I sent my husband in there with my wedding ring and a 2 carat loose pear diamond (with paperwork) to have the stone in the ring removed and the new diamond set into the ring. The jeweler wouldn't even LOOK at my ring. Then they tried to charge him 75 just to look at it. I got a text today saying the fee is only 45. My family has been doing business with this company for 30+ years. I won't be doing business here . I ended up taking it to Kleins Jewelry on woodway where we were met with kind, helpful jewelers who seem to love what they do. A much different atmosphere . read more

Wonderful alternative to the Little Watch Shop, and a little less pricey. I found a beautiful Danish wristwatch in a $5 "grab bag" at the Salvation Army and was willing to take a chance with it. Mr Palomo (Paulin) did a fantastic job and was very reasonable. He has since repaired/restored two other wristwatches and 3 pocket watches - including my grandfather's 130 yr old "everyday" pocket watch (which was in dire need of attention). He did an exceptionally good job on that one, and I didn't make it easy for him. I asked him to repair rather than replace everything he possibly could and to save anything that couldn't be salvaged. (I worshipped my grandfather, he carried this watch for 60+ years, and I'm not entirely rational about it). Mr Palomo did that, and when he gave me the few parts that had to be replaced, he explained what they were and why they had to be replaced. (I know nothing about watches but I love being treated like I'm not stupid.) He always gives an estimate in advance, and only one time has he called to say he was off (and it was only an 8% difference). He also gives a one-year warranty on his work. I've never needed it, but I appreciate it. Mr Palomo also does the everyday stuff - replacing batteries, cleaning - and he repairs clocks too! And he's a kind, soft-spoken man, which makes it much less painful when you're spending more money to repair your grandfather's pocket watch than it would be worth even in pristine condition. (Again, all my fault, and I knew going in it wouldn't be cheap as he was very accurate - and fair - with his estimate.) read more

This time I had a damaged wedding band that we had to cut off because of an insect sting that caused an allergic reaction. I dropped off a Tudor watch to get an estimate for a specific repair. I came the next day to get an update on an estimate and without my consent, they performed the repairs. Just don't!!!! Went in for a simple repair - actually not even that! Just needed my watch back snapped back on. Before I had the watch out of my purse, the gentleman started commenting on cheap watches. Obviously assuming I had a cheap watch?!?! Perhaps my t-shirt and shorts didn't convey I might actually own a quality timepiece which was a serious mistake. Not only do I have many watches but I would've been happy to become a repeat customer had he not started there & worse, kept talking! He insisted it required his "specialty repair equipment" & popping the back onto my watch was a $25 job. I've seen it done and it's not difficult nor did it require special equipment. He was a specialist - in stereotyping and exhibiting a very shortsighted, arrogant attitude towards a potentially faithful new customer! Short version: I did not come here for watch repair only jewelry inspection/repair. My rating is based on the confusion of the front desk/ poor communication. The earrings looked like they were cleaned. I can't tell if they did anything else. Long version: I came to this location because it was very close to my house, maybe 5 minutes or so. I had two diamond stud earrings that I needed to be looked at because I felt like they were snagging on my pillows when I slept. I dropped them off on Friday May 7th and the lady that took down my info said about a week to get them back. She also said they would call first for an estimate. The following Friday, the 14th, I called to ask if they were ready or not. The lady on the phone (a different lady from who took my earrings) was nice but said it was something more like 7-10 days not 7 days... fine I can wait a few more days and says it will be $25 and to wait for them to call me. Ok no problemo .. I wait and they call me Monday, May 17. I go today (the 19th) to pick them up and instead of $25, it's $35 plus tax. I mentioned that the lady on the phone said $25 and the lady who is ringing me up says... "nope paper says $35" and tax. Ok.... I'm fine with paying that however I'm slightly annoyed by all of the confusion and I know the lady on the phone said $25 because I googled to see if that was the going rate of inspection/cleaning. I then asked what exactly was done to the earrings and the lady ringing me up says she doesn't know because no notes were added. I asked if they prongs were tightened or was there anything done besides steam cleaning and she had to ask another lady. I don't know that I would come back based on the absolute confusion and how long it takes. Positives is that they honored their yelp check in offer for free cleaner! read more

You know the saying, I feel naked without my ________. This is true with me and my watch. Last summer while swimming, my expensive watch took in water. Freaking out, I stopped wearing the watch and switched to my old watch. Well, that lasted until the battery in my backup died. Now, I am watchless and late to everything. I took both watches to Paulin, as a walk in. The clerk was very nice and said that she would give the watches to Paulin and have him call me with an estimate to get my watch waterproof again. I received a call the next day and was told that my watch was fixable and he was willing to fix it for a reasonable price. I gave Paulin the go ahead to fix the waterproofing and replace the battery in my backup. About a week later, I picked up my watches. The watches were cleaned and looking like new. My precious watch is now waterproof and gorgeous! And best of all, I know what time it is again!! read more

I needed a new battery for my watch and I picked this place due to a couple of reasons: (1) The average rating on Yelp (albeit only 11 reviews at the time) (2) Proximity and Convenience I'm the type of guy who likes to know how much he'll be paying before committing to anything. For this particular instance, I didn't want to have to come in and found out that the cost to replace a battery would be higher than what I was willing to pay. As such, I called in before I came in. When I called and asked about the cost, I was told that it would start at $15; depending on the type of watch you have. The lady on the phone gave me a quote and although I thought it was pretty high, I deemed it acceptable. During lunch time, I came here and I was helped by a gentleman. I told him I needed a new watch and he gave me a different price!! But wait, the price he gave me was LOWER than the price I was quoted so that was a good thing. He told me to come back within 30-45 minutes so I left to get some food. By the time I came back, my watch was already waiting for me. I paid and I left happy. The only reason why I didn't give them a perfect score is because of the inconsistency in pricing. Yes, I got lucky that the price I paid was lower than quoted. But had it been the other way around? What if the gentleman had answered the phone and the lady had helped me in the store? Then he would have quoted a lower price on the phone and the lady would have told me that it would have cost more in the store. That's a no-no. Anyway, I'll probably back here in a few years (hopefully) when the battery in my watch dies again. read more

Like a month ago I asked for recommendation on my Facebook for a trustworthy jewelry place to take my great grandma's ring to get resized and to replace a few stones that had fallen off the ring. They recommended me Watches by Paulin my work schedule is a little hectic, but one day I finally decided to go into work a little late and to go check out them out. Let me just say I was very hesitant to leave my great grandma's ring because she recently passed away and I hadn't taken the ring off since my aunty gave it to me, but the young lady in the front she was very friendly and assured me my ring was safe and that she would contact me as soon as it was ready. The price was very reasonable for resizing the ring, and replacing 2 stones. She was even okay with texting me instead of calling me because I explained my work hours were a bit crazy which made me feel super appreciate as a customer. She messaged me saying my ring was ready, but she felt it could be better and if it was okay with me to give them a few more days I said yes of course. When I finally picked up my great grandma's ring I wasn't disappointed at all it looked amazing just like when it was given to my great grandma by her kids. It looked brand new and shinny. Give them your business and promote small businesses in America! Long version: I'd been putting off getting my watch repaired because I could never fit it into my schedule. However, since I had some time off over the holidays, I was able to get to WBP and have them replace that battery. The front desk personnel were courteous, professional and efficient. They even called me the next day to tell me that my watch was ready for pickup. I also like the fact that they are active in the GOOF area (that's Garden Oaks - Oak Forest, for those of you in Rio Linda), and that they sponsor many local events and functions. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by Jasmine who was working the front. She was polite, professional and courteous. I told her I needed a new battery and she informed that it wouldn't be a problem. I dropped my watch off since I was already running late, go figure. When I picked my watch up not only did they get me a new battery but they polished up the case making my watch shine like a new again. Hard to find businesses like this. High quality craftsmanship. I had him fix my wife's broken ring and it was done to perfection. Can't event tell where the Platinum was broken. I also had a couple of watches that I never used and wanted to remove the batteries so they didn't leak into the watch. Did it for free and then put the batteries in a nice little container so I could tell the type if I ever wanted to replace. Didn't charge me a dime for this. Support your local businesses like this. You don't know what they mean to all of us until they are gone - gone because we all buy from Amazon, Walmart, et al. I was left my father's watches after he passed away. They were quick and friendly when they resized the wristbands for me and replaced a couple of batteries three years ago. More recently the Seiko Kinetic and a Citizen Solar Tech weren't recharging. It took a little over a week to replace the capacitors and now they both work great. I switch between the two and don't have to adjust either if I go a few days without wearing them. It looks like a nice little family owned place. But when I picked it up there were scratches on metal coating around the face, and another deep scratch on the corner on the back. Last Tuesday I had the worst day ever....my watch fell face down hard on concrete! And it pretty much shattered the crystal and a little piece fell off from the inside as well. So my watch was pretty much on its last leg :( Paulin told me my watch was pretty beaten up but he would try and fix it... I got my watch yesterday and I have to say he did an amazing job. My watch looks brand new! He told me that the crystal was a little different than the original but to me it looks the same. He glued the little piece that fell off back to its place as well. Earlier this year I brought in for repair a pair of antique German earrings that had cracked stone in the frame. I wished to have the stone replaced because I was afraid of losing the stone completely as the stone was only framed and didn't have a solid back to which it was adhered. So the pair was sent off to see about having the stone replaced. It was not a quick fix and I believe the wait was probably due to getting the best match for the stone. But I finally got the pair back and I could not be happier. They are so fabulous. I brought in a necklace that needed a new soldered chain and my boyfriend's watch (needed a new battery) on a Friday, and it was ready by the following Tuesday. A week later, my chain broke. I took Paulin my dads TAG watch to be polished, after they tested it they received a not so good reading that the watch was either losing/gaining time, the watch was a pretty old watch that hadn't been worn in awhile but my dad had noticed the issue before & we were very appreciative that they wanted the watch to work properly before polishing it in case something went wrong with it in the future. The watch had many scratches all around & since it had been many years since its last maintenance, we gave Paulin permission to do what was needed. When we received the watch, it looked BRAND NEW!!! My dad automatically put it on & hasn't taken it off! He was very pleased & will be taking his other watches to Paulin. I wish I had the same experience as the other people. I took different pieces of jewelry here even though he was somewhat pricey. I dropped off a ring to have the prongs checked because they were catching on clothes - I was afraid I was going to lose a diamond. After paying $60, I walked out of the store and they still felt rough. I walked back and verified that they were ok. He assured me they were. Within a year, I lost a diamond. I took the ring back in, reminded him what happened, and was given an estimate of $120 because 'you never know what's going to happen after you walk out the door'. Really ?? i took a rare collectable watch to paulin for service, during cleaning they ruined the bezel , when i came to pick up the watch i was shocked at what i saw, i said what happened? paulin said what, you brought it to me in this condition, i was furious, i collect rare watches and told mr. paulin i wouldn't own a watch in this condition, i then showed him a picture from my phone with the watch on my wrist in the condition i brought the watch in, he only then agreed they had damaged the watch, i told him the watch was rare and he would not be able to find a new bezel or used bezel to repair the damaged one, he insisted i let him try, i game him 3 months then called him back and he stated he was unable to locate one (which i already knew it was impossible to find), so i told him he needed to pay for the watch since the collectable watches are valued on condition, and now the condition is ruined as is the collect ability, he stated he would only pay for the damaged bezel, you can't put a price on the bezel since you cant replace the bezel, so now i am left to legal action to recoup my loss, i would advise against using paulin because of this incident. read more
