Finally getting to try out Wavez!
    Nellie F.

Hawaiian food in LC! I remember chasing Wavez when they had the food truck, but they would always sell out and be gone before I could get there. Now they have a permanent location and we couldn't be happier. Everything is great! There is no other way to say it. I wish they had more on the menu, but you cannot go wrong with anything you choose to eat from this establishment. It's refreshing to be able to get a small taste of home in this small desert city.

Food is great! Good variety , place is always busy! But you get your food pretty fast! Becoming a popular place to eat

    8 small bites of chicken

First of all, there's no doubt, the food is delicious. However, the portions are tiny, and expensive. The simplest, cheapest bowl is the chicken with a sticky rice or cajun rice base, and it is 9.99. The bowl it comes in is about 3" square. I would say there were about 8 small bites of chicken in it. If you got the same size bowl of the short ribs, you get two 3" ribs that are 1/8" (about the width of the container rim) x 1/2" wide, and a tiny 2" one. Not even enough to feed a mouse. and it's $4 more than the chicken. On a good note, the owners are super nice, and really want to please their customers. They will go out of their way for you. Hopefully, once they get settled, they'll raise their portions to an actual meal instead of mouse portions. I mean, it's good, but wow, not for the amount that you get for the price you pay.

Aloha chicken with the Hawaiian rice next to this is the guava cake! You can either eat your food there or take it home :)

I have been going to waves for a while, and they are beyond the nicest people I've ever met. The food there is made freshly an atmosphere is very welcoming. There are aloha chicken bring smokiness and their Katsu chicken brings sweetness and they are both so good! The rice is seasoned well (I like the Hawaiian rice) and I never have complaints! Give them a try and their guava cakes are very good also! :)

    Katsu and grilled chicken

The food is very delicious. I ordered Grilled chicken and katsu. They are really tender and delicious. But the portion is too small for the price. It is like middle school student portion. The employees are very nice and friendly. More importantly they do offer Military and first responders discount. Happy hour menus available as well. Apart from portion everything is nice and delicious.

One of my new favorite spots! I've came here at least once a week since they've opened! The Hawaiian rice with katsu is my favorite! The service is fast and I love that they have a rewards system!

First time here and it's amazing! My wife had the katsu chicken sandwich and I had their signature bowl with two sides ooh so amazing. Very welcoming and feels like mom's cooking.

This updated review is brought to you in part by, "first impressions aren't always necessarily the…read morelasting impressions". Since the original inception of this place and our initial discovery, something has been wavering just a bit. The consistency. Ultimately, the food still tastes as great as it did the first time we ever ordered it. However, there have been a number of inconsistencies in their execution. But to name a few, there's things like.. Lack of white sauce, too much white sauce, too much spice, forgotten proteins, inexplicably missing rice, half a lobster tail's meat sticking to the shell whilst the other half breaks off with ease.. ...and SO on. At this point, it's safe to say I have mixed feelings about this place. I still LOVE their seafood. I'm just irritated by their inconsistent execution, depending on what day it is, who's working, or how many people even decided to show up to work that day. I know this probably sounds like a negative review. But let me sum this up with the following: the food is still awesome, but the execution needs some touching up. And it is with this rationale that I must update my original review from 5 stars...to 4. Still highly recommend them. But....proceed with the aforementioned caveats. In other words, check your food before you depart the building. If you want to read about why the food is so good, check out my first review of this place. Thank you.

One young lady, I imagine she was the hostess, made a displeased face when we walked in, sighed visibly and trotted over to greet us and seat us at a table. Terrible first impression, I have to say. Our server, Trey (hope I spelled it right) was nice, professional, knowledgeable and overall a pleasure. I guess he made the experience more bearable, but not by much. We ordered some appetizers (mozzarella stick, chips and queso, hush puppies and shrimp) that were good. The main dish, the crab fried rice, touted fresh crab in its description. I don't expect the crab to move in my plate to prove it is fresh, but whatever was put on top of the fried rice was not crab, by any definition I have encountered. It seem it was leftover scraped crab from the day's cleaning of the shells, combined with too much pepper. WAY TOO much. The fried rice wasn't any better, could not eat much of it. The onions that were cut with an axe were the proverbial onion on your fried rice. I believe that when restaurants have something to hide, they will over season the food, so the customer can't tell it was not fresh. Very disappointed. This place is not sure what it wants to be : seafood, Southern Louisiana, Korean, Japanese or Chinese. They should pick a theme and stick with it. It's expensive for the quality of the food. Won't be back, and don't recommend.
