Alexa was our server and she was great. No issues there. We were the only guests inside the establishment on a Saturday night. Maybe there was one other couple dining. Maybe but the place was basically empty so you'd assumed service would be great. The problem came to play after we ordered 2 large pizzas, a beer and wings for me, my dad, my gf and her daughter. The crust was charred for both pizzas and the waitress had to be reminded to bring me the beer I ordered. Fast forward 20 minutes after we ate and im still finishing off my beer around 9:45pm while me and my girl are still socializing. It's 9:55 and the 3 staff working are obviously getting ready to close, put away outside tables, cut off tvs and set the chairs up. The passive aggression is at an all time high bc we are the last people inside the restaurant. The issue is, the ugly manager with glasses who hasn't talked to our table the whole night has the audacity to come and let us know that they are closing at 10pm. I look at my clock and see that it's 9:58pm and no other patrons are in the establishment. I have 1/3 of a pint of beer left and I am finishing up but for the manager to basically tell us to hurry up and get out was either racist, rude or both. If you are black or Latino and want subpar pizza, rude service and to feel like you don't belong at a place go to Washington square pizza in Venice a block away from the Venice Beach Pier and ask for the manager with glasses that was closing on February 7, 2026. I came here during a rainy day and for trivia. Would not recommend for rainy day since it's not an actual indoor place so you will get wet. I love pizza. I didn't love this pizza. The first thing I asked what how big is the slice. I was told "a little smaller than Costco". No, it wasn't. In my opinion, it is half the size of Costco's, and that's okay, just don't compare yourself to them. She said it was really bad but was too embarrassed to say anything. Then, to top it off, there was confusion about being allowed to sit in the patio. Today I ordered two slices to go and the price for each slice was $5. The help here is better and the service has vastly improved. I had a slice of both the Margarita and the Pepperoni and they were fine. Both slices were crunchy and not very hot which leads me to believe they were sitting there for awhile. We have been eyeing Washington Square Pizza for what feels like ages, so we were excited to finally try it. The ambiance is genuinely one of its strongest points. It has that cute, relaxed beachside energy that makes you want to linger, grab a drink, and enjoy the coastal air. The location is fantastic since it is steps from the beach and also a great choice for sports fans because there are plenty of TVs and a lively atmosphere during games. The food unfortunately did not quite live up to the charm of the space. We ordered a classic cheese pizza and found it to be pretty mediocre. It was not bad, but it definitely did not stand out and felt more like a quick bite than something you would go out of your way for. We also tried the happy hour chicken fingers which sounded promising but ended up being subpar as well. The flavors were fine but fell short of what we were hoping for. Overall, Washington Square Pizza is a cute hangout spot with a fantastic location and a fun atmosphere, especially if you want to watch a game or grab something casual near the beach. My friends and I came here for the trivia night. We ordered the meat lovers pizza and a slice of the mushroom pizza as well as the dry rub chicken wings. We also ordered some beer. The customer service was great, and the food and drinks came out in record time. We all agreed that the food was delicious. The beers hit the spot as well. I was so excited to see a real pizza joint opening right around the corner. Well the disappointment hit hard. They want to call this NY style but except for the slices being triangular this has no resemblance to a NY slice. The flavors aren't there. Tasted like it came out of a vending machine and looked like it also. No better than the pizza the Whaler offers. WOW It has been a while since my last visit to Venice. A friend recommended this new place. Made a reservation to come with 15+ friends to celebrate birthdays and reunite with some people I haven't seen in a long time. The staff was AMAZING. They were welcoming, engaging, and seem to always be right there when I needed something. They helped ensure everyone was taken care of and we all were able to focus on catching up. I was able to meet the chef and kitchen staff. Their setup was perfect. Everyone got excited once the food started coming out. We ordered a little of everything. Buffalo wings, meatballs, arugula salad, Brussels.... Then pizza OMG. Margarita, pepperoni, mushroom, farmer's veggie and one other pie. One of my favorite crusts in Los Angeles. I love LOVE their mushroom pie. They have a filtration machine designed to try and duplicate NY water. That's dedication. I enjoyed the wings, fresh bread, Brussels and of course that mushroom slice. Just the right amount of everything. It is an elevated slice, slightly smaller, more firm, a little less greasy than a traditional NY greasy slice but still hits all the good highs of having a slice after the clubs. Great new restaurant by the beach! The outdoor seating is perfect for any type of group -- date nights, too! We were kindly greeted by Will and staff upon entry. We ordered slices of the veggie pizza and the Hawaiian BBQ pizza -- both were delicious!! I thought it was the perfect amount of cheese to crust and toppings ratio. The food came out fast, too! I used to love this place. I was easily their most consistent regular. I brought friends and family constantly, introduced countless people to the bar, and many of those people became regulars themselves. There were times I was the only customer in the place for hours. I always spoke highly of Washington Square--not just for the pizza, but for the staff and the atmosphere. I regularly ordered drinks and food for myself and others, tipped well (often more than my bill), and genuinely cared about this business. I even offered suggestions on how to bring in more customers beyond the ones I personally brought, and volunteered to help with small tasks when staff seemed overwhelmed--without expecting anything in return. On two separate occasions, I calmly handled situations where aggressive individuals came in making a scene. Instead of escalating things or involving police, I bought them food and escorted them out peacefully. I was there to support the place during slow business hours, not just to take from it. About two months ago, the energy shifted. Two staff members who previously welcomed me and regularly engaged with me suddenly became cold and dismissive for no clear reason. I couldn't understand why. I still greeted them kindly, complimented them, cracked jokes to lighten the mood, and tried to be respectful--but nothing changed. Eventually, I stopped coming in during their shifts because the vibe felt uncomfortable. One afternoon, I was there with five friends--people I had met at this bar. Everything was positive. The staff working at that time had no issue with me, and everyone was laughing and enjoying themselves. Then two afternoon-shift staff members arrived, both immediately bringing negative energy. One of them had previously made multiple comments to me about whether I was "going to tip her good," despite the fact that I always tip well and have tipped more than my bill many times. At the time, I brushed it off, but in hindsight, those comments were unnecessary and inappropriate. I still tried to say hello and compliment both of them. I was completely ignored. At some point, I casually commented to the person next to me that they "used to like me." That comment triggered an explosive and public verbal attack directed at me. I have never been spoken to like that in my life. There were five customers who witnessed this happen, all of whom were shocked by how sudden, aggressive, and unprofessional it was--especially considering I had done nothing to provoke it. I repeatedly apologized purely to de-escalate the situation, even though I did not believe I had done anything wrong. As I was already preparing to leave, the other staff member was instructed to step in and tell me to leave--rudely--as if I wasn't already doing so. I have never been kicked out of an establishment before. Two of the customers who had just met me actually left with me because they felt so uncomfortable and bad about how I was treated. We went across the street to grab food and talk about what had just happened, along with another friend who had witnessed the entire situation. Less than ten minutes after arriving on shift, the staff member who had berated me came across the street to where I was sitting. I stood up calmly and asked, "Can we talk about it?" Her response was, "Fuck you, get away from me or I'm calling the cops." I immediately sat down, disengaged completely, and left shortly afterward. Later that evening, I was told that a guy I had just met--whose name I don't even know--went back to Washington Square and had words with her about how poorly I had been treated. I had no involvement in that interaction. Despite this, I am now banned from the establishment for someone else's actions. That makes no sense. What hurts most is that I know when I'm wrong, and I take accountability seriously. If I had done something inappropriate, I would own it and apologize sincerely. This felt like an attack on my character when I had done nothing but support this business. If roles were reversed and I treated a customer--especially a loyal, respectful regular--the way I was treated here, I would expect to be fired immediately. Instead, it appears that because two staff members live together, there may be internal bias or coordination influencing how this was handled. I know that the majority of the staff and regulars would vouch for my character. I've also heard similar complaints from other customers about these same two individuals. Way to start off Black History Month by banning your most loyal Black customer. To everyone else at Washington Square--I still appreciate you, and you know exactly who this review is about read more

I guess he must have read my review too quickly, since his remark indicates that he didn't know that the comment about 'Brazil' was referring to one of his competitors. Perhaps I expect too much from anyone connected to an establishment thoroughly reading comments, but why bother if you're not going to take it seriously and just throw out some generic remarks on how you strive to make your place the best, but say something like 'not knowing what you're on about with Brazil' or some such, might indicate an intolerance for reviews in general. I was in the mood for a slice decided to stop in. The location is great, close to the beach with a good vibe. The restaurant is very clean and new, I sat at the bar and ordered a couple slices. The staff are all in with this restaurant, they have a good understanding of the menu and the chefs expectations. There are two requirements for great pizza, one is the crust and two the sauce. Both were amazing!! Honestly I haven't had pizza crust like this for years, I've traveled to NYC many times and it is very very similar. The sauce was perfect, great flavor not sweet or not too salty just perfect combined with delicious cheese and toppings. She got my order wrong and when confronted, acted like it was my fault.
