Really glad I was craving some good Italian! We went there for a lasagna and it was delicious! Really love the saltiness, and flavor with 2 extra Parmesan cups. So generous!

Poma's has you order through a window and there are just a couple of large tables outside to sit and eat. It took about 10 minutes for my sandwhich to be prepared and I went during peak lunchtime. I got the meatball sandwich and it was delicious. The meatballs are really flavorful and had the right ratio of sauce on top. I ordered it with cheese which I believe is an extra $1.

First of all, love the window concept, walk up order and pick up, so easy. I got the torpedo and the sandwhich itself isn't anything wild and crazy, but it tastes like a classic. The bread is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside with a good meat ration. Really hit the spot on a nice day like today. My friend got the sausage sandwhich and it's loaded, two massive sausages with lots of melted cheese and sauce. Perfection. And it's all quick! We were in and out in like 10 minutes with our food. Can't wait to go back!

I have walked by here a number of times while on my way to La Dona across the street. However, I made it a point to come here on my way out and pick up food to go. There's four picnic tables on each side if you choose to eat there. I like the window you can order from which is a classic beach eats thing. Thought I'd test them out and ordered a 16" pepperoni pizza and the famous meatball sub. They have a solid crust that holds up well. Great sauce and generous pepperonis! The meatball sub was really good! At first I thought it was weird about how the bread is shaped like a boat but as you eat, the filling gets pushed to the end and there's enough bread to keep it all together! I didn't see that pepperoncinis were served with or I would've said to not add them. Other than that, there was a 15 minute wait since there were orders before mine. Cako and I sat at one of the tables and watched people, and dogs, walk by. I am proud to say I've eaten at all four corners of Bacon and Niagra. Definitely worth coming to! Cako Approves!

The deli is generous with the meat and all the other toppings. I don't understand why they cut the bread from the top and stuff it like a hot dog vs. side cutting it? I felt like it was weird to eat as a sandwich this way and felt like I was holding a taco while eating it. It also left the ends of the bread wasted since it wasn't filled with the good stuff. The flavor is there and I love that it comes with pepperoncinis. It was a good sandwich, just the cut was odd.

We saw this spot was highly rated and actually had a craving for a meatball sub, so when we saw Poma's offered it, we decided to stop in and give it a shot. - PARKING - Street parking, can be hard to find a spot! They have 2 spaces right in front of the shop that's only 15 minutes, perfect if you're picking up or taking your order to-go! - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - You order at the small window and hang around until they call your name/order out. There are two picnic tables around the corner if you decide to eat there, which we did. Took around 10-15 minutes to get our food, and they packed it pretty well! - FOOD - Meatball Sub: The bread is fantastic first off, and I love how they made a little well to hold the Meatballs and sauce in, as usually previous experiences of eating a meatball sub ended up with me attempting to bite the sandwich without toppling the meatballs out. Super crunchy bread, but soft on the inside. I was looking for more flavor in the meatballs themselves though, felt like it was just an OK sauce too. Garlic Bread: Pretty tasty, again the bread is great. Wish it had more butter and garlic. Mac Salad: Tasted like the Vons macaroni salad honestly, but I wasn't mad at it because I love that version. Also wasn't expecting them to have the world's best mac salad anyways. - OVERALL - Solid spot, maybe we need to try a different sandwich after reading the reviews, if we ever come back to this area.

Both the roast beef and meatball subs were flavorful, fresh and delicious. I really enjoyed the addition of the pepperoncinis as well. My one critic is that both sandwiches could have used a bit more sauce (more mayo on the roast beef and extra marinara on the meatball sub). The cannoli gets a 3/5 stars - it wasn't terrible, but i've had way better in san diego! Overall, I'd recommend this place for a tasty, simple and filling italian sandwich especially after a relaxing day at the beach. The staff were very nice and the wait time (10 minutes for 2 sandwiches) was reasonable.

still coming here every trip to San Diego - moved away 30 years ago, but eat here multiple times per trip when visiting my Mom. This place cannot be beat - tastes just as delicious as when my Dad would bring me here as a child - the pizza sandwich is my go to - but its the home of the roast beef! The meatball sandwich is also delicious. Ooh I'm so hungry right now and they are 500 miles away. So sad! Can't wait to visit again and eat their delicious food on the cliffs - no longer can eat on the pier and watch the surfers - can go down on the wall and listen to the music someone is playing and watch the sunset from there as well.

It's been a few years since I ordered from here, but a cool night in watching the Dodgers called for something warm and filling... enter Poma. Had an eggplant sandwich and the antipasto salad. The sandwich was exactly what my body craved. Perfectly prepared and portioned. The salad featured Cotto and Hard Salamis matched with Mortadella and Provolone cheeses and plenty of olives and pepperoncinis. To accompany this meal....a can of Buenaveza Salt and Lime Lager. This is the meal that paved the way for a historic Dodger win. Perfect meal and a perfect evening!

Coming back to send my love to my favorite sub place…read more I've sadly moved to a different part of town so Fatboy's is no longer a few blocks away. I still try to stop by every few months as this place holds a special place in my heart. A no frills spot. Solid and consistent. To the point but friendly customer service. Fantastic drink, chip and snack selection. Sandwiches are always bomb asf. The hot momma and BLT loaded up is my favorite. My husband still loves their Ruben (it is his favorite place to get it.) You get a small potato or macaroni salad on the side with a pickle (perfect crunch.) I personally think it's a great little add on. Their chili is also simple but delicious. I personally think their chili pairs perfectly with any of their sandwiches. It's not a heavy thick chili. Which is why I think it pairs so well. I won't lie it's a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. It's loaded up and good quality. I never feel gross or overly bloated after eating here. I will be coming back to Fatboy's until I move out of San Diego or die. lol. One of my favorite gems in SD. Always will be worth the drive or walk. Thank you for always delivering even years later.

I used to frequent Fatboy's because it was close and convenient for a long time, but I am rarely able to visit anymore... parking is a bigger challenge every day in North Park, and finding even a 15-minute spot takes way longer than the drive for me now (but the walk is too far to pick up a quick meal). Today I was down the street for something else so decided to order a sandwich. I was excited, then my jaw dropped when I saw the price increases. It's $18 for the North Park Club now, with no extras. I already had a hard time justifying $15 for a sandwich but I'm officially, 100% priced out now. I know it's not necessarily on the business owners; rent is exorbitant in NP, profit margins are small in the food service industry, and operating costs are high. Our city is eating itself alive, but thank you for the years of sandwiches!

At long last we beamed down, and the experience surpassed every expectation. From the moment we entered, the atmosphere felt like coming home to a welcoming starbase. The staff treated us with genuine warmth and patience as we navigated a menu full of storied classics. Their attentive service turned a simple meal into a memorable mission. My first officer aka wife enjoyed a superbly composed salad, and chose the Turkey Club -- both delivered with thoughtful care. I began with the biscuits and gravy, a traditional hit that tasted like comforting shore leave. But the true highlight was the patty melt: perfectly seared, with lush caramelized onions and melted cheese that achieved harmony at warp speed. It was, without hyperbole, the best patty melt I've encountered in this quadrant. Each bite was a cascade of flavor that felt like discovering a thriving new world. This kitchen knows how to respect ingredients and execute classics flawlessly. No extra condiments were necessary -- the craftsmanship spoke for itself. DZ Akins is now a plotted course for every future convoy through I‑8. Highly recommended for anyone seeking honest, stellar diner fare and service that treats you like family among the stars. I'm always a fan of seeing a restaurant acknowledge their regulars it just makes such a positive vibe and Dina welcomes them by name so tells you how often they frequent. Still located in a tiny business mall and if it weren't for the red on the sign you might miss it. Still cash only. Still the safest place on the planet as it is frequented by every form of law enforcement possible from BP, SDPD, CVPD, to the MIB (seeing if you're still with me). Update: Came back today with my friend and we ordered the B3 and the Turkey & Cheddar Mousse sandwiches, plus sides of potato salad and cucumber salad, and a double chocolate cookie with pistachio and sea salt. Everything was really good, but the Turkey & Cheddar Mousse sandwich was the star of the show. The cookie was great too. So we decided since we'd be in the Bay Park area, we'll check out the original location, Siesel's. Glad we did! I wanted to make a slow cooker brisket one weekend, so it was perfect.
