Haven't been here in at least a year and it's not the same place. The service was stellar. The food, mediocre. I had Ravioli with the cream sauce (my favorite, I've had it many times before) -- but it was more like paste than sauce and bland, except for the prosciutto that was tough and way too salty. Hubby had the Whiskey Halibut and said it was good but not great. One in our party had the Steak Delmonico and he said it was bland. When he asked for steak sauce the waitress asked what was wrong. He explained the steak was flavorless. A few minutes later, the owner appeared. She asked what she could do, and our friend said, "I can't put my finger on it." Obviously she misunderstood him, because she replied in a rather harsh tone with, "no, I don't want to put my finger on it. I want to make it right. What can I do?" our friend, replied that he was fine. He didn't make a fuss. It was crowded and noisy, so she can perhaps be excused for being so brusque. All in all, not a terrible dinner. But we probably won't be back anytime soon, and our friends who had never been before are not likely to visit again. read more

I felt the food was average. Everything tasted bland, as if they put it together & served it instead of taking the time to build a flavor base first. I ordered the Bruschetta appetizer. The bread was very hard. The toppings were OK. My main course was Fettuccini Alfredo with shrimp. The shrimp was cooked perfectly however, the sauce was bland. The meal came with soup or salad and I opted for the Tuscan Tomato Soup which sounded delicious but was also bland. It was so loud in the restaurant I could not hold a conversation across the table with my husband. The best part of the meal was the chocolate torte with ice cream. For what it's worth, we called the day of our reservation and got a voice. We were able to secure a table at 5:30pm, on a Thursday. The restaurant is beautiful and intimate. It is what you hope an Italian restaurant to be. To start with we had an Italian gumbo. It was unique, but very good. I had the Scallops con Linguine. It was the perfect match of red peppers to cream and the scallops were perfectly cooked. My partner had the Italian Meatballs. Again, perfectly done, and thoroughly enjoyable. The service was impeccable. The server was very kind and accommodating. This is a great place to go to, just make sure you understand the "rules". I called, expecting nothing. Got the seafood pomodori, ngl I like NEVER make reviews but for the price I am super happy with my food I legit never do ts, waiter was so nice omg loved the service it was super nice my family loved talking to her. Ambiance was very calm and homey, the furniture was comfortable and spacious we didnt have to struggle to get out or make room for each other. The decor wasnt crazy beautiful but it doesnt need to be, it was cozy and simple and welcoming :D The seafood pomodori, with how many shells I got was only 24$, usually from other dishes I've gotten that are similar or nearly exact same have been around 30$ or more and with less seafood and just pasta really. This meal provided a good amount of pasta with a great amount of shell to make up for how small the meat the shells provide anyway, (which isnt their fault its just how they are so thats why its nice to have more) I don't live around here but I wish I did so I could come here more often, 10/10 I would recommend this over the other restaurants in the old town 100% read more

Had a lovely dinner at La Pomodori. Reservations are a must at this small, busy restaurant as most walk-ins were turned away. Our group of 6 was well taken care of by our server. Appetizers came out quickly and were flavorful and our salads came out shortly after that. The only thing that was timed a little awkwardly were the entrees. They were not all brought out at the same time and were a few minutes apart. My cacio e pepe had a nice cream sauce with parmesan. It had some pepper flavor but could have used more. The chicken that was added to it was plentiful and tender. To finish our meal, our group shared the tiramisu which had lovely boozy layers of lady fingers and mascarpone cheese. read more

So nothing on the yelp website it says you need a reservation & the girl says right away they are full with reservations and doesn't offer for us to order for take out since we had our dog. Which also on the yelp website says dog friendly & it really is not. Only service dogs. Anyway i did not think the girl was friendly. Our first time there after living in Florence for over a year. OMG, it was the best meal we've had in years. We started with the dreamy, creamy crab cakes, perfectly crispy and smooth. A great starter. Then my partner had the scallops and I had the veal Marsala. Both were mind blowing, to die for quality. Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly proportioned for the price. We had great service from Lisa, who handled it all, hostess, waitress and bartender! We will absolutely be back and relish every bite! Don't miss out, this is the best meal we've had in years anywhere! We are blessed to have this in little Florence. The only suggestion I have is the bread should come with the meal, WARM, and served with olive oil and balsamic for dipping. We used to plan on at least one dinner at La Pomodori whenever we were in Florence, but our tastes have changed and the restaurant hasn't. The menu is meat-heavy, pre-70's food: no Pasta Primavera here. Vegetables and salads are (sometimes disappointing) afterthoughts. These days, we want more from a salad than a pale tomato and some iceberg lettuce, which is what the "garden salad" amounted to on our last visit. The service and ambience are unexceptionable, the preparation and presentation of the classic dishes competent, but unspectacular. We recently had dinner here to celebrate the closing of our new home in Florence. It was a lovely experience and we think this will be our special occasion restaurant. We both had prawn pasta dishes with different tomato sauces. They were both delicious with perfectly al dente pasta. It seemed that there were only two staff, the chef and the server/hostess. If that's the case then service was even better than it seemed. I have one thing to say to other diners. This is a nice restaurant, not McDonald's. Please show the appropriate respect by dressing in decent clothing and teaching your children some table manners. read more

I left this review on google but it seems like it was removed... I'm honestly astounded at the horrible service we received at this restaurant this weekend. I've never experienced anything like it and hope no one else ever had to. When we first arrived, we were told they were getting our table for 10 ready. We didn't wait long until a woman came out (long brunette hair) and addressed us as "kids". We are all near 30s and I'd guess she was probably around mid 40s, but calling us kids was so off putting from the get-go. We didn't let it get to us and followed her in. One of the guests in our party brought a champagne bottle from their wedding to drink and asked for a bucket of ice, to which the same server acted like we had just asked her to do something beyond inconvenient. We let it slide, she wasn't our server and maybe was having a bad day.. we all get them. Two members of our party came late but we ordered for them. At this point, we were the only party in the restaurant. When they came, the gentleman laid his hat on the table beside him and took a seat. Immediately, the woman who initially sat us came over, took the hate and walked it to the front saying something to the extent of "I'm cleaning tables for tomorrow. You cannot do that." Very rude and odd, you could have just asked him if you could take it to the front? The lady who served us (blonde) was cheery and friendly, just as you would expect to be served and she was wonderful. When we got our appetizers (soups and salads), my boyfriend had a salad put down in front of him and when he said he didn't order one she quickly said she would give it to someone else. He said she could just leave it and she said no, that's okay. I asked him if that was normal to give to someone else and he explained to me that if food is served to someone then it doesn't go to someone else. She quickly came back over to finish off putting appetizers in front of everyone and said "I didn't say it was going to someone else. Someone in the kitchen would have ate it" and put it back in front of him with the soup he ordered. Odd. When we all got our food, we quickly noticed things were very over cooked (medium rare steak came out more well done, chicken florentine was tough and dry, pasta had bits of chicken that were hard to chew due to being over cooked). We didn't say anything and tried to enjoy the food in front of us. My boyfriend asked the lady who initially sat us if she could get him a steak knife for his chicken whenever she had a free moment. She was setting the table behind us and completely ignored him. Another gentleman in our party spoke up and said "excuse me, can we get a knife?" She threw her hands up, waved us off, stormed to the kitchen, got a knife and aggressively walked back to give it to us. I have never seen anything like that. She was BEYOND disrespectful. The vibe going forward was completely off. We were talking about our food being over cooked, to which the chef came out 10 minutes later and said "how is your food" in a somewhat unfriendly way. By this point, we were all feeling so uncomfortable and said it was fine. One of our party members said it was over cooked as he walked away and he continued back to the kitchen. By the end of the night, I think we all wished we could've ate anywhere BUT there. So rude, unfriendly and unprofessional. I don't know where all these good reviews came from because what we experienced was ANYTHING but positive. read more

I was in town for work and not a lot of places looked appealing to me, but I found La Pomodori and I was so impressed! I ordered the chicken parmaganio with pasta. The chicken was very flavorful and moist. The pasta was perfect in my opinion and the sauce was excellent. Hands down the best one I have had. For desert, I tried the cheesecake which was blood orange. It also was delicious. The cheesecake was airy, the flavors bright, but balanced and nothing overpowered any other flavor. The website says "Reservations highly recommended" and we were coming some 26 miles away from our vacation accommodations in Yachats for the special dinner so we called Thursday and booked our reservation for Saturday night at 6pm. We provided our name and iPhone number with the host for the confirmed reservation. On Saturday we drove the 45 minutes to the restaurant arriving at 6pm as per the reservation to find a note on the front door "Sorry, Restaurant closed, emergency." Of course, we understand in life that there are emergencies and unexpected events. That is normal. What we didn't expect was that the restaurant did not think it was important to contact the invited guests to let them know of the calamity so they could reschedule their reservations or make alternative plans. We ended up driving an hour and a half round trip to a closed restaurant on a Saturday night. A restaurant with a good reputation should have assigned some responsible person the task of contacting the guests. But that never happened. read more

Be sure to reserve a table in advance as it is the best Italian cuisine in Florence! I enjoyed the wild coho with caper sauce-healthy and delicious. The waitress is friendly and capable but unable to engage in small talk as so busy answering phone at same time waiting tables. I hope to reserve again next time in Florence. read more

We ate here tonight for the first time, What a treat. The setting is intimate and charming. The service was friendly and excellent. Our entrees were truly divine. Mine was halibut. His was ravioli. The flavors were subtle and every bite scrumptious. They serve bar drinks as well as a really nice wine selection. And then the tiramisu. It was ethereal and exquisite. Two words, EAT HERE! My partner and I had dinner at La Pomodori 3/23. We hadn't been in over 6 years and this was an exceptional return and we may well have discovered our new favorite place in Florence and our favorite Italian in the area, including Eugene. My partner had the Wild Caught Halibut that was beautifully prepared, fresh off the boat and wonderfully presented. Her house Caesar was fresh, crisp and perfectly coated with all the Caesar "stuff". The Cream of Tomato/Basil soup was fresh, spicy and at the table in no time. My Veal Parmigiana (yes. really veal) was excellent. Crispy, milky white and it literally melted in my mouth. There was a LOT of it too! They have no Italian beer, but it's Oregon. We have beer here. The wine list isn't big, but it's quite well rounded and perfect for this menu. Two other menu items merit awards of distinction. The Tiramisu is some of the best we've had in years. It's not too heavy, not soaked and doesn't bowl you over with liquor. The star of the show however was the Fontina Fiore! This is essentially Queso Fundido Italian style. When you go to La Pomodori order this. You'll love it. We can't say enough good about this excellent, hometown restaurant! Oh yes! The service was prompt, friendly, knowledgeable, engaging and fun! This is a place you shouldn't miss! read more

The service is outstanding and they are more than willing to explain any items, make suggestions and accommodate as much as possible.
