We pass by this place pretty often and was always intrigued by "panini dog", whats a panini dog? Is it a hot dog then put on a panini press or what? So curiosity got the best of us and we had no idea what to expect but left sorely disappointed. For $12 you get practically one hotdog, sliced in half stuff between bread and it doesn't even have the panini grill marks. We could not understand how this place gets away with charging people a gross amount of money for something that tastes below average. I'm usually pretty chill about what I eat, it takes a lot for me to say this is straight up bad. But there was no redeeming qualities about this panini dog plus they have the confidence to say "Home of the Original Panini Dog". No....its just home of the only panini dog. My boyfriend and I have never been this confused over how a restaurant survives like this. Meanwhile plenty of other great restaurants had to close cause of pandemic yet this is surviving? Outside seating so the pups can hang out. Water for the dogs. Panini dog may not be pretty, buts it's pretty damned delicious. Get the spicy relish (not sure what it's called), and get a soda splash with pineapple coconut. Just coconut is not sweet, so if you like la croix, it's good. The atmosphere and the service at this place are great. If you don't have endless amounts of money, it's not a great thing. On the menu on the wall, it says I say bowl $10 with peanut butter is $1.50 two dollars at the most more but when they bring it up, it comes out 345+ you feel like you wanna leave a tip by the time you're done you're paying $15 for essay bowl which says $10 on the wall, I asked him about it. They said it rings up this way I remember about two months ago. I was paying $11 for the whole thing then last month I was paying 12 now I'm paying 1345. This is the second time I've had a negative feeling about this place. First time, the cashier was flirting with a woman while I stood there for 10 minutes and he never acknowledged me, so I walked out. Then, we attempted to go to get an açaí bowl tonight and we showed up at 7:40, when the open sign was still lit up and Website says closes at 8 PM. The man refused to help us and said "the kitchen is closed." Do not advertise that you're open until 8 PM if you're closed more than 20 minutes earlier than your advertised time!!! Came by here on our way to OB dog beach with our pups to grab a quick iced coffee and bite... it did not disappoint! Staff were super friendly and helpful with questions, especially when we asked about the paninis and smoothies. I ordered an a large iced coffee with almond milk ($2 what a DEAL!) and an "In the purple" smoothie ($10.. a little pricey for a smoothie, but not totally out of range). My husband ordered an iced coffee as well and the veggie eggy weggy panini (full size $12). The smoothie was super yummy and fresh, didn't taste overly sweet or like the fruit was just frozen stuff. My husbands panini was HUGE and packed to the brim with fresh veggies on really fresh baked ciabatta bread. My husband LOVED it.. and honestly he could barely finish it (he'd probably just order the half next time). Food came out quick, and when staff saw our doggies with us, even brought them out a special little snack on the house :) The $2 iced coffees were also REALLY tasty for the price, and no up charge for non-dairy milk.. score! Most disappointing Açaí bowl in SD; from a Brazilian reviewer. Incredible location, good shade for a sunny day, enthusiastic service but the Açaí was poor. I would call it a cereal bowl, sugary coconut flake bowl, granola bowl or anything else that had more presence in the bowl than the two spoons of Açaí at the corner of the bowl. I wish I was exaggerating, but normally the açaí would take over the other condiments, melt and leave a deliciously creammy taste and flavor, but there was an enormous portion of overly sweet coconut flakes, granola, maybe two sliced strawberries, about two tea spoons of blueberries (who were actually fresh fortunately), tiny squares of mango, and that was 3/4 of the bowl, everything else was either the Açaí or just empty space. I wish I'd taken a picture before, but you can actually see from my photo that there's barely any trace of açaí in the bowl and I had enough of the dry stuff it came with. read more

This is a cute place. I came here a few years ago, I was excited to come back during my daughter's softball tournament. This time around I was very disappointed by the açaí bowl. It had mostly granola. You can see by my picture that there is barely any açaí. There were 2 little 10 year old girls that ordered an açaí bowl before me and came back to kindly notify the window server that they cannot eat a lot of gluten and the bowl had all granola. The lady at the windows reply was, "this is how it comes, what are you asking for?" The girls asked for a little more açaí, and the lady gave them more. They thanked her and apologized for bothering her. The lady at the window was very sweet, and I know it wasn't her that served it but, seriously this is a bad açaí bowl. I went to the window to ask for a sticker and saw the lady at the window grabbing ice with her bare dirty hands that she receives $$ with and served it to a customer in water. Totally unacceptable! I'm pretty sure they don't realize that when they are closing and having inappropriate conversations inside, which include profanity, that the customers who are outside eating can hear. read more

Bring back Sunshine! That had the best açaí bowls on the planet. It was a trash açaí bowl. The açaí and the fruit were still frozen. The hoagie had nasty cheap cheese on it. I used to drive a full hour just to get an açaí bowl from Sunshine, but I wouldn't drive 5 mins out of my way for this açaí bowl. I'll never be coming back. Writing this review in hopes that this business can reflect on the reviews of the food they are serving and improve. Came here on a Sunday afternoon to check out this new place. The food was outrageously expensive.... $12 for a whole "panini" and up to $12 for a smoothie. I ordered the chili cheese and egg panini. It was honestly the worst panini I have ever had in my life and it took up to 25 minutes to dish it out. The cheese was basic American cheese slopped onto the chili which tasted like it was made in a prison. The egg was completely over cooked and the bread was about the best thing about the sandwich... not even pressed like a panini should be though... I'm more upset about the fact that this was marked up so much for how awful this food was. I would feel guilty serving this to my customers and charging them this amount of money. Don't think they even taste their own food let alone taste their competition. I'm sure at this point you're wondering about the smoothie. It was about as blended as a fruit salad looks. Frozen soggy strawberries just filling up the cup. Pretty sad. Hope this place survives, but it would take a miracle. read more

If you're coming here expecting Sunshine Smoothies - don't. This place is worse in every way. They raised their prices tenfold, cut down their menu to about 1/3 of what it used to be, and the quality is trash. My boyfriend and I ordered an açaí bowl here and it was trash.
