Great waterfront seating, beautiful view of the lake and boaters/swimmers. We were thirsty so asked for some ice water. The glasses and silverware were already on the tables, so the waiter brought a very large necked blue wine bottle full of water so we could serve ourselves - nice touch. We both ordered the Whitefish sandwich, it came with a large portion of very lightly breaded fish, crusted roll (maybe sourdough?), lettuce and tomato with tartar sauce on the side. I usually avoid the Tarter sauce unless the fish is not good - and it was very good. Sandwich came with potato chips. We also ordered their side waffle fries, extra crispy; which were good too. We split an awesome slice of German Chocolate cake w/ the most excellent coconut and nut frosting! The waiter was excellent, friendly and helpful. I wish I had read reviews before we went there. We were very excited to try The Waterfront. We looked at the menu online and made our choices. There were seven of us. The view is fantastic! Very pleasant atmosphere. And that's all I can say positive about our experience. Except our waiter. He was pleasant and attentive. And also apologetic. The menu online is NOT the menu presented. Completely different. The waiter said he keeps telling them to update their website. A few of us ordered beer. "I'm sorry, we don't have that. The machine is broken. We don't have that either." My husband and I ordered rum runners. He came back and asked us what kind of rum we wanted in them. We asked if they knew what a rum runner is and he said "we're learning". We got our two rum runners. They did not look alike, or taste alike, and were $16 each!!! Two of us ordered the "shareable" scallops. There were four, quarter size scallops (I actually got only 3 1/2) of nondescript taste, for $18.95. My husband described his smash burger as going to Wendy's for five times the price. Three dollars more for fries instead of chips. Ridiculously overpriced food. Unorganized operation. Don't be fooled by their online presence like we were. Aside from the attractive outdoor setting and boat dock access, there was nothing positive to recommend about the Waterfront Restaurant. While the server was attentive, we had to wait 45 minutes before being served and several items were forgotten and not delivered. I ordered a very tasty sautéed perch, but the perch and fries were served cold - nothing like cold fish - and had to be sent back to be reheated. The pizza ordered was not served until we were ready to leave, and tasted like a grocery frozen pizza. A great place to lounge by the lake -- even if you'd just like to have a drink and stay a while! Very welcoming environment with open choice of seating -- shaded, beachside, inside, or bar-side. I greatly appreciate the Family-friendly atmosphere here! Beach access with space and toys for children to play. Dogs are also welcome to the outdoor patio areas! **This location is wheelchair and mobility-aid friendly, the bathroom area has a ramp for accessibility, as well. This is the only boat-accessible restaurant I have ever seen in Michigan! Plenty of doc space to park in straight from the water to dine in or grab a drink to-go. A wide menu selection, seafood, weekly specials, and live music. My personal favorite is the Saganaki! Largest martini menu I have ever seen-- and half-off on Thursdays, which is a nice touch! Hospitable staff and professional service. Ray-- the live musician "the Breeze," is incredibly talented--; playing live music on weekends! He is very personable and really adds to what makes this place special. Great place to host events or gatherings. Recently moved to the area and had family visiting from out of town and wanted to spend time on the lake. The Waterfront was just the perfect place! Came here with a family of 32. Genuinely the worst restaurant experience in my well-traveled life. Went with my wife and two daughters in July and have sat on writing this review ever since. For context, it was a beautiful day and we sat outside, which is a lovely area looking out at the lake. We were the only customers there aside from one couple. Then everything went to hell. It took MORE THAN TWO HOURS to receive our food. And that food was truly awful from start to finish. The "jumbo" shrimp cocktail (which cost something like $18) was four medium-sized shrimp. $4.50 per shrimp is wild. for some reason, almost everything was served with the same "crostini" bits. Which were so stale we couldn't bite through them. The open-face "filet bites" sandwich was also served on these crostinis rather than bread. just some overcooked pieces of steak (not filet) on inedible crostini pieces with mayo forked on top (see the photo, you can see the marks from the mayo being slopped on with a fork. The spinach and artichoke dip was freezing cold with an impenetrable shield of hard melted cheese on top. Bruschetta was inedible because of a mix of (you guessed it) the crostini and being drowned in balsamic. There were more issues with the food but that's enough for this section. Our server was incredibly sweet. I hate to complain at a restaurant but it was too much so we did speak with her and a manager came over. He immediately said "that doesn't look right" about the steak "sandwich" and offered to replace ONE appetizer (we had ordered three, all of which were awful) with something else. We said "nachos should be safe." Nope, those were awful as well. Stale chips, bad cheese, all slopped together. He offered nothing for the steak sandwich he said "didn't look right" and then took one appetizer off of our bill. He did, however, yell at the server -- despite every failing being in the kitchen -- and when we told him that she was a great server he rolled his eyes at us and said "suuuuure." We were given a $100 check, being charged for several things we literally couldn't eat. Threw in a $20 tip with a note to the server to keep her head up. In short: Beautiful location, kitchen has no idea what they're doing and the manager seems like a jerk who also has no clue how to handle staff or customers. The service was terrible and I don't mean the server, she could not have been sweeter, kinder, or more apologetic. We just wish they were more prepared for us. We made a 6:30 reservation. By 8:40 we were still missing two meals. It took about 30 minutes for round one of drinks to come out. During our two and half hour adventure, we learned meals were no longer available. But they didn't tell us that when we ordered. Rather, they came out and told us sporadically as some meals were being delivered. The meals all came out at different times. Half the table was done before half the food was served. We did ask to see the manger. She was very kind and offered to take the two steak meals off the bill. While we were still waiting for the two steaks the owner came in. He sat down and wanted to know the whole story.... Again. We just wanted to leave, but we had to relive the nightmare. He became frustrated and called his staff over and berated them. This made us extremely uncomfortable. The mistakes were in the kitchen and at the bar. The water view was very nice. We had been traveling for over ten hours and looking for a good local place to eat with a nice water view. Both my wife and daughter had the grilled chicken with rice and broccoli. We enjoyed martinis on the deck here recently. Thursday nights are 1/2 martinis and their selection is huge! The four of us each enjoyed two - we really liked the more fruity options like the French cosmo with added a raspberry liqueur. The guys had prime rib which was tender and served pink as we had asked. The girls opted fir a chicken tender wrap . It was big enough we shared with our guys. Crispy lettuce snd nicely seasoned breaded chicken was delicious. Now the bad and the reason for the lower rating-service was very slow. Very very slow. There was one server and a cook. We could see this when we got there and were patient. But the poor guy was simply overwhelmed. We were in no hurry and still had a good time but we saw others behave less than civilly . I have been here before and I never thought that I'd have to give this place a bad review but the restaurant has changed drastically and unfortunately for the worse this is not the fault of our server she was great however a great server can not make up for expensive cold and disappointing dishes. Me and my partner ordered the scallops which used to be delicious, large pan seared scallops coated in a delicious flavorful sauce. What we got was tiny deep fried scallops coated in a flavorless cream and what tasted like canned pineapple juice the scallops were cold and the breading was barely attached to the scallops most of which fell off in the overly sauced mess. When our entrees came out I was generally disappointed before even biting into it the dish because it was tiny the shrimp looked like it had been pulled out of a bag and warmed up in the microwave and the best part of the meal was there crostini's because the pasta was flavorless all you could taste was olive oil and raw garlic barely minced I finished the meal disappointed and embarrassed for suggesting eating here. For the price the experience was unacceptable I can confidently say I've never had a worse experience eating out. Until there are major changes I don't think I'd ever recommend anyone coming here to eat. read more

To start off our server was super sweet and this was no fault of hers. However the food was NOT worth what my partner and I paid for. He got a $26 shrimp scampi that had 4 large shrimp (were kinda cold) but the meal tasted like nothing but olive oil and herb which threw us off because it's supposed to be a buttery garlic sauce. There was no flavor, noodles were dry, and the portion size was really small in comparison to the chicken Alfredo and considering it was that expensive it was just outrageous. Not to mention the scallops were nothing like what the menu shows online. They're small, deep fried and coated in the walnut pineapple sauce. They used to be bigger and pan seared. We have been before 2 years ago and the food was amazing, however the restaurant's quality has gone down by MILES and therefore we will not be returning. Biggest "WTF" moments I've ever experienced at a restaurant. Party of 8 had reservations. Nice music and seating outside, great views of lake....this is where the accolades end and the trouble begins. (Cue the Twilight Zone instrumental) Three of us arrived early and ordered drinks, water, and appetizers. 30 minutes later the rest of group joined. Got our wine and tasteless martini (perhaps put some alcohol in next time. (WTF Counter=1). Asked about waters for group and was told they didn't have any clean glasses yet. How long does it take to wash glasses (WTF Counter=2)? Asked about my shrimp cocktail and was told they were still "fixing" it. It took them 70 minutes to bring out shrimp cocktail (WTF Counter=3). I think I got 3 or 4 shrimp for only $18.95 (insert sarcasm and a WTF Counter=4). They must had gone to the East coast to catch some in that amount of time! The rest if group had ordered drinks and waters which took excessive amount of time (WTF Counter=5). They finally decided to do dishes so we could have water in glasses at the table. At this point, decided to cut our losses and get check. More time expired and no one had brought out our checks (WTF Counter=6), so we left cash at table. Got to parking lot and a waitress ran out to tell us not to pay (too late and WTF Counter=7), but didnt see her going to get our money on the table. They offered free brunch the next day, but we were all leaving as was the last day of our vacations. And a BIG "Heck No" to that. After looking at months of advertising in a regional shoppers guide about The Waterfront, I thought I would take my 1st wife there for our 48th wedding anniversary. I looked at recent Yelp reviews but decided to take the risk to enjoy an early dinner and take in the views at Paw Paw Lake with the beautiful weather we were having. We enjoy good food and the ambience at places like Tabor Hill, Ruth's Chris, Tosi's and Win Schuler's to name a few. For us, The Waterfront restaurant did not disappoint. The wait staff was great and attentive. We shared our food selections which were fresh and perfectly prepared. It could not have been a more enjoyable experience for us. Four thumbs up from my wife and I. It's a keeper for a return visit even though it is a 70 minute drive for us. Thanks for giving us a memorable experience. Keep up the great work. read more

Run don't walk AWAY! This is a terribly run establishment. We waited 2 hours, yes 2 hours for our food. We were told after one hour they were out of whitefish so we chose something else. Half hour later they said they had it. We complained the food was taking so long and it was already 8:00. By 8:30 pm the food arrived. Not even 1 star. Food was horrible and we had to tell the manager we couldn't eat it. It was gross food. We told him we'd pay for the drinks and salads. This place needs to close down. We went for Sunday brunch. The website detailed a lavish brunch. Advertised soup( none available). Advertised desert bar( a few frozen cookies were available). Advertised a chocolate fountain( not available.) We called the night before to make a reservation. When we arrived we were THE ONLY people in the restaurant. We did not have table service. No salt or pepper shakers. No napkins. When we did ask the server politely took care of our requests. The breakfast food was more than satisfactory. When we received our bill the prices that were on the website and that were quoted on the phone were $3.00 more than our quote and we were told one and three year olds were free. We were charged $10.00. When I brought this to the attention of our server she corrected the prices. The mistake came from the management, not from the server. It has been a couple of years since I've been to the Waterfront. After a shopping trip to St. Joe, we stopped in to listen to some music and a bite to eat. I really like their patio which overlooks Paw Paw Lake and the gazebo where the musician sets up. The music was great. Like most restaurants these days, their menu is pretty limited. I opted for a burger, which was prepared just as I asked. Our waitress was attentive, but it appeared she was the only one working the patio, so we just had to have patience. What a disappointment!!!!!!! Wish there was a rating lower than 1 star. We went there Wednesday, May 30, 2024 for my wife's 62 birthday. Thursday night is supposed to be Prime Rib and Lobster Tails are part of their standard menu - they had neither. Our party of four and another party of two was all that was in the restaurant, and they had 2 servers and a bartender, yet the service was SLOW, over 30 minutes for appetizers and an hour for dinner. I wish I could say it was worth the wait. The saganaki was burnt on bottom and served with hard toast rounds. The scallops were swimming in coconut milk. I had Polynesian chicken; the breast was small and hard to cut with a knife, the two-coconut shrimp were overcooked and hard to eat. My daughters' French fries cold, chicken tenders overcooked, hamburger overcooked. My wife had the perch and said it was good. We had martinis with our 1/2 on Wednesday but when the bill came, they were charged at full price, which the waiter fixed after waiting another 5 minutes. If it wasn't for the beautiful scenery this place would have NOTHING to offer. So, to sum up 2 appetizers (0 acceptable), 4 entrees (only one acceptable), 3 martinis and 2 soft drinks $180 plus tip. Went tonight and beyond disappointed. My parents live on 30 acres in Covert (8 mins away) we try our hardest to support local businesses especially during COVID. We went our first time in June to celebrate Father's Day everything was amazing; when I first came back from FL they were excited to show me a new place they discovered. Everything about this place is disgusting. The outdoor seating literally was a junk yard, there was a broken fridge, broken grill and litter everywhere even in the water. Honestly not sure how the health department hasn't shut them down. Took 25 minutes to be acknowledged after sitting down. Drinks were horrible and overpriced--also took forever to get. Ordered a shrimp cocktail that was absolutely vile. I am pretty sure they microwaved frozen shrimp then served it. Spit it out. French fries were freezer burned and mushy. When we were docking our boat, we were warned by another boat of people not to eat here because it was disgusting...foolishly we didn't heed their warning. The short of it: it took 2.5 hours to get a glass of wine, two appetizers, and two entrees. All of the food was terrible--seriously it was the worst meal out my husband and I have had together. We tried thinking of a worse meal and couldn't. And the bill was outrageously $90 including tip. Oh and they ran out of buns and chicken the night we were there, eliminating 3/4 of their menu. Here's why I'm giving two stars, not one: 1. server staff was nice -- stressed out, but nice. 2. I'd like this place to get their sh*t together so we can come back. We have a house on paw paw and would love to come here often if they could just figure out how to make decent food...just decent food. Here is my recommendation to ownership and management: simplify your menu! Even if you do 5 options really, really good -- that would be such a vast improvement to what you are putting out now. You need quality control -- you clearly aren't tracking inventory, both in terms of what you have available and what is still fresh. Simplifying your menu would ease a that burden! Once you get competent at those five things, add a daily special or something. Even if it's pizzas (which, by the way, has great margins) and appetizers ...just do whatever you do really well and stop putting out awful food. Oh and that martini list is a waste of your service staff's time. No one needs that many martinis on their menu. If you ever do fix your menu, put a sign facing the lake that says "new menu" so we know to give it another try. read more

We made reservations for outdoor seating by the lake, as soon as we walked in we where greeted and taken to our table. However the restaurant wasn't busy at all. The menu was shortened because of corona virus they were also out of 2 or 3 different fishes one being the sea bass. I think this is a good restaurant mainly if you want the outdoor seating by the lake. I felt the food portions were a little small for the prices, and honestly I kinda walked out hungry. Our bill was 185.00 for 5 people we all had one or two alcoholic beverages, so not bad for 5 people, however portion size could be a little bigger. I stayed on the lake at an Airbnb recently. The Waterfront was super close, so it was our "go-to" place. We got drinks, which were great! We really didn't get much food though. I did have the opportunity to try the stuffed mushrooms, and they were fantastic (I'm always scared of stuffed mushrooms, but these really were good). The owner was super hospitable and made us feel right at home. Definitely a place I would come back to! read more
