Probably my favourite place to get lobster on PEI. They have a salad bar that is all you can eat (extra charge), but it's worth it as they have mussels and other goodies. Also their rolls and strawberry shortcake are fantastic! The only downside is the ambiance. It's super loud and generally a lot of kids. If you are looking to avoid that, go for lunch! read more

I have been going here for years and I grew up in Sherwood PEI. Tonight I had the worst lobster I have ever had in my life. I explained to the server it was horrible and they apologized and offered another one, but I explained I was full and could not do it. She was kind and apologetic but said it's not your fault. The lobster was soo cooked there was very little meat in the claws and what was there was stuck to the side of the shell and had to be somewhat scraped from the shell which really was not enough meat to make it worth it. I complained Ed in the way out and one of the managers said if it was over cooked they all would have been. I have been eating and cooking lobster since I was in my teens. He looked at me and said so what do you want me to do. Lots of people try this to get a meal. I said obviously you are not going to do anything and I left saying we would not be back. As a Veteran, I will pass this on to other Veterans and let them know they are probably better off to go to New Glasgow lobster suppers. read more

So I am biased but we had a great time here. Not much to look at inside or outside but the prices were decent. We couldn't go help ourselves with the salad bar during COVID but we could check off boxes of the food we wanted to try and they would bring it to us. Seafood was fresh. Salad bar was decent but not anything special. What made it special was the service. Our server went beyond what he needed to, to make sure that we were comfortable. He was friendly, likeable, fast, and kind. We actually had to hunt him to give him a generous tip because you need to pay upfront at the till for everything. And there wasn't a tip option when we paid. But he did his service above and beyond most of the people we know that serve expecting a tip. What was the was the best was another server. We have a daughter with dual diagnosis. She has Down syndrome and autism. And she doesn't enjoy eating. We got there late, and she wasn't interested in eating so she sat in the middle of the floor. It was a big restaurant with only a few people eating so we left her there. And ALL the staff instead of rolling their eyes as they walked by either waved or said hi. And then there was this lady. Who if anyone reading this knows who she is, please message me. I would like to thank properly. After she was done with her table, she put down her tray and sat and said hi to our girl and copied her movements (she rocks for comfort) and our daughter who doesn't particularly likes to be touched ended up snuggling in for a cuddle. I couldn't pay enough for this experience. And when I was wiping away tears and thanking her she kindly shrugged and said it was nothing. It was everything. Went here for the experience. Wish we had skipped it. There was a very large salad bar. With many different salads. I did like the two kinds of potato salad, otherwise everything else was pretty bland. We did eat a couple of buckets of mussels which were also on the buffet. It was fun having all you can eat muscles but they we're not cooked in much. The second bucket was definitely better because they had just refilled the container on the buffet. The first bucket were overcooked and dried out and had been sitting there a while. My mother had the 1 lb lobster which tasted fine. My dad had the fried haddock, which was lightly breaded and very crispy. However it has light fishy taste and the breading had no flavor. We asked for lemons when our main meal was brought out what our server forgot them. And by the time he checked on them we were almost done eating. I had the fried scallops. They were very tender and lightly breaded and crispy. But the breading had no flavor, so you need to use the tartar sauce that came with it to make it more tasty. The desserts were pretty good. Their infamous 60 feet-long salad bar & AYCE local mussels draws in plenty of locals & buses of tourists alike. //THE ATMOSPHERE// We arrived on a Tuesday night ~6pm and the parking lot (although sufficiently big) was already very full. Once we parked & got to the front entrance, we entered at the RIGHT-sided doors to get to the buffet & not the a la carte part of the restaurant. Then we lined up for ~20minutes to pay for our entree meal (which automatically includes access to the salad bar & mussels buffet). You can also just pay $23 for only the AYCE buffet with no entree. All alcoholic drinks are extra. Once we got seated, we handed our VERY friendly & sweet waiter our receipt with our respective entree meal. From then onwards, you can order the complimentary clam chowder & bread for the waiter to bring to the table. Otherwise, we bee-lined straight to the AYCE mussels & salad bar. TIP#1: don't go crazy at the buffet, save some room for your entree meal! TIP#2: use the plastic buckets to easily pile the mussels to bring back to your table. TIP#3: wear the plastic bib because things will get messy! //THE FOOD// The salad bar had an amazing selection...from simple green salads, different potato salads, to Mediterranean-style. At the end of the salad bar, there was bread pudding with a brown butter sauce, the freshly steamed MUSSELS, fountain soda, and tons of dessert! There was a soft serve machine and all types of pies. They also have a daily kitchen dessert (for us it was Strawberry shortcake) that the waiter offered to bring to our table. The Entrees: LOBSTER 1.5LBS (~$48) - you can get it served cold (what the islander locals prefer) or hot. We had ours hot & the lobster was cooked right! Although it was expensive...we were on vacation & wanted to try a 'lobster supper' haha. Definitely have it with melted butter, use the plastic pick to get the claw meat out, & follow the table top paper instructions on how to breakdown a lobster! FRIED SHRIMP (~$36) - the shrimp were giant and cooked/fried pretty well. It also came with a large side of potatoes (you can choose mashed, baked, or fries). The Buffet: Overall great selection. The highlights for me were the different potato salads & the mussels! It was steamed perfectly & had just a touch of seasoning to give it some flavour. I really enjoyed their blueberry pie with some soft serve ice cream too. I wished I saved more room to try more dessert pies! I would skip out on the chowder as it was very starchy & bland. We went there after viewing videos online about the place. So we decided to try it out. We went in the middle of the afternoon, so the place was empty. We also stop at the boutique afterwards. The good: Food was actually good and fresh. Salads were very good. Waitress was a sweetheart and truly great. The younger staff that came in at 4pm to prepare for the evening were also good, kept passing to clean the table. Chicken was very good. Buckets on table for good residues. The bad: Menu at entrance can be confusing. It is expensive, so you have to eat a lot from the salad bar to " match up the price ". Deserts in the little " pick up " fridge is not very modern. Chairs uncomfortable. In the end, this is a good place to go to if you have the money. But l can see hod it can get very busy around supper time. read more

I had a wonderful time here. I was on a tour with Royal Caribbean and our guide brought us here for lunch- it was lobster rolls for most people (my husband loved his- and the potato salad was brilliant) and for people with allergies to lobster they had veggie rolls or chicken rolls- and even gluten free! I have a really awful allergy to corn (which is in everything- even baking powder and powdered sugar) so sometimes I can't eat at all on tours- but these lovely, lovely people made me a salad without dressing and plain lobster! It was so good. Really a super treat, and I'm so grateful to them. I CAN go all day without food and I have, but of course it's nice not to. I also loved the boutique and bought myself the cutest floppy sunhat with a lobster on it- so I'll always remember my time on PEI. (Which I loved- recommend the island to you as it's just a delight. We stopped in this place for lunch as a part of our excursion booked through Disney Cruise Line. We were on Prince Edward Island for the day. Apparently, the place is normally closed on the day that we were there (Tuesday, October 24, 2017), so it was just the excursions from the cruise that stopped in here for lunch. Since it was just the tour groups coming in, it was fairly easy getting in and out. Within a few minutes of being seated, the servers came out with the lobster rolls (pictures included). The lobster roll was good, but I thought there would have been more than just that for a lunch. Since it was through the excursion, I'm not sure how much of it went to them on a per person basis. Water was at all of the seats in the place where we were reserved. However, there were a few occasions that I needed to get a refill of water and I had to flag down one of the servers over by the server area, as they were primarily just chatting away over there. There were a few communal desserts to choose from at the table, but that was it. Overall, the lobster roll was good, but I thought there would have been more food available there. There was no buffet or salad bar option for the groups that came in that day. This place also has a pretty good sized gift shop right at the entrance to the place. There are plenty of touristy type items to be found there. I didn't get anything there as the shop was pretty busy with multiple buses here at the time. I ended up going outside for a while to enjoy the weather, as it was sunny with temperatures in the low 70s. Overall, this place was okay. I think it would have been better had more been available than just the lobster roll sandwich and potato salad. Myself, along with a few others, just felt we were being rushed in and out of the place. I don't like having that kind of experience. Would I try the place again if I'm up that way again? Maybe. Our tour group of 48 had dinner here last week. Other than a few private diners, we were the only ones here. They've got a huge salad bar and AYCE mussels were great. Fresh salad ingredients, and the mussels were constantly being replenished up at the salad bar. We ate to our hearts content. The main attraction was the 1 - 1 1/4 lb. lobster. Came to the table pre-cracked which we appreciated. Although your paper placemat has drawings of how to crack a lobster. I've been to Maine & Massachusetts so I can handle a lobster, but you never know. Desserts are plentiful with a soft ice cream machine, and coffee and refillable sodas. Supposedly their strawberry shortcake dessert is a hit, so we asked to have it. Must be just a rumor. The strawberries were too sweet and the shortcake was very hard. Knock, knock. Servers were very busy clearing the mussel shells and the used salad plates. After dinner, you can mosey into the gift shop. Just like at an amusement park, the gift shop is on your way out. read more

This place was recommended to me to go to from many people. It has the longest salad bar on the whole island of Prince Edward Island. It is 60 feet long. When your there you have the option to get a main entree and then have the salad bar with it and the main entrees can be a whole lobster or half a lobster or lobster of different pounds and sizes for different prices. Or the other option is that you can just have the salad bar for 23 dollars which is what we did. There is no lobster in the salad bar, however, there are mussels so you can have unlimited mussels. I ate about four pounds of mussels and they don't have a sauce but they can come with butter for you to dip the into. read more

Save yourself the hassle and find a way to go to the New Glasgow Lobster supper. The only reason we came here is because New Glasgow was not open to the public yet, and it's become a habit to do a lobster supper when on the island. Big mistake. The chowder was disgraceful. The worst we have ever had - here or back home. This may sound harsh, but they honestly should be ashamed of what they served. It was mush and I could not tell if there was any seafood in it. Other reviewers have talked about their servers were great, and while we saw that for other customers, we did not get that ourselves. We got a trainee who was trying hard, but had not yet become comfortable chatting up a table. Her trainer was slightly better, but did not explain how things worked very well to the two others we were with who were experiencing a lobster supper for the first time. The salad bar they rave about was awful. Nothing says PEI like nacho chips and cold cheese sauce. The mussels were ok, but that's where the praise ends. The desserts were left out in some display case, portions small and tasting of nothing near homemade. The lobster itself was good, although the thimble of melted butter they provided smacked of cheapness. We really wanted to like this place but it was terrible. Well I'm gonna start off with the staff was very nice. Very clean and tidy salad bar area. However it ends there for us. Beyond disappointed but glad we got a discount with the currency rate because everything we tried we didn't like. It felt like industrial food. Not homemade. The Blue mussels were more like brown dried out morsels. I tried to revive them with melted butter but didn't work. The Greek tabbouleh was just parsley really. No flavor and that's among my favorites, but not here. I did like the hard boil eggs. The hot pop over rolls were cold. The butter to cold to even smear in my cold bun. I did then tossed the idea of the 60' salad bar and decided to try some desserts. To me, nothing seemed to be homemade. Maybe made and frozen ??? Even the chocolate chip cookies seemed fake. Hard as a rock. The coffee was good. The waiter asked if I would like to try the strawberry shortcake. It wasn't on the bar but they make it up in the kitchen. I said sure. Me and my partner came here if the new Glasgow lobster suppers because our host said it was the better choice. We each got a 1 pound lobster. We had mussels, seafood chowder and helped ourselves to the salad bar. The service was really great and the young man was happy and created a very welcoming environment! We both had a great time with our lobster, it was very festive with our bibs on. We both left stuffed and exhausted! Really great food and very cool experience! Lobster suppers were mentioned in our Lonely Planet book as a "must do" while in PEI and I'm really glad we did it. So the restaurant is massive. It seats like 400 people--imagine that. Now imagine the place being packed full people eating lobster everywhere! Awesome! The restaurant was easy to find (thanks to the GPS) and we got a table right away. You order your lobster supper ranging from 1-2 lbs.(or other entree) at the front and then have a seat. The server took a while to greet us but the place was packed. So she come back with piping hot seafood chowder and a basket of freshly baked bread---We are off to a great start. Its a 60ft. buffet which was packed full of everything from different types of potato salad, to noodles, to pies and pastries. The best part was the UNLIMITED Island mussels--they were very fresh and constantly being refilled---YUMMY!!! This is PEI--best mussels ever! You let the server know when your ready for your lobster so it's steamed freshly. The 1 lb. was very tender and tasty. The food on the buffet was actually really good. There was lots of variety and everything was really fresh, very tasty and creative. The quality of the food was great. I was really impressed! Bottom Line= This is a must do if you are on PEI. THIS was the meal I had been seeking on PEI. As soon as you walk in, you place your order for your seafood (or landlubber) entree, get seated, order drinks from your waitress, and then you are turned loose onto the 60' long salad, sides, and mussels bar. 60' - that's as long as my house. I guess they left it as 60 feet instead of 20 meters because 60 feet sounds more impressive? Anyhow, the first part is a very well stocked salad bar with all the right ingredients, then some specialty salads, some more landlubber stuff (like pizza bites, and make your own nachos). At the far end is the not-to-be-missed all-you-can-eat mussels bar and seafood chowder station. The chowder is taste but a bit scant in the seafood, but you're there for the mussels anyway. Plate after plate after plate - you can actually make a meal out of the mussels if you want to have just the salad bar and skip an entree - and no wonder you get multiple buckets on your table for shells. When you're ready, signal for your dinner. The lobsters come strategically pre-cut, so no lobster cracking devices are needed, just a long slender plastic prong-like thing which works well getting the meat out of the shell. Besides a served piece of strawberry shortcake, the salad bar extends beyond to a coffee station and 2 dessert stations, one for pies, and the other for things like cookies, tarts, creme items, etc. If you look beyond the "meat" of the place, i.e., the seafood and salad/mussels bar, you see chinks. The highly touted local beer is somewhat weak. The strawberry shortcake has frozen strawberries (which is understandable since they're out of season). Many of the desserts, even though the are supposedly made on site, feel industrialized (I'm not big on anything with "creme" in it). For entertainment, you can watch folks like myself try to get used to tray stands placed along every pair of tables - convenient for the waitresses, awkward for klutzes like me to dodge. But I felt vindicated when the teenager behind me got his backpack strap caught in the one at my table. We also had a fantastic waitress. I don't know if they encourage the waitresses to socialize, but just having lively chat with her made the evening that much more fun. read more

Don't let the fisherman's wharf name fool you. You won't find a cluster of little local food stalls selling the caught of the day. Instead it's a huge tourist eatery. The tourist part is the 60ft all-you-can-eat salad bar & seafood restaurant which opens for dinner at 4:00pm and is equipped to serve the huge bus load of tour groups. Since we arrived an hour before it opened and was hungry and pressed for time, we were offered to dine at the connecting restaurant called Pier 15. It's a traditional sit down restaurant with a much more relaxed elegant ambience. The clever part is if you had your heart set on the all-you-can-eat concept they offered a dinner special which featured the best of the all-you-can eat elements. So for $36/person you get the seafood chowder, dinner rolls, garden side salad, muscles, 1 lobster with 2 sides dinner plate, dessert and coffee or tea. My objective was to try their local mussels which I knew was famous because I've had it served at upscale restaurants back in Calif. and I can confirm that it was the highlight of my meal. My least favorite was the lobster. Primary because it was over cooked so I realize it was probably prepared ahead of time for the masses since the kitchen is shared with the All-you-can-eat counter part. The muscles however were not over cooked. Our server and host was on it when it came to customer service. They made sure our tea was always full, brought each entree out at our pace and super friendly. I appreciated this relaxing meal after an exciting nonstop day of exploration. read more

We stopped in mid afternoon looking forward to a lobster dinner. It was pretty empty because of the time. We chose the lobster dinner that included a buffet. The salad at the buffet was ok but only a bit better than what you find at a Golden Corral or other chain buffet restaurant. The mussels were at the buffet and when you scooped them up you got mostly empty shells. The few mussels that were there were dry and rubbery. When our server took our order she asked if we wanted the lobster hot or cold. We thought that was a strange question because where we are from a whole lobster as part of a "dinner" is always freshly cooked and hot. I later read that in PEI the traditional way to serve a lobster is cold. Well when we got ours it was clear that it had simply been reheated. It arrived already cracked in the claws and tail and we had to ask for a cracker to finish the job. No picks were provided but the meat was so dried out it wasn't worth trying anyway. We did not even need to use the bib. The deserts were not very good either. It was expensive even for a good meal but it was nearly inedible. We stopped for a lobster in Maine on the way home and had a wonderful complete meal with fresh lobster and mussels at a much cheaper price. I hope that tourists eating here don't actually think this is what lobster should taste like. read more

The Seafood Chowder from the Salad Bar was the only item that I enjoyed. Ordered the Fish and Chips. The fish was very dry, like it was sitting under a heat lamp for quite a while. We've been coming to PEI from Jacksonville, Florida since 1994. The first time we came here we stumbled upon Fisherman's Wharf Lobster Supper and loved it. Now, we're currently here again on our 9th visit to PEI and we always make a beeline for Fisherman's Wharf so we're sure to not miss it. We've loved that restaurant all this time and still love it. One word about a traditional lobster dinner in PEI. Fun. Went as part of a large group and the restaurant was a little overwhelmed but despite that we had a good time. Food was typical of a lobster supper. The bread and mussels were both tasty and would have been enough for me. Salad bar had a lot of choice. Nothing special but most people are there for the lobster and the salad bar is filler. Only reason I didn't give the restaurant four stars was the lobster was cold and the noise level became unbearable by the end of the meal. I left 10lbs heavier that day...my stomach didn't know what was coming. I had the lobster...but the most memorable experience there was the PEI mussels...UNLIMITED PEI MUSSELS! The bf, his dad and I ate like 8 buckets. The service was really nice, even though we had a crazy amount of food, they didn't judge us. At least not in front of us. Did I mention the salad bar was huge!? The place is also very big...it even had a gift store in it. Very touristy. :) It's right on the pier, so after eating your fill...you can walk it off! Tried the buffet side of the restaurant, since the 60-foot designation seemed to make it stand out more. They said the basic buffet was ~$20-ish, with a lobster add on for ~$10-ish, but it really feels like it should've been the other way around (lobster for ~$20-ish, buffet bar for ~$10-ish). The buffet bar was long... 60 feet long... (Wait, don't they use metric in Canada?) At the beginning of it you had lots of veggies and salad type items, and at the end of it you had lots of dessert items (pies, cakes, cookies, etc). But in the middle of it, there wasn't a lot of hot foods, so if you only had the buffet bar, it wouldn't really be a complete meal... Besides the unlimited mussels, there was a definite lack of proteins in the buffet bar. But, they had PEI potatoes, which were delicious. And also the seafood chowder, which can't be beat. (Make sure you ladle from the bottom of the pot to get more seafood bits instead of just chowder) The mussels were delicious, however, and you could feast on as many as you could hold while waiting for your lobster (or other entree add on). You get buckets at your table for all the shells. They were very attentive to the buffet bar and kept refilling all the items which were running low. Soda was also complimentary and you could refill for yourself at the soda machine. The desserts didn't seem to be very popular as some of them looked as if they had been sitting there for a while, with their whipped cream toppings sliding off the top of the slice. It was a very large dining area and they can seat a large number of diners. It also seems to be a tourist bus stop (after they visit the Anne of Green Gables house?) as there were buses parked nearby and tourists milling about the gift shop and bathroom areas. If you've ever been to an Asian buffet restaurant, you might be disappointed by the selection offered in their buffet. If you're primarily here for lobster and want a large variety of side dishes added on for ~$10 (see first paragraph), then this is the place for you! read more

Visited on a Monday, arrived around 5:30 for dinner. Mom & I each ordered 2 pound lobsters- they split the tail and crack the claws for all lobsters over 2 pounds. I heard if you ask nice, they'll split and crack 1-1/2 pounders. But get a 2 anyway since you can take any leftovers home. But I doubt it since the lobsters were cooked perfectly and were very tasty! The "salad bar" is good too and comes with the meal. If you like PEI mussels well you might get 2 plates of them because they're at the end of the bar!! This place gets three stars for the seafood. I had the crab legs and my boyfriend had the 2 pound lobster. Both were delicious. The service was very slow. The silverware and glasses were filthy, and the "60 foot salad" buffet was mediocre at best. Three choices of dressings, everything looked old. The gift shop in the front was nice. Very big. Tons of cute little things to look at. I would have given it less stars but the seafood was so delightful and fresh. I wish the buffet had been better. read more

Fisherman's Wharf is separated into two restaurants: a la carte and lobster supper buffet. You can still get the lobster supper buffet at the a la carte side of the restaurant but you won't have the luxury of feasting on the enormous salad bar that they have on the other side. Everything that I ordered was perfect! The seafood was fresh, the dessert were to die for, and the customer service is outstanding. I like that the owner/manager[?] is so friendly and that he'll come over to you to joke with you. Love love love them! No visit to the PEI is done right without a trip to Fisherman's Wharf. Located on the north end of the Island you can book-end your trip with your choice of touristy action - Green Gables, Cavendish Beach sunsets, they're all close by. So here's how it works: You select your main entree from the popular lobster to fish to steaks to chicken. Each meal, priced differently, comes with the famous 60-foot salad bar, mussels, chowder and bread - all unlimited. The salad bar features your traditional salads and ingredients along with oddities like hummus and pita triangles, tabouleh, garlic bread and pizza. All of it is done above what one would expect from a place like this, it's all tasty, replenished quickly and very satisfying. If you can manage room at the end you're offered a featured dessert or you can take as many trips as you want to the cold bar for pies, cakes, squares, tarts and soft serve ice cream. You will leave morbidly obese, but you will leave fulfilled and pleased, having experienced the bounty of PEI the Island way. Don't pass up the chance, it's great. read more

Seriously the best lobster I've ever had. Located in a large space, fisherman's warf didn't have the feel of a restaurant that you'd pay upwards of $40 for a 2lb lobster. We were seated quickly and stayed in the salad bar. The lobsters were ready before we'd finished. I've had lobster in fancy restaurants, Canoe in Toronto for example, but I'm now ruined. The lobster meat was soft like butter, the freshness came out in its taste. Delicious flaked buns too. Hardly touched the salad bar, will have to go back and try it next time. read more

Went with a bus group, so we were immediately seated, bypassing a long line at the door. Nice size buffet of salads, mussels, chowder, and dessert. Ordered the lobster (hot), which came out to me at luke warm and a tad dry. Getting service was like pulling teeth. Took forever to find our waiter to get water, shell crackers, and a few shell buckets. I think we might have seen him at the most of three times. read more

Fisherman's Wharf Lobster Suppers - Nom, Nom... Goes my mom. - Seafood Near Me - North Rustico, Prince Edward Island

My visit to Prince Edward Island last August was the first time I'd ever eaten at Fisherman's Wharf. I'd been aware of the restaurant's reputation growing up on the Island, true, but I'd never gotten there. Visiting the restaurant with my parents seemed like an appropriate thing to do on my vacation and potentially quite enjoyable. It was. Walking past the gift shop at the front of the restaurant, we entered the large main body of the restaurant. For $21.99 plus tax, the all-you-can-eat 60-foot salad bar found to the left on entering is, well, all-you-can-eat. For about ten extra dollars, you can also get a lobster. (I opted for that option.) There is an abundance of seats in the large seating area, and at high season plenty of tourists here. Doubtless many package tours end up here. The actual food was good. There's quite a few options available for all kinds of eaters, even exclusive of the lobster extras: salads, seafood, non-seafood, everything was there. The lobster was good, prepared for eaters as Bill Z. notes in his review. Service was prompt and enjoyable. The only caveat I'd raise is that, using the all-you-can-eat option, it's very easy to gorge yourself. We three all ate so many that, for comfort's sake, we really had no option but to take a leisurely walk down the boardwalk running between Harbourview Drive on the western shore of North Rustico Harbour, all the way to the white sand beach at the harbour's mouth in the warmth and light of a late summer evening.
