping bowl of green tea ice cream. She loved her ice cream! My cheesecake was very, very sweet which I was looking for, however the small chunks of brownies were a bit over the top for my taste buds. I definitely got my money's worth with that dessert. Our waiter was really cool and friendly. He checked on us frequently and engaged us with conversation throughout our time there, which was nice. Come for the Happy Hour if you do nothing else! I decided to give wasabi sushi bar a chance and I'm really glad I did. We stopped in and the place was basically empty except for one or two diners. We grabbed a seat at the bar and started to check out the menu. I was happily surprised how many vegan options were available. I started with sweet potato roll, avocado roll and a veggie roll. They were all extremely good. I would definitely come here again. I like the atmosphere too even though the place was empty and some of the recent reviews weren't that great, I'm glad I give this place a chance.
