Me and the hubby love this place we have been coming on Sundays to watch our favorite team because THEY HAVE THE NFL TICKET!!! The food is awesome my favorite is the bang bang shrimp!!! The burgers are yummy and the wings are full of flavor!! The service has always been on top of it they keep the beer flowing and your glass full!! Btw they have some of the cutest holiday decor!!! Food was ok. We hit the place on a very slow Tuesday night. Looks like it could be fun with a band or karaoke, but we weren't there on one of those nights. Situated on the riverfront so there's a nice view and good outside seating. About the food. . . Typical bar food. Not well done but not awful. Service was good. We've been going to Babe's for years and really appreciate the new owners' efforts to improve the menu. The place feels cleaner now, too, and our servers are always so cheerful and attentive. We always enjoy dining on the patio, when weather permits. Unfortunately, every time we've gone this summer--I'll say it been a half dozen visits--we've had to tolerate smokers. Per state law, smoking is not allowed outdoors where food is served, and I don't know why the establishment allows it. Diners shouldn't have to be in the awkward position of complaining about other guests breaking state law. Designate/cordon off/add a table or two outside the back door for smoking, where a lot of smokers already retreat? keep them away from the dining area, please. read more

Places is dump trash everywhere rotten turkey hamburger meat left in parking lot The wings were overpriced $13.95 tasteless dry and small. Perch dinner for $18.95 portion was small probably frozen french fries were undercooked and way over salted. My wings tasted like the fryer oil hadn't been changed in months. Maybe a great place for drunks. Maybe a good place for rich people to overpay for subpar mediocre bar food. It's a shame this place under new management operates like this. The new owners have invested a lot of time and money to revitalize the building. They are also taking steps to improve the menu and have switched to a higher quality food supplier. They are trying various things to attract more people and things that don't work, they stop doing. If you haven't been to babe's in a few years, give them a look. read more

I wonder if they were short staffed but it took forever to get an appetizer in, I got a pretzel with cheese and the cheese was cold. My friend got jalapeño poppers and the cheese in those were cold too. Maybe the fryer was an issue. Wound up going somewhere else to eat dinner. read more

I've been coming to karaoke at babes for years, and a couple years ago I started bringing my son with me as they moved the time up to start at 8pm. My son is now 10 and well behaved and loves to sing. We've been coming here regularly the last few weeks as a reward for doing well at school. Apparently Keith the owner takes offense to my son being there and eating dinner with me and singing songs. When I asked about why I was told kids can't be in a bar after 9pm, which I pointed out they are a restaurant and we were having dinner. The next response I got was "well Keith the owner has a personal rule that he can't be here and he can't sing". So even if it's before 9pm my son can't have dinner there and can't sing. Also none of this was told directly to me. Keith told his bartender, who told the guy running karaoke, who told me, and then I was treated like shit by the staff for trying to find out why. So now I have a crying special needs 10 year old who think the entire restaurant hates him and doesn't want him there because the owner is a fucking prick. read more

Very friendly service but limited menu. We sat outside so we could see the boats go by and was given a 2 sided half sheet menu. Has your typical deep fried appetizers and a few menu items. We ordered the jalapeno peppers and was told the sauce cups were .50 cents a piece. The poppers came out quick but were a little burnt. We watched a few boats go by and ate the poppers. We decided to leave and go someplace else. They need a better menu, it seems they only want to focus on alcohol. I would not recommend this place to my friends. read more

Babes Monday Night Wings. OMG! Jo-Mamma you knock it out of the park every time. I'm a bit of a purist so I always order some Salt & Pepper wings & some Mild ones as well. Joe swears by his Medium Hot Wings. My sis' got the Garlic Parmesan, which are nice and garlicky, but not so much that you wake up tasting garlic. Well she only let me have one so I don't really know. These are worth the trip over the bridge on Monday Night. Right acrossed the street from the St Joseph River and up the road a little from the new Whirlpool Facility. @ .50 cents a wing in groups of seven you cannot beat a meal at that price. Couple that with a pint of Bells Beer for $3.00 or if you have a case of the Monday's have a PBR & a shot of Jameson for $5.00. Dinner with tip for $10.00. That's bananas . What I like aside from Babes being a Benton Harbor institution & their service being perfectly Babes is that the wings are the right size, not enormous so you know it's a great product. The flavor is on point, not sure what your secret is Joe, but keep it up. Lastly they are naked, so no breading and they don't need it. Crisp and delicious. Don't expect a to go box. Ya gotta eat what you order. Bring someone to chat with or have a seat at the bar. Not a long wait, but long enough to know those wings are cooked to order. They come out piping hot. Since new ownership things are looking up and excited for the changes. Only suggestion would be when a group orders a meal for dinner make sure it all is served at one time so the family can enjoy together rather than bringing one meal at a time read more

Decor looks very dated, like it's from the 70s or 80s. Burger was too greasy, my bun was soggy and falling apart. Loved their onion rings. Drinks were good and so was the service. Location near the water is perfect. May come back on a day there are fireworks to enjoy them, along with grabbing some fries or onion rings and a drink. read more

We were on vacation in St Joe, but everything there closed down around 9. Stopped in at Babe's after 9:30 and was more than pleasant surprised. First off, our waitress Lori was phenomenal! She made us feel like we were regulars and even put on a kids show on one of the TV's for our kid to enjoy. The food was very good also, I had the wings with hot sauce, which has a good amount of heat and flavor. Wife had the shrimp dinner and kid has the chicken tenders. Drinks were made very good as well. The only improvement would be on the blue cheese served with wings could have been better than regular restaurant grade stuff. All in all very good prices as well. Babe's Lounge is one of the most under-rated and under-the-radar restaurants in the Saint Joseph, Benton Harbor area. We went for lunch on a Thursday afternoon, and most of us ordered their Burgers, while one in our party ordered the tacos. For a quick lunch, at even better prices, Babe's is simply awesome. You can get a fantastic burger for $4.99 + $2 for a side of fries! They supposedly have $2 drafts and some of the cheapest prices for good beer in town. We have had a boat 5 minutes from here for years! How did I not know about this place? Live music. Good burgers and the staff were really friendly. Not fancy more of a pub feel to the place. We"ll be back to try the perch! read more

My dad has brought me to babes since I was a kid. Growning up I didn't have a grandfather but since we were frequently there Babe treated me like his grandson. When I was playing college football he even put my picture up behind the bar. Great bar, great people, and hands down the best burger and wings you can get in the state of Michigan. read more

We stopped by Babe's after a rehearsal dinner at Bread+Bar--it was the highlight of the weekend! The bartenders and owner were so nice, the karaoke was fun, drinks were cheap, and everyone there was welcoming to our big group of out-of-towners. Babe's forever! read more

I love Babes. There are always nice people there. Babe, Joe, Lori, Laci and Cheri are great staff people and Jon and Andy are awesome with the karaoke. The BEST PERCH around Lake Michigan!! They give you a good mess o' lake perch and fries. Great prices on all their drinks. Nice atmosphere, huge diningroom, outdoor patio overlooking the St. Joseph river. Nice area. REAL GREAT FOOD!!!! Recommend this place to friends all the time! read more
