High end menu right on the beautiful Siuslaw River with reasonable pricing for this elevated cuisine. Make reservations way ahead of time. We lucked into an outside table but the waitress said they were fully booked for a couple of weeks.

We had a very good experience here. In California, when you eat on the waterfront expect to pay ridiculous prices for bad food and bad service. You know what you're paying for, the view.....unless you're willing to pay even more; most likely the food will suck and the service will be bad because your waiter is crazy busy. Positives: -the prices were very reasonable and affordable. We got a lot of great tasting seafood and finished everything we had. The seafood boil was great. The stuffed mushrooms were amazing too. -service was great, our waitress was very honest giving us her honest opinion on what we should order. She recommended we share too instead of trying to sell us an additional dish. -ambiance, sitting outdoors on a waterfront you can't beat that. Overall 5/5 I honestly loved my experience so much that I'm ready to leave California behind. California is overrated, that's my honest opinion being a California native of almost 40 years. I used to love it and think that I would never want to leave. I can't say that anymore, especially recently.

What an amazing experience!! The staff were delightful, the food and drinks were delicious, and the view was spectacular! I had the Rosemary Gimlet, and it was delicious. My wife had a Manhattan, and she commented that they really know how to make a Manhattan. The Caesar salad with crab was amazing, as was the seafood pasta. Leslie was so fun and attentive, and she made the experience even better. We will DEFINITELY be back the next time we are traveling through.

The waterfront Depot restaurant was amazing. My family came here for Christmas dinner so keep that in mind we ordered specials and special cocktails from the Christmas menu. This restaurant is small. You are going to have to call ahead and have a reservation, but it is well worth it. The drinks were so fun and whimsical perfectly themed Christmas and paired very well with our dinner For the dessert, we ordered three different slices of cake the mixed berry, the chocolate and the Tres Leche. They were all phenomenal, but the mixed berry was incredible. For dinner, I had the duck which was cooked perfectly. This restaurant may be small, but it is mighty. Definitely add to your list next time you're on the coast.

We arrived when they opened at 3pm. We chose a seat at the bar. The bartender was friendly and helpful with local knowledge. He explained the meaning of the photos on the wall. I won't go into details so as not to spoil anyone else's experience for their first time here. There was also a younger man working behind the bar who didn't know the menu items well. He was helpful and friendly as he could be, but he really should have been given better training IMHO. We started with the calamari strips and crab stuffed mushrooms. The calamari was very tender but the breading slid off in one piece like a glove. Luckily it was all tasty so no biggie. The stuffed mushrooms were very tasty and lived up to the hype. Hubby had the crab- encrusted halibut and said it was flavorful. I had the scallops with cappellini pasta. It was a rich tasting dish and quite filling. Overall the service and food were good.

I don't know where to begin. Everything was amazing! The food is outstanding. First class. Adorable ambience. Indoor seating is cozy and friendly. The service is incredibly. Absolutely perfect location on the waterfront. Great cocktails, the food was so tasty. Service was outstanding. I could go on and on. I recommend reservations. Very busy on the weekends.

I ordered the pomegranate jalapeño margarita, and the crab encrusted halibut. Both were absolutely delicious. I sat at the bar, the bartenders were cool, to my left was this window, with an epic view of the river. Really great atmosphere and food!

Wow! This is an amazing place. Very small (maybe 12 tables) so make a reservation. We did not have one but arrived about 2:45 (they open at 3) and got two spots at the bar. Service was spot on, always ready to help. We had a couple local beers and some clam chowder to start. I had the pistachio encrusted halibut. Perfectly cooked, so good. It came with mashed potatoes (or rice) and a small Caesar salad. My husband had the salmon piccata, also fabulous! We finished with a slice of carrot cake. Unbelievable bargain for the level of food and service.

We queued up a bit before the restaurant opened. You line up on the side of the building. They seat reservation and then add in the walk ins. We were lucky to get a two top inside by a large window. The staff was all lovely and quick! Started with the pomegranate jalapeño margaritas and crab cakes. We decided on the Alaskan Halibut with a crab sauce for our main courses. All amazingly delicious!

We did not expect to find a French place anywhere in the vicinity, but we did. We had such a great time at Restaurant O, we went back a second night. We made reservations for Friday at 5. When we showed up, we were greeted by Patricia and instantly fell in love with the look and feel of the place as well as Patricia's hospitality and attentiveness. The menu blew us away-- it had all the things: Foie Gras, Oysters, Escargot, Tartare... the list goes on. We're used to enjoying this type of menu in Portland, but finding it in tiny Coos Bay was a real treat. The wine list was fabulous. Everything we had was prepared with great care and presentation. We had reservations and the hostess took us to an upstairs dining area with a beautiful view of the bay. We brought our own wine and Bill was great and opened both bottles. The room was nicely decorated with various pieces of art along the walls and on the tables. The appetizers of pork belly buns, truffle fries, and Thai spiced steak tare tare were wonderful. Chef O also sent us a complimentary appetizer as the food took a little longer. It was very nice of him to do so. Bill told us they were down one chef and had the party of 30. I had the dungeness crab and prawn linguine, our friend had the special of the day with steak and prawns, and my hubby had the ribeye. Everything was tasty. Definitely go back again.

What really stood out this time was the oyster shooters. I live on the coast and eat my share of fresh oysters. Most often, I've bought them at the source and shucked and eaten them same day- very fresh. Often, even the best coastal restaurants serve oysters that are ever so slightly (un-fresh). It may have been the timing, but those. Shooters tasted like they came right out of the water minutes before serving. Well done, Drift Inn! It's automatically added to our bill. ‍ It began shortly after we were seated. After glancing over the menu for about 5 minutes or less, we were ready to order but our server said in a snarky tone, "I'mmm NOT ready to take your order." We patiently waited for a few more minutes and she returned to finally take our order. The food was above average (a bit more expensive than other establishments) and the restaurant was ocean-trendy enough until we had to pay the bill. Again, our server was nowhere to be found for 5-10 minutes. Maybe she was on break, so we patiently waited. Finally, she emerged from the ocean depths, and I kindly asked for the bill. She passed our table four times until she finally had our bill. Glancing down at the bill it made sense...20% gratuity automatically added. Again, why should someone have to provide great service IF it's a guaranteed exceptional tip. ‍ Save your 20% tip and eat across the street at the fish house.

Rainy Day, Great Bar Seat, and One Memorable Meal…read more It was a cold, rainy Oregon afternoon when I stumbled into Castor, and I'm glad I did. There happened to be one open seat at the bar, which is my favorite place to dine when traveling. Sitting at the bar lets you talk story with the bartender, learn the menu, and watch the cocktails come together. If you're eating alone, I highly recommend grabbing a seat here. The bartender was friendly, easy to talk with, and clearly knew both the menu and the craft behind the bar. One thing that stood out right away was their use of fresh local ingredients, which really shows up in the flavor of the dishes and drinks. I started with the Golden Manhattan, made with a pecan-infused bourbon that was fantastic. It had a rich, slightly nutty flavor with warm vanilla notes and just the right touch of sweetness. Smooth, balanced, and a great way to kick off the meal. Alongside that I ordered the chorizo clam chowder, which brought a creamy base with just the right amount of spice from the chorizo. Comfort food with a little personality. For dinner I switched gears and ordered the Creole Sour. This one really stood out. Bright citrus up front, a smooth bourbon backbone, and a subtle spice note that tied perfectly into the Creole theme. It had that classic sour balance, tart, slightly sweet, and refreshing without overpowering the drink. Dinner was the gumbo with hot bread and butter, and it delivered. Deep flavor, a nice slow warmth from the spice, and hearty enough to make the rainy Oregon weather feel like part of the experience. To finish things off I kept it simple with a neat pour of Ben Holladay, which made for the perfect nightcap. The staff were welcoming and relaxed, which made the whole experience feel easy and comfortable. This is the kind of place that works whether you're dining solo, meeting friends, out with someone special, or grabbing dinner with a group. The price point landed right where it should be for the quality of food, cocktails, and service. If you're in Corvallis and can grab a seat at the bar at Castor, take it. Order a cocktail, settle in, and enjoy the ride. It turned a rainy afternoon into one heck of a meal.

I would never order that again. $37 isn't cheap and I expect more out of a nice piece of pork than being cooked to death. Couldn't really tell it was bourbon and brown sugar marinated. No trace of either of those flavors. Left half of it on my plate and let my server know it was dry. The Summer Maque Choux, which was underneath the pork chop was so off-the-hook good I got just an order of that to take home! They do serve the Maque Choux as a "Snack" and I highly recommend you try it. The pickled tomatoes served on top of the pork were sweet, juicy, and slightly pickled. Yum! The Crispy Pork Belly with the housemade mustard was delicious - the mustard has a great kick to it. The Trout with crispy capers, green beans, and hazelnuts was very tasty. Would get that again, for sure. The sliders were good...I'm not sure $5/each good...but good. Crème Brûlée was excellent. And they make the best Piña Colada I've had in a long time. I'd give 3.5 stars if I could, because that pork chop was soooooooo disappointing, but 4 it is. Everything else was tasty. I'll come back, but not go anywhere near that pork chop.
