    Salmon

It's been awhile since my last review, so figured it s time to update it. We have been here often over the last eight years - usually for lunch but an occasional dinner or drinks and apps on the patio with friends. Our most recent visit was dinner to celebrate our 47th wedding anniversary. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It still maintains it's casual atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The entrance has shifted to the Ridge Street side of the building. A good decision. It always felt a bit cramped to check in in the bar area especially when they are busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dining area is now mostly in the back room.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While the setting is casual, the food is upscale - including the burgers. They offer game meats, elk, kangaroo, venison, and wild boar, in addition to high end beef and a small selection of seafood. They also have a few vegetarian/vegan options. I had the Citrus Glazed Salmon with root vegetables and squash. It was very good. The salmon was fresh and and flaky and perfectly cooked. My husband had the Rock Candy Short Rib. He deemed it "acceptable" Mine was paired with a light dry Savengon Blanc. Service was good and our satisfaction was checked. I debated between a 4 or 5 star experience - I decided on 5 mostly due to the quality of the meal. Return visit? Yes.

Amazing food. Was there at 3:00pm. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restaurant was empty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Such great options. Of course the service was great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love the space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We stopped by for lunch and tried their scotch egg. It was delicious and seasoned to perfection. It's in the top of our best list! We split the Philly cheesesteak and had an artisan salad as a side. Both were so good! The sandwich had tons of flavor and the salad was refreshing! Definitely worth stopping in.

I'm not really quite sure why this place is popular or why others have told me to try it. The food/ingredients themselves were of good quality but the concepts of both our dishes left a lot to the imagination. If you are going to make a meatball sub maybe do something to elevate it... I have had better from Capriottis... and this open faced Ruben... not sure why... just give us the other piece of bread. The drink smelled lovely and my husband enjoyed it it. Would probably not return... the dishes on the dinner and lunch menu are not only overpriced but not really interesting enough for me to want to spend my money. The server was lovely!

Just absolutely awesome I can't even begin to describe how delicious everything is here I took several pictures to best describe what your eyes will agree is just a fantastic array of dishes And I'm not talking about the kiware radish stems they grace a few dishes with. Beef, chicken or fish! All wonderful. I'm going back! I think there's another in California! I will find that one and visit if there is!

Food was absolutely amazing! I could've ate 5 or 6 of the scotch eggs! Wife had the Rock Candy Short Ribs absolutely amazing! Service was amazing and immediate! Best little restaurant in town!

Washoe Public House is still on our list of Reno favorites and often where we go for our Friday lunch dates. I love the food and drinks here and everything is consistently good. I still find the atmosphere to be so dang disappointing and stand behind the significant disconnect between the menu and the ambience. Clearly it's not stopping me from going to WPH, but I'm also so disappointed knowing my overall experience here could be so much more.

Kangaroo steak sandwich with Mac n cheese

Service was friendly and fast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior was relatively clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered a burger and kangaroo cheesesteak. The burger was rare and so it went uneaten, the cheesesteak was ok. The fries were fine. The macaroni and cheese was good. I do not think we'll return.

The food was very flavorful and ample portions were provided. The salad was excellent. The airplane chicken (someone had to explain the name for me) was tender and tasty. The dessert was a delicious chocolate mousse with cake bottom.yum!

We went a couple weeks ago for lunch- they have this amazing spiced chicken veggie bowl with this delectable glaze that made my heart sing. We went back for dinner a few days later and was so bummed it's only a lunch item...offer it a dinner!!! I've told like five people about the bowl who have went a lunch and concur it is legit! Put it in the dinner menu you guys!!!

Without a doubt one of the top 2 restaurants in Reno. Creative menu, but done right, not to just have cool stuff on the menu. Great service too. Every time I come to Reno I am eating here without failure. The wild boar schnitzel was amazing. The kangaroo philly cheesesteak was phenomenal and don't get me started on the donut! Keep it up guys!!!

Here's something you don't see everyday. A Kangaroo Philly cheesesteak. This is a very good take on a classic sandwich. If you haven't tried it, you should. Staff was very nice as well. Next I'm going to try the warm beet salad!

Ask the Community - Washoe Public House

    Is the restaurant Kid friendly?

We were there for lunch, and it was absolutely kid-friendly! I don't know about evenings, but for sure lunchtime was great for families.

Does this restaurant has private room?

It does. You just have to let them know you want to use it. Last time we used it, it didn't require an additional fee but you may want to ask since they're under new ownership.

    Is this place dog friendly?

No! Not a single person outside either and they told us they didn't allow dogs, even though their website says they do.

How many people can sit at one table?

Right now Nevada has restrictions on the number of people per table at a restaurant. Currently, only 4 are allowed per table. Please be kind of you have more than 4 in your party and end up being split up.

My rant..I'm not from the area so I had NO idea what this place was when I walked by. It looked cute so my husband, myself and child walked up the steps and they sat outside while I went to check it out and see if this was a bar/club/ restaurant. I walked inside and instantly got the death glare from an employee. I instantly said omg I take it this place isn't kid friendly.. he rudely said no. I wanted to clarify and confirm even outside ? He said no. I apologized and they left but the vibe and way he said it was definitely off putting. My sister and I decided to stay for a drink while my husband/child went to walk around. Usually I don't give bad costumer service a chance.. but I realllllllly wanted a drink that one of those others customers were drinking. If this place had better costumer service. It would be a 5

A fun and unique way to sort cocktails. They also have a selection of beer on draft and wine. The drinks can also be made into mocktails- a win for our group since we had a few non-drinkers. The 1859 mocktail was great. Perfectly sweet with a small hit of miso flavor from the miso honey. Probably even better and more balanced with the whiskey! Others in my group enjoyed working their way through the many light, dark, and sour beers on tap. 1864 offers a classic, relaxed atmosphere and a great place to get a cocktail.
