I had this for at a catered event. The jollof rice was delicious as was the stew. The beef was still fairly tender and the severs were kind.

Houston does have the largest Nigerian population in the United States so it makes sense they will have this type of store. This is a one stop shops for all the items you would want from a Nigerian store. They have all types of dried goods, vegetables, meats, baked goods and shower and cleaning supplies. I would highly recommend if you are an out of towner to stock up on items. It may be awhile before you can access these type of things.

At another location, someone eventually answered, but when I asked for the person's name, they did not clearly identify themselves. If a business is expanding and opening multiple locations, there should be better communication and customer service. Customers should be able to call a store and reasonably expect someone to answer or return calls. I hope management addresses this issue and ensures that each location has staff responsible for answering customer calls and providing professional customer service. The stores may have great potential, but communication with customers is an important part of running a successful business.

This market is one for the largest Vietnamese markets I've ever been to, offering a wide variety of fresh fruits, frozen foods, dry goods, imported sauces, sweets and more. I particularly love their extensive rice paper selections. My favorite is the "no water" rice paper, which doesn't require dipping in water to roll up like traditional ones. Unfortunately, this type of rice paper is available at every asian market so I'm happy Tan Binh has them. They also have a nice section dedicated to ready-to-eat and hot foods. You can grab and go with options like fried fish, tofu, and cooked meats. Customer service is usually pretty friendly. Just like anywhere else, you should check the expiration date of every product before buying. My cousin forgot to do so and bought two boxes of solar dried bananas that were expired. And during the warmer seasons, they set up a nice plant and herb section for sale right outside the entrance.

My nose literally led me to the back of the food mart where the bakery is. I saw trays and trays of different kinds of baklavas in the display cases. I got greedy (as usual when it comes to sweet food) and asked for eight different kinds of baklavas. The baklavas were sold by per pounds. Luckily I brought my Turkish friend along which helped in the communication part, and I was able to get a few pieces of each kind. The baklavas weren't too sweet, and they were so awesomely good. If I have to choose one favorite (trust me, it is tough to have one favorite only), it would have to be the cold baklavas with hazelnut or pistachios. Eat them straight out from the fridge is just aaahhhh... Diyarbakir Burma with pistachio had a good texture contrast that was so good. I also got the rice pudding (forgot to take a pic because I gobbled it down before I remember to take a pic) which came in a small rectangle aluminum tray. The rice pudding was baked well, and it wasn't overly sweet. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Other than sweets, the bakery sells breads too. That would be the food item l will purchase on my next visit.

Everything is so well-organized and stocked adequately. They have a variety of goods from fresh produce to seafood to baked goods to household items to snacks. They focus more on Chinese specialty goods, but they have varieties of different cultural Asian goods, as well. If you want lamb or beef meat for hot pot, this is the best place to go. The lamb is so soft and not gamey, and it is also very reasonable priced for the amount you get. One whole box is quite dense and can last for multiple homemade hotpot/shabu sessions! I just really love how everything is so organized and clean. Their bakery also has some good stuff. My favorite is their bolo pork bun. The outside is sweet with a sweet custard crust top. It is essentially a pineapple bun filled with pork filling. I can literally eat five of them in a row. Last time we came, we cleared out all their pineapple pork buns! I also really like their produce. They have so many different produce, and it is fresh and reasonable priced. Their seafood area is also pretty well-kept and clean in a separate area. Welcome Food Center has become one of my go-to markets for hotpot meat, produce, and fresh seafood. They are very well-kept and have a lot of options!
