All you can eat portion: stir-fry shrimp udon

Service wasn't very good, and the vibe was uncomfortable. There was a cooking show on for background noise rather than music, very annoying. Shrimp udon was great! But fried rice and chicken was very dry and bland. Overall Food wasn't bad at all but not good enough to endure the uncomfortable environment.

AYCE Nigiri

Stopped by for AYCE sushi because I saw this place had opened up on social media. I've frequented many other AYCE restaurants and am used to the chefs packing on the rice, but this is the first place I've been that has packed on the rice while also giving you a sliver of fish. This persisted even after asking for less rice, and if anything, it seemed like they doubled down and gave even more rice. The waiter said, "it's better than Sushi Ai though, right?", which was wrong. To top it off, it felt like the entire restaurant was waiting to eat with ~20-30 minutes in between AYCE orders. Would avoid this spot.

As someone who grew up in Southern California eating excellent sushi, and who has also enjoyed outstanding sushi in San Francisco, Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, I don't hand out praise lightly when it comes to sushi. Sado exceeded every expectation. We chose to sit at the sushi bar and put ourselves entirely in the hands of the chef and our server, allowing them to select our dishes throughout the evening. Every single round was outstanding. Not only was the fish incredibly fresh, but each piece was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. Our waiter explained that the fish is never frozen, which means the menu is influenced by what can be flown in and sourced at the highest quality. That commitment to freshness was evident in every bite. The cocktails were fantastic, the sake flight was expertly curated, and both complemented the meal perfectly. Just as impressive as the food was the service. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about creating a memorable dining experience. The ambiance struck the perfect balance between upscale and comfortable, making it an ideal setting for a special occasion. Is Sado inexpensive? No. But show me a truly great sushi restaurant that is. It can't be cheap to fly in fish of this quality on a daily basis, and after experiencing the meal firsthand, the value was easy to appreciate. I've had sushi in some of the world's most respected sushi destinations, and Sado belongs in the conversation as a serious sushi restaurant. I highly recommend it, and in my opinion, you simply won't find better sushi in St. Louis.

We had reservations for 5:15 at the sushi and arrived 5 minutes early, but they wouldn't seat us until 5:15 on the dot which I thought was odd. Next time we'll be sure to get there right on time! Nonetheless, our experience was incredible. Our waitress was really nice and explained the menu to us for our first time in and gave us good recommendations. From our cocktails to the sushi and dessert, everything was extremely good and presentation was beautiful. I can't wait to come back!!

While I stood at the bar to peruse the lengthy menu the lady walked near me several times in haste with a notepad prompting my order. It wasn't busy but I felt rushed. I placed the order and watched the order be prepared within a few minutes. When the lady brought the receipt I noticed 15% gratuity was added. Appalling, especially since I wasn't offered water, a seat while I waited, nor was I greeted with a hello, a smile or thanked for coming in. Maybe the automatic gratuity is the very reason for the lack of hospitality here. The lack of hostility is the very reason I will never return. P.S. the sushi was decent. There are 100 alternatives I'd rather frequent for a pleasant experience. ~Christy

The waiter was warm and knowledgeable, telling us stories and background on the food and beverage we had. His father is the chef and his mom does all the flower arrangements at the restaurant. It's beautifully decorated and sophisticated. There were two of us and we went with the 4-course $100 Omakase, which had 2 options and we did one of each: Omakase Nigiri and Chirashi. The food here was delicious and I can't remember all the items I had, but it started with a Tsukidashi tasting followed by a soup. Between the two options, I would opt for Omakase Nigiri next time. The wine and sake pairing was terrific, which introduced us to so many new beverages. Dessert is a must, especially at $5. The matcha mousse was airy and fantastic. You can dine by reservation only, and it's easy to make reservations on Tock, but need to plan ahead. .|\---/| | @_@ | ..\_^_/..2026

The dishes were really unique and had flavor combos that surprised me (Japanese potato with beet stem and peppercorn, cucumber with cooked seaweed). A couple things to note: they played no music so it was very quiet inside, they're fairly heavy handed with wasabi, and it's quite expensive. Overall, a good STL experience with the cutest little fam running it.

I've been several times now, and each time I go, they are consistently great. We usually order crab wontons and two cardinal rolls. My wife can't get enough of the cardinal rolls. The best part is that she isn't really a sushi person. It's changed her! Now we are here at least once a week these days. My son really likes the hand rolls, and he is partial to the avocado and crab one. The service is phenomenal, and they are always welcoming. The inside is quiet and comfortable. We do often use the drive through, but I prefer sitting inside. Don't go changing Yummi Tummi, we love you. It was raining the night we went and so their having an umbrella stand in the "mud room" was nice. When I asked for a hot sake, and he showed interest, the woman taking care of us said she could bring a larger serving and two cups. The wait staff were very patient with us as there was just so much mouthwatering options on the menu, it was hard for us to arrive down to what we knew we could finish. We ordered four rolls and shared all equally. It was a perfect way to try a lot of different t fishes - especially with one of the rolls being the Rainbow roll. The restaurant was quiet and intimate, a perfect date night. The lighting was enough so we could read the menus and see our food but dim enough to be romantic.
