This tiny little deli knows what they are doing and they do everything exceptionally well. During our stay we had the following: Breakfast sandwich with bacon - the art of a hard fried egg is perfected here Wake and Bake burrito - everything including the kitchen sink. Perfection in a tortilla and more than any of us could The Big Stanley - they were out of the Italian bread after a crazy Saturday, so we ordered it on wheat. It must have had an entire pound of meat, packed with flavor and super fresh. Steak Burrito - just like the wake and bake, packed with more ingredients than I care to list, but also tasty. The steak was well seasoned and all of the toppings were fresh and packed with flavor themselves. Fries - not an afterthought, some of the best I've ever had. Basically went here every day on vacation for groceries or food from the deli. You can't beat the prices for anything in that store! Food is definitely worth the wait and freshly made. I ordered one of the more simple sandwiches and it was amazing!PACKED with meat and cheese! The daily specials are so creative and delicious. The daily menu too! Every time we're in town we have to visit several times!

We are local and love the burritos, especially the guacamole. So why the three stars? The sandwiches lately have really fallen short. It's basically boars head meat on stale bread. Last week we had the Italian stallion and aside from being loaded with meat, there was just nothing to make the sandwich flavorful at all. The worst, though, was Granny Peggy, which was nothing more than a bunch of turkey with two tiny half apple slices and if there was brie on there, I could not taste it. The alioli had no flavor. The dry bread was not fresh and crumbled off when you took a bite. For 10 bucks I am expecting more. The order and register staff are professional and super friendly. They are lucky to have them. FYI: Be on the lookout for a service charge if you use a credit card. read more

As usual we were not disappointed this year. Loved all the food we got and tried a new sandwich which was really good. Rental house did not have a corkscrew and couldn't find one anywhere so we ran to the deli to check and of course they have them so that problem was solved and they also had the wine I'd been trying to find that other locations in town didn't have. I'm not sure who we spoke to but it was October 19th right around noon and she was so incredibly friendly which we definitely appreciate. Being tourist we can get some negative welcomes but she was so nice and we thank her for that. read more

Excellent hearty sandwiches at a fair price! In our short visit to the outer banks, this shop quickly became our favorite. We stopped in for a few quick items and ended up trying the sandwiches. We were hooked. I had the Granny Peggy, a huge helping of turkey, brie, apples and a delicious red pepper aioli. My other half got the Ron Swanson, an appropriately named roast beef and cheddar, piled high with tender meat. They use Boars Head meats and cheeses, which is always a winner in my book... Tasty and less fillers. The cold sandwiches were perfect for staying in the cooler on a trek to the beach. I also picked up some fresh fruit (avocados! Hard to find without a drive down here!), some classic candy (big league chew, giant pez, dots, etc) and a $.50 pirate eye patch for my nephew. Made his night! On our way back home, we made sure to stop and get a famous breakfast burrito (wake and bake) which was soft, huge, and stuffed full of a little bit of everything breakfast in a perfect mix with just a hint of spice from the chipotle sauce. We were in heaven. Also grabbed two more sammys for the cooler (told you we loved them!) The Zack Morris (divinely delicious chicken salad) and the Mr Hermann (reuben... without kraut per my request). Again, all delicious. To boot, the staff was super friendly and they had some nice local art in the walls for sale. Grocery wise, they fill the gap of other local stores, providing more unique or trendy items us city dwellers are more accustomed to seeing. I wish the waves market well and hope to see them year after year! read more

Awesome and cheap! Literally everything is good here! So glad I stopped here on my way passing through. No place to sit which is kind of a bummer. But there's a couple benches and a gazebo nearby where you could sit down if you really wanted to. I would recommend ordering ahead of time. That's what a lot of people tended to do making wait times longer for those who just showed up without ordering ahead. Would be nice to just pick it up and go. read more

Waves is awesome! Family vacations can be an absolute s$@t show, especially extended family all staying in one house. My wife and I stopped in looking for food at 8:45 one evening and they didn't bat an eye, they got some great food together for us. It was so good.
