My wife and I stopped in on a trip from IL to Detroit. We loved the location and venue! Very cool decor and loved the old scuba-diver theme/logo. Also cool 'edgy' vending machine options and merch. The beers were also pretty above par, we enjoyed the Pow Plow DDH DIPA. Unfortunately they don't provide flights, but the bartender was nice enough to let us try a lot of samples before ordering. However the service we got was not actually very good. The blonde bartender who served us was quite disengaged and answered our questions about different hops used in an IPA with 'a lot'. When my wife asked about the story behind the naming of a stout 'Substitute Teacher' the bartender said 'he was a substitute teacher... We were hoping to learn more about this brewery as we are in the brewing industry ourselves and were excited about trying a new place with a good reputation. Because of this less than welcoming set of interactions, we left after one beer and probably won't be returning. Furthermore the brewery does not offer 'industry discount' - so this stopped me from buying their $18 four pack. read more

After such horrible service at a more popular brewery we walked out of, we walked into this brewery and were met with open arms and friendly service. There was a porter they were serving that had that the deeper chocolate/coffee notes that was exactly what I was looking for. The other beers were on the lighter side for me (usually go for sours or ipa's) but had nice flavors. They didn't have the sours or ipa's we usually look for when we were there, but I just read a review that they do serve these types, just maybe ran out or are out of season? Regardless, the service was amazing and didn't get the too-cool-for-you brush-off we got at the other place. Will definitely be back when we're in the area. read more

Sometimes you find that unexpected gem and it makes your day/trip. This was one of those times. Already having visited 7 breweries/bars on our guys weekend, Watermark was the last on our list. We had expected to stay maybe an hour and ended up there for 4 hours. The beers were good but it was the atmosphere itself that really makes it stand out. College Football on the tv's, the garage doors open to let the cool breeze it, the lawn seating filled with families enjoying the beers, playing bags, bringing in dinner to eat. It was just a great, laid back atmosphere. The owners made a smart decision to utilize the lawn area. It honestly felt like being at a backyard party. This is such a fun place to get together with friends. Outdoor picnic tables, fire pits, and corn hole. There is also a heated and covered outdoor area as well as indoor seating. I cannot get enough of this place. Their beer is all incredible. I love the warehouse it's in and the relaxing atmosphere that it has. They have a lot of beers to choose from, and plenty of seating. They have a nice beer garden outside, with picnic tables to patio furniture, and even a nice leather couch. They have a nice grassy area with a couple sets of corn hole boards to play. On top of all this, they are pet friendly. We brought our dog here the first time we came in December and it was a great experience for him. They have a calendar of events most days, and a calendar of which food truck will be there every single day, with a variety of them, ranging from bbq to arepas. This was the final brewery of the day on my brewery tour trip to Michigan. This place is pretty cool, it looks like someones house and the whole "front yard" area has couches and picnic tables outside and there is also an inside area with tables like a normal bar. There is no food and no waiter service, you order your beers at the counter and find a seat (there are plenty). It reminded me of being at a friends house and hanging out in their yard. I will also say that they had my favorite beer of the whole trip, the "Kwan-Tsu" it had a passion fruit taste to it and it was just spectacular. I would recommend this place just to try that beer alone. Overall this place is a lot of fun, especially if you have a big group of people to hang out with. read more

We really enjoyed ourselves at Watermark. All of the beers were solid; we particularly liked the coffee beer called Pipeworks and the IPA named Amarillo. This place had a fun vibe---much better than most breweries. They have inside and outside seating plus a big yard with various games such as bean bag toss. Watermark does not serve food but they frequently have vendors who do serve food on site (e.g. Food trucks). They have free pretzels. You can also get a nice sized bowl of cashews for only $3. The prices on the beer are reasonable and I like how they offer differences sizes so you can try more beers if you like. Ample parking. The staff were friendly. The bathrooms and premises overall were clean. There was a real mix of people when we visited which I thought was cool. There were families with kids, lots of couples, big groups---anyone would fit in here and enjoy themselves. Also, dog friendly which is outstanding and adds to the laid back atmosphere. A big barn brewery with tons of space for hangouts, both indoors/outdoors/screened in, including fire pits and beer games, plus space for board games. A good example of the community gathering place for an American brewing taphouse. Otherwise though, it's pretty no frills - only serve beer or cider, and I wasn't personally a big fan of most of the beers, at least not the offerings I had on the day I visited.
