The Water's Edge is one of the best motels in Wildwood! Only a short walk to the boardwalk and right off the beach, Water's Edge is in a great location. All of the rooms and everything in them were very clean. It didn't even feel like too much of a motel. Great for families, and they have a no smoking policy. Our side balcony had a fantastic view as well. They had a fridge, microwave, oven, dishwasher, and plenty of silverware and dishes for us to use for cooking in. Great for the whole family! read more

This was the second year I stayed here and I love it! Love the view to the ocean love all the staff! Love the pool and especially the big deck that we can hang out. Yes it needs some updates because of course the building is not new but it works out great either way. Very clean. Sad part is that I go to wildwood every year for the last weekend of April and they are not open so we have to stay somewhere else. Next year I'm there for sure! read more

Unfortunately there were few other options for me as I needed 2 bedrooms. Thinking the suite option at Water's Edge would be perfect, and located on the Crest, it would leave us in a quieter spot. The location was convenient. Not being much of a Wildwood fan, this felt like a good choice. Between the view, the pool and the appearance, my advice is...don't do it. Lots of better options in the area, and if you need 2 bedrooms, just rent 2 rooms. read more

The good: Ocean front, sitting on patio with coffee in morning, relaxing in afternoon watching ocean. Glass was width of room - this is the only hotel I saw with this feature, and it's a big plus for me. Hotel is clean - staff does an excellent job and maintenance is extremely helpful. Kitchenette had coffee maker, toaster, etc. Everything was usable and contained what was expected. Bike racks outside were great since we brought our own. The not so good: Caveat - most Wildwood hotels were built between 1957-1970. While the designs are nice to look at, they have severe shortcomings, particularly when compared with modern hotels. I will say that Water's Edge is better than most others we've stayed at. Noise - The design of the hotel lends itself to street noise, as the entrance in the rear is open to parking area and street. View - Yes, you are looking at the ocean, unless you're on floor 1 (we were not) - you see a parking lot, or pool fence depending on location. On floor 3, we were overlooking a large patio area which meant anyone there could look right into our room. Bathroom - Desperate need of renovation. Everything did work well and plenty of hot water and pressure in shower. The bathroom door opened out into the room which I found odd. Upon closer inspection, I saw it had originally opened in (this is correct), but was modified. Only reason I can see is they put a towel rack on the wall which would have prevented the door from opening all the way. Having it open out was problematic as someone passing by could get hit - and they did. Safe - I complained there was no safe on day 2 only to be told that there was a safe and that I should have read the paper given to me and asked for a key ($10 deposit). The safe is merely a metal box they installed in the wall, approx 12"x12"x2" (ours was in the bathroom and rusting). We were able to cram our valuables in which provided some measure of security. Egress - Elevator - there's one in the center of the building. It's large (this is very good) but it's also used by the maid staff during check out time (this is very bad). The stairs are on either end of the building, so if you get frustrated with the elevator (only ground floor shows where the elevator is), you must walk all the way to one end of the building instead of having the stairs easily accessible as an alternative. read more

From the get go, I was treated with a complete lack of regard for the fact that I am disabled & dying from Medical Malpractice. I came by cab to this motel from Atlantic City-and trust me when I say I have stayed at nicer & cleaner Motel 6 rooms in the past. Upon walking into the tiny bathroom, I discovered mosquitos flying in the bathtub. My room temperature continuously climbed to 73 & 74 degrees over my 3 day stay, though I mentioned the insane heat in my room. There was also a broken dresser in the room & constant flies. I took out my garbage daily. My room was right by the pool which was fine until the day before I left when this 2 or 3 year old boy kept screaming for two hours straight. Some people should be spayed before becoming parents. As I was leaving; I was actually threatened by this temper tantrum producing boy's grandmother & the motel did absolutely nothing to address the situation! If you go to this motel, there will be no services & you are actually charged for calls made from the in-room phone. Stay far away from this horrific waste of money & energy! read more

We just got back from a wonderful stay at the Water's Edge, which we booked the day before. I was with my husband and 3 year old. The women behind the front desk were very friendly when we arrived this past Saturday. They gave my son a cute heart key chain, which he loved. We stayed in an ocean front efficiency on the 4th floor. The cleaning ladies we ran into were also very friendly and chatted with us on the elevator. The room was very clean (including the bathroom and the kitchen area) - I'm very picky and I was happily surprised. The view was fantastic. I really enjoyed the private balcony. The family room area was large and the fridge came in handy with our toddler. The beds were also comfortable. I did notice that one set of sheets had some balls on them (no biggie), as they were still clean, just not smooth. The other set though were perfect. I liked how there were a lot of clean towels in the bathroom. Great location for families, as it was very quiet. You are also able to leave your car in the parking spot at the hotel until about 2 -3 pm, which was a plus. We will definitely return for more than 1 night. Thanks Water's Edge!! read more

Ok so, there is a huge sign that says "all rooms oceanfront" and our room is not remotely oceanfront. Our view is of the Gondolier motel and their pool! For sure not worth the price we paid. If you need a 2-room suite, you're better off staying at either of the places near here and just getting separate rooms. It was dingy and not at all as modern or clean looking as nearly any of the motels within a 90-second walk of this place. ALSO- they make a big deal of giving you the wifi password and I have literally had NO SERVICE all week. The wifi sucks and isn't worth it. Honestly- pass this place up and go literally anywhere else. You can do better, and shame on them for not trying to DO BETTER. read more

I've never stayed at a hotel in WWC before, we usually rent a condominium. This resort did not disappoint. We were on the second floor above the pool. Great views from the private balcony. The balcony is a real balcony, it's not a walk way unless you're on the first floor. The privacy of the balcony was wonderful. Loved our location because we had easy access to the sun deck. It's directly across the street from two beach entrances and a block from WWC boardwalk. Lots of things to do within walking distance. In addition to being an easy walk to the WW boardwalk. The staff was super nice and very accommodating. There's tons of games on the sun deck and the first floor by the pool. The BBQ area was very convenient. We ate meals at the tables on the sun deck which was very nice. The room was spotless. We had a one bedroom that had two beds with a full living room, pull out sleeper sofa which was also comfortable, fully stocked kitchen, dishes, utensils, pots, pans, coffee maker, oven/stove, microwave, full sized refrigerator with freezer and a large dining room table. There's a door that closes for the bedroom. Two flat screen TVs. Bathroom with a full tub/shower. The decor was clean and crisp. It's not dated at all, which is something I was worried about. Beds were very comfortable. The bedding was white and not the multiple colored blankets shown. All neural decor. I traveled with my teenagers and they loved the hotel and location. Fun atmosphere but everyone was very respectful at night and it wasn't noisy at all. We will definitely be returning. read more

This is our second stay at Waters Edge and we hope to have many more. The "D" room has two bedrooms each with their own bathroom (one of them is common to the living room though), plus a large living room/kitchen that even has a friggin' oven. I mean, I don't know what we're baking, but cool. All of the oven items were wrapped in clean foil, everything in the kitchen was clean. The rooms were super clean and had a cool shampoo dispenser. Beds were pretty uncomfortable, but a comfortable bed is not something I expect at ANY motel at the beach. Our room had two balconies, both facing the ocean. My only complaint, and only because I'm a moron, is that it took me a whole day to figure out where the stairs were. The elevator was slow and old, but not as slow as some of the other motels in Wildwood, so no big deal. But if there had been a fire in that first day, I would have died. Now, there are "EXIT" signs next to the stairs, but the door to the stairs is just a solid green and looks (to me) like it could be a second door to one of the larger suites at the hotel. No sign on the door. Please get a big sign that says "stairs" and put them on the stair doors. Please. For us dummies who don't want to die in a fire. Front staff were super nice; seemed like a family operation. WiFi kind of sucked, but that's par for the course. Free WiFi is a bonus and I *never* expect it to work well. I brought work with me and tried to use my hotspot but it also was super slow. Might have been the location of the room, as the last time we came, I had no problem and I was using an iPhone 4S. So, don't bring work to the beach. We will be back again soon!!! read more

I'm editing my original post b/c at the time of my original review I was still upset. Waters Edge has a great staff under their belt. The employees that clean the rooms and manage the property do the best with what they have to work with. You will find the most common complaint revolve around the beds. For $15 you can buy a bed pillow topper at Walmart and I highly recommend it. I personally had an issue with the WiFi not working. I spoke with a Spanish gentleman behind the desk and he informed me that it was a known issue with apple products. He told me to keep resetting the connection and it would possibly work again. Sadly this didn't happen. Air conditioning works beyond well. Biggest positive again was the staff. I had an issue with my refrigerator and in less then 3 minuets their was an employee their to fix it. Also my deadbolt didn't work and in a matter of minutes it got fixed. read more

Over all, not a bad place to stay. It's definitely a step up compared to other hotels in the area at the same price point. However I will say, that say, compared to Cape May, the hotels are not super-great in Wildwood. Maybe the area is striving for a retro-Miami Beach feel, but if you didn't know what year it was, you would be stuck in the 70s or 80s. With that said, the accommodations were pretty good- excellent housekeeping. Sheets are towels were very clean and the house keepers did a great job. Interior is a bit dated and some rooms could use an overhaul, however, I think that is the norm down here. The only thing that really bothered me was the smoking. If you smoke, this is your paradise. Even the non-smoking rooms were obviously used by smokers. They may be smoking on their balcony, but then they go into their non smoking rooms where the smell gets into the interior. Relaxing on the deck I could rarely get a breath of air not smoke-filled. I'm not a snob, but I have never been in a place where more people smoked than didn't. The area where the pool table is clearly states no smoking, but it seems management looks the other way, which is a shame. Parking is tight and sometimes rough, but if you keep at it you will eventually find a spot. Lastly, there seems to be a generator or a/c unit that made a constant loud motor sound all night long, though this could have just been outside our room. I liked how it was far enough but still close enough to the boardwalk. Even though its "right on the beach" the shore line is far, perhaps even 200 yards or more. Not a drawback to me, but some people might not prefer that. There is a place to bbq which is a plus, and it was definitely being used. The deck over looking the pool makes a nice informal gathering place for a few drinks. And while you might be able to do a bit better (The Lamplighter further down in Wildwood Crest), it will cost you more, and you definitely could do a lot worse. read more

Stayed here recently and we found the staff to be super friendly. Plenty of towels and the rooms where fitted with modern appliances. Though the room was a bit smaller than we would of like it still worked out for us. There is a pool with a kiddie pool attached and place is right on the beach and two very short blocks to the boardwalk. read more

The best part of this hotel is its location and views. On the beach and steps away from the boardwalk/tram. Did not need a car for the entire trip. The hotel itself was average. The rooms need updating; toilet seat chipped, couch was stained, screen door rusted and cracked. Walkways throughout the hotel were tight and awkward. Verrrrryyyyyyy sloooooowwww elevator. Pool is small and crowded. Although you are not allowed to smoke at the pool there is still lots of smoking going on just outside the gate. Room service left much to be desired. Tables and dressers were not wiped down. There was sand and crumbs on the furniture that was never cleaned. They also refuse to clean any dirty dishes/cups left in the sink. But I was willing to overlook much of my disappointments because we did not spend much time in the hotel read more
