I've been here twice. First when they opened. Had a bad experience. Waited 40 mins for our food. It was bad, over priced, manager was rude. No compensation for such an inconvenience. We chalked it up to being a newly open business working out the "kinks". Thought I'd give it another chance. Walked in. No other customers were in there. My order was two burgers, fries, one milkshake, one diet pop . There's were 8 employees!!!! It took 15 mins! Then they brought my food out w/ no drinks! I had to remind them about the drinks and wait for them to make the milkshake and pop. The service is so slow and it appears no one knows how to work there. But wait! It get worse. While I was waiting for what seemed like an eternity for an order I could've received in 5 mins across the street at McDonald's for 1/2 the cost. I used the restroom. Holy crap! Now, I don't claim to be the cleanest person in the world. But a certain level of cleanliness is to be expected at a place that serves you food. This restroom seriously looked like it hasn't been cleaned since it opened! If this is how they clean their place I can only imagine their sanitation practices are sub par w/ food handling. I seriously considered not eating my food. However, I was so hungry I decided to take my life into my own hands and rolled the dice. Here's to not dying tonight. Save your MONEY, save your TIME, save your HEALTH! You'd be safer eating out of the dumpster "outback" ... haha " Do you see what I did there". Lastly, I gentleman walked in whom I can only assume was an owner or manger. I say this only bc he spoke to the staff in a way only someone in a management position would. Asking questions, and giving direction. He went into the restroom and I thought "thank god, he's going to come out of that cesspool and make someone clean it immediately!!!"..... NOPE! Walked out like nothing is wrong. His appearance and attire was " disheveled " at best! Idk about you but if that was my workplace / investment I would want to be seen in a professional manner. Not like a Homeless man who crawled out of a dumpster outback ! Then he proceeded to touch his dirty feet right in dining area!!! Went to Wayback and had a bad experience. The young man was taking our order when someone walks in and asks for the Door Dash order. The young man walked away from us without a word and was gone for awhile. We walked out before he came back. That is not a way to treat a customer in the middle of placing an order. I will not be back there again. I would have gave it zero stars as we didn't even get a canctaste the food. read more

Store didn't help me when I arrived for an uber pickup, so I went to the restroom instead of standing around. When I got out, noone still helped me until I spoke up. Apparently they threw the order away bc they closed at 9:00. At 9:02, they tell me they can't remake it because the stove is shut down... customer wasted his money and store wasted the food. read more

I originally had a good review but removed it because the place went to shit. I was the only one in the store and waited 25 minutes for a burger fry and shake, that's all I ordered! The girl at the register bright (orange hair) seemed like she was on something, symptoms of Xanax or percs. The food was done in about 15-18 minutes for 1 burger and fry. And then the zombie girl spent an additional 10 mins just mixing the shake she just stood there and held it for 10mins barely being coherent and the shake ended up super watery! Wtf I work at a burger place that's similar there's no reason any of that should of taken that long that order I can make in 5 mins tops. All I gotta say is WTF....... read more

I stopped in for the first time today for lunch. After walking in and seeing all the tables full and several people waiting for food I thought "well it's got to be good". I ordered a single burger patty with fries and a drink. It's a combo listed on the menu board. As I waited with several others for my food (I ordered it To Go since there was limited available seating) you can see into the kitchen and prep area. It was chaotic due to the 'lunch rush'. There were quite a few people making food but there seemed to be not enough area to package or wrap the food since they were constantly looking for the food tickets to see what went into what bag since they were wrapping burgers on top of the tickets. One customer came back in while I waited because he received the wrong burger. There seemed to be a bit of wasted space at the end of the order counter that could've been converted into the order packaging station and get that out of the kitchen. The burger was good. The fries were soaked in oil and under cooked. This is likely because the kitchen was overwhelmed with orders when I was there and was rushing food out of the fryer. The restaurant was clean and tidy, the staff was upbeat too. I'd say Burger Fresh in Brecksville (just East if this location) has better food but there's a few more seats to eat inside at Wayback. It's worth a try to develop your own opinion. read more

I just had my second burger here in a week and am disappointed in the consistency of the place. The first burger - last Thursday- was fabulous..hot, juicy and flavorful with the right combination of condiments, meat and bun. I couldn't wait to go back! But wait is what I should have done. Today's burger was barely warm, dry and lacking flavor. It was obviously cooked in advance-which is really unbelievable since at 5:30 there was no one in the place and the employees were standing around and chatting with each other. I may or may not try it again but if this is the way this place is going to be operated I'll just go down the street to Mickey D's where dried out hamburgers are their specialty. read more

Ordered twice, once in store, and just now using their app. If you like to randomize what you get on your burger as compared to what you ordered, Wayback is for you! I ordered using the app so there could be no question about what we wanted on our burgers. Still screwed up. Not even close. Wayback must be so far back that it's before the written word and reading comprehension. Very disappointing for a place that prides itself on custom burgers. Burger King isn't as good, but they get it right every time. The best part is when you call to complain, you get the old "leave a message" voice mail. Tried Wayback Burgers yesterday on a whim when my daughter and I were looking for a quick dinner for take-out. What a disappointment. Ordered on the app @ 4:55 pm for a pick-up at 5:15 pm. When we arrived at 5:10, I should have known what I was in for when only ONE customer was sitting in the restaurant. Our order was ready when we walked through the door, 5 minutes earlier that we requested, which did not give me high hopes that it was actually still warm, as the grill was barren and it appeared my food was prepared the moment they received the order. Anyway, paid for the food and drove home. Opened the bag to discover both of our burger orders were incorrectly prepared, with toppings we never asked for and, omitting toppings we requested, both were cold and tasteless. "housemade" chips were greasy and flavorless. My daughters shake was the highlight of the meal, and it was only average. All this for only $28. I could have done better at Wendys for probably 1/2 the cost. Awful. Never again. No-Way Back Burger. This place will be closed inside 3 months.... read more

Ridiculous wait time. At least 6 people waiting for orders on a Saturday night. This is the second time this has happened to me. The front clerk was trying to make a million shakes and completely stopped taking any orders. More importantly, one of the ladies cooking took her gloved hand and wiped the sweat off her face and then wiped into her hair, then proceeded to pick up food with the same gloved hand. I will not be back. I doubt this restaurant will last in this area if it continues the way it's going. read more

Overall- chicken fingers were ok (raising canes' are better). Tater tot's were OK. Mac & cheese bites were gross. Oreo mint shake was AMAZING. There seems to be no designated spot to pick up online orders which is causing them problems. I had to wait behind a son and father who were obviously not ready to order. No one asked me to step up- my order was pre-paid so anyone could've grabbed it so my prepared order literally just sat there and got cold because there was no one on the register at first and when they did come up I had to wait for the two guys to order who took a long time to decide. Either get a second cashier or choose a designated area for pick up orders. Packaging on takeout was very weird. They gave me a large handle bag that was open which was very frustrating because all the food was cold by the time I got it. Also rather than an actual to go box for hot items they instead used deli trays (not even any liners to absorb the grease!)- thin flimsy open trays that further hurt the food quality because there's no way that it would stay hot in those trays... those are portioning trays, not to go packaging. Looks like the fryer needed to be skimmed because I got more than my fair share of black burnt crumbles with my food. Decor was nice. Overall service was not friendly. In fact the McDonald's across the street gives much better service which is pretty crazy because it's a McDonald's. I will go back for the shake but that's about it! Chicken fingers, tots, Mac and cheese bites and a shake was $17.... my food should be hot for that much and in a darn box not open portion tray getting cold. read more

I am not sure what was more disappointing - the quality of the food that did arrive or their inability and refusal to fix a simple mistake on a burger they did produce. I recently ordered a basic hamburger with lettuce and bacon only. After it arrived with everything under the sun (and no lettuce) I politely called them to let them know their mistake. The staff was extremely rude, claimed I ordered something I didnt and when I produced the image on my phone to reaffirm I was in the right they admitted their mistake. The staff including the chef then attempted to double talk and claim they didnt make the mistake when they acknowledged the mistake 15 seconds earlier. They declined to offer a refund or deliver out a new burger. They actually seemed incapable of even understanding their mistake. When my wife showed them via dueling cell phones the issue with their menu (that for a basic burger you order the items you want on it) they claimed you have to select what you want and then physically type what you don't want even if you don't select the item to begin with. Again, I really want to reiterate the sheer rudeness of the staff member I spoke with on the phone. This is a place I've ordered from in the past and would NEVER order again and always dissuade anyone who would ever want to order from their establishment. Going forward I'd always order from Whitey's Booze and Burgers or even Burger King. I only wish there was a rating lower than 1 to offer. The experience was THAT disappointing. read more
