This is my favorite coffee hangout in Denver. I tend to rotate between Cap Hill, Uptown, and Wash Park, but I definitely frequent Wash Perk most often. Great service. Wonderfully convenient. Reasonably priced. Delicious menu items. Even for a gluten free kid like me. Oh and did I mention that the coffee isn't burnt like at the chains.......... I've wanted to write this review for quite awhile. I haven't posted on Yelp because I really like and respect Terri, the owner. Over the past five years, I've frequented Wash Perk and enjoyed watching her business grow. As with any establishment, there are pluses and minuses. I thought the pluses outweighed the minuses, until today when I couldn't keep silent any longer. Several months ago, I had a rather unpleasant interaction with one of the employees who checks people out. She was rude to me and said some rather unpleasant things in our interaction. Today, the same employee checked me out and barely greeted me. When she handed my change back, she just shoved it at me and didn't say thank you or anything. She proceeded to immediately go to her Smart Phone to text or look something up on the Internet. The Barista, someone else, handed my coffee to me without a word as well. I also concur with previous reviewers that nickel and diming the customer for hot water, ice and a cup, and other things is rather ridiculous. I typically spend $7-$10 dollars a visit. I've been a loyal customer, who believes in giving people benefit of the doubt. We all have bad days, but please don't take it out on the customer. Sadly, I will probably not return to this shop. I'd rather head over to La Belle Rosette on Pearl Street, across from Lincoln Elementary. The pastries are wonderful and Scott, the owner is cordial and professional, as are his employees. I'm sure my review won't affect most people and/or their decision to frequent "Wash Perk." I just truly hope that something can be done about the rudeness of the employees. I'd highly recommend some training in providing exemplary customer service. I do wish Terri and her shop all the best and I'm saddened that I have to write this review. read more

Love the cozy atmosphere: not trying too hard, but very comfortable and inviting. A great neighborhood place to meet a friend, or grab a drink on the way to the park. However, their coffee is pretty terrible. I'm sorry to be the one to say it, but it always tastes burnt (a la Starbucks burnt style). I realllly wish they had better coffee, since I truly love this little place! But if you want good coffee (but a less chill and comfy atmosphere), check out Happy Coffee on Broadway, or even better is Corvus down south a bit! Great place to get work done, or to be social. I like Wash Perk. Super cutie, local coffee shop feel. The baristas sometimes know your name. Dog treats available for your pup. Place is always hoppin' on weekends. Expect a noisy spot if you're looking to lounge on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Not a huge fan of the coffee itself, but definitely a spot you should swing by if you're re in the area. read more

Nice little coffee shop run by great people. Did I say little? Well, I meant "house large enough to seem big when empty"--but the few times I've been there recently it has been packed like a Tokyo last call train. That' s the problem with being routinely awesome, sooner or later the fan base gets too large and you have to send in a scout for seating. Very relaxed friendly place, and the seating doubles when the weather is nice. Free wifi, be sure to ask at the bar what the code is and come early for best seating and choice of pastry. Great little neighborhood coffee shop. The staff was friendly and efficient. My husband is picky about his coffee, and he said it was good. The chai latte is heavily spiced - they don't skimp on flavor. The bakery items were good, too. My husband liked that the toaster was self-serve so he could get his bagel toasted just right. Every Friday I spend the morning at Wash Perk. It is only two blocks from my house and I regularly see people from the neighborhood in here. I am not a coffee drinker so I can't comment on the quality of the coffee although people tell me it is great. Their chai is excellent and so is there selection of muffins and pastries. Best of all I love the atmosphere, it is a great neighborhood coffee shop. read more

Just a great coffee house. I parked my car a block away and, as I got closer to Wash Perk, I got psyched as I realized that this was one of those PERFECT coffee houses -- well lit, comforable, coloful, intimate but open, and responsive to the unique neighborhood that made it possible. The coffee was good, the attitude was great. The vibe felt like one of those neighborhood "spots" you just DREAM about. Quiet, calm, but exiting. I like it here. It's a sweet place but don't even try to go on a weekend if you want to sit down. Really. I was lucky enough to get a seat but wanted a table. When I saw an empty table seat I got up to move. Before I could walk the 15 steps, someone else had taken the seat. I turned around to go back to my first seat and that had been taken. It's always like this on the weekends. I have had better luck on weekday evenings but they do close early. After being totally disappointed with Bardo's and being from LA I googled/ yelped to find a better alternative and thankfully this place didn't disappoint. They have maté, they have a friendly atmosphere, their location is not grimy, the ppl at the counter are friendly and attentive, they have less of a wannabe hipster crowd which was great. Tons of room and surge protector/ outlets their food isn't made in a microwave and everyone here overall doesn't seem obnoxious or pretentious. If I come back to Denver I'm coming here. read more

Wash Perk is my favorite coffee hang-out in all of Denver! In addition to smooth, fabulous coffee, the shop is imbued with obvious affection in the decor, seeds of change affirmations, and general sweetness of the staff. Wish I lived closer, but it's always more than worth the drive. I see other yelpers complain of problems with the internet. I absolutely LOVE this place. The atmosphere is usually very relaxing (can get a bit busy on the weekends). It's easy for me to get a couple hours of work done while enjoying a delicious drink. Coffee and atmosphere are great but the wifi is terrible. I was there roughly 20 min and had to reconnect at least 5 times. When I was connected web pages took minutes to load if they loaded at all. Pretty good coffee and a good selection of pastries.

I am usually the type of customer to let things slide when it comes to having a clean table. As a busser myself I understand when times get busy you try to clean as fast as you can so seating can be available for the next customers. So from time to time a few crumbs might be left behind. When arriving to Wash Perk it was almost vacant inside, so when I took a seat at a table I was surprised on how filthy it was. Bread crumbs everywhere with dried up coffee stains on it. You would think since they were not as busy they would take the time out of there day and wipe down the tables that are no longer being used. That wasn't the case here. Although I would say it's a great place to grab a cup of coffee and get your work done. They have free Wi-Fi and outlets scattered around the restaurant for the customers to use. So if you're ever around the area and want to grab a cup of coffee with a friend or just need somewhere to study this is the place to go. This place can easily become better if they tried to keep it a little more sanitary. read more

We were treated very rudely a Wash Perk one cold evening when their website said they were open and we drove a long distance to be unceremoniously kicked out due to a staff meeting. There was no offer of a free latte or cup of coffee for our trouble. We asked if the group could suggest a nothing place and basically got the nod off--"we're busy." How about changing your website to let others know not to drive 8 miles at night to visit your shop? And then maybe the courtesy of letting us get warm or an offer of coffee while we use Yelp to find another place. We ended up wasting 35 minutes of our meeting time looking for an open coffee shop thanks to the Wash Perk manager and staff who could not be bothered to give us a little help. Even though it's convenient for me to go there, I skip it and hit Steam or Kaladi's or Corvus. There's too much competition in this town to act rude to customers. read more
