It's so clean, the employees were more than friendly and kind (think Chick fil A nice). They were so helpful and accommodating when we needed to mix things up with one of the menu items for our daughter. The food came out quickly, hot and was super tasty. I was actually impressed! First time customers that will definitely return! From the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out, our dining experience was wonderful. Not a fast food burger joint, but a nice sit down spot to enjoy a freshly made burger. Service was incredible, restaurant was clean and tidy. Burgers were juicy, well prepared, and full of flavor. I visited this place recently and I was disgusted, when I walked in there was Indian music blasting in the restaurant. My food was really average, non toasted bun, tiny white onions, and non seasoned beef. The guy who delivered my food was outside smoking 10 minutes before bringing my food. The place was really dirty from all of the tables to the tray my food was served on(even with a paper tray it had tried chili on it), I was there when they opened and the bathroom was disgusting as well! First time to a Wayback burger. The location is clean and nice... The food was OK. We tried several different things... But the only thing that we really thought stood out was the red velvet milkshake. I did not love the A1 steakhouse burger... Probably should've ordered a different kind of burger. It just sounded different. But then I remembered that I'm not in love with a 1... So my bad. The chili cheese hotdog tasted like one I made in my kitchen. With Wolf branch chili... Nothing to write home about. The Buffalo chicken sandwich was OK... But my wife ordered grilled instead of crispy. Lesson learned... Get the crispy so that you hold the flavor. You need to pay attention to a discount coupon from here. Our bad as we went to one in Frisco but coupon was for Allen location. All's well as we had a good meal. We both got their signature burger but asked they put the second patty in to-go box. Two patties is too much for our tummy. Which they were happy to help. Also we got the regular order of tater tots which was plenty for two. The bun was nice and soft and not too big. 2nd time visiting here, place still very clean w friendly franchisee manager on-site. Based on prior experience we remembered to ask for extra seasoning which we feel is needed. As others note the onion rings my wife ordered weren't as crisp as expected, making them a bit greasy. Fries were fine but again, needed more salt. Here is something I never say -- I couldn't finish the food. It was too much for me and that's saying a lot. Really good hot dog, onion rings and fries. Came here after reading the reviews. The menu pictures that yelpers uploaded from 3 years ago are far outdated. Wayback doesn't have these items anymore. We asked the cashier about offering the old fries and onion ring mixed side option and she made the executive decision that they do not have that. She made no effort to ask a manager. My hub and I ended up ordering combo sides, one with fresh cut fries and a drink and the other one with onion rings and a drink. The onion rings could have cooked a bit longer and needed to be seasoned. The bourbon burger I ordered came with an onion ring . By the time my burger was delivered to the table, the onion ring was soggy. The top bun was slathered with their bourbon mustard with the onion rimg sitting under it. I took the onion ring off, yuck. The bourbon mustard is Dijon based. Unfortunately, it overpowered the underseasoned burger. The bacon was thick, but very hard to chew. My hub got the A1 burger and didn't enjoy it. Said the Swiss didn't work with the A1 sauce. The bottom bun of his $10 burger was soggy. I did get the $5 fries and drink combo...but upgraded my drink for a milkshake for an extra couple of dollars. Nothing special about the ice cream. Sad experience. I hate to say this but this place is just not good for the following reasons: 1) slow service. It took us 20 mins to get our burgers. That is just unheard of. Looking at other reviews it seems to be a systemic issue. 2) nail salon next door: the ventilation system of the building must be a health hazard. As your ordering at the register, all you can smell are the chemicals of the nail salon. How much of this is being breathed by the workers, patrons, or the being deposited on the food being consumed? 3) burger: the cost $10-$15 and they're really just bland. First, probably needed more salt on the burger. Second, there was no searing on the meat to draw out the flavors. Thankfully, I had a coupon and paid $5 for their burger. Yes, it's better than the garbage McDonald's burger. But, for the price, I'd rather go to hat creek or any other place within a 2 mile radius. read more

Today we visited Wayback Burger in Allen, hoping to find a new burger joint that we can enjoy when craving a good beef patty sandwich. Upon entering, I was immediately struck by the cleanliness of the dining area, and the professional presentation of their menu items. Not yet aware that this is a national franchise, I was hoping not to encounter one of the small Ma and Pa eateries giving off the "going out of business" vibe. First impressions were great and were quickly followed by a smiling and friendly employee eager to be helpful with our order. I ordered the double bacon cheese burger with onion rings, and my son ordered the A-1 Steakhouse burger. The food was cooked to order and arrived at our table quickly. Looking good! The burgers were steaming hot from the grill with melting cheese dripping down the two patties. Fixins were piled on in an appropriate quantity, balancing perfectly with the beef. As I took my first bite I was immediately struck by the cold crisp nature of the veggies. As odd as that sounds, it was a nice accent to the heat of the burger and enforced the freshness of the tomato, lettuce, pickles, and onions. The beef was both juicy and flavorful. In all, it was a very good burger and I was delighted to devour it quickly. My son was equally impressed with his A-1 Steakhouse burger, only wishing that it had been adorned with a little greater quantity of the fried crispy onions to enhance the crunch. While addressing onions, I should mention that the onion ring side order was somewhat mundane. Slightly undercooked and lacking the crispness that makes a fine onion ring sing and bite trough easily. Here, I was a bit disappointed as I pulled the somewhat greasy limp onion from its breading. I would encourage Wayback to spend a little time one day perfecting the cooking of the rings and experimenting with some seasoning to enhance the flavor. In all, I felt the value of meal was good when judging the quality for the price paid. Given the friendliness of the staff, the wonderfully clean surroundings, and excellent burgers, I would highly recommend that you check out Wayback Burger and see if you will be finding your way back to this establishment time and again as I am sure we will. It definately makes our short list of restaurants worthy of ongoing patronage. read more

I can't believe this place is still in business as of August 2024. When they first opened, they were very friendly, the food was good, not great, but good, and they were a little on the pricey side, which you expect from a specialty burger place. The last time we went, the food was terrible, my Wife ended up in the bathroom for the evening! The place was empty too, that should have told us something right there.
