The inside is really nice and feels like it has a lot of potential, but we don't go to restaurants just for ambience. The service was subpar at best, our server only came to take our order and deliver our food. No refills were offered and just felt like cold service, didn't feel welcome at all. Food always terrific. Many yummy options. Large dining room, several booth, helpful servers and they take reservations. The bar has small seating area. It is a little loud when the place is full. The location is in mid-town (a chuckle here) Holland. Parking on the street is easy, parking also available behind restaurant. They have good open hours and get lunch & dinner business. Shop, dine, go to the movies! Walk the wonderful downtown, window shopping. Sidewalks & streets are snow & ice free...integrated snow melt beneath a lot of the entire downtown! My wife and my new favorite date night spot. Incredible service, thoughtful menu, and delicious food at reasonable prices. From the very beginning of our interaction with the host to the waiter it was an excellent service experience. They made sure we were seated at a table that was shaded, had helpful menu suggestions and really made the dinner special. I ordered the traditional Gyro and loved it. Perfect location, after shopping around this is very convenient right in downtown. We got the perfect table as well, if it's available I'd highly recommend asking for the window table, it's the only one! The rest of the place is kind of dark. Service was fairly fast, our server was nice and friendly, gave us some recommendations as well. The pretzel appetizer was very good, quite salty but we shook the salt off and dipped it in the cheese. We tried the pork dish and chicken piccata pasta, and both were very good. The pasta dish wasn't what we expected but still very good, not your typical chicken piccata. I'd recommend the place for sure, their menu is pretty big lots to pick from. read more

I was genuinely excited to try Waverly Stone because cooking in beef tallow is rare and the idea of a proper smash burger with tallow cooked, clean ingredient side options sounded perfect. My wife and I have been hunting for a place like this for years. We've now eaten here twice and both times the "smash" burger was anything but. The patties are extremely thick, nowhere near the thin, lacy-edged, crispy smash burger people expect when they see that name on the menu. I called after our second visit and the staff member I spoke to said this is a "very common complaint". I get that they might just prefer a thicker patty, but if that's the case, call it something else (double cheeseburger, tavern burger, whatever). Labeling it a smash burger is misleading and it's turning away customers who specifically come for that style. Despite that, the burger just really just isn't very good (4/10) at best. If the smash burger was actually smashed (thin, crispy edges), we'd easily be in here two or three times a week. We live close and want to support you. Right now we can't. Hope this feedback makes it to the owner and the burger gets fixed. We'd love to become regulars. read more

I was at the sidewalk sales in downtown Holland and I thought I'd stop for lunch. The Waverly Stone Gastropub is right in the middle of it all, right on 8th street. When I walked in, I was asked if I would like to dine inside or outside on their little sidewalk area. There didn't seem like a lot of space left, so I chose inside. Inside was a charming, middle sized restaurant. They had a great selection of drinks, one of them caught my eye. I chose the downtown farmer's cocktail which was a tart cherry flavored drink that was quite refreshing. And I settled on chicken piccata. Whenever I see chicken piccata on the menu I have to try it. The dish was not the best I've had but it rated probably second best. The flavors were well balanced, but didn't have a richness I had come to expect with butter and lemon flavors prominent. On the menu it seemed like there was something for everyone. There were starters, sandwiches, salads, main entrees, and deserts. There were some really good things in each category and were it not for the chicken piccata, I would have had a hard time deciding. The service was perfect. My waiter was prompt and checked on me just the right amount of time without overwhelming me. Over all I definitely would eat here again, and it is an excellent place to eat while downtown. read more

Had a traditional gyro. Looked great. Too big for me to pick up and eat though. I had to eat it with a knife and fork. The gyro was dry. I had to wave to waitress to ask for some sauce. It was thicker than mayo but with less flavor. What was odd was that I was really hungry because I missed breakfast and gyro was still tasteless. I will not be back. read more

Going to be honest....had a gift certificate for over a year for this establishment. We agreed time to go. What a lovely surprise! The menu was totally revamped ~ amazing Mediterranean options now. Started with the Mushroom Ravioli app. Flipping fantastic! Almost licked the plate. Then moved into the farro bowl. I added shrimp to mine. Really tasty. I love a flavorful healthy bowl. Hubby had the chicken shawarma. We kept swapping plates so we could have both. Finished with the Cherry ganache tart. Place has a fun, fresh vibe. Very attentive staff. Since I had dog in-tow I sat on the patio and people watched so I can't comment on the indoor dining, but outside was lovely. They even brought Freckles a water bowl, super thoughtful!
