I came to Yelp as usual to check reviews and saw that Angelika was mentioned so I went with her. Overly glad I did. I've been getting waxed for over 5 yrs (definitely longer) and she made it painless than I have ever experienced. When ever I come back home I will be looking for her. I go here because of its location, but word to the wise, build in 15 minutes because your appointment will start at least 15 minutes late. EVERY. TIME. And they won't care. I have seen customers having meltdowns in the waiting area because they did not know this - any why should they be expected to? I came in on a weekday for a wax. The staff was very welcoming from the moment I walked in. The lobby itself was very clean and taken care of. After arriving I filled out a few forms and was quickly welcoming into my room. Similarly to the lobby, the waxing rooms were neat, clean and welcoming. The staff informed me of how to get read and were very conversational. During the wax itself I felt reassured and was also taught a few tips during my appointment. I had a slight gripe on my first review but I have honestly not saw that young lady at the front desk anymore. They still use some of the softest wax that I've felt. The studio is clean, beautiful and spacious. It's less of a waxing studio and more of an 'experience'. The lobby area has a shop with lots of different skin and makeup products and there is a really cute photo booth and charging station. The staff is sweet and friendly and greets you with a smile. They also have complimentary water bottles and the lobby smells incredible. Now, on to the wax-- I had an event here and then came in for a wax a few weeks later. The waxing was quick and painless and my eyebrows came out looking great. It's been a week and the clean look and shape has held up very well. An eyebrow waxing is pricer than something you'll find at a nail salon (21$) but they put way more care and detail into the waxing. They also do a much better job of shaping the brow. After COVID and gaining weight, I was struggling and just plain tired of having to shave myself and decided to come here. My very first appointment was with Vanessa and she made me feel at ease, was so gentle and caring and made me feel good walking out. 3 months I booked another appointment again but I found out Vanessa was on Maternity Leave so they booked me with Angelika. I came to Waxing The City for the Elite event this past weekend and I have to say that this was one of the best experiences I've ever had waxing. The facility itself is super clean. Everyone was super friendly. When I entered my waxing room, I loved how comfortable I felt when walking in. Alyssa my waxing specialist explained the type of wax they use in their facility. She expressed how it is hard wax but they apply smaller strips so the hair will take longer to grow especially when you apply it the way the hair is growing. It was honestly the most painless waxing I've ever had. I wish this location was closer to me because I would be going here all the time. I actually had the opportunity to speak with the owner during the event. He was one of the nicest people I've ever met. I wish I could leave 10 stars. Brenda is one of the best best best Brazillian Bikini waxers I ever had in my life. I have really sensitive skin (i.e. typically I bleed after most waxes, ingrown hairs galore). She is one of the few waxers that- I write this 3 weeks post wax-- not an ingrown hair. I have walked by this salon a couple of times but never went in until post quarantine. This place is absolutely beautiful, as soon as you walk in they greet you and check your temperature. The salon is beautiful and very well kept, they offer mnay options for purchase so you can keep up with aftercare. Enza did a good job with my brow shaping. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the price, I think $25 is a lot to get your eyebrows wax and plucked especially when I'm used to paying $7 to get them threaded in NYC. For the first time, I'm actually excited to write a review. I just had the most amazing wax experience.. EVER! Alyssa was sweet, meticulous, and funny! Everyone is right - the place is so cute + very clean! I went in as a walk in around 3pm and was able to be seen immediately. Danielle was very sweet and personable. The wax itself was good - a few missed hairs but no big deal. It was also a lot less painful than I was expected/had experienced at other places in the past. I must say my first visit today was a five star experience from beginning to end. I was recommended by my sister to try Waxing The City about a month ago and finally decided to give it a try. Upon walking in, I was greeted by the manager immediately and offered a bottle of water. He checked me in and I was seen by Michelle right away. I had my eyebrows done here yesterday and it was a very pleasant experience. The place is clean and well-organized; people here are very professional and friendly. I will definitely go back in the future. One thing I really liked about this place, and I think everyone should take advantage of, is that there is a public parking garage right behind the business. It just makes things so so much easier (parking down on the Bloomfield Ave can be a nightmare)! The garage usually charges for parking but not if you get service from here. Just let them know you park at the garage and they will give you a voucher so you can leave the garage free of charge (3 hours max.). read more

I walked by this place last night and had to stop in because it was so cute and smelled really nice. I had hoped they could take me as a walk in for an eyebrow wax but they were closing soon. I went online and made an appointment for the next day which was super easy to do. I decided that it seemed like the kind of place where if I got a brazilian wax that it could not he as traumatizing as my first experience years ago. Michelle made me feel at ease and my nerves quickly went away. The facial / eyebrow wax was virtually painless. I cannot say the same for the vietnamese nail salons I often have this service at.
