Went for dinner with my family on our vacation to Maine. Relaxed, semi-formal atmosphere and pretty view of the water, true to their namesake. We ordered phyllo-wrapped Brie and oysters for appetisers; the Brie was tasty (served with some sautéed apples and grapes) but the oysters were nothing to write home about. I ordered the chicken piccata for my entree and was extremely disappointed. The chicken was dry and bland. It tasted as if it had been pre-cooked, frozen and then nuked for my dinner. The rest of the pasta seasoning was uneven, and the linguine was a little undercooked. My mom ordered the lobster and said it was adequate- it was at least as good as the lobster she paid half the price for at Orchard Beach. Prices weren't terrible, but too high for the quality of food. Along with poor service, I'd award it two stars overall. read more

The place is very clean. The service is amazing. Christie was very helpful, polite and informative. The service was prompt we didn't have to ask for anything she was always there. The food was delicious. It was the best seafood I've had in my entire life. The price was also good. I'm from NY and never experienced such great service and food. This restaurant is known throughout Boston for its seafood, but they don't make it easy. The restaurant in the North End is a small with only a dozen tables. They don't take reservations so get there early or be prepared to wait outside with the crowd. Once in side it is cramped and noisy. You will get your water in a plastic cup. There is a very limited beer and wine menu. Menu is on the blackboard. This place is all about the fish, pasta and garlic. The fish is fresh, I had the front row seat for several lobster executions. Salad available and was good. The haddock was perfect. Monk fish got raves served with brown butter and wine sauce. Fresh clams were devoured as were the mussels with pasta in red sauce. Scallops were sautéed in garlic butter and served with pasta... gone. When you are done bring cash only. Do dessert at Bova or Mike's pastry. The food is always very well prepared and tasty. The service for the most part is good. One thing I don't like is that they have a chicken dinner on their menu and when you ask if you could have all breast meat the waitress always says no. I really don't understand this. How hard is it to buy extra white meat and have it on hand? Whenever I ask, the waitress unapologetically states that you can not just have white meat, its just the luck of the draw as they have to just give you whatever they have. This is the only restaurant that I've ever been to that says this. In addition, I was there a few weeks ago and my friend ordered the chicken dinner and was served all white meat! This doesn't seem very customer friendly. It's a shame because the dinner looks good. These days with so many health conscious people wanting less fatty meat one would think that a restaurant would at least have chicken breast as an option with their chicken dinner. Disappointed so could only give three stars. Hope they can add more white meat! read more

People with disabilities and service dogs NOT WELCOME. From the moment I checked in on our wait time, the older woman managing the hostess post was exceptionally rude. She took no less than 3 minutes to even acknowledge my presence, and even that was only after I politely said "excuse me...". When the polite younger woman showed us to our table, the older one made a point of stopping my boyfriend with his service dog and stating "the dog stays under the table, no water, no food". We had requested an outside seat, and I have never have a restaurant make a point of letting us know we were all unwelcome in such a manner. My boyfriend's service dog was curled quietly under the table when a man's head popped up from the ramp leading up the dock and startled him. He barked, and the woman was instantly by the side of our berating us and telling us she "would not have this" at the restaurant. I am healthcare worker at a NYC hospital and this was not the service I hoped for or expected during a vacation I have looked forward to for months. Needless to say we were eager to leave, made our way down the street to another restaurant, where they were kind, respectful and the food was delicious. read more

Hidden away along the harbor is The Waterfront, which came recommended to us by a store clerk along the main street in Camden. The restaurant has a nice nautical, clean decor , with spacious indoor and outdoor seating areas. The food is your standard seafood fare for the area; clam chowder, haddock, lobster, etc.. We ordered the haddock fish and chips and lobster stew. The stew was great, a large portion with great taste. The fish and chips were a bit generic; felt like I could have gotten this anywhere. The service was friendly but just ok, nothing really outstanding. I think the restaurant is a blue chip stock; it's a place where you know you'll get well cooked food from the area, but it's not going to blow you away. It's reliable, and sometimes that's all you need. I would go back if I'm in the area. read more

If you like sitting on the dock by a quaint harbor, or enjoy large, warm, post and beam dining rooms, this is the place. People generally dont go here for the food. Its passable, always been like that. Fred, at the bar, has been there forever and is as friendly a face as you will find in town. The raw bar on the deck is awesome. I went there with my friends during the drive from Portland to Acadia Park. The ambience was nice with amazing view of the harbour. You can always see some of the other boat passing you by. The artichoke and crab fondue was the best I've ever had. Fish and chips were good as well. The lobster stew was better than most places. Took a group of 6 adults to The Waterfront for my mother's 75th birthday. The service was disappointing. Our server standard answer was to tell us that something could not be done. The heaters could not be turned on. A patron could not substitute pasta for rice. The open flap to the harbor and rain could not be closed. I sought out the manager and at least we were able to get pasta substituted for rice. The chicken picatta was terrible, overloaded with lemon and no capers. When we advised our server, nothing was done about it. All in all, a disappointing experience. Because of their high traffic volume, they have no motivation to improve or change. Great location, solid menu, questionable service and below average food was our experience. Had it not been my mother's choice, we would have left shortly after being seated. Can't say I would give this place any stars considering my family never got to sit down and eat. Put my name in for a table which we anticipated a 25 minute wait, and we're told to grab a drink and hang about while we wait. Decided we would step 15 feet from the hostess to the bar for a time killer. Waited about 15 minutes without any acknowledgement from the bartender so I figured I would sit back down and save my money. Another half hour went by when we asked how much longer it would take, they said they actually took our name off the list...just disappointed with the overall experience there and hope they get their staff in order. read more

Had a wonderful experience at Waterfront. It was one of the few places open on a December Monday. We had lunch by a warm gas fireplace stove overlooking the snow covered harbor. The oysters were great, and my sandwich, the Suzette's sin, was amazing. The staff was friendly. I'd love to come again in the summer. read more

My wife and I went in for a cocktail mid afternoon and were taken aback by the rudeness of the hostess... I went out on the deck to look at the boats and she acted all pissed off when I came back in..... We found out later she was the assistant manager( tall blond woman ) When we ordered drinks from the bartender( we were at a table ) my wife heard him chew out the young waitress for not taking our order. All this for a mediocre Bloody Mary. We never had the food but why would you want angry people with pissy attitudes making/serving you food! This is my favorite restaurant in all of Camden. There is such a fun, lively environment here with a mix of locals and tourists. It's a seafood restaurant, but the vegetarian fare is AMAZING as well. I brought a friend who was visiting Camden to Waterfront and it met up to our expectations and beyond! We were able to sit on the patio deck area overlooking the harbor. My friend had the haddock sandwich and she said it was perfect. Fish was cooked perfectly and the taste of the toppings and texture of the bread was spot on for a delicious lunch sandwich. I enjoyed the Crab, bacon avocado melt sandwich and it was AH-MAZING! I've eaten many crab rolls and lobster rolls and have even made my own at home. I was a little nervous branching out from a traditional crab sandwich taste, but once I ate their version I knew I would crave it. Now anytime I think about going out to eat I wish I can go eat that sandwich each time. That's how amazing the flavors were together. We did have a longer than normal wait for our food after ordering, but since we were sitting out on the patio on a beautiful day with no plans we didn't mind the wait. The lobster linguini was not memorable and bordered on mushy. The cream sauce was tasteless and there was too much of it. The lobster chunks were adequate. One basket of bread was fresh and delicious. A second was stale. My companion's entree of muscles with pasta was similarly forgettable, but his lobster and orange salad was quite good. My garden salad with balsamic vinaigrette was nicely prepared too. Things went downhill fast when we got to dessert. We dared order three desserts. The strawberry rhubarb pie was served cold (not warmed as stated on menu). The pale pink filling was bland. The eye appealing crust was hard and disappointing. The profiterole with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup was a failure. The profiterole (a type of light puffy pastry) was overcooked brown as shoe leather and tasted like it too. It was too hard to dig into with a fork or spoon. Most of it was buried under whipped cream and chocolate sauce with vanilla ice cream stuffed inside, a really sorry thing to serve. A large portion of it was not covered in syrup, so it was easy to see how over-baked it was. I never saw a French pastry that looked like brown suede before. It never should have left the kitchen. The blueberry cobbler was decent, made with wild blueberry compote two inches high with another inch of light crumble on top. The crumble was too fine and uniform and lacked texture. This was also served with a mountain of whipped cream. This dish was bland and needed more sweetness. At least the desserts were only $6.00 each. I would have sent them back if the price were any higher. Also, our server was so nice, I didn't have the heart to complain. Coffee was average. We had a great table right by the water outdoors. Even with the nice atmosphere, I would not consider this a destination restaurant by any means. Go for the atmosphere but don't set your expectations high for the food. read more

We ate here for our anniversary dinner a few days ago and absolutely loved it!! The place was packed so we had to wait for the patio, but it was well worth it as we enjoyed the view of the harbor, boats and gorgeous sunset!! The scallops were perfectly cooked and the oatmeal crust and blue cheese combination was fantastic! My husband enjoyed his lobster as well and we loved their crab dip appetizer!! The prices and serving size are probably the best in Camden. The problem is the prices and serving size are the only good thing I can say about this place. In their defense, it was Memorial Day weekend and early in the season. I had the catch of the day and although cooking options weren't listed, my request for a non fried option was rewarded. The fish was fresh but overcooked and the 2 sides were so overcooked they were only tasted and abandoned. Not sure I'll do a revisit but it's a long summer and who knows. It's unfortunate I can't give this restaurant 0 stars. The only redeeming factor was that our server was pleasant enough. We ordered our children a fruit, cracker and cheese plate. The plate came with a cluster of half-rotten, unwashed red grapes, flavorless and haphazardly (i.e. carelessly) sliced honeydew and cantaloupe, some sysco crackers and factory-sliced cheese that I venture to say was reused from another plate. The cheese was dirty (yes, it had dirty finger prints on it) and soggy. My husband had the fried fish and chips, and the haddock was inedible. I've been to this restaurant a few times before. The food is consistently good however the menu has shrunk in recent years. There is only two chicken dishes and only one beef dish. The other 8 options are seafood. The service is average. The pricing is decent. 28$ for halibut and $18 for Chicken Marsala. The restaurant really excels in terms of view and atmosphere. The Waterfront has an outdoor patio that has a great view of the harbor. The atmosphere is good as well. Overall, The combination of the atmosphere, view and consistently good food make the Waterfront a restaurant worth eating at. read more

Our party had a horrible experience at the Waterfront. It was my sister's bachelorette weekend and we called two weeks in advance to make a reservation. They told us to call back the day of. Since we had a larger group, we called again the day before and they told us that we can call prior to arrival and put in our name. We called and put our name in and they said we could be seated in an hour and a half. We arrived early to make sure we were on time and when we got to the restaurant the staff was incredibly rude. They told us that they could only seat us inside after telling us that we would be seated outside. There were many tables outside that were vacant and the staff refused to seat us outside saying that they couldn't accommodate such a large party, even though we had previously agreed to split up into two smaller groups. While there should be no scenario where they can't seat a four and five top, the staff handled it in an incredibly poor and unprofessional way and bullied our group. Super disappointed because every other restaurant/bar has been super accommodating and kind. read more

Would love to come back in the summer when we can drink in the views. However, winter chill forced us indoors. This is a family favorite. The food is very good and the views of Camden harbor are amazing from the restaurant. The food prices are a little high, but that can be expected at almost any place in Camden.
