Note this is a fast food burger joint - burgers are made well done no other way, therefore its fast food. I ordered the cheeseburger hero, its essentially a hoogie with 4 thin patties (really 2 thick patties) with chess between w/ let , tom, ket, mayo , onion- not bad , the patty is juicy but greasy probably a 35% fat ground beef again not bad, much better than five guys which is overcooked dried nastiness, the fries / onion ring platter is disappointing 4$ gets you a small cup of fries and 4 onion rings, what a tease! A single order is about $12 , kind of pricy especially for the area- nonetheless place is clean, staff is courteous and It was pleasant! read more

Nope. Never again. Dead store, took forever to take and make our order. And I'm not talking the "they're fresh, it takes a bit" type of time. I mean FOREVER. We ordered milkshakes, and they all tasted like bleach cleaner. Dumped them when we got home. Should have gone back and demanded money back but we were starving and figured the rest of our orders would be okay. Yeah, no. The burgers were boring, tasteless and an absolute mess. Never in a million years will I go back to Jake's. Would have been more satisfied with Burger King, and paid WAY less. read more

I don't usually go for fast food any more but received some coupons and decided to try it out when I was on the road all day. They make the BEST fast food Burgers that I have ever had!They use fresh meat and ingredients and they are cooked to perfection with fantastic flavor. I would recommend if you haven't tried them. read more

Food was fine, front cashier was very nice. When the gentleman who brought out our food was told they had made a mistake with my child's burger, he commented maybe there was another customer with my name. He then extended the receipt to show me how he was right and I was wrong. I explained that maybe he should show it to woman who took the order because that was where the error was. He then just stared at me. I finally said could you at least bring us the pickles? He was also loud and rude to other customers while we were eating. They need training in customer service and a new person to bring out the food. read more

What a ridicules place! Horrible service. Starts off with a dirty parking lot, dirty interior and then a 20 min wait for 2 fish sandwiches. Don't ever bother wasting your time here. read more

I mean.. It was "okay" I can't say that I'll be back. The burgers were nothing more special that you could get in a drive thru but more expensive. The menu looks delish, but the burgers come out looking frumpy and thrown together. The onion rings were super greasy and more batter than onion. The atmosphere was okay, looked clean and newish. I was just disappointed in the burgers, I was hoping it was a bit girthier and not something we could have put together at home. Especially since the restaurant specializes in burgers. I am a huge fan of burger joints and we have some great ones in the area. This place looks like it should be very good, but my lunch today said otherwise. I got the Carolina Jake burger (the burger of the month), fries, and a chocolate shake. We'll start with the good...the milkshake was very good and the small was definitely larger than the 12oz as advertised. Served solely in the stainless mixing cup which was a nice touch. They also serve Hooker beer on draft which is awesome. The fries were just okay, large cut and not much flavor. There was no seasoning at all...not even salt. They were definitely not very fresh either. That brings us to the burger...It was completely missing 3 of the 5 toppings that were advertised on the burger. The worst part was the beef patties...they were almost identical to those found on a McDouble. The amount of grease was more than most McDoubles as well. Bottom line...for a better "fast food" burger, Five Guys wins, or even G's burgers in Watertown. For a WAY better burger (that isn't soaked with grease) and a beer in Torrington, stop in at Backstage. read more

We were back at Wayback sunday evening. We really like to food when its good but its was a miss this time. They were out of onion rings and comp'd us w a large order of fries. But the burgers came out first and they were kinda dry...mediocre at best. I was so hungry that i could have easily finished my burger before the fries arrived. And it wasnt very busy. Really no excuse. You guys can do better. Please, Torrington needs a good burger place! read more

Burgers taste like the crap you get in a hospital vending machine or elementary school. And way overpriced for the quality. 5 guys or backstage is way better . Shakes are unique and pretty good , service is not bad either . read more

Excellent burgers. The fries and onion rings seem to be kept under heat lamps which really takes away from the quality, and yet they still seem to be better than anything else you find around torrington. I have tried the jake burger with bacon. The burger was excellent, and the bacon had a wonderful hickory flavor that is hard to find. If the fries and rings were made to order jakes would easily get five stars read more

Jake's is far better for you than McDonald's, Burger King or Wendy's but they take a long time to finish your order. The food tastes better than most fast food and the place is clean. Their milkshakes are especially good. read more

I have always heard of Jakes from friends of mine that live around the state, but we didn't have one close to where I live. I knew this one was here but I'm not in Torrington enough to remember it. I have been there twice now, both times have been great. I usually get the chicken sandwich with fries and a drink, you can't go wrong. We have also tried their mounds of fries (chili cheese to be exact) and those I can not get enough of. I like the fact that your food is cooked to order as well. They always get my order right and both times I have been there it has not been crowded as well, which is good. I've waited tops maybe 6 minutes for my food, in which case is not bad. My only gripe is they are semi-expensive. For two of us it's definitely more than a $25 bill given everything is seperate. The floor could use a good sweeping as it tends to get a little dirty with fallen fries and such but I can see how that could happen while shoveling the great food in your mouth! read more

The meat is tough..small pebbles of tough meat and gristle. Buns disappointing. Fries inedible cause so greasy.

Second time in a row that they mess up the takeout order. Both times it was not busy and the receipt printed the right info. It takes three employees to read one order ticket. Very slow and entirely unreliable. Burgers are okay but it is certainly frustrating to go there. Five guys is such a better burger and they get the orders right! read more

Have to amend my initial review. We stopped in for dinner Friday night, and probably would have had better service at Burger King..It's too bad, it really seems like they really don't care since they've been open for a while now. Hubby wanted a double bacon cheeseburger-they had NO bacon (they have a grocery store right next door,,lol)..How can a burger place have no bacon? We were told to sit and they would bring our meal out, well half way through the meal-I still don't have my chocolate shake-and the waitress is wiping tables around us as we eat...she made my shake but left it on the counter. She only stopped what she was doing when I walked up to the counter-she then came around and handed me my shake...weird-disjointed and inattentive service...will not be going back. At least 5 guys is consistent-even if I can't get a turkey burger. read more

This place did me dirty. I bought the wife and myself a burger, and drink, price wasn't too bad. I asked the lady at the counter if I could just buy 2 patties for my dog. That's it no bun no condiments etc. Well I paid the 24 plus dollar bill, not paying attention and she charged me 599 for the 2 patties. I should have asked the price but I figured they wouldn't beat me up too bad. If I had known they were going to stiff me for the whole thing I would have had them make a complete burger bun and all and thrown the bun and extra stuff out. If you want a better burger and fries with much less wait, go to 5 Guys. I don't think you should have to wait 20 minutes or more for incredibly average fare. Upon entering the place, most people sitting at tables were waiting for their food. While the burgers did taste good, they were small, much smaller than the bun that they came on. The fries were just OK and a tad on the greasy side. For the price, you can do better than this place. read more

Never again. Went here for a fundraiser for my sons camp. It was busy so we were patient. An hour went by and the staff found a bunch of "lost tickets" behind the line. Of course ours was one of the tickets. The best part is they would not immediately start our food after finding the tickets or at least use burgers already cooking for our order. My son and I went there, after seeing that they do a veteran's discount, on the VA website. I went to the counter and showed my Veteran's ID, and was told that you have to be in uniform, and on active duty. That is not what it said on there website or the VA website. No discount, and ridiculously expensive food, without much fanfare for taste. I would rather go to Burger King. read more

Well, I tried to go to Jake's website to give them the opportunity to make this right, but the website is not designed to critique. Luckily there is an other option. We went for lunch - early, we may have been the first customers, yet the staff appeared to be overwhelmed already. Our order was 1 burger, 1 chicken sandwich and 1 order of chips with a beer and a shake. The burger was interpreted incorrectly, either a communication issue or the staff was just not listening. So after we discovered the burger was incorrect, we checked the receipt which was delivered with our food and found they had not even built the burger to their incorrect plan. The chicken was almost burnt, which I found almost impossible in a modern fryer and our drinks were served with our meal - again, we were possibly the first customers. So while watching the keystone cops routine of preparing our food we were well aware of the time available to pour our drinks - I do understand a shake is a bit more time consuming, but if it truly takes this long what do you do during the lunch rush? Luckily, this was our second poor experience in a week - the other was not Jake's, so perhaps there is something in the air - due to the non-user friendly website we will not return as there are too many places to get a hamburger.
