I am writing this to I was disappointed, craving a burger so bad but they got it all wrong. First of all the girl taking the order was rushing us when we were the only customers there, but she seemed new and a young guy behind her was walking her thru the order. Our Oder was to go, when we got home it was lettuce and beef patties, no tomatoes, we specify jalapeños and those were missing too. The chili was too greasy for my taste but my husband liked it. This restaurant's customer service is bad. I entered the order on DoorDash, drove there and still had to wait 10 mins. Also, milkshake was expensive for such a small portion and a small sprinkling of Oreos, when it was supposedly an Oreo shake. When I went back in to ask about it, the lady was way rude and made a smart remark because I asked. Then when I went to get a few napkins and a fork, same rude lady snapped at me for doing that. Clean restaurant. Walk in and order at the counter. Burger wasn't bad. Would have been nice if the bun was a bit more toasted. The cheese fries were very disappointing. I had to literally hunt to find fries with cheese on them. Lastly, the restaurant needs to have more people working during lunch...I shouldn't have to wait 20 minutes for my food at this type of restaurant. This place is terrible. This place should go way back to where they came from because they obviousy know nothing about fresh burgers. I have had some great burgers here in the dfw area and not from chain restaurants but this place shouldnt even be open. The things that makes a great burger are the fresh meat not frozen, sauces and bread. This place has no flavor in the meat I don't even think they put salt and pepper on the burger. The fries have no seasoning and are dry and hard. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and I won't be returning. I don't know how this place is surviving. Ordered delivery. 1st time eating here. Ordered the patty melt. HOLD the onions and thousand island dressing. Paid $5.49 for the sandwich which was SMOTHERED in onions and thousand island dressing. It was also child sized. Paid $2.49 for fries, which were stone cold and soggy. Sandwich was barely warm and not much flavor. You'd expect a patty melt to be on sourdough or rye. I've ordered Wayback Burger twice, both times through a delivery service. Each time my food arrived fresh and in a timely manner. The meat they serve is always good and the beef is always fresh and soft. I haven't had any problems with my order and they're always kind on the phone and answer any questions. I like trying new places, and this is a good find. I tried this place 5 times before writing a review. The meat patties are 100% fresh, lean and not greasy, and I'd bet they were never frozen because they are very flavorful. Fries also are right from potatoes, fresh taste, and in all my visits they were excellent. The burger bun tastes like a Hawaiian bun and complements the burger perfectly. Milkshakes are also made fresh, and remind me of the drive-in days of yesteryear. Another pleasant surprise is the Cod Sandwich, which has an actual piece of COD and not some flaked-and-formed-fish-puck. I love onion rings, and this place serves the classic style onion ring...large, sweet onion, perfect batter, and a generous amount of them. Food is served on a sterile wrapper, made to resemble old newsprint, on a metal plate. You order at the counter, and they bring the food to you. Staff members are very friendly, and the place has a good vibe, much like an old burger hangout. You should check it out. read more

I ordered a veggie burger with lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard, relish, and mushrooms and fries. The fries had no seasoning at all. The mushrooms were canned which is gross. And the only thing I could taste was mustard and relish. A little salt and pepper and it may taste better. I know there is difficulty with covid, so maybe that has something to do with it...not certain. I will try again, just to be fair. And I actually like fries with no salt so I'll give you that. read more

I've always been hesitant about trying new places, but I am so glad I gave them a chance. Our burgers were amazing. I loved the patties seasoning. They were pressed and cooked right in front of us, with good quality meat. It didn't taste like what i call "fake meat" that some fast food places offer. The toasted bread and the cheese ratio was like the cherry on top. The restaurant was nice and clean and the cashier was friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back! I ordered a bacon burger thru Uber Eats so I can't speak for the in-store experience. However, it was easily one of the BEST burgers I've had in a long time. The reviews I have seen for this place are by people who wanted a burger hand-delivered to them by GrubHub or uber eats. I am of the opinion that the best way to enjoy a burger is in the establishment where its the freshest and steam and other trapped molecules don't affect the taste/quality of the burger. Keep that in mind as you read these reviews I walked in, the staff was friendly and helpful. A little groggy after the post-lunch rush (which is to be expected, it is the food service industry). I've never been here before so I tried the classic burger (patty, cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard, and ketchup and pickles) I like to order this because it gives each burger place I try a fair chance when I review and assess the quality. I also ordered a regular fries and drink. The presentation was alright, the burger itself not so much. To be honest the quality of the beef was not very good and the patty was unseasoned. I would say its the same beef offered at Wendy's but at least at that place, there is flavor within the patty. As far as toppings, they were all fresh and tasted as they should. The fries were the highlight- the right amount of salt and fried to point where it was crunchy but there was some give to it. The bread used was the white fluffy kind of bun which is okay to use with certain kind of burgers, though it was incorrect for the type of burger they are trying to sell. Overall I left wayback burger full but unsatisfied. The price of the entire experience (about $13) certainly did not help. I am not a cheap person but I know I could have gotten more value had I went down royal lane and saw the In N Out burger or the Five Guys. I feel that they could tinker with a few things (if corporate lets them) and they could be a lot better. My recommendation is this: go if you want a new burger experience in Irving and make sure you keep an open mind. Don't avoid this place purely because of negative reviews, each person and day is different. There is a lot of room for improvement with this place and they have the ability to do it. read more

Today 3/619 my daughter and I ordered 2 classic wayback burgers both with no onions, no mustard, no pickles and bacon. When we make it back to the house we checked the order both orders had onions and mustard and the bacon was turkey bacon. I called to let the manager know that the orders were incorrect she starts yelling at me saying that is how the burger comes. I politely tell her that I ordered it without onions, pickles and mustard, she continues to yell at me, finally I hung up the phone. There is no professionalism there and the food isn't good at all. This is an average fast food type burger joint. Burger quality and taste were typical fast food level similar to McDonald's or Jack in the Box. Fries and onion rings were ok. Nothing about the food would make me want to return. Price was unusually high for a fast food place. For their prices, you could go to a real local burger restaurant like Stack House or Uncle Ubers and get a real burger made from locally sourced meat and produce that's actually tasty enough to warrant the cost. If you want an overpriced super low flavored mini burger, this is the place for you. My wife and I shared the double bacon burger. They give you four pieces of bacon that shrivels down to the size of two normal pieces. The two patties amounts to one shrunken patty. They have the nerve to charge $8.49'for the burger.
