Popped into this place while in town on vacation and was so pleasantly surprised, it became a staple store while we were around. Traveling as a vegan can be tough, especially while going to smaller towns but this place had grocery options as well and made to order. Lots of things in the store. We went here several times during our stay. The sandwich's were the best. Called in the order and wham.....ready in 15 minutes. A bit overpriced, but that's what happens here in the OBX. Some sort of cheese dip or cheese spread in the deli was a hit with everyone in our group. Staff are always very friendly, service is quick, especially considering how many people go there at any given time. It's very casual so it's perfect for going to straight from the beach. Waves Market is a really nice store and deli for your basic needs, with plenty of other things like organic produce, a gigantic beer selection and Boars Head. Cousin Louie "chicken, provolone, lettuce, tomato, pesto mayonnaise on a Kaiser roll". The sandwich was delicious; I especially liked the pesto mayonnaise. BLT was ok, pretty standard. During my visit, the register was down and we were informed it would be 30mins wait. It ended up being a bit over an hour wait. Before it was fixed, it took a while for the cashier to decide to take cash. At first, no change would be offered. After 10-15mins, that's when cashier offered changes. It's not their fault the register malfunction, but they could've started the cash only ASAP. read more

Waves Market & Deli is the best place to shop if you're within a 20 mile radius of the place. Forget the other little shops, THIS is the place. Great beer selection, Boars Head deli meat, and one of the best damn breakfast burritos I've ever had in my whole life. Holy God the "Wake and Bake" is one step under heaven. It was better than I ever dared dream. I don't think I could personally make something better than this thing. Sadly, going back a few days later, it wasn't nearly as good. I guess it was a different cook. It's still delicious but the excellence of it will vary greatly depending on who is making it. Also, the lack of hustle in this place is annoying. They look at me like I'm some tourist a$$hole. Get bent you $hit bird stoner. Just make the fu**ing burritos and hurry the f**k up. I don't know why it takes so fu**ing long. Over 20 minutes to make a burrito? Maybe you can use the powers of speech and let me know "it'll be right up" or invent your own phrase to show some basic G*d damn courtesy and good manners. Don't just stare at me with a dumb look on your face. Half the population of Virginia visits the OBX of North Carolina so show some "local respect" to us that are a mere 4 hours away. True we *may* be tourists in the technical sense, but we are your northern neighbor and if not for US throwing my hard earned money your way, you would cease to exist. OBX exists because of tourism. Notice to all: there is no public restroom here! And the customer service from the lady behind the counter is worse than horrible. That's right, you can drop a $100 here in food and they won't let you use the facility, not even for kids. Last week I stopped in on the way out of town. Traffic was backed up and I was going to grab some snacks for the family as we ventured back into traffic. While shopping, my preschool aged child says, "Daddy, I have to go potty". The lady behind the counter was extremely rude, and refused to let my kid use the potty. I get it if you don't want me to use your bathroom, but a small child can't wait. When you are that exceptionally cold hearted to my kid, I won't support your business. I put the snacks back and left. read more
