We went here at 5:30pm on New Year's Eve to beat the crowd, and they were able to seat us immediately. The service was quick and efficient overall. There were only several tables inside, so the place is cozy and quite enough. The edamame was salted throughout, flavorful but not the most healthy. We ordered three rolls: volcano was our favorite, it has a great mixture of flavors. I used to be a sashimi person, but I enjoyed the baked rolls due to the flavor. Firecracker was tasty too. Mango crunch was a letdown, not because of the mango but the tempura in the middle. The tempura had the wrong type of dough and tasted old and soggy. I probably won't order any of their tempura dishes again if I ever revisit. Overall I still enjoyed the food and thought it's good value. read more

New Years Eve, and we volunteered to bring Sushi. Our normal go to in Scotts Valley was closed, so I had to try some place new. Thanks goodness wasabi was open, because it made me try them for the first time. The woman on the phone was delightful. She took my order for 6:30pm and I had a feeling it was going to be good. We ordered a variety of rolls that were ready and waiting when we arrived. Yam maki Rainbow roll Clare's st roll Samurai roll California roll Hamachi maki The rice was flavorful and fresh, the fish and veggies were also clearly fresh, and the seasonings and garnishes were just right. 12 pc sushi combo - the fish was vibrant, buttery in texture, and the slices were generous. All of this was just over $100! Great quality food for a really reasonable price. Our friends who live in Scotts Valley now have a new favorite sushi spot. Only downside is that it's challenging to find. 11Camp Evers is misleading in Maps. 11 Scotts Valley Drive got us to this great find, tucked up in behind Auntie Mame's, a local breakfast spot on the corner of Mt. We've been out of our house for three nights. No power up in Boulder Creek decided decided to stay at the Hilton tonight. Didn't know what we wanted to eat. We wanted sushi. We ate it all of them but we decided to try wasabi went there when they first opened. We got signed up for all you can eat sushi you get three rounds of sushi. All you could possibly ever want. We left with two bags of food. I had to pay for the to go containers which I'm not quite sure what that was all about, but all in all it was $104 so a little bit more for the three of us to eat good time. The waitress was wonderful very accommodating and sweet. Felt really bad. She got kind of bullied by some takeout orders, and we kind of heard about it because the restaurant so small. read more

I've been ordering from this new spot via Door Dash a few times and last night I finally went into the restaurant to eat. As you can expect, the food is presented so much prettier in person than via Door Dash, so that was pleasant to the eyes. Let me just say, the crunchy rice with spicy tuna on top is a MUST HAVE. I've had this at other places and no joke, the serving size here is 3 times the size. It has great texture and taste. Texture and taste is another way to describe the salmon skin salad. So flavorful and light but also filling. A very healthy and wonderful starter as well. I also had some yellow tail. Just having a simple plate can tell you a lot. The fish was nice and cold so you can tell they refrigerate their seafood well and don't over handle it. They actually put an extra slice of yellow tail rolled up on top of the two pieces. So I got 3 for the price of two. I also got a complimentary miso soup and hot tea. They were so nice and treated me like a repeat customer. I will definitely be back. Just a tip for the locals. Pricing and rules were completely fair and standard, and the quality of the fish in the nigiri was nice and plump, there was just a little too much rice in our opinion. Conveniently off the beaten path in a misleadingly quaint restaurant, the sushi rolls and sashimi are better than all of my local sushi roll restaurants in Silicon Valley (I go to many). But, the best part of the experience was the service. The main server (owner?) made my daughter a "chopstick aid" and gave us a special sippy straw cup. Also, their bathroom is right next to the kitchen and sushi bar area, and the smell from the bathroom travels to the dining area which is separated by a half-wall, so i imagine the smell permeates their kitchen at all times. I should have known better than to go to an alll-you-can-eat sushi place that is not busy. It was my first time seeing it and was curious. In order for an AYCE to work and be profitable for the owner and ensure food quality, there needs to be high demand to allow for frequent inventory turnover. It is not the case for this place. You can tell from the quality of the fish. We ordered some rolls and bento boxes and ended up not eating anything with raw fish. Salad was not fresh with brown and wilted leaves, and teriyaki chicken and salmon were not cooked properly. Just all around bad experience. This place is not good at all! I ordered take out, I ordered 3 rolls and a poke salad. This was the worst sushi I've ever had in my life. The rolls were dry, small and looked nothing like the photos. I ordered a spicy roll but it was off... It tasted like tapatio sauce... Hot sauce.. who uses hot sauce on sushi. I couldn't finish eating it. The other two rolls were edible but the poke salad was not. I took a bite and realized something was not right, I dug in and noticed the fish was a greyish pink. Not bright pink and fresh looking. It had an off taste and smell so I threw it away. I'm shocked that this made it out of the kitchen. They know that this was not good fish. From start to finish we had a wonderful experience at wasabi Sushi. Honestly, from the minute we walked in it felt like we were Visitng a friend and not a restaurant to eat. We brought our 20 month old with us and of course in his usual style he started fussing about everything. The server (I'm guessing owner) was the sweetest she could be. She made friends with him. Offered him chopsticks, a tea light candle to keep him distracted, his own bowl of miso and tofu so he wouldn't pull ours. It was raining and she offered us hot tea just as we walked in and helped us warm up, seating us next to the heater. She was so thoughtful. The food was delicious and we ordered bento boxes with a variety of items. Everything was delicious . We are home now. Warm and the baby is sleeping and we are both thinking of what a lovely experience and lovely food we had. read more

This is the most exquisite sushi restaurant I have ever been to. The food - immaculate, the service - quality, the ambiance - perfection. I first came to this place on Valentine's day - it was such a wonderful experience, I have since come to celebrate my birthday, and most recently my father's graduation from fire academy. Each experience better than the last. To top off this blissful restaurant, there is a friendly cat who lives here named Zico Wasabi, he was incredibly adorable! I had the best time dining in at Wasabi Sushi the other evening. Anna was so kind and helpful. She automatically offered hot water with lemon which is my favorite ways to start out a meal. She was very attentive and helpful with any questions I had and the food was absolutely wonderful. The chefs really know what their doing and have excellent cutting skills I was very impressed on how beautiful the rolls looked but I forgot to take a picture until we were half way through the meal. My favorite by far was the super mexican roll, the avocado was cut perfectly and the spice was excellent. I look forward to making this my semi weekly sushi place and no longer having to go all the way into Santa Cruz because this hidden gem is right down the road from me. I dined here tonight with my husband and friends. We got here at 7:15. We debated getting their "all you can eat" because it was a little pricey, when the waitress said something like "you can split it between two people", so we thought "great!" Four of us got the all you can eat meal, thinking we were getting two all you can eat orders. Service was so slow that we hadn't gotten our first roll until 8:30 and it closes at 9pm! At the end of the meal, one of our friends felt sick. He is a quiet person and he couldn't find a waiter to ask where the bathroom was, and he ended up throwing up near the table. It was super embarrassing, and we rushed to help him. When we got the bill, we were each billed $37 for all you can eat, when that's clearly not what we were told in the first place and not what we all ordered. This place also has a misleading sign that says "All You Can Eat Sushi - 50% off" and then in small letters, says "beer/sake". When we asked about the bill, the waitress called us assholes. The sushi is decent but there are other places in town. We'll NEVER eat here again. Wow. read more

When we arrived, the place was entirely empty except for one table closest to the chef's location. The waiter seated us at a table right behind the occupied table - so that our seat backs all but touched the people behind us - while the entire rest of the restaurant was empty. I should have known then to leave, but my friends had been here before, and they said it was good sushi. They were correct. I want to say up front: The sushi was excellent. But the rest of the visit was like something from Dante's Inferno. The "sushi chef" was a hefty woman working behind some kind of counter cluttered with baby seats and bassinets, or something like that. Some kind of stuff was stored on a place that may have been a sushi bar at one time. The waiter appeared to be out of his mind. We could not get him to tell us how many pieces of sushi were in an order. I belabored the point to the point of talking as if to a nursery school child, but what he said, and what he brought us, were Worlds Apart. I should remark at this point that he appeared to understand English. He spoke English. Perhaps he was on some kind of new drug that I have never heard of, or something like that. We determined, I thought, after extremely long and belabored discussion, that an order of tekka maki was six pieces, and everything else was two pieces. Standard fare... I thought. I ordered two orders of tekka maki, and two orders of Tobiko. I mentioned that I did not want to be served masago as if it were Tobiko, because this has happened to me before. Many Americans can't tell the difference. I know everyone has to make a buck, but I don't really care for ​squishy masago. Or fraud. I asked what their practice was with regard to Wasabi, and they had no special fresh Supply. He said it was just from a tube. I asked if he meant like a toothpaste tube, because some of my Icelandic friends have Wasabi like that. No, it's a green powder he said. They just mix it with water. (And this from a place with Wasabi in its name!) Okay. But just bring about 3 times as much Wasabi as you would for an average customer, I requested. A few minutes later, the waiter came back and told us he had no Tobiko, after all. Did I want masago? No, I didn't. And I'm so naive that the penny still didn't drop: It wasn't until later that I realized I had caught yet another fraudulent sushi chef trying to pass off masago as Tobiko! Since they had no Tobiko, the waiter asked if I wanted to order something else? I increased my order of ikura to 4 orders. I eventually additionally ordered four plates of standard sushi, expecting 2 pieces of each. Yellowtail, Hamachi, etc. Then I asked if they had octopus. He said yes, but it wasn't on the menu, it was at the back of the shop, and he motioned to the back of the dining area. I was shocked! "You mean it's fresh in a tank back there?" He said, "no, it's on the wall." I said, "oh, you mean the picture is on the wall?" "Yes," he nodded, and indicated for me to follow him. "Highly irregular!" I remarked to my friends, "but if that's the way they do things around here..." and I followed him to look at a poster of what looked like Saba on the wall. I thought it was an odd way to prepare octopus, but it appeared to be the right color, and When in Rome... So I placed an order for octopus along with the 4 other Single plates we had ordered in addition to 4 orders of ikura. What arrived was: 3 tiny dollops of wasabi, 12 pieces of tekka. (as expected.) Four plates of 3 pieces each of the standard sushi. (a complete surprise.) 7 (SEVEN) pieces of ikura. (How many orders is that???) and 1 (ONE) single piece of... SABA. Oh, well... I checked to make sure we could get a doggy bag, and we began to dig-in to our winnings. I started with a piece of tekka, which I generally employ as a palate cleanser. It happened to be a piece that was set off from the other five on one of the plates of tekka maki. It was apparently almost entirely Wasabi inside the seaweed wrap. Tears sprang to my eyes,​ but I figured it would be fine. I remarked to my friends that apparently the waiter thought I meant to put 3x the dose of Wasabi INside the sushi rather than ON THE ​side. I now recalculated that the 3 tiny dollops of Wasabi on the side would be more than sufficient. I should remark now that there was no apparent Wasabi inside the rest of the sushi orders. Just that one tekka roll that was standing off to the side that was supercharged. But as I mentioned in the beginning, the sushi was excellent, and with my friends' unplanned help, we managed to finish the essentially 50% more sushi then we thought we had ordered. Then the $90 check came. Under normal circumstances, I would have contested something. I felt like I was in an episode of Steve Martin's "The Forgetful Waiter," except that this guy didn't bring us change for $100 that we didn't give him.​ Instead he charged us nearly $100 for sushi we didn't order! read more
